Hero (2004,  PG-13)
Hero
An amazingly visual movie that takes a surprising turn towards the end. Just when you think you know what it's about it goes in a differant direction. I do suggest you watch this one with subtitles because the voice overs don't do it justice. The fights will look a little bit familar, but there is enough differance in style that it manages to stand on it's own making each fight unique. The scene on the lake is one of my favorites except for the music is a little...ear piercing I'll say. My favorite scene would be the fight in the golden forest between the two girls. The coloring used is great. Story wise it moves a tad slow after you've seen it more then once, but the "twist" is a nice change of direction and it all comes together at the end. Li, Zhang, and Leung stood ouit the most and I hope to see Leung and Zhang in more movies. This film defintly proves that there are Heros on both sides of wars.

The Chronicles of Riddick (2004,  Unrated)
The Chronicles of Riddick
UNRATED DIRECTOR'S CUT REVIEWED:
Jumps genres perfectly! Make a perfect action film and is VERY well done. Diesel perfects the Riddick character and brings depth and meaning to him. He gives an amazing performance as do all the cast. I didn't spot performance that was awry at all Linus Roach, Karl Urban, Judi Dench, Yorick van Wageningen all get kudos for becoming their characters. This film is just plain cool and very well written. Most of the things that come out of Riddick's mouth you can't help put smile about. "I'm just passing through." will be one of my favorite movie lines for awhile to come. This film is a must see and a rarity among sequels better then the first.

Bubba Ho-Tep (2003,  R)
Bubba Ho-Tep
How do you describe a film that is indescribable? This film is funny, touching, scary, suspenceful, and dramatic all rolled into one! Topped off with susational performances by Campbell and Davis it's just plain fun absurdity to watch! Campbell is very believable as Elvis and as an old man too which takes some skill to not look laughable. Davis also gives a believable performance as the black JFK and is the perfect paitring to Campbell. The scarab effects kinda suck and it moves a tad slow yes the ending is worth the wait. It's one of those lesser known films that deserves a lot more attention. So thanks to the filmakers for this one. Thank you very much.

The Lost World - Jurassic Park (1997,  PG-13)
The Lost World - Jurassic Park
Probably my favorite Jurassic Park film. Say what you want about Goldblum, but he is hilarious and makes this film what it is. He gives the perfect one liners when you least expect it and adds a nice touch of humor to the story. Vaughn is also a pleasant change of cast, and thankfully isn't playing his usual character. The acting is good all around, and nobody has any bad eyesights when it comes to reacting to CGI dinos, which tends to distract me a lot. the story is pretty simple, get people to island, see good dinos, someone gets eaten, try to survive, the end. Simple, straight forward and it works. It does start to get long after they leave the island, but thankfully the scenes in San Diego are fairly short. There are some beautiful suspense scenes here, especailly those involving the raptors. I hate rators. So yes, something survived, but so does the franchise.
5
King Arthur (2004,  PG-13)
King Arthur
It's the now classic Bruckheimer production set to the amazing musical score of Hans Zimmer. Director does an awesome job capturing the characters and feel of what's going on in the movie. I defintly want to see more from this guy. Have to say the Director's Cut is pretty intense and satisfying. Non of the story is lost and the movie isn't really dragged on at all. Acting is amazing here with beautiful performances by Owen, Winstone, Mikkelsen, and Gruffud. Knightly is touch and go though. She just seems a little stiff in her performance next to every one else. The fighting is very well played, with camera shots not being too blurry, so you can't tell what's going on, but your able to see plenty of detail and all the realism. For a great period action film aim your sights on King Arther and don't feel afraid to buy the DIRECTOR'S CUT.
6
I Am Legend (2007,  PG-13)
I Am Legend
Will Smith's latest and greatest is just that, one of his greatest. His acting stands out the most in this movie, because it is superb! The final scene in the video store is him at his best and impressed me the most. The story is cool and moves a little slow at times, but when it comes to the last hour, everything moves fast. The scares and jump out of your seat moments are many, but sometimes far between. Still it managed to scare me plenty of times. A lot of people hate the ending, but it's one of my favorite moments in the film. A great way to end it. If your expecting Smith's newest action packed movie, then you'll probably be disappointed, because there is more story and scare in this one. In my opinion, this movie has made Smith into a legend.
7
Stuck On You (2003,  PG-13)
Stuck On You
A brilliant comedy with heart and humor! Everything from the acting, to the story, to the jokes is all golden! I actually laughed out loud during most of this movie, it was that good. Kinnear and Damon play perfectly off each other and are very believable at being brothers. Cher also shows her great comediac talent and is hilarious as herself. The cameos are great here as well, even though they are all brief. The story is well written, being both funny and dramatic at times. This is one of the best feel good movies, that actually makes you feel good.
8
Dogma (1999,  R)
Dogma
A hilarious movie for anybody, unless your easily affended when it comes to religion then you'll want to stay away. Still kudos and three cheers to Kevin Smith for making a great film the raises a lot of questions about religion and man kind, without even trying. For being a comedy Smith has amazing insight into human nature, giving us real-like characters in memorable moments. Kudos to everyone involved, because they made a genuinely funny film, that quietly makes a few interesting points. Smith is a great actor, director, writer, and will hopefully make even more great films.
9
Holes (2003,  PG)
Holes
A great movie that follows the book very closely. It's one of my favorites for a perfect story, cast, and the pacing of the movie itself.
The acting is great from all involved. The kids themselves are especially great and could stand on there own. The adult actors through the whole story are excellent too with Arquette, Vioght, Nelson, and Weaver giving their best.
The story might be hard to follow at times, because it does a lot of jumping around from the past, to the present, and back too a completely differant past. Still it all comes together in the end, leaving no holes, but the ones already dug. The only bad thing were the bad CGI lizards that make a couple appearances. Thankfully they're not there a whole lot.
This movie is defintly worth seeing many times and is a good family movie and should be satisfactory for fans of the book.

"You girl scouts want to hear a story. Once apon a time there was a magical place that never rained... The end."

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975,  PG)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
This comedy masterpiece is the best example of the right amount of every type of comedy can be made into one film. A great and entertaining if you like shear lunacy sometimes and great comeidic timing the next. The acting is great by all, especially since all the cast play multiple parts, it's sometrimes hard to tell whose who. The jokes are great and keep being funny till the end, though sometimes you have to listen closely, because most of the time the jokes come at you fast and in long conversations. This cult classic lives up to it's hype and you'll laugh out loud or just shake your head sometimes, even though it includes quite a bit of british humor the comedy is still easy to laugh at. I also suggest you get the DVD, because the interviews, behind the scenes, and other bonus features are just as funny as the film. That's my review, so go away you sons of a silly persons before I taunt you a second time.
11
Scream 2 (1997,  R)
Scream 2
Just as much fun as the first with a great story and the same tongue in cheek humor that made the first so enjoyable.
Great characters protrayed by some great acting from the cast. Arquette, Campbell, Cox, O'Connell, Kennedy, and Olyphant all do a fantastic job of living up to the first one.
Like I said the story is just as good as the humor and thrills continue on in this sequel as they poke fun at the horror genre (and themselves) while experiencing it. Though don't get me wrong, it's not all laughs. The funny stuff just comes from clever writing and the film should in no way be looked at as a comedy. There are some great serious moments and some great suspense moments all mixed into the movie revolving around characters you care about. Which is a big thing for me, cause in a horror movie if I don't care about the character's survival then what's the point in watching?
Yet again it wasen't overly scary for me, but it was a bit more suspenseful then the first. The entertainment value is still there though.
Craven masterfully brings Williamson's clever story to life and creates a sequel that is worth watching time and time again. Even if it's just for the great scene with O'Connell singing.

