One of THE weirdest films I have seen to date. 99% of of the time you don't know what the hell is going, who everyone is, you probably couldn't remember the characters names if you tried. But this is made up for by an amazing study of characters and the weird stuff that anyone can get up to if under the influence of numerous types of drugs. Johnny Depp and Del Toro are superbly cast, they both play the weirdest and most likeable characters I have seen in a while. The down side to them is that you can hardly hear what they're saying most of the time. Del Toro especially, he mumbles throughout the entire movie and Depp has a cigarette in his mouth for the majority of the time making it even more difficult to comprehend the movie at all. Terry Gilliam shows once again that he is the king of weird film-making and this one is no exception. It will definetly be remembered weirdly but fondly.

I almost don't even know where to start with regards to this film. There was one word that popped into my head after watching this; "Masterful"
This truly is one of the most captivating, original and downright creative films in many, many years. The film really hits you hard both mentally (when almost struggling to get through it) and what seemed like physically, like a slap to the face or a punch to the stomach. Requiem is one of those films that I was just in awe in the whole time. Mostly because of Aronofsky's style and techniques of directing; from this film it is extremely clear that he is a genius. He is sure to rise up my rank of favourite directors just as soon as I see another one of his sure to be brilliant films.
The performances here also hold up against everything else brilliant. Burstyn is believable and extremely weird as arguably the 'main' character here, although this film doesn't demand you to know exactly who that is. Jared Leto is always amazing as a supporting actor who always backs-up nicely the leads in other films. Here he gives an AMAZING performance that is completely captivating and entirely believable in every single way. Jennifer Connelly's performance goes without saying; it's stellar. And who'd have thought that Marlon 'Little Man' Wayan's could actually give a great performance? But he does here, even if he is minor.
It's weird to say but I was captivated with a film about drug taking. It's probably the only time I will be, especially about one that showcases it in such a graphic way. The film has a strong and very clear message that you strangely might not get right away but you know you've learned something regardless.
Requiem for a Dream is a film that will live long in my memory, one that I am sure to watch over and over even if it IS one of THE most uncomfortable films I have ever witnessed. Aronofsky is easily one of the greatest creative directors of all time, simply from this ONE film. The film isn't perfect however, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on but after repeat viewings I'm sure I will realise what they are. Just prepare after watching to have a lie down for a while, that's if you aren't already...

This has got to be one of THE weirdest films I have ever seen. From minute one we are thrown into a world of humour, chaos, surrealty and downright weirdness; but I absolutely loved it.
Terry Gilliam is without a doubt THE weirdest director of all time. I wonder where the hell he gets his ideas from. It's as if he wakes up from a dream, writes everything that he dreamt about down and then turns that into a movie.
Jonathan Pryce I have limited knowledge of his work but from here I can see he is a good actor, not a great one but still good. There are some very cool cameos from the likes of Bob Hoskins as a governmental heating engineeer and Robert De Niro as a freelance, rebel hewating engineer; it's all very very weird.
The storyline at points does actually seem straightforward but when you just get settled into the 'norm' you are pulled back out and are shown something completely crazy...but brilliant.
This film is a masterpiece of creativity; made up of crazy dreamlike scenes mixed with great characters and a very weird storyline. You simply must see this film as soon as possible. I promise you will never see anything like it.

What an absolutely excellent film. I guess I am semi-biased here as I am a huge fan of most of the cast. Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt (however mainstream he is) and David Morse, who I think is just awesome.
I just was fascinated by the whole idea of this film, the story and everything around it. Terry Gilliam is one of my favourite directors. His style is just right up my street, one of the most unique directors out there, certainly one of the weirdest. I have enjoyed every single one of his films and this is no exception.
The idea of time travel and then the fact that time travel has occured causes something to happen in the past that already has. It's confusing stuff but as I said fascinating none the less. The eternal questin of "If he didn't go back in time in the future would that still have happened?" Confusing yet inruiging stuff.
Overall I just thought this film was just plain excellent. One of the genuinely confusing films out there yet also one of the most enjoyable for me.

After watching this film for the first time I didn't like it that much but for some reason but I recently decided to watch it again and I'm so glad I did. I realised how wonderfully creative it was once I seen passed th absolute weirdness of it. It is so brilliantly unique that I was in awe the whole time watching it. John Cusack is brilliant here along with Catherine Keener and Cameron Diaz who by the way is unrecognisable. John Malkovich himself plays his part with a great sense of wondering which I think suited the film. The storyline is so absurd that it's brilliant. Spike Jonze I feel is very artsy and he is an aquired taste to say the least. I personally would recommend this film to any fans of weird filmmaking but it's not for everyone.

