1
Clerks (1994,  R)
Clerks
This is one of the cheapest movies you will see out there but that will fade from your mind as you hear the sharp dialog and witty banter between the two leads.
The film is a simple one but it's fun and it is an introduction to the world where the rest of the movies reside.
2
Mallrats (1995,  R)
Mallrats
I feel this is one of the weakest of the films Smith has done but it still has a lot of good things going for it.
The character of Brodie is excellent and played by first time actor Jason Lee. He steals all the scenes he is in and doesn't give an inch. Jay and Bob are bigger in this film and you can get a taste of the hijinks we will see later in the film series.
3
Chasing Amy (1997,  R)
Chasing Amy
This is the best of the bunch for me right now. Smith's voice is heard in all of the characters and his story is spot on. This is a love story between not only a boy and a girl but of two friends as well when dealing with the changes in their lives.
The movie cost way less than the big budget Mallrats but looked better. It had a good mood to the film that was made better by the performances by all the actors involved.
4
Dogma (1999,  R)
Dogma
This was fun. There were some great scenes in it as well that I think are some of the best work done by Smith and even by some of the actors involved.
The scene between Damon and Affleck in the parking garage was excellent as was the scene where Rickman talks to Linda on the lake.
5
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001,  R)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
This is one big thank you to the fans of Kevin Smith and it is a fun romp indeed.
There are so many in jokes in this flick that watching it without seeing the others will only leave you missing most of the jokes and wondering what everyone else is laughing at.
6
Jersey Girl (2004,  PG-13)
Jersey Girl
Underrated movie. Most people write it off for either being a chick flick or one of the Ben/Jen flicks but it was honest and loving and even had the funny stuff Smith is known for.
7
Clerks II (2006,  R)
Clerks II
I thought this was a good reunion of the characters from the first movie and it was nice to see where they ended up after the film.
While I thought the story was good and the casting excellent there was the usual language and vulgarity as is in all Smith movies. I was fine with it all except for the donkey show at the end. I felt it was unneeded and was there only to shock.
The ending was a little sappy but I liked the resolution. One of his best.
8
An Evening with Kevin Smith (2001,  Unrated)
An Evening with Kevin Smith
Excellent. Funny as all get out and it never lets up.
9
The Flying Car (2002,  Unrated)
The Flying Car
This was a funny short film done for Leno's late night show. It's funny and simple and is filled with the comic dialog the Smith writes with the characters that started it all. Dante and Randal try and figure out what they would be willing to give up to give the world the flying car.
10
Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008,  R)
Zack and Miri Make a Porno
While there were a couple funny parts and one or two good characters I thought this is the weakest of all Smith's movies. Graphic dialogue fills the scenes and seems to be there for shock rather than content, the story is choppy and pointless at parts, and the to main characters leap to the idea of making a porn movie to get out of debt way too fast.
There is one or two scenes that I liked from a directors stand point but for the most part I didn't care for the flick at all.
