The Dark Knight (2008, PG-13)
Hands down the best movie of the year and the best Batman movie made to date. Heath Ledger kills (figuratively and literally) as the Joker, his performance could not have portrayed the Joker more accurately unless this had been an R rated movie. As the movie went on his methods got more and more depraved but I couldn't not look away. Christian Bales Batman was again superb, this time around having to deal with a lot of guilt and trying to figure out the direction Batman was going to take in Gotham's future. The direction they took Dent in the movie was perfect as was his look. |

Tropic Thunder (2008, R)
This has to be the funniest comedy of the summer. As soon as the fake previews started at the beginning I was laughing. I liked this movie because it used an original formula and poked fun at Hollywood while having the most cameo's of any movie I can think of. And Tom Cruise played the perfect role for a crazy person. |