"Empire Strikes Back. Better story, improved effects."
"Not a sequel, part of a trilogy, completely planned."
"I like the little furry things."
"Ewoks? They blow."

Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
A great, smart slasher movie that I can watch time and time again.
Excellent story that has some great tongue in cheek humor and never takes itself too seriously. Filled with great characters (which is a must have for me in any horror/slasher/thriller movie) and great actors too protray them. Lillard, Kennedy, Ulrich, Arquette, Barrymore, McGowan, Cox, and Campbell are all superb in their roles though they do border on cheesy sometimes, but the movie is good enough to look past it.
I love the Williamson's story that mixed clever writing, that any movie fan can appreciate, with some laughs and good twists and turns towards the end. Don't expect this movie to be a comedy though and don't take it too seriously either because it's somewhere in the middle. I also never really found the movie to be really scary at all, but it has a lot of entertainment value.
It's my favorite "scary" movie that I recommend to everyone and is worth the watch for some good scares and a few laughs too.

"There are certain RULES that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie. For instance, number one: you can never have sex. BIG NO NO! BIG NO NO! Sex equals death, okay? Number two: you can never drink or do drugs. The sin factor! It's a sin. It's an extension of number one. And number three: never, ever, ever under any circumstances say, "I'll be right back." Because you won't be back."
"I'm gettin' another beer, you want one?"
"Yeah, sure."
"I'll be right back!"

Mallrats (1995,  R)
Mallrats
Sometimes I wonder if Smith's Clerks movie over shadow his othe films. I consider this his funniest movie with a better cast. London and Lee just deliver the hilarious monologues better then the CLERKS guys do. Lee gives a star performance here and really does stand as a hero for slackers. The story is pretty simple, but it adds for so much chaos and funny situations that it passes. Plus we get more Jay and Silent Bob without getting overdosed from them. Why some consider this his worst I might never now, but I think he shows his best here and makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch the Easter Bunny get beat up. And that's what gives a comedy it's staying power.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Indianna Jones returns for another(and greater) adventure. This movie out does the previous two because not only storwise, but cemestry between characters as well. Ford and Connery are great together and a lot of fun to watch. Their exchanges are genuinly funny. The effects aren't to numerous here and are ok. A disappointing shot when a character falls into a chasim though always bugs me when I see it. The acting is well done by both major and minor players. It's well shot and doesn't move slow very often. My favorite out of the 3(soon to be 4) and I suggest you watch because another great thing about it is you don't have to have seen the first two to know what's going on. It defintly worth your time!
15
King Kong (2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
Once again Jackson has given us another film loaded witha great story and characters. Still if you don't like long movies then you probably won't fine this one entrancing enough, but it's still action packed right when it starts slowing down. Amazing special effects and the T-Rex scene is amazing!
16
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Amazing! Depp and Rush steal the show here, the story though simple is fun just the same. The real treat are the secondary characters who are all brilliantly protrayed and make this movie what it is! Fanatastic ship to ship battles and sword fighting, amazing special effects, and brilliant filming make this a MUST see!
17
1408 (2007,  PG-13)
1408
Very few movies manage to make me jump at all, but this one suceeded in getting a few decent scares out of me. It's an amazing, suspenseful film that has that great scary and unnerving feel to it, throughout the whole movie! It turns an ordinary hotel room, that could be anywhere, into the scariest place on earth! I love the little bits with the radio and the window. Some of the little things in the movie turn out to be the scariest and used for the maximum effect. It's proably THE best Stephen King story adaptation though it is obviously longer and has more to it then the short story in EVERYTHING'S EVENTUAL. It beats THE SHINING out of "Best Haunted Hotel Movie" easily in my book.
Acting is great by all, especially Cusack who shines as the leading man all the time. Jackson plays up the "scary one minute, friendly hotel manager the next" perfectly and is great for the short time he is actually in the movie.
It's got a good satsfying ending that is neither happy nor sad, so it's perfect for me.

DIRECTOR'S CUT REVIEW: The director's cut seems the same for most of the movie until about halfway into it where more added bits pop up, including a cooler scene in the air duct that I wish had made it into the original cut. The alternate ending is less then pleasing though, but props to the guys who advertised it. It's not the same as in the commercial! So if you liked the original version then this is worth the rent, because the movie doesn't move any slower. It just doesn't make it better.

It's made it's way into being one of my favorite slightly scary, defintly freaky movies and I highly recommend it. You might not jump in your seat, but you'll defintly think twice before staying the night at a hotel again. I gurantee it.

"General manager claims that the phantom in room interferes..."
"I have *never* used the word "phantom.""
"Oh, I'm sorry. Uh, spirit? Specter?"
"Whatever's in 1408 is nothing like that."
"Then what is it?"
"It's an evil f****** room."

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000,  PG-13)
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
An interestin interpretation of Homer's THE ODESSY, but still entertaining. The story is fun and leans you entertained while moving at a good pace adding humor and wit in for good measure. The acting is well done by all, especially by Clooney, Turturro, and Nelson. The music is fun and fits well into all the right places and adds to the film. My only complaint about the music is they sing "You Are My Sunshine" way too many times! It has the feel of an indie film and that makes it all the better. This movie is good, clean, entertainment and well worth checking out wherever you find it.
19
Stranger Than Fiction (2006,  PG-13)
Stranger Than Fiction
An entirely differant movie then what Ferrell usually does, and shines in his role. He proves he can do more then comedy and should. The acting is done amazing by all especially Ferrel and Thompson. The story is imaginative and thought provoking, very will written. Visually it's very mind abosbing especially by what the filmakers call the G.U.I., which is what Crick's thought are on screen. Their fun to watch and entertaining with what they do with them. The movie moves a little slow, but has it's funny moments, it's touching moments, and it's sad moments. Everything combines into an amazing story and a very entertaining piece of fiction.
20
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
This one seems to have the same feel as the first and doesn't suffer from the silliness the second one had at awkward times. Still it was obviously rushed through in order to have a completed script, cause of some of the obsurd bits and a slight disappointing Davy Jones story. But you need to see this film multiple times to get it and get the rightfeel for the characters and you'll understand why they do what they do. That I think is what the writer's captured perfectly. Who their characters are. After a couple showings you'll learn to like it, because there are so many good parts and a massive fight scene at the end that takes you breath away! The last 30 minutes of the film are the best and have the right feel and fun to the whole series.
Unfortunately it has some problems. Don't have a cool Chinese pirate played by Chow Yun Fat in the movie and have him do almost zero amount of fighting on screen. We need to see some cool martial arts sword play!
Also the BIG Calypso reveal is so corny and over the top, that you'll just roll your eyes. It should been done differant and not like some old B movie.
Fear not though, there is some good on the horizon. Knightly shows some great acting chops this go around and impressed me greatly. Depp of course captures the almost now insane Sparrow in his usual hilarious fashion. Bloom, though won't be winning any Oscars anytime soon, still does a decent job and works well with his costars, especially Skarsgard. Rush, Davenport, Skarsgard, Hollander, and all the other secondary charcters give grea performances and don't get overshadowed by the lead cast.
The special effects are top notch and you will be blown away by the end scene and laugh at the Hultiple Jacks bits.
AT WORLD'S END is a movie you'll learn to like if your not sure about it at first though you'll have to devout some time to it because of how long it is. It's worth your time and is a great ride.

