The Godfather (1972,  R)
The Godfather
At the moment I can't think of a movie that has so many memorable scenes as this... Marlon Brando is excellent as one of the most memorable characters ever on film. The whole cast is awesome, and Francis Ford Coppola makes one of the greatest cinematic achievements ever, so as he does 2 years later with Part II.

The Godfather, Part II (1974,  R)
The Godfather, Part II
This doesn't even has to be named as a "sequel", it's as amazing as the first one!! Another great cast, involving story and beautiful direction. Al Pacino does this time the role of a true psycho, consumed by power and duty. The Godfather movies are a classic in the history of cinema.

La Nuit Américaine (Day for Night) (The American Night) (1973,  PG)
La Nuit Américaine (Day for Night) (The American Night)
Truffaut's masterpiece! A celebration of the magic of cinema, exploring the whole process and problems during filming schedule, passions awaken, and desperations. Beautifully crafted, great script and performances. A true film for movie-lovers!
4
Taxi Driver (1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro could only make a movie like this, genius work of art.
5
Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre, the Wrath of God) (1972,  Unrated)
Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre, the Wrath of God)
I think I would never find the right words to express how impressed I am with this film...Klaus Kinski can be as scary and crazy as he wants to be.
6
Manhattan (1979,  R)
Manhattan
Allen did it again, a masterpiece that enhanced the magic and romance of New York. Witty dialogue, great character development and an A-class cast makes this movie one of his finest. This is also one of the movies that inspired me the most. A movie for everyone!
7
The Holy Mountain (1973,  R)
The Holy Mountain
Fantastic, weird, with no strings attached, Jodorowsky made a surreal masterpiece that combines blasphemous images with sexual liberations, violence, and many other aspects that really makes an impact on the audience. Loved the macabre sounds with the music that made the mood even more bizarre, there's so many things this film has that you might think for hours only about this film. Umm, and ignore the horrble Jodorowsky's accent.

Il fiore delle mille e una notte (Flower of the Arabian Nights) (Arabian Nights) (1974,  Unrated)
Il fiore delle mille e una notte (Flower of the Arabian Nights) (Arabian Nights)
Such a fascinating film that depicts a world without any sexual prejudices, away from what the consuming habits that reign over the capitalist countries have formed in our minds, as well as many other social tendencies. Pasolini really was against any conventional ideas and was never afraid to tell what he think is wrong with the world. Slowly, Pasolini is becoming one of my favorite directors of all time.
9
Annie Hall (1977,  PG)
Annie Hall
Witty, original, amazing piece of art. This movie is just hilarious, with great character development, great writing , exceptional direction by Woody Allen and unbelievable performances. Perfection on screen.
10
Barry Lyndon (1975,  PG)
Barry Lyndon
Stanley Kubrick is a genius! There was nothing he could not possibly do! Sci-fi, terror, comedy, and now a romantic tragedy! I could say this movie has the best cinematography I had ever seen, nearly 90% of the scenes were like watching a painting. The whole art direction, the costumes and the whole mood was amazing. The story was great, and though many events were happening, it did flow gently and not missing any detail to show the main storyline. I just can say, this is my second favorite Kubrick film ever!
11
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
After rewatching it, I must say this is one of the greatest movies of the 70's, and of all time! One of the most influential from beginning to end, with a chilling climax that keeps you attached to your seat.
12
Stalker (1979,  Unrated)
Stalker
There it is, a great sci-fi film with no special effects at all. Beautifully shot, with some of the most amazing face-frames since Ingmar Bergman's Persona. I also loved the way most of the movie, the characters are seen from behind. Slow-paced, but that's what makes it a beautiful film, with amazing scenes.
13
A Clockwork Orange (1971,  R)
A Clockwork Orange
A perfect example when both the book and the film may be EXCELLENT! Soemthing only Stanley Kubrick with his huge imagination could have put on a movie! Malcolm McDowell is awesome as Alex DeLarge!
14
Cabaret (1972,  PG)
Cabaret
So I decided to rewatch this film, and came to the conclusion this is probably the most classic musical of the 70's, perfectly portraying 30's Berlin during a post war crisis and when NAZI party began to arouse. With a premise that life is a cabaret, in which people look for some getaways to stop worrying for just a little time when all around is chaotic.
A landmark (in my opinion) in open-minded cinema, with some amazing shots by Bob Fosse and amazing performance by Liza Minnelli as one of the most intriguing female characters in cinema. Oh and the main theme has to be one of the most popular songs in film history!
15
Pink Flamingos (1972,  NC-17)
Pink Flamingos
A milestone of underground films. One of the sickest films ever made. A mockery to American middle classes and what people are willing to do to be noticed. Yes, this movies is crap, but everyone must love this crap!
16
Young Frankenstein (1974,  PG)
Young Frankenstein
Hilarious!! A perfect spoof of the classic horror tale of the Monster created by Dr. Frankenstein. With great performances, specially by the genius Gene Wilder. Possibly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, a true classic in entertainment!

