fear dot com (FeardotCom)
After owning this movie for years I actually finally managed to sit through it and it really wasn't worth the effort. The acting is horrible and it's just a cheap mash up of all the recent J-horror remakes. It really deserves some recognition for its ability to make me fall asleep though.

The Descent
This movie was brilliant. It had me jumping from sheer terror to sadness to amazement at the brilliant setting and storyline. I'm definatly glad I saw the UK ending much better suited than the American edit.
90
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984,  R)
91
House of Wax (2005,  R)
92
20 30 40 (2004,  Unrated)
20 30 40
Although I've never been one for films aimed at females I found this one unique and surprisingly touching. Sylvia Chang was brilliant as the unlucky in love middle aged Lilly. But Angelica Lee is defiantly the standout with her touching performance of Xiao Jie. Her flirtatious relationship with her singing partner highlights how gay and straight relationships suffer the same struggles. I would recommend this film to anyone who wants a unique look at relationships for women in the modern world.
93
Dumplings (Gaau ji) (2004,  Unrated)
Dumplings (Gaau ji)
Definitely disturbing, a must see if you enjoyed the short version in 3 extremes as it makes much more sense and is therefor more enjoyable. Miriam Yeung is brilliant in this film clearly very talented.
94
Snow White: A Tale of Terror (Snow White in the Black Forest) (1997,  R)
Snow White: A Tale of Terror (Snow White in the Black Forest)

Decoys 2: Alien Seduction (2006,  R)
98
Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes (2006,  Unrated)
Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes
Doug Bradley was brilliant as was the rest of the cast. However the CG should have never been put in as it is at such a crappy standard that it almost ruins the movie. As usual Pumpkinhead looks brilliant.
99
Brick (2006,  R)
100
Candyman (1992,  R)
Candyman
A favorite since I was a kid. Still pretty gory and original even by todays standards. Plus I'm a sucker for anything by Clive Barker.

102
Anatomy (Anatomie) (2000,  R)
Anatomy (Anatomie)
I really enjoyed this thriller although I usually don't like them. Potente is as charming as ever. The first dissection scene is particularily haunting. Casual conversation while dissecting a live person anyone?

104
Cherry Falls (2000,  R)
Cherry Falls
This movie is really crazy but thats what makes it so hilariously enjoyable.

Black Snake Moan
This movie was a surprise for me I really enjoyed its unique take on the effects of abuse. Ricci was brilliant as always and Jackson really stole the show in a movie that is different to what he usually does. I really liked the way it was two lost souls healing and helping each other.

Disco Pigs (2003,  Unrated)
Disco Pigs
This movie is pure brilliance. Murphy shines in his role as Pig pre 28 Days Later fame. It took me a while to understand the heavy accents. But once I did the story was really rewarding. A story about obsessive love told in a completely original fashion.
119
Requiem for a Dream (2000,  R)

Three...Extremes (Saam gaang yi) (2005,  R)

Ikisudama (Shadow of the Wraith) (Campus Ghost Stories)
Although the effects were pretty shoddy I did enjoy the stories which made this an interesting watch. The use of color to represent emotions was also an interesting feature. The movie was pretty average but fun none the less.
173
My Own Private Idaho (1991,  R)

Tomie: Replay
I had never seen or even heard of the Tomie films until I picked this up. An interesting take on the vengeful women which is so commonly used in Japanese cinema and theater. It is also a unique commentary on the negative effects of lust. Hopefully I can find the others in the series.
187
Dark City (1998,  R)
188
Jimmy Zip (1999,  R)
Jimmy Zip
Pretty unique coming of age story. Fletcher was brilliant as Jimmy.
189
Stephanie Daley (2006,  R)
Stephanie Daley
Disturbingly Raw and honest with its subject matter Stephanie Daley treads where few movies have been before. Although it moves at a slow pace it is worth the wait just to see how the two lead characters lives connect. It also shows how destructive denial can really be. Swinton and Tamblyn are powerful in their roles and carry the films brutal subject matter.