"The King and his men stole the Queen from her bed /And bound her in her bones./ The seas be ours and by the powers/ Where we will, we'll roam. Yo ho, all hands, hoist the colours high/ Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!/ Yo ho, haul together, hoist the colours high/ Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!"
21
Disturbia (2007,  PG-13)
Disturbia
REAR WINDOW was nothing like this. And that's a good thing. Most remakes are complete crap, but this one is surprisingly differant. An amazingly well written suspense/thriller does just what it promises. The acting is solid and Shia LaBeouf is proving he will be an amazing adult actor. Well shot and filmed it holds the right atmosphere that leaves you in suspense. They do "borrow" a couple tricks though and you will automatically think "Heres Johnny!" at least once, even if you haven't seen THE SHINING. The music score also made this film enjoyable and adds the right feel to the movie. It moves along at a fast pace, and even though it doesn't get very suspesneful until toward the end, the rest of the movie moves along well and you won't be bored. All and all, this is a movie well worth the watch.
22
Ghost Rider (2007,  PG-13)
Ghost Rider
Marvel's latest and greatest action hero movie! The story is great and acting is solid. Special effects are breathtaking especially when you first see his bike. A couple of the fake looking sets was the only thing that bothered me here.
23
Hellboy (2004,  PG-13)
Hellboy
Amazing stoy and special effects! The acting is brilliant! It's both funny and action packed at the same time!
24
Rescue from Gilligan's Island (1978,  Unrated)
Rescue from Gilligan's Island
A movie that feels like a fun long version of the television show. Sure everyone looks a lot older, especially the Professer, but their still the same old castaways as before. Except for Judith Baldwin who does a good job of making Ginger an airhead, but I never got that impression of Ginger from the show as being a complete space cadet. I would have prefered the original Ginger instead. The acting is very TV movie, but that adds to it's likability. If your a fan of the show then this "hour long tour" will bring a smile to your face and all those nostalgia feelings to.
25
Be Kind Rewind (2008,  PG-13)
Be Kind Rewind
A cool movie that all amatuer filmakers will love. You'll get the creativity. You'll get the passion involved when making your own film. You'll get the characters. Everyone else might not get the humor, because their isn't as much as I thought would be. Instead I got a very cool inspirational story that throws in some laughs, curtosy of Black and Def. Acting is great by everybody and thankfully Black isn't his usual loud, rockstar self, but a bit more nerdy and subdued. Def is his same old stiff self who looks like he's accidently there, but it's what makes him watchable and laughable. Glover also gives a great funny performance. The story wavers on believeablity in a couple places but otherwise holds up. The most fun scene is the remaking montage. It's cool to recognize a few of your favorite films and how they brilliantly remake them. So far warning, that this movie isn't full of laughs, but when it's time to laugh you really do because the timing is perfect. So you won't just laugh, but also be inspired.
26
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006,  R)
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)
A seemless movie that flows from one moment to the next and a truely unique story to go with it. It is indeed a fairy tale for grown ups, and a beautiful one at that. Amazing acting by Baquero and Jones pulls off the creepy critters again flawlessly. It's a film both suspenseful and dramatic that only has (maybe) one or two slow moments. The subtitles don't distract and thankfully your still able to catch everything on the screen and read everything at the same time. So it's defintly worth the watch, just don't get to "lost" in Ofellia's world.
27
Sunshine (2007,  R)
Sunshine
A wondeful film that surpasses Boyle's 28 Days movies. Acting is superb by all and for these kind of movies a flawless performance is a must or you loose all serious and respect from the audience. Story is great and well written with good character drama and great subtle twists that you might not pick up till the end of the film. The end result you kind of see coming, but as for who lives and who dies there are some good surprises there. Special effects are great and having everything baithed in light during most of film it's would be hard work to do convincingly, but they pulled it off. Very well done and my only regret is I missed out on seeing this one on the big screen. So if you wake up one morning and it's a particularly beautiful day, you'll probably think of this movie.
28
Dragonheart (1996,  PG-13)
Dragonheart
One of my favorites. Great story, with a cool twist on the medevil/dragon tale. Begins good and ends very satisfactory. It throws in action, characters, and a fine mix of humor to be perfect. Acting is superb! Connery is the perfect choice as the voice of Draco and brings the character to life and gives him personality.Thewlis is also a very believable villian and has an edge of creepiness that makes the character perfect. Quiad, even though his accent is sometimes very heavy, still gives a great and believable performance. Postlethwaite is downright hilarious, but also gives a strong performance at more serious moments as the monk and shines whenever on screen. Meyer also gives a good show as one of her first roles, standing up against some of these seasoned actors. Special effects, though great for there time, don't stand as well these days like JURASSIC PARL does. There are some bad spots, but thankfully they aren't on screen for long. The film moves a tad slow if you've seen it a few times, but first time viewers won't be too bored.
29
Doom (2005,  R)
Doom
A video game based movie that was surprisingly fun to watch. If you like guns, explosions, and alien monsters killing people left and right. It's a funy story with good characters most of the time, but they all give good performances. The story is pretty basic, but includes some good character drama. There are some good twists and character developements, made strong by good acting all around. The only thing I didn't like was when they go into first person mode towards the end of the movie. It's cool, but halfway through it starts to get old. There are a couple of good scares, but in the end it's all about the guns. For a movie based on a video game it's just a fun, mindless violence movie.
NOTE: The unrated. extended edition is just as good.

Stand by Me (1986,  R)
Stand by Me
A cute movie, but not reall scary, funny, or heart warming. It's a little bit of everything reall with a couple of cool fun moments. The train track scene was probably the best in the whole movie, but the whole film is filmed really well and set to a good music score. However the most impressive performance in the movie I have to say was down by O'Connell and Sutherland. O'Connell does a grerat job for being in his first film and is funny to watch. Sutherland makes the perfect greaser and personifies the bad teen role and you can't help but smile when you see him on screen. Still the movie moves slow at some parts and it's mostly a feel good film. I liked, but it just isn't my favorite film. Theres nothing to dislike about this film, so you'll enjoy it when you wacth it.
31
Dead Silence (2007,  R)
Dead Silence
A movie with a lot of potiental, that falss short in spots, but succeeds in others! First my problems with it-One of the dumbest main characters to appear in the horror gengre is in this film. Yes I know these movies don't feature the smartest people, but I kept groaning every time this guy was on screen. Don't get me wrong though, Kwanten did a great job with the character. Also the ending after the shocker I didn't like, for me movies need to end on a happier note, the bad guys defeated, the good guys win, etc. ect. And this film doesn't do that, so I was a tad disappointed after an awesome secondary ending that left me very shocked. The first half of the movie moves a little slow, but the rest of the film gathers speed to, like I said, a slightly disappointing ending. So we move on to the good stuff-the story is classic and the scare factor is the max if your afraid of dolls, puppets, clowns, or the dark. The film will the leave you holding your breath and on the edge of your seat most of the time. The film is well shot and uses it's enviroment to add to the scare factor and sets the mood perfectly. The acting is good and kudos goes to Wahlberg, who is hilarious and has the best lines in the film, and to Roberts who gives a great performance as Mary Shaw. The film has some very good scenes, that otherwise wouldn't be scary, are filmed amazingly. Especially the flashback scene. So even though this film has it's flaws it's still a good scare film, but remember! Don't scream.......

Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz
Much better then Shaun of the Dead and one of my favorite action/comedies. The story is great! And I loved the red herring plot along with the actual reason for the murders. It's a lot more sinister. I also love all the added detail that you don't pick up on till you watch the bonus features on the DVD. It really adds to the movie and the story. Like SOTD the story gets some good detail and doesn't suffer cause of the comedy parts. The jokes are funny even if there are some gaps in between them, but those gaps are filmed with cool gun fights, smart dialogue, and funny "serious" scenes. The acting is great and I love all the cameos that you'll have to watch for. Pegg manages to play a differant character from Shaun, but Frost still had a lot of similarities with Ed. Broadbent was funny and Dalton made a great villain.
If you have to watch this film for one reason, then let that reason be the gun fight at the end of the film. It's amazing! This is one of my all time favorites and I hope the three of them make something again soon!