After numerous reviewings I realise the true and full brilliance, significance and excellence this film has to offer. I still feel this is a film that a lot of people might not like because they either have a very short attention span or they demand answers for every question that understandably comes into their heads. Fortunately I am not one of those rather simple-minded movie folk. That's not to say I grasped everything about the movie and knew the answers to the endless questions it creates, even after these numerous viewings. But even though I still hardly understood what was actually going on, I was stilll absolutely mezmerised by it.
Stanley Kubrick has created a masterpiece of filmaking, one that may just be his greatest achievement, and a vision of a certain point in the future, a futuristic vision that I haven't seen being topped yet. The vision that Kubrick has in almost every scene in this movie is just jaw-dropping. From the backdrops of the wasteland desert as we see man in the early stages, to the awe inspiring shots of outer space. The simplicity of some of the shots makes the film all the more mezmerising.
I held the extreme slow pace of the film against it upon first viewing but after giving it multiple more shots I now realise the importance this plays in the overall experince. It allows you to soak in the unique visions of such a master as Kubrick, all the while contemplating the meaning of what you are witnessing on-screen. It is both a visual and physical experience in equal measure, rarely matched by any other film I have seen in that sense.
Never has a film combined jaw-dropping, mind-blowing visuals with food for thought as well as 2001: A Space Odyssey does. It begs questions of life, morality, our reliance in this day and age on technology and almost all aspects of life that we all deal with at some point. If there were ever a definitive list of films to see before you die then 2001 would surely be close to the top.

Being that this is my second favourite movie of all time, of course I absolutely loved everything about it. There was just something that got me hooked the first time I saw it and ever since each viewing has just made it better and better, and you definitely don't feel as confused with it.
Jake Gyllenhall plays someone who is a lot younger than he actually was in real life when he filmed it. But he pulls it off well and you don't for a second know that he isn't that age. And I must say he gives an utterly fantastic performance. He really does put across anger, innocence, confusion and ultimitely acceptance in his performance; things that I all felt at some point or other during the movie.
Who'd have thought that a film about a six-foot tall bunny rabbit mysteriously causing someone to avoid his death then tell him that the world is going to end in a month would work; but it does. I have went over and over what the message or conclusion to the film is and I still cn't completely get it. But after watching it multiple times I have started to understand it a lot more.
So Donnie Darko is my favourite film of all time (after Pulp Fiction of course). Richard Kelley does a fantastic job with his first ever film and I only wish him the best of luck with whatever he has lined up. Well done.

One of the most original and best films ever made. It's overwhelming demand to watch it a second time is very clear here. The first viewing is very confusing but you just know that it is something special. But as you watch it again (and again) it just gets better every time, you always get something new from it; you always notice something you didn't before.
Guy Pierce gives us a fantastic performance as he takes us through his confusing but none the less amazing tale of a frustrating memory problem and tying to find his wife's killer.
Christopher Nolan is one of the best directors working in cinema today and with such amazing following films as Batman Begins and The Presitge; he is a force to be reckoned with.
Fresh, inventive and enthrolling; this film will have you in awe the whole and afterwards. It's backwards style is not only highly original and well executed; it strangely works better than most films that appear in the right order. Right up until the end you are left wondering what order everything happened in; then the end just ties it together and the story just 'clicks'; even if the end is the start (confusing I know)
This is an interesting, fresh and original film on all accounts. Brilliantly executed and with a fantastic script and performances; this is one of the best films ever made.
*Number 5 in my Top 100 list*

Absolutely phenominal in every single way possible. From start to finish I was absolutely hooked and it's nice to see Jim Carrey in a very serious role (his first since The Truman Show)
Carrey is just fantastic here giving a strong, solid performance of a man confused about what has happened to him and ultimately doing the exact same thing. And Kate Winslet is also phenominal, giving her very best performance of her career.
The storyline is really complx but once you get into it you start to not mind that. You really have to concentrate on every second of the film to understand it and luckily I am able to do that so I enjoyed it even more.
The supporting cast just fit so well and work incredibly together. From the fresh, unqiue performance from Mark Ruffalo to the mature performance from Tom Wilkinson, the supporting cast are just great.
One of the greatest films of all time and one of, if not THE best performance from comic genius Jim Carrey.
*Number 16 in my Top 100 list*
