Human Traffic (2000,  R)
Human Traffic
story set over 24 hours, in cardiff wales, about a bunch of young clubbers, who work during the week, and live for the weekend when they go pill popping and other use of drugs, and out on the town and club the night away, in nightclub, and house partys, the story follows jip(john simm) moff(danny dyer) koop(shaun parkes) and a few others, as relationships are cemented and posible love interests arise, a great look aT the rave culture in south wales, and drug culture that exists, great look at frienship, and although the dance scene isnt my scene, i certainly dident turn my nose up at what was happening, great performances from simms and especially danny dyer, a geezer was discovered with this film, aparently a great sundtrack to, check it out.

Twin Town (1997,  R)
Twin Town
people say this is the welsh trainspotting, and even though its not a patch on.trainspotting, its got a lot going for it. 2 troubled youths spend there days causing trouble, and taking drugs, stealing cars, when there father is in a work accident, and local business man wont pay compinsation, they take matters into there own hands, and with 2 local police officers on there backs, as they are in with the busineeman, things turn to crime and murder, great dialogue, and moments of madness, and a weird view of welsh life, all the observations come out, a great cast, rhys ifans is terrific in this, in a early role. and dougrey scott, as a cop on the take, great soundtrack too, and a fine adition to great british films

Hedd Wyn (1992,  Unrated)
Hedd Wyn
nominated for best foreign language film at oscars way back in 1992, telling story of one man, who was up for a eisteddford a welsh prize, the biggest of its type in wales for poetry, and a maassive honour for a welshman, but events of world war 1 get in the way as he must go off to fight, and not knowing if he has won the prize, a really authentic look at welsh life during that period, superb acting in native tounge, and a nice story all round, a gentle love story also, really portraying wales as a place for poets, and that dylan thomas was not only welsh poet around

The Englishman Who Went up a Hill But Came Down A Mountain (1995,  PG)
The Englishman Who Went up a Hill But Came Down A Mountain
hugh grant stars in a charming film about a englishman who arrives in a very smal town in wales to register a mountain, but its a hill, and all the locals who are devasteted, its there local claim to fame that they have a mountain, so try there be4st to charm him into staying so they can rise the levil, so it will be officially a mountain, great look at welsh life in a small town, in the 1920s i believe, and quite funny, hugh is his bumblin self, but great watching him get into situations, and the welsh way of life, watch out for the two twins who are old men, great looking as well, with a great look for the town, a good feel good movie all round, and a hugh grant film not many people know of, it came out just after four weddings and a funeral, but did pretty much nothing, a great little welsh film

A Way of Life (2004,  Unrated)
A Way of Life
life for a single mom and her young kid in the south wales valleys, her brother and friends and dealings with a imigrant living across street, and the racism that comes across, very real looking and acted, with all doing very well, especially the actress playing the mom, a interesting and critical look at life for people not making much money and stress and situations thart arise
6
The Edge of Love (2008,  R)
The Edge of Love
keira knightley does welsh as a childhod friend and former lover of welsh poet dylan thomas, superbly played by mathew rhys, exellently portraying thomas as a brooding drunken, arogant playboy, with a nice turn from sienna miller nd cillian murthy, as kieras lover, not liking what he sees, as dylan fancys a bit of everything wether its one women or the other, not the classic atonement was, but in same veign, and setting, with a nice story going through it, and aparently the first of a few dylan thomas films currently getting a release
7
How Green Was My Valley (1941,  Unrated)
How Green Was My Valley
john ford the legendery director known more for teaming up with john wayne tackles a hollywood version of welsh life, so a bit unrealistic, but pretty good otherwise, life in a mining town, not a easy life for all concerned, and a look at the valleys, in a time gone by, which is in the past, a setting in a industry, coal mining, which definatly isnt what it used to be a film of its time in both direction, and acting, and welshness coming through, especially the singing and music throughout