"So what made you want to become a policeman?"
"Officer."
"What made you want to become a policeman-officer?"

Stay Alive (2006,  PG-13)
Stay Alive
An amazing storyline that leads up to a slightly disappointing ending. The ending just didn't have that right feel to it. Everything else about the film is brilliant! The story, though the plot seems like a rip off at first, is very imaginative and nicely paced. The characters are well written and it's hard to tell who will go next. Don't expect a frighting film though because this film isn't all that scary. A few surprises yes, but major scares, no. Still the story is entertaining so it doesn't reall need the scares at all to move the film along. Acting was done very fell, Jimmi Simpson and Franki Muniz shine in their roles. Effects look like those from a video game cutscene which makes them all the better for this movie. See this movie with any video game junkies you know and they'll love it.
UNRATED: DIRECTOR'S CUT DVD-Just stay away from it. All the added scenes have this terrrible unfinished look to them and gets annoying when they pop up during the film. As for the new character and subplot? It fails to add anything cooler to the story and just compicates it more. Also some of the cooler, more character driven moments of the film we're taken out which didn't make me happy at all. As well as the picture quality in the deleted scenes, the sound is off a lot too, plus the swearing added to some of the coolest lines ruins them completely. The only thing worth getting it for is it's finally explained why the countess is suddenly naked after chaining up Abigail. Other then that this DVD was no where near worth the $14.95 I spent on it. I'll just get the regular version instead.

The Frighteners (1996,  R)
The Frighteners
Before LOTR and KING KONG we had Jackson making these kind of movies. Good horror/comedies! If you've seen LOTR or KK then you'll recognize a lot of the filming style he uses here and it works well on his story telling method. The story is imaginative and well told with well written and performed characters. Fox does a great job with his role and shines in several scenes! Other cast memebers do well especially the actor's playing the ghosts. The movie has some mildly funny aspects, but only a few laugh out loud moments. Others you'll chuckle at but still enjoy. Some good frightening moments and shocks and are all filmed, timed, and scored well that increase that aspect. To some it might move a tad slow, but the pace seemed well to me without slowing down. It's a movie to wacth to be scared and amused at the same time which makes this movie gold.

The Rundown (Welcome to the Jungle) (2003,  PG-13)
The Rundown (Welcome to the Jungle)
Okay let me give you "the rundown" on this movie. IT IS AWESOME! There is nothing fantastic about the story or acting but it provides good entertainment! It's both humorous and a great action flick. There are a few moments that are cimeatic gold! The whole movie is very well shot and moves along well without being slow inbetween the action sequences. The Rock proves to be a decent actor and Walken gives another golden performance. So I'll leave you with two options. Option B is you never see this movie and spend your life wishing you had. Or optiopn A. You watch it and be entertained for fun filled, explosive two hours. Your call.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984,  PG)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Idianna Jones is back! No nazis here though as he fights these weird guys and bugs. Really BIG bugs. The story is pretty basic and not nearly as well done as the first, but still provides entertainment. The acting is done well, especially the comestry between QWuan and Ford. They play very well off each other and it shows. Special effects are okay for it's time, but not enough of them to cause any annoyance. All and all a nice action flick with all the right ingrediants. Give or take the monkey brains.

Unbreakable (2000,  PG-13)
Unbreakable
Before SIXTH SENSE and SIGNS, there was Unbreakable. And even then we should have known a master was on his way. Shymalan's films are set to entertain, have you in suspense, and leave you thinking at the end of it all. This film is no differant. The acting is solid, with both Jackson and Willis giving very good performances. The story is slightly differant then what your used to from Shymalan, but that made it all the better. The end half of the movie makes up for a slightly slow beginning. Any Shymalan fan and anyone who doesn't even know who he is, should check this movie out.

The New Guy (2002,  PG-13)
The New Guy
Tired of the same old "Teen" movie? Well this is completely differant and hilarious!! The acting and story are great while poking fun at traditional high school stories that plague the screen every other month.
39
Big Fish (2003,  PG-13)
Big Fish
This is one of my favorite of Tim Burton's and one of his best. I love the story and feel of the film! It's full of Burton's strangeness, but it doesn't overshadow, darken, or depress the film at all. Its very well acted by all, except a few one liner characters (I'm looking at YOU Miley Cyrus). Finney and McGregor are amazing. They look and seem like the same person throughout the whole film. Buscemi and Devito were also fun to watch.
But what I love about this movie is the story. It's morals, it's message, and the imaginative stories that Bloom tells. You never know what will happen next in them. The movie is a really Big Fish tale, but it still has that ring of truth about it that helps it seem real.

"A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal."

The Breakfast Club (1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
This is one of my favorite and one of the perfect movies. It's funny, has a lot of heart, great acting, cool story, everything! It's just a great movie. Acting is wondeful by Nelson, Gleeson, and Sheedy, everyone else isgood too, their just not my favorite characters. The scene where their all sitting in a circle and talking about everything and yet nothing is the best. Everyone captures their characters so well at those moments and you see what amazing acting they all have. John Hughs story and direction are perfect and thisstands as being his best film in my opinoin. This is just a movie that I'm able to watch over and over again and highly recommend it to everyone.

"Well, well. Here we are. You have exactly eight hours and fifty-four minutes to think about why you're here. You may not talk, you will not move from these seats. Any questions?"
"Yeah. Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?"

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
Ask almost any STAR WARS fan, "which STAR WARS movie is the best?" and you'll most likely get this movie as the answer. What makes it the best? Is it Kershner in the directing chair? That twist that no one in the 80s saw coming? Yoda? Boba Fett? The Han/Leia romance? The cliff hanger ending?
It's all that stuff and more. It's just perfect. The slightly darker tone to the whole movie, the ending that makes you wonder if the rebels can really win the fight help it too stand out. The story was the perfect follow up to the orignal and had some great twists during the last half of the movie. Of course most people know what those are now, so their not as shocking.
The acting also continued to be storng as the movie went on. Hamill is amazing in his final scenes at the end of the movie.
Ford and Fisher worked great together and even though the romance scenes are a tad corny, they still are very well done and Ford delivers the perfect response to "I love you."
William also fit into his suave gambler role perfectly. Mayhews and Prose (though never really seen) bring great movement to your favorite characters and Jones brings voice to the greatest villian ever and delivers the line that everyone knows perfectly. The cast is too huge to all list here, but they all do great!
The battle scenes are all incredible and will entertain no matter how many times you watch. And the special effects can still hold up for the most part by todays stantards.
SPECIAL EDITION REVIEW: The only thing that bugged me about the new version was the Emperor holo just looked too new. Didn't really connect it right to ROTJ but to the prequels instead. Otherwise people who can't stand "okay" special effects then this is the version for you.
It's my personal favorite of all the STAR WARS movie and every movie. Defintly a must see for all fans and people just starting to get into the films.

"Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?"
"I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee."
"I can arrange that. You could use a good kiss. "

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981,  PG)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Awesome movie! It's the perfect adventure movie that is a great send up to the older films only better. The stunts are amazing, especially the stuff on the truck! It's so cool, because you have no CGI there, so it's even more impressive.
The cast is excellent. Ford is the perfect hero, Allen makes a good not so distressing damsel, Rhys-Davies is a great and funny sidekick, and Freeman and Lacey are the perfect villians.
All set to the perfect score by John Williams. I mean his theme is what helps to set the tone for the whole movie.
This film is so cool, from it's iconic opening sequence to the the ending that will send some chills down your spine.
It's fun, funny, full of action and they just don't make them like this anymore really.

"Indy, why does the floor move?"
"Give me your torch. Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?"
"Asps. Very dangerous. You go first."