So many great scenes here, a must see for Halloween!

One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975,  R)
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
Truly deserved the 5 big awards for best film, actor, actress, director and script. A strong film in every aspect, shocking and beautiful.

Eraserhead (1977,  Unrated)
Eraserhead
An all-time beginners-surreal film. Very weird and actually scary, Lynch placed himself in the map of great directors with this one. The characters were very bizarre, the lady with the big cheeks freaked me out!
Suddenly blackening the screen was a great resource Lynch used, because every time this black screen appeared, I was scared of what new weird image would pop-out in front of me.
Lynch explored with this one to start a prolific career in surreal cinema.

Cría Cuervos (Cria!) (Raise Ravens) (1976,  Unrated)
Cría Cuervos (Cria!) (Raise Ravens)
Really amazing film that introduces itself into the mind of a disturbed child. Ana makes a great performance as the disturbed child, and is always great to see Geraldine Chaplin in these kind of movies. A must see of the Spanish cinema.
22
Höstsonaten (Autumn Sonata) (1978,  R)
Höstsonaten (Autumn Sonata)
Though it seems as a little movie with little amount of characters and settings, it is so powerful and intense that surprised me, really. The characters are so deeply developed that seem as real people with real emotions and memories. Acting is first class, one of Ingrid Bergman's greatest performances. Liv Ullmann is great as always. The script is perfect also. Another Bergman masterpiece.
23
Harold and Maude (1971,  PG)
Harold and Maude
Maude has to be one of the most extraordinaire and interesting characters ever put on film.
24
Jaws (1975,  PG)
25
Viskningar och Rop (Cries and Whispers) (1972,  R)
Viskningar och Rop (Cries and Whispers)
Also a movie that explores human dramas and those stories we would like to tear apart and never remember. The use of the red color is perfect, the red-fades are a genius work. A really great movie, another one by Bergman!
26
The Exorcist (1973,  R)
27
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975,  R)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Bizarre, but one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a while! A movie that can't be rated as any other movie, because it isn't anything like "any other movie"! Just,, enjoy the ride and let the film transport you to "Transylvania".
28
National Lampoon's Animal House (1978,  R)
National Lampoon's Animal House
lol, fratboys are so dumb. One of those movies that became a milestone for the genre, inspiring a lot of movies throughout the way. Though it seems a little bit stupid at times, its cultural value and influence makes this a comedy gem.
29
Kramer vs. Kramer (1979,  PG)
30
Scener ur ett äktenskap (Scenes from a Marriage) (1973,  PG)
Scener ur ett äktenskap (Scenes from a Marriage)
Pretty good film by Bergman, though not one of my favorites... Highlights the complications of marriage, love and sex.. and when they're joined together. With a great-wicked writing that maintains you entertained the 2 hours 40 min and a great performance by beautiful Liv Ullmann. A good movie to watch, but not one of my favorites...

Andy Warhol's Frankenstein (Flesh for Frankenstein) (1974,  R)
Andy Warhol's Frankenstein (Flesh for Frankenstein)
Amazingly bad performances from almost everyone, dumb writting, but is so sick and fucked-up that you forget about its flaws. It was kinda funny -in a weird way- to see a liver hanging from a spear... See it if you like to see a tragedy in which guts are scattered all over the place.
32
The Omen (1976,  R)
The Omen
Sometimes the film seems to go a bit out of contorl, but overall a great horror classic with some really remarkable scenes and good performances!
33
Carrie (1976,  R)
Carrie
Strange Hitchcockian film that makes one of the most famous horror movies of the 70's. With a great performance by Sissy Spacek, but so many flaws and things I would have changed... Still very good, entertaining... but I felt really sorry for Carrie...
34
Grease (1978,  PG)
35
Love Story (1970,  PG)
Love Story
Predictable and corny, but so simple and sincere you just want to hug the movie lol. Seriously, a beautiful little film, though I didn't liked it a lot, I think the impact in 1970 was huge.

Robin Hood (1973,  G)
