Interesting and fun to watch, especially the gay scenes. But this is not a gay movie; at least that was never the focus of the story.

I've never read the manga before, in fact this is the first time I've encountered this story, despite the fact that there has been a japanese series adaptation of this way back in 2001.

So based solely on the movie, I think it's worth the watch. Especially the mouth-watering cakes they have. They pacing was really weird though, and at times I got confused as to what actually happened. It seems to me that except for the lead, the three supporting character's back stories was just cramped in 1hr and 49mins. So the screenplay could've been better.

Having said that, I still liked this movie! Watch this when you get the chance.

Hachimitsu to Clover (Honey & Clover) (2006,  Unrated)
Hachimitsu to Clover (Honey & Clover)
After watching the first episode of the live-action series (starring Toma-kuuun), I thought, heck why not watch the whole story in one movie?

And so I did. Did it make me want to watch the whole series (or the anime)? Not really, but fortunately Ikuta Toma is enough reason to do that. :D

So now I can't avoid comparing the two live-action adaptations. The live-action series was funny, even though the scenes were sometimes incredibly random, the movie was too laid-back, too casual that apart from the fact that you see them hanging out together, I just don't see them as friends.

[I'll elaborate more on this next time...]

Love Com (Lovely Complex) (2006,  Unrated)
Love Com (Lovely Complex)
this one can be categorized as "charming" because it was quite an enjoyable film despite the bad acting (which was exaggerated), the extremely shallow plot, and the random supporting character antics.

But I enjoyed it anyhow! I doubt the makers of this film wanted anyone to overthink this film.
Because with movies like this, you just don't okay?

So if you want to unwind, and watch a mindless movie
watch this. You don't need your brain at all.

GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka
For some reason I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Even the high ratings for the movie here surprised me.

Not that it was a bad movie, it's just... well... it didn't appeal to me. Sorry, I'm not a fan of the original series (well, because I haven't seen it yet, thought I still want to!)

Somehow to me Onizuka Sensei came across more obnoxious than unorthodox. Yeah, he had his charm, albeit a different one. Not a wise teacher. Hmm.. maybe it was because you never actually see him "teach" in class, even in the last classroom scene. So apart from him being a life-lessons mentor mostly to Ayano and Raku, I didn't see a teacher at all.

Ayano is pretty annoying. I didn't even pity her character at all. PLUS, the actress looks like Kim Chiu. ek.
and.. the reporter lady looks like Marian Rivera.

and, can anyone tell me what was the condom's importance in all of this??

I lost all feeling in my arms when I watched this. Funny enough, I watched this with a friend on Valentines Day, it is about love of family after all. haha.

Superb direction. It was absolutely sick and twisted, which makes it so damn good.

It wasn't what I expected, actually, it was better. Made me laugh.

Visuals were great, pretty vibrant colors. (This is actually the first video I uploaded in my Ipod nano 3G, just to test it out, and despite the small screen, I really thought the cinematography was excellent.)

The story is quite simple enough. But the characters were almost polar opposites, yet it wasn't weird seeing them becoming friends.

Desu nôto 2 (Death Note: The Last Name)
A great end to the first movie. you really feel for Tatsuya Fujiwara's character Light, and you'll just looooooooooove Ken'ichi Matsuyama even more!

Death Note (Desu nôto) (2006,  Unrated)
Death Note (Desu nôto)
Great movie. and I'm not even remotely familiar with the anime or manga. I was more impressed with Tatsuya Fujiwara in this film than in Battle Royale, mainly because his performance in this film provoked a lot of reactions from me. I mean, by the middle of the movie, he turned out to be quite evil. And I wanted him punished! But at the climax, I was surprised that I still pitied him alot... then by the end I hated him yet again.

But what really made it for me in the movie is Ken'ichi Matsuyama playing "L". I just love him so. So eccentric, and I like eccentric characters. If there was a Hollywood movie for this (Though I hope not) I could definitely see a younger Johnny Depp playing this role. I love L!!