Robot Chicken: Star Wars (2007,  Unrated)
Robot Chicken: Star Wars
A must have for STAR WARS and Robot Chicken fans! This is hilarious from beginning to end. Right from the start it had me laughing with the AT-AT sketch and ending is with the chickens doing the star was theme is great! Cameos from Lucas, Best, Fatone and Hamill add to the hilarity. One of the best sketches is McDowell's Imperial Orientation. He does it perfectly!
The only one I didn't get was the Zuckuss Show sketch. That one just wasen't funny.
I recommend getting the DVD because the included on air bumps are just as good as the special was.
Even though it's short, the laughs are pretty continous throughout.
END OF CREDITS: Short sketch

Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted
This movie simply blew me away and became an instant favorite and my favorite film of 2008 (followed closely by WALL*E. Go figure. Anyway...). The acting was amazing and I instantly became a fan of both McAvoy and Jolie. They both had great chemstry together and worked well onscreen. Freeman brings a certain amount of class and sophistication to any character he plays and as the leader of The Fraternity it is no differant. He breaks some acting molds I kind of had him set in, especially towards the end of the movie when he takes an interesting character turn that will surprise most people. Kretschman and Common also did a fine job with their scenes as well.
Now fans of the graphic novel/comic books will be disappointed, because as I understand it they are nothing alike for the most part. So if your a fan, expect to see a differant movie all together instead of a comic book adaptation. Even though the story takes a few unbelievable turns (I'll be the first to admit that about the curving bullets and the Loom, but I thought they was a pretty cool ideas), but I still enjoyed it as an entertaining movie. We get a shoot em up movie with a style of gunfighting never seen before and that helps to make the movie stand out, thow in a good story with interesting characters and you have a strong, good film.
It's an amazing mix of fun, guns, and violence, but also an engaging story. Job well done. I have yet to be as amazed after watching a movie as I did when leaving the theater watching this one. It was that amazing for me.

"I knew your father."
"My father left the week I was born, so..."
"Your father died yesterday on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Building. Sorry."
"Look, the liquor aisle is just over there, so if you want to go..."
"Your father was one of the greatest assassins who ever lived. The man who killed him is behind you."

Tropic Thunder (2008,  R)
Tropic Thunder
Great movie and Tom Cruise has earned more respect from me. It's not something that will keep you laughing from start to finish, but it will keep a smile on your face from beginning to end. It's a got a great story and adds something differant to Hollywood while still poking fun at Hollywood itself. Speaking of hollywood it seems that everyone is in this movie. You'll have fun just wondering whose going to pop up next. Great stuff from Black and Downey Jr. was the most hysterical character in the whole movie and gave an amazing performance. Stiller played his same old self to perfection. It works for him in this movie though really. Fantastic movie, I had fun watching it.
DIRECTOR'S CUT: Nothing extra really worth seeing. The added scenes aren't really funny enough to have been added and the alternate ending on the DVD isn't as good as the original one. Still it's just a slightly longer version of the movie so it isn't bad, but not worth your extra bucks unless you really liked the orginal version.
DURING CREDITS: Beginning of credits features some funny clips that are worth sticking around and watching.

"All right fellas, we're gonna make camp, rest up. Y'all might be in for a treat.
You know back before the war broke out I was a saucier in San Antone. I bet I could collar up some of them greens, yeah, some crawfish out the paddy, yo'! Ha! I'm makin' some crabapples for dessert now, yo! Hell yeah, ha!
"Hell yeah! Ha! That's how we all talk? We all talk like dis, "suh"? Yes suh, ha! Yeah mmm-hmm get some crawfish, and some ribs, ha! Ye-aah. You're Australian! Be Australian! Excuse me, Kangaroo Jack! "
".....I get excited about my foods, man."

The Strangers (2008,  R)
The Strangers
I haven't been unerved this much since 1408. A great scary movie that gives you a satisfying ending where few succeed in doing. Acting is great The "Strangers" do a great job at being creepy and not once was I reminded of an elf when Tyler was on screen.
I hate when any movie puts the tag "Inspired by true events on it", because it ends up being as far from true events as possible. Still the story is simple, but good. I loved how the record player was used and the character given to the two main people. It helps you care about them and cheer them on.
Plenty of jumps to be had and and it also tosses in a few gore moments as well, but not many which would have ended up hurting the film.
A beautifully made film, like I said the record player was used greatly, the masks (even though their simple) and truely creepy, and you can always tell what's going on.
Best way to see this movie is by your self or with a limited number of people.
This film also gets my vote for creepiest poster I've ever seen.
49
Ghost Town (2008,  PG-13)
Ghost Town
It's one of those comedies where the story is better then the comedy. Oh the comedy is there alright, delivered excellently by Kinnear and Gervais, but this movie had more to it. It had some good heart and touching moments to it that helped make this movie really good.
Acting was good, but the spotlight belongs to Gervais. He's that character you love to hate and he plays it with perfection from beginning to end. Kinnear also works well alongside him and gets a couple laughs with him. Wiig was also funny even with her brief screen time.
The story is good though you kinda know how it will end, there are still some surprises along the way enough to make it interesting.
It was defintly worth seeing and even more so if your annoyed by all the press that "My Best Friend's Girl" got, enough to not want to see it then see Ghost Town instead.

"Come back soon. "
"What a terrible thing to say in a hospital."

The Return of the Living Dead (1985,  R)
The Return of the Living Dead
One of the funniest and coolest movies I've seen in awhile. It's just plain fun to watch and entertaining. Some of the special effects are amazing like "Tarman"'s makeup job is very impressive while the talking half corpse isn't so impressive. The story is simplistic and doesn't get very overly complicated so your able to get right into it and enjoy the fun. The acting isn't amazing, but it isn't very bad at all, so you won't find yourself rolling your eyes at any dreadful performances. It's got some good scares and plot twists, plus a great mix of humor thrown in for good measure to keep you watching. A good late night movie for zombie fans to enjoy. Even if you've never seen that movie "Night of the Living Dead" you can still find something to like about this film.

The Thing (1982,  R)
The Thing
A cool, well crafted thriller that leaves you guessing. Because your literally given little, if no clues about who anybody is at all, so your in the dark just as much as the guys in the movie.
And that parnoia feeling continues through the entire movie.
The special effects are amazing! A couple times their touch and go yeah, but still impressive none the less.
Acting is great by everyone with Russell leading the show, but not overshadowing anyone. It's a classice thriller that's great to watch when your stuck at home in the middle of winter.

Fanboys
This movie took forever to finally come out and now that it's finally on DVD I can say it wasen't quite worth the whole wait, but at least part of it, because it was still a good movie.
The cast is the perfect cast of the people who are THE best at playing likable nerds and yet still are able to do other acting gigs so your not tired with them in those roles yet (take some notes Michael Cera). The many cameos are also what make this film fun to watch because there are a lot! It would have been cool if they had talked Lucas into showing his face once, but it never happened.
I'm glad they kept the cancer storyline, because it gave the movie heart instead of making it just another road trip movie. Thank you for keeping it in there! Still this movie will not appeal to everyone however. It defintly is taylored to STAR WARS fans who will pick up the many lines and refences that are scattered throughout the movie like Jawas on a junk pile (see if you didn't get that then you probably won't find this movie as funny as I did). You can still give it a chance and will find it a little funny, just not as funny as the rest of us.
I wish this movie had made it into a wide release, but finally getting the DVD was still worthwhile. A great great movie for fanboys (and girls) everywhere.

"How did you score all of this?"
"Are you kidding? I'm William Shatner; I can score anything."