Seom (The Isle) (2000,  Unrated)
Seom (The Isle)
Beautifully disturbing film about the painful relationship between a mute girl and a man on the run. Although the film moves at a slow pace it kept me interested. I often find the films that have the least dialog can be the most intriguing.
207
Hellraiser - Bloodline (1996,  R)
208
Sherrybaby (2006,  R)

American Dreamz (2006,  PG-13)
217
Suburban Mayhem (2006,  Unrated)
Suburban Mayhem
Katrina is brilliantly played by Emily Barclay as she progresses from master manipulator to psychopath. The fact that the film is filmed like a documentary at times adds to the realism of this self proclaimed true story apparently based on domestic violence in Australian suburbs.
218
2046 (2005,  R)

The United States of Leland (2004,  R)
The United States of Leland
Ryan Gosling is clearly a true talent and this movie shows it. It's hard not to feel sympathy for Leeland even though you know what he has done is completely wrong due to Goslings portrayal.

American Wedding (2003,  R)

May (2003,  R)
May
This movie was pure brilliance. Angela Bettis is beautifully creepy. It makes me sad to think that she was so desperate for a friend. What she did to get one is almost understandable.
241

242

243
The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2) (2007,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2)
The first remake was good this movie isn't. The mutants were uninteresting and pointless they have become torturers instead of hunters. The characters were also pointless just because someone has a child doesn't mean I'm going to care if they live or die. Let's not even start on the pointless rape scene. Overall I was glad when this finished even though it felt like half a movie. The only reason it gets a couple of stars is for the awesome opening.

A strange look at the consequences of celebrity and the culture surrounding it. At times the film becomes confusing as it blurs reality with fantasy but this often makes Gray Evans a more relatable character.

The Door in the Floor
A sad and touching look at the effects of loss on a once happy family. As Eddie, a summer assistant for writer Ted is pulled into an affair with Ted's wife Marion the impact of learning the family's secrets becomes more severe as the film draws to its conclusion. The most prominent feature of the film is the fact it exposes the effects of loss on different people. From a Father trying to move on, to a mother drowning in grief and a child suffering due to events she wasn't even alive to witness. Although a slow moving film its events stayed in my mind long after I watched it.

Stunning to look at and the actors were terrific. I was absolutely enchanted by the beginning and couldn't wait to see the rest of the story play out. The perfume induced orgy was kind of off putting but the ending definitely made up for it.

Interesting and unique Tomie is a very different take on the traditional Japanese Vengeful female. The acting is terrific and the characters stories are really what is at the heart of this very different horror.

358
The Living and the Dead (2007,  Unrated)
The Living and the Dead
A slow film built around very unique characters. Leo Bill was incredible as James and really held the film together, preventing it from becoming boring in slower parts. The intertwining of the Fathers and sons stories brought mystery into the erratic plot and served to highlight the sad downfall of both characters. The setting was beautiful although it was evident that the mansion was an old hospital this added character to the film. A real character piece that is hard to place a genre on this film is best suited for those who don't mind the unconventional.

Great movie that was well written and acted. Although really depressing to think some people actually participate in the illegal arms trade. I liked the way it had a balance between the humour and horror which made it easier to take in the overall more depressing story.

Steal Me (2005,  Unrated)
Steal Me
A compelling film that illustrates the fact that life has no quick fixes. The film centers around Jake who is a runaway searching for his Mother. He is taken in by a local family he idolizes. Jake is given the opportunity to change his life but can't seem to resist the urge to fall back into old patterns. The truly interesting aspect of this film is the character development. From the Mother slowly opening up to Jake to Jake himself who seems to always be outside of relationships and unable to fully immerse himself in his new life. Steal Me forgets cliche endings and typical runaway storylines and in the process creates an extremely engaging and unique experience.
409
Clean (2005,  R)
Clean
Maggie Cheung is so powerful in this film and she delivers her performance in three languages. Although her performance is the main reason to see Clean the storyline holds up while being slightly cliche. Clean moves at a slow pace but it is well worth the reward if you stick with it.
