I don't care what anyone says; I really, really like this film. It's been one of the few films that I have consistently liked the same since I saw it. Before my Flixster days this was my second favourite film of all time, but back then I had no clue about what was an excellent film. This film isn't amazing in any sense of the word, but I still think it's great.

The film manages to hold at least MY attention and interest for it's entire runtime anyway. I was rarely bored when watching this not once looking at my watch something that so many horrors that are just plain unscary make me do frequently. Some of the scenes in this film are plain disturbing if seeing it for the first time but still shocking after you've seen any more than that. The idea of the film is ludicrous but that could be said about ANY horror film that has ever been made.

I AM a Naomi Watts fan in some respects, she's one of the more talented actresses out there so I liked her in the lead role. The supporting cast although relatively unknown do their job pretty solidly I guess, nothing special but they worked fine.

I think Verbinski did a great job translating the Japanese original film to the west, it's a very hard thing to do, it works seldomly. This film will always remain a firm favourite of mine, it's maybe not a classic in any way but it's still a film which I enjoy watching evey few months or so.

I don't understand what people don't like about this film. I feel it was the most accurate adaption of a game that there has ever been apart from the fact that they use a woman instead of a man. The story is very compelling, and keeps you both scared and entertained at the same time. Radha Mitchell I think is a highly under-rated actress and she pulls this performance off very well. What did let it down was the cliched idea of a scary little girl, ever since the Ring it has been used too many times, and this is no exception. It is also a little on the long side for this type of film so it's not a film to be watched too late at night. I found it very scary at every point and turn making it a very decent horror.