Speed Racer (2008,  PG)
Speed Racer
I feel like I might be in the minority here when I say this movie was AMAZING! I thought it was incredible and wish I had gotten to see this movie on the big screen!
Yeah it has it's faults. The ridiculous names of the characters, the annoying kid and monkey, the close to nauseating effect the movie will have on most people, but I thought it was a great campy flick either way.
Fox was great as Racer X and looked like he had good fun with the part. Goodman is also worth noting here, because he did a great job as Pops and brings some great heart to the movie. Ricci and Hirsch were all right and they had some good chemestry together.
The story feels like it belongs to the japanese anima it came from, but I've never seen the cartoon, so can't tell whether fans of it will like it or not.
The movie had one of the most emotionally charged endings I've ever seen and was really moving. Just amazing stuff!
I was really surprised at how great it was cause all the reviews I read made it sound terrible. Lost of people are probably not going to agree with me, but I thought it was great and a must see on an HD TV. If you can handle it that is.

"Distracted?"
"No, that's not exactly right. Your son seems to be interested in only one thing. All he talks about, all he seems capable of thinking about, is automobile racing."

Shanghai Knights (2003,  PG-13)
Shanghai Knights
A good sequel that manages to be funnier and have cooler fights then the first.
Wilson and Chan are in their element and fit perfectly into their roles. Wilson as the not so bright sidekick and Chan serving up plenty of impressive fights that are choreographed and filmed perfectly with a mix of laughs and impressive stunts. The best fight in the film would have to be the one between Chan and the street gang, because it was funny and amazing.
As far as cast members go Wilson and Chan do alright, but nothing really differant then from what we've always seen them do already. That's why I think Fisher, Johnson, and Gillen are worth noting. Fisher plays Doyle down to the tee and provides more amusement then most of the other characters in the whole film. Johnson, as Chaplin, manages the feat that few child sidekicks accomplish. Not being annoying. Not once are we ever annoyed with the kid. Last is Gillen as Rathbone and he plays the greasy villian with perfection. I think he gave the best performance in the whole movie and did a great job.
The story is funnier then the first with more historical characters scattered throughout who would have never met each otherwise and that's where most of the laughs come from.
It does move a tad slow sometimes, but I don't think it's something anyone will notice during the first viewing.
If you liked the SHANGHAI NOON or any of the other Jackie Chan comedies then you'll get a good KICK out of this one.
BEFORE THE CREDITS: Cast bloopers

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The 4th is by far the best of them yet in my opinion and after seeing the 5th, their only getting better. The stoy, though notably cut down from the book, still excells, but for it be fully clear then it's probably best you've read the book. If you haven't read the book then you won't be to lost, it just helps. Radcliff steps up his game here and proves he can do more then be the cute little kid, even though he still is not very good at faking tears. Watson also excells and stands on her own in this film with all the screen time she has, she does a great job. Grint still stands as an okay actor with a few rough spots here and there. The teachers provide great performances again witha noteworthy one from Gleeson who is by far the most fun to watch. The champions give good performances for what the little screen time their on, with Pattinson giving the best performance thankfully. The special effects are bigger and better, but the less important effects suffer. Meaning Hagrid's giant stand in suffers, during somewhat closeup shots. They reveal that it defintly isn't Coltrane and distracted me a lot. Still the most complaints about this movie is that there was a lot left out from the book. Yes I was disappointed when I didn't see some scenes I was looking forward too, but still the movie can stand on it's own and surpasses the ones before it. So the filmakers could have made a four hour long dog of a movie, but instead of going with what was easy, they did what was right. A film , that yes is trimmed down, but holds your attention and moves at a great and fun pace.

Shaun of the Dead (2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
It's a good movie that has some great laughs that are mixed in with some cool zombie moments. Not really scary a whole lot, but there are a couple gross out moments that are pretty good, so horror fans will get a kick out if it either way because of the way gives all sorts of little homages to other zombie films.
Pegg and Frost are one of the perfect comedy teams and work great together and I hope they continue to make films together. Wilton as Shaun's mum also gives some great laughs with every line she's given and Nighy, Ashfield, Davis, Serafinowicz, and Moran all are perfect in each role they were placed.
The other thing that makes this movie good is the fact that ALL the acting is superb and I believe everyone in the cast could do very well in a serious role, because they do excellent work with the times when their not trying to make you laugh. There are a lot of differant things mixed into this movie that I can't really fit into on genre, so don't expect just a comedy the whole time, but some cool storytelling as well.
If you like British comedies then this one will defintly make it into your favorites, but it's also good if your a fan of zombie movies as well. Worth your time checking out if you haven't seen it yet.

"Don't you get on with your mum, Shaun?"
"It's not that I don't get on with her..."
"Are you ashamed by your mum, Shaun?"

30 Days of Night (2007,  R)
30 Days of Night
A movie that succeeds in being completely freaky and nerve racking.
It's a vampire movie in the perfect setting, a town that is in nightfall for a whole month! It's a great concept that got made into a good movie.
Perfectly acted by Harnett, Huston, Junior and George, but Foster was the real treat as "The Stranger". He does creepy with perfection and is almost unrecognizable.
Like I mentioned before, the story is genius, and you have to wonder why no one thought of something so simple before! And thankfully there was plenty of emotional drama in the story too so it wasen't all blood and vampires which is what made this movie good to watch.
I was worried I was going to hate this movie or it was going to just be over the top cheesy, but I got to be greatly surprised and creeped out. Makes it onto my list of some of my favorite scary movies.

"Check on Gus. Board the windows. Try to hide. They're coming. This time they're gonna take me with them... honor me. Yeah. For all that I have done."

Taken (2009,  PG-13)
Taken
A really intense thriller, that will unfortunately be only really good the first time you see it once all the suspense is taken out. It will still be a good movie though.
Neeson proves he can be an action star and is pretty cool throughout the movie taking down baddies all in the name of finding his daughter. Grace does the screaming terrified girl very well (for those of you who remember the plane crash in LOST already knew that).
This movie defintly holds your attention even if it is a bit slow about halfway through the movie.

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
"Good luck."

The Pagemaster (1994,  PG)
The Pagemaster
A decent kids film that I remember enjoying as a kid, but now there isn't much here for adults really. Stewart and Goldberg provide most of the laughs as they bicker back and forth as Adventute and Fantasy. Actually I found myself laughing at most of Goldberg's lines, so I have to say she is one of the enjoyable parts of the film.
It's a good voicecast with the likes of the above mentioned Stewart, Goldberg, and then also Welker, Nimoy and Lloyd provide their talents as well. Lloyd also gives a good show as the eccentric Libraian in the live action sequence, but it is the part we usually see him in. I can't say I'm a fan of Culkin though, His expression didn't seem to change a whole lot during the live action sequences, but he wasen't bad during the animation scenes.
It's not a terrible movie and has a good message about conquering fear for kids to learn, but like the other animated films from the same studio (An American Tail, Troll In Central Park, Land Before Time), once you reach a certain age they're not as entertaining as the once were. Any child who reads and enjoys books will probably be in awe os this film, no doubts there, but most adults will wallk away entertained briefly, yet unimpressed. So this one is just for the kids and anybody who wants to revisit their childhood.

"What is this?"
"It's a library card."
"I'm a book, honey, I can read."

The Big Store (1941,  Unrated)
The Big Store
My favorite Marx Brothers film because it has the best of all they've ever done. The best film musical performance from them when Chico and Harpo play the piano, mixing skill and humor making it entertainment every time I watch it. Groucho's one liners with the amazing and never tiring Dumont (no matter how many fioms she was in with them and always playing the same character). And the amazing chase scene throughout the store through the end.
It could have used with out the end musical number with Martin, but at least they keep the secondary story of him and Grey out of the movie as much as possible without cutting it out all together.
It's my favorite and in my opinion one of their best, worth watching for their fans and fans of the old school comedies.

