This is a truly hidden and obscure gem. Surprisingly brilliant. Ceritanya berubah total, gw ga nyangka akhirnya filmnya bakal seperti ini...gw kira cuma love story doang, ternyata much more complcated. Hollywood is not capable of doing a movie this good. Highly recommended.

Love this movie, although the accent is so thick, I NEED ENGLISH SUBTITLES! I cn definitely see why this movie is a gay classic and all-time favourite. Slice-of-life story with magical ending.

The most romantic movie of 2005.

Truly an overlooked gem, this two hour biopic traps your attention and never let go, no matter how comfortable you are with the subject matter. Authentic and moving (and left me sniffling with a lump on my throat). Definitely a recommended viewing!

I'm very happy with the movie overall. It's colorful and well-acted drama. Not bombastic and preachy like Hollywood drama movies and much better than your average American "slice-of-life" indie like Rachel getting married etc. Kudos for the director and the actors for elevating an otherwise B drama movie into one of the finest 90 minutes drama movie (and also this movie is safe for family viewing!).

One of the best Indonesian movies ever. Compelling and scary. My only gripe is the ending.

I don't know why this movie is rated so low. I personally like this movie. It's a charming little movie that will sweeten your day. M'buki M'vuki!

Anyway, this is one of those indies that is cheaply made but has its hearts in the right places. I found it embarrasing to watch at times because the shoestring budget really shows, but overall, it's a sweet little movie and recommended for a romantic night.

For me this movie is the perfect Sunday movie. To describe/review this movie in detail is difficult. It's better in terms of quality than most of the recent American gay indie (Shelter, Kiss the bride etc). However this movie falls into a "grey" area and I can see why gay activists will loathe this movie. The story, although highly unlikely that it will happen in real life (Western countries), it's still a possibilty (probably much greater in Asia since gay men are still being forced into marriage to produce children). The pros of this movie: It takes a lot of guts to make this kind of movie (I've never seen one with this kind of topic). I like the ending, it's realistic. The movie doesn't look/feel cheap due to the beautiful backdrop(Vancouver island). The AMAZING SOUNDTRACK....I will get my hands of Ben Sigston's CD. The cast is mesmerizing esp. Dan Payne...the cons: they should hire some other actor to play the role of Chase. It's a guilty pleasure (DILF fantasy film), this movie is for gay audience only. I won't show it to any of my girlfriends....anyway it is good that all characters are full of humanity and love...if it happens in real life it will be a total mess. Overall it's an enjoyable movie. Think of it as a Lifetime movie for gay men. PS: judging is not loving....I just want to say that. :p

I don't know anything abouth the myth or the Lovecraft books, I just gave it a try because of Tori Spelling and because I'm a horror fan. The movie is off with a bad start. From the liquor store scene things start to get interesting, and the scary/thriller aspect carries through the second half...until the ambiguous finale. It's definitely a notch above the usual fare of After Dark Horrorfest. It's quite good.
PS: I just noticed the low score on flixster and imdb, and they do not reflect the quality of the film...the low raters are probably Lovecraft fans who are pissed at the gay part.

Not another gay indie...I didn't know what to expect from this movie...the beginning was slow however things get really interesting later (when the day turns to night and the atmosphere gets darker) and this is one of those movies that make you think and reflect when it is over. This movie is harrowing, romantic, enigmatic and funny. Good stuff but not for everyone.
