Dawn of the Dead
The paradigm zombie film, and a horror movie that is also a classic film! ...a rare gem for the genre.

Ever Since the World Ended
This is aself0indulgent indie flick about how a small group of people living in San Francisco are dealing in a post-apocalyptic world. A virus killed off most of the world's population, leaving te once booming metropolis of San Fran at a population of approx 180. This is obviously shot in DV, 90% are straight interviews of "survivors". A nice indulgence for those of us who like to ponder the intellectual side and the intricacies of a dystopic empty future, so I really liked it, but there is nothing here to rile any other sort of audience. It's "The Blair Witch Project" of dystopian sci-fi.

Night of the Comet (1984,  PG-13)
Night of the Comet
Great "end of the world" and "empty society" scenes. Low on zombies and no real gore, but the two lead actresses are dead-on playing teen sisters raised by a military nut soldier. The story lags a bit in originalty and form towards the middle, but the dialogue is great and the premise of what causes the "zombies" is interesting. Recommended for those who like the "End of the World" subgenre and odd eighties classics. Gorehounds will be disappointed, but the thinking zombie watcher will find some novel parts.