"Tell me, Wolfie dear, will we have a beautiful home?"
"Of course. You're not planning on moving, are you?"
"No, but, uh, I'm afraid after we're married awhile, a beautiful young girl will come along, and, uh, you'll forget all about me."

The Haunted Mansion (2003,  PG)
The Haunted Mansion
For everyone who had a problem with the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies having nothing to do with the ride, then you shouldn't have any problem with this movie at all. There are a LOT of subtle and not so subtle refrences to the rides that just looking for them all and can make this movie entertaining in some way.
As for as the movie goes I didn't really find it all to funny or very scary either, but it is still kind of a fun Disney movie at least that I think most kids will enjoy. It's got good solid performace from both the kids (Davis and Jefferies) as well as the adult roles. Murphy and Thomason make a good married couple, while Parker and Stamp play creepy ghosts perfectly. The cast members that do the best though are Tilly as Madama Leota, she does an excellent with a mostly small role, and Shawn and Waters as the ghostly hired help. The two of them steal most of the films laughs away from Murphy.
It's a movie worth checking out, especially if your a fan of the ride or the parks in general.
END OF CREDITS: Scene at the end.

A Day at the Races (1937,  Unrated)
A Day at the Races
Another movie with the Marx Brothers at their best. Whether it's the great miming scene between Harpo and Chico or the final race scene, this movie had plenty of lines and momments to make me laugh out loud while watching it.
A strong supporting cast including Dumont, Ruman, and the couple Jones and O'Sullivan (who manage to be the least annoying out of all the romance stories used in the Marx Brothers movies) help give the Marx Brothers plenty of things to play off of and make for a great, classic comedy. Defintly for any fan of the Marx Brothers, old movies, or grea comedies in general.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001,  R)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Hard to believe they could come up with enough funny stuff to fill an entire movie on these two, but Smith did and suceeded! It's hilarious, one of Smith's funniest movies, and you can't help but smile during the whole film.
Smith and Mewes aren't the best actors in the world, but they're talented and likable enough to get by. Ferrell does a good job too and so far this is tone of THE only movies he's in that I actually like. Most of the rest of the cast is made up of celebrity cameos.
The celebrity cameos are the best especially the stuff with Damon and Affleck. Kudos to all celebrities who were in this film and didn't mind making a joke about themselves in the process.
The other cool thing is how Smith brings a lot of his characters from his other films into small parts that were usually saved for the main duo in the movie. Some of the jokes are inside jokes and unless you've seen the other movies you won't get some of em(the only one I haven't seen is CHASING AMY, but I was still able to laugh at those jokes). The one part that I didn't find funny was thankfully not in the movie, but in the deleted scenes.
It's a goofier, less character driven version of the ViewAskewniverse, but that made it all the better. So if your a fan of Smith's Jay and Silent Bob then you'll love this movie.
END OF AND DURING CREDITS: Some bloopers during cast list and a short scene at the end of credits.

"You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him......and sometimes, you have to go back to the well."
"And sometimes, you do Reindeer Games."
"See, that's just mean."

Reservoir Dogs (1992,  R)
Reservoir Dogs
Even though INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS holds the top spot in my favorite Tarantino movie list, this came VERY close to dethroning it.
Tarantino's writing skills shine in this movie as you hang on to ever word the characters speak and the actors do an excellent job of delivering those lines so your interested in their characters and what they have to say.
Buscemi, Roth, and Keitel are excellent in their roles and steal the show giving some of their best performances of their careers.
It's a heist movie where you never actually see the heist and the scenery very rarely ever changes because the movie stays in mostly one room. Very few directors could make a movie like that and keep it interesting enough that you watch it till the very last shot. If I had seen this movie sooner then I would have become a Tarantino fan a long time ago.
Defintly worth seeing, and if your a fan of Quentin Tarantino and you haven't seen this movie yet, then you need to soon.

Sin City (2005,  R)
Sin City
Maybe I've seen this movie too many times, but it's starting to seem a little over-dramatic sometimes. And yet I can still manage to enjoy it.
It's got a great cast all around with Willis, Wood, Del Toro, Bledel, Owen, Alba, Hartnett, Murphy,Stahl, and Shelton standing out as my favorites, but everyone else does a solid job as well.
Del Toro and Owen steal the show though for the scene between the two of them in the car. It's creepy yet you can't stop watching all at the same time. Excelletn work on Tarantino's part for doing that scene.
The stories are great and interconnect pefectly, but my favorite has to be "That Yellow Basterd", because of the acting from the cast in that one and it's conclusion. "The Big Fat Kill" comes in a close second though for Owen's perfect naration throughout the movie, it's thrilling storyline, and making surprise hereos ot of prostitutes.
Also the opening scene's story is a great way to start the movie and to hold your atention for the rest of it.
I've read a couple of the comics and they follow most of the story spot on and transfered perfectly to the big screen. Miller created a dismal world that still manages to find some "heroes" that are no where near perfect, but you hope they win anyway, and Rodriguez was the perfect choice to bring it to life. It's visually amazing and the use of colors highlighting characters and objects at precise moments is really cool and beautifully done.
RECUT, EXTENDED, UNRATED EDITION: The only reason it's worth your money is the included version of the a graphic novel, a slew of bonus features (the green only version is actually pretty cool), and both versions of the movie. But the other version isn't really worth it because it's just the movie broken up into four seperate movies if ou don't have the attention span to watch all flow together into one movie. There are on or two "okay" deleted bits that have been tossed into the new cuts of the movie, but nothing to get too excited for. If it didn't come with the good version and a bunch of bonus features I would have said it's not worth it.

It's a comic book movie for adults that's beautifully stylized in a way never before seen (but will be anoyingly duplicated) and is defintly worth seeing.

"(Where to fight counts for a lot...)"
"Cute trick, McCarthy... but it will do you no good..."

Final Destination (2000,  R)
Final Destination
Death is complicated. And so is this movie. It is well done though and if wasen't done just right then you would have been lost easily. The story is imaginative and begs the question: Can you cheat death? Acting is good and strong from all characters. What is most impressive though are the complectity of death's design for all involved. When it all comes together it leads to a really well written and planned conclusion to a character's demise. Though not really scary this film is suspenceful and has you guessing at each turn. I liked this film, but didn't love it. I found the second one better in fact. Still it's a good movie and you shouldn't miss out on a well done suspence thriller.

Do not get death pissed at you. This movie shows the conseqences. A cool and well written storyline keeps you guessing what will happen next. The acting is solid and their performances let you care about what happens to these people, because they all seem like real people. I say check this movie out, you will stay on the edge of your seat and even be shocked a few times. Watch your back, because death is waiting.

Shrek 2 (2004,  PG)
Shrek 2
I enjoyed this movie and I think it's a pretty strong sequel to the first film. It might not be as funny as the first, but it has a strong story to it and amazing CGI to go with it.
The cast do a good job and Myers is perfect as Shrek, but the real treats were Banderas as Puss and Cleese and Andrews as the King and Queen. They were all outstanding in their voice acting and funny the whole time. Murphy borders on annoying at times, but doesn't stay there for very long times it seems which everyone will be grateful for.
If you liked the first one then you'll probably enjoy this on too and I think adults would enjoy this one more as well and not just the kids.
END OF CREDITS: It depends what version you watch, but I know the VHS version and DVD version do show the 5 minute scene at the end of the credits. Also there is another scene halfway through the credits as well.

"Stop, ogre! I have misjudged you".
" Join the club. We got jackets."

