My love for sport movies is well documented. Its the genre that I don t get "She made me watch this" expression from the guys. It is a big part of the Hollywood scene.

Tagline - from the ashes we rose. A truly moving film based on true and such tragic events. Its not just a sports story, this tale inspires and it is extremely uplifting. How to rise above the ashes and move forward as the tagline said.

Friday Night Lights
Based on a true story. Every one of the actors here is a gem in this movie. I got so caught up with the characters. The games scenes are also one of the best parts. It is sometimes difficult to watch the bone-crushing battles on the football field, Peter Berg captured every essence of the players very well. The personal pain, the joy and the pressure to succeed where football is everything in a little town called Odessa in Texas. The obsessive desire to win at almost any cost.

Cool Runnings
This has to be one of the coolest and funniest sports movie in the 90s. An old favourite of mine. Four Jamaicans in a bobsled!! Their characters are endearing and humourous.
38
Peaceful Warrior (2006,  PG-13)
39
61* (2001,  Unrated)
40
Glory Road (2006,  PG)
41
The Wrestler (2008,  R)
The Wrestler
In this film, I do not see Mickey Rourke but the wrestler, Randy "The Ram" Robinson who is an aging professional wrestler past his prime. Mickey is extraordinary in this role and he deserves his Golden Globe Award. I am not a fan of wrestlng and frankly some scenes are too bloody for me but overall the movie is not bad. I do find the plot predictable.
42
Brian's Song (1970,  G)
43
Gracie (2007,  PG-13)
Gracie
It s a gem of a movie about a girl who gets on the varsity boys soccer team after her brother, who was the team star, dies in a car accident. Families with girls in soccer team would love it.
44
Girlfight (2000,  R)
45
Varsity Blues (1999,  R)
Varsity Blues
A likable high school football movie where people here do not question the sanctity of football because winning is everything-at all cost here in Texas. I suppose the favourite part for most guys would be the whipped cream bikini scene. This happens to be Ali Larter 's movie debut.
