With a guiness book of world records title under his belt- he has made over 200 films, not all of them good. Artist to some, hack to others. Jess Franco is a true artist obssessed with filmmmaking!

One of the more "slick" looking Franco films. Beautifully photographed in B&W. The fight in the hallway near the end is amazing. When Franco has the backers his films are unforgetable. This has all the key ingrediants of a solid Franco film. Including the ever reliable performance art scene in a club.

Venus in Furs could easily be considered Franco's best film. It is breath takingly beautiful. The film has a surreal quality to it, that it evokes a haunting emotion that stays with you. There are some shots that may be the best in any Franco film. The Manfred Mann ultra cool jazz score is incredible. Maria Rohm is so freaking gorgous here. She's been in alot of Franco films but the impression she leaves you with in Venus in Furs is part of that haunting feeling you take away. She's fantastic here. And so is James Darren. Klaus Kinski has a small important role. I would like to say he was under used here, he's only in a couple scenes, but hes not. The story sticks with the characters its supposed to stick with.
This is as good as any of Francos best. And it is now a struggle for me to choose an absolute favorite Franco film. But this is a leading candidate!

Jess Franco is an underappreciated filmmaker. He is a true artist. This film is one of his better arty films. The gorgeous Slodad Miranda is hypnotizing!!

Iam a real sucker for a Jess Franco/ Soldade Miranda film. She had a presance that demanded your attention. In typical Franco fashion Miranda uses her sexual power to its fullest. Who could blame him for wanting her to be naked as much as possible. And in addition to her stripteases he makes her a secret agent. Although her part is not as large as one would hope. The film its self isnt that bad either. Not as weird as most Franco films. though.

Jess Franco's tale of innocence lost to sexual perversion and murder is loosely based on the works of De Sade. Soledad Miranda gives a great performance as the innocent Eugenie, who's obsession with the erotic works of her writer stepfather brings her to a world of incestuous perversion and acts of murder. Paul Muller and Franco regular is the stepfather. Francophiles will love this film. All others avoid. One of my personal favs from the endless Franco vault.

A bit of a disapointment for me. Female Vampire is Franco's sexually charged film starring Lina Romay in her first starring role.
I had heard much about this. But after seeing it i cant figure out what all the hoopla is about. Franco spends most of the film zooming in on Romays hairy chocha as she rolls around in a sexual frenzy. Now i love Franco, but this one bored me a bit.
Now Romay did hold my interest for the most part. She is definatly doing her best Soledad Miranda impersination. She looks good even if that bush streches to he Culo.
I can see myself revisiting this film in the future so its not a total loss. Just a disapointment.
