Wes Craven... He's back. This movie is gonna kick ass. Not only of a lot of crap in cinemas right now, but it's going to kick the ass of everyone who sees it. Even me.

Drag Me to Hell (2009,  PG-13)
Drag Me to Hell
I watched the trailer and couldn't believe just how awesome this looked. Today... Today was July 23rd, and this movie was released today here in Australia. Don't get me started on how ridiculously long we had to wait. But let's not start this review on a bitter note. First off - Sam Raimi. Just the name sends a shiver through the spine of any self-respecting horror fan. I need not mention his classic films, honored in my own DVD collection and no doubt many others. Honestly, the first movie of his I watched was in fact Spider-man. Hey, I love Spider-man, have done since I was a kid. When that came out, believe me I was first in line. When the sequels came out, I was first in line. But by the time they came out, I was a fully-fledged Raimi fanatic, having rented a load of his movies. Bruce Campbell's chin still knocks me out. So, where was I today? I didn't line up at all. I bought my tickets online so I could reserve the seats I wanted. Nothing was going to spoil my day, you hear? Nothing! Especially not some snotty little kid who thinks he can get away with sitting in my seat. Regardless, that didn't happen, and I brought a bunch of my friends along who know all too well of my, erm, genre obsession. I had been waiting for this moment for months, and it was finally here. When the lights went down I'm pretty sure I squealed... But don't hold me to that.
The first sequence came and went and by that point I was almost bursting with excitement - why? I was scared shitless. How could this happen?! Within 10 minutes Raimi twisted my nuts off. I don't know, maybe because I was so willing to buy into it and immerse myself so completely or some combination of the two; it didn't matter. I have never been to a horror film at the cinema that actually scared me thoroughly for the entire duration (with a few bits in the middle to giggle at). This... This is why I love horror, it's as simple as that. I was absorbed. I was intrigued. I was scared. And I loved it.
Do yourself a favour - see it. If you have, welcome to enlightened side of humanity.
Oh, and in brief... The ending... Left me speechless. I assure you.

Cell (,  Unrated)
Cell
An Eli Roth adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Should be interesting if not downright horrific.
4
The Wolfman (2010,  Unrated)
The Wolfman
I shouldn't want to see this. But I do. I really, really do. It has Anthony Hopkins and music by Danny Elfman. And it's being released on my birthday. Why fight it?
5
The World's End (2009,  Unrated)
The World's End
The third in the 'Blood and Ice Cream' or 'Three Flavors Cornetto' trilogy. Shaun of the Dead was beyond brilliant. Hot Fuzz was awe-inspiring. This? It will be just as good.
6
Machete (2010,  Unrated)
Machete
Oh yes.
7
Inglourious Basterds (2009,  R)
Inglourious Basterds
Quentin has a lot to live up to. No doubt he can pull off another quirky, most likely ultra-violent film.

That's what I said before I'd seen it. Now I'm saying - I was right!
8
Tyrannosaurus Rex (2011,  Unrated)
Tyrannosaurus Rex
I think it'll be better than H2.
9
The Lovely Bones (2009,  Unrated)
The Lovely Bones
Peter, thank you.
10
Survival of the Dead (2009,  Unrated)
11
Saw VI (2009,  R)
12
Paranormal Activity (2009,  R)
13
The Final Destination (2009,  R)
The Final Destination
Yes... The plot was thin and silly... The dialogue was inane...The characters were about as interesting as a Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg movie... No, sorry, that's too far, they weren't that bad. But anyway... It was so fun to watch in 3-D. It really was. Heads were like BRAWW and intestines were KRAWWW and blood was all over the screen like SHHAAAA and FWAAAA KARAWWW BAWWWW.
14
Zombieland (2009,  R)

Hooray, Carnage. They damn well better get him right. I vote Matthew Lillard.