Push (2009,  PG-13)
Push
I thought this movie was really cool, full of some interesting action sequences between people with differant powers, and some cool story twists.
Acting was really good and I like Evans whenever he's not in the Fantastic Four uniform.
Fanning is great all the time and funny in the scene when she gets drunk.
I like Gretsch and wish he had some bigger parts in movies then what he's been gettiing lately.
Belle was okay, but she didn't have a lot of emotion most of the time, course she was playing a sick person on screen most of the time so I can look past it.
The story was cool and there were some nice twists towards the end that helped keep it interesting. Especially when they have to figure out how to fight someone who knows what their going to do next.
Though the movie looks like it's going to be action filled, it's not really and is more story oriented then anything else.
But when there is an action sequence, the limited use of special effects make everything a lot more realistic and cool looking.
The pacing is decent, though it feels a little slow sometimes, so that's really my only complaint about this movie.
I enjoyed this film and wished it had done better so we could get a decent sequel or two out of it.

Con Air
A cool, funny, over the top action movie that almost too corny at times. Still I love this movie right down to the credits. It's just all so perfect. The cast is excellent with Cage, Cusack, Chinlund, Trejo, Gainey, Chappelle, Meaney, the perfect pyscho villian Malkovich and the always perfect Buscemi. Like I said, the action is over the top sometimes (I think there are a couple explosions just there for the heck of it) yet it's still a fun ride. The story is cool and entertaining and stays away from most action movie cliches. Cage accent alone will make you laugh, because it's just not very good, so don't take this film anywhere remotely seriously. It's fun, corny, and full of explosions. That's all you need to know, so get on the plane and get ready for take off.

"Define irony. Bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash. "

Watchmen (2009,  R)
Watchmen
What an amazing movie! But I can't list it as a favorite just yet and I'll get to that later in the review.
First off, I never read the graphic novel, but I picked it up after seeing the movie and could recognize parts of the film from differant panels, so it looks like it followed the book really close in image if not in script.
But the story is pretty intense and I'd put it on the same scale as THE DARK KNIGHT with it raising the same questions about "what is right and what is wrong?" and what makes a hero.
Unlike Batman though, this bunch is a pretty unlikeable group of heroes. Nite Owl and Silk Spectra come close, but the only character I actually cared for and liked was Rorshach and that was in part because of Haley's AMAZING performance.
The acting is one of the great things this movie has to offer, because it is almost flawless. The one factor that bugged me was Crudup's monotone voice. Yeah it fits the character, but I just kept zoning out whenever he talked for any long length of time. And seriously he could have worn at least a speedo for most of the movie.
Anyway the big kudos goes to Snyder for his direction. Like any long movie you find yourself squirming in your seat, but he manages to hold my attention though most of the film and not lose me on most of the complicatd bits of the story. At least up till the end, but I'll get to that later. Snyder also manages to pick the perfect music for his films all the time and this one is no exception. The opening title sequence was one of the best parts of the film!
So for all this praise, why can't I list this as my favorite then? Two reasons. 1) I just don't really like the anti-heroes and that's what all the characters are in this movie. Most of them are just plain unlikeable. 2) I missed the explanation for The Comedian being killed and the whole reasoning for the ending being what it is, so I have to see it again before I can say whether I really like it or not.
In fact I wasen't even sure I was going to like at all, cause of the ending. Then the very last scene came on and that was a geat and perfect ending.
So I have to say this film is defintly worth multiple viewings, even if it's just so you can pick up all the details you missed the rest of the times you saw it.

"No, but it takes a room full of morons to think they're small enough for them to handle."

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King
A fitting ending to Jackson's epic tale! Again the story here is beautifully written and visualized. The characters are flawlessly performed and every moment is touching in it's own way. Still if you can't sit still for long movies, haven't seen the first two, or want nothing but epic battles(which you'll get) then you might want to stay away, but still check it out. You won't regret it.

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers
A great middle film that is on the same level as the first and last. Great special effects, especially Gollum who is an amazing work of CGI/motion capture. The story is great even though it doesn't have EVERYTHING from the books, if you want more then watch the extended edition. Has a lot more and is just as good! Acting is superb! Astin is the best but Serkis, Wenham, Urban, Ottom, and Boyd all give good performances as supporting characters. And that is just the supporting cast! Mckellen and Morttensen are amazing! Bloom and Ryes-Davis work well off each other and give us some great stuff to laugh at and enjoy. The Helm's Deep scene is phenominal and is a great battle scene! However Sam's speach at the end is my favorite part of the film and is delivered with perfection. If the length of this film doesn't scare you then it's well worth the watch, because it will draw you like the ring and won't let go until the very end.

Sleepy Hollow (1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow
Here we have a telling of the classic tale SLEEPY HOLLOW that is pure Tim Burton style and fun. And I think he was the perfect director for the job. The film is filled with his story telling, humor, and style, so his fans will be very pleased with the outcome and is defintly one of his best films he has come out with.
However fans of the book will notice quite a differant story then they might remember, because it has more of a mystery element to it this time and it defintly works for the film. I didn't really find it all the scary, but there were enough decapitations to make it gory enough so it's not for the faint of heart.
Acting is solid for all involved with Depp playing up the sqeamish side of Crane perfectedly and once again you will see bits of his other characters shine through in some moments. Ricci sometimes seems a little forced when speaking, but delivers the dialogue with near perfection and defintly sounds like she could be from that time.
I'm sorry but I can't take Walken seriously as The Horseman, no matter how scary the get up, but he doesn't have a head for long as everyone will know, so it doesn't bother me and it's kind of cool seeing him in that role. Richardson does an excellent job when she gets to the crazy part of her role and then shines. The townseople played by Gambon, Jones, McDiarmid, Gough, and Griffiths are perfect and work well together when they all share scenes. And amazing mix of actors for those roles.
So even though it isn't a very scary movie (for me anyway) it still manages to be creepy and entertaining. Get your head on straight and watch a copy of it when you get the chance.

"The Horseman comes. And tonight he comes for you!"

Not Another Teen Movie (2001,  R)
Not Another Teen Movie
A genius spoof movie that hits the mark evey time. It pokes fun at a genre that needed to be laughed at, but still have some respect for some of the great movies they're making fun of.
The cast is excellent and fit into their cliche roles perfectly. Evans, Leigh, Pressly, Quiad, Olsen, Jungmann, McMains, they all do a great job. Throw in some hilarious cameos from Mr. T, Molly Ringwald, and Paul Gleeson and you've got yourself a great movie.
The story has a perfect mix of movies from the 80s to the 90s which is one of the reasons I like it, cause it's just not a bunch of random sketches and pop culture refrences like the newer spoof movies.
*cough* Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's movies *cough*.
It's well worth watching if you get the chance so check it out!
END OF CREDITS: Scene shortly after the credits have started and also at the very end of the credits.

"All I said was, "I'm pretending to whisper a big secret in your ear, so Jake here thinks that I'm telling you a big secret, which will cause him to break into a hysterical confession where he actually reveals... a big secret. Thus confirming everything I just whispered in your ear."

Thankfully this movie wasen't all about the fights and blood, but they actually gave it a story. Great acting by Butler, Wenham, and Headey. The effects are amazing and on the same scale as Lord of the Rings. The story (which has to be very inaccurate) is good, but the way it was filmed is what makes this film worth watching. How it goes from slow motion to fast, the camera goes around the fight capturing every movement, is just amazing. The one thing I didn't like was the tranvestite looking Xerxes. How could you be scared of him? I'd laugh everytime he'd give an order.
So the film IS all it's cracked up to be and I think the guys from "Robot Chicken" best describe this movie-"It ain't accurate, but it'll blow your f*****g mind!"

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II (2008,  Unrated)
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II
Like the first it's a mix of bad stuff (Jedi Injury Lawyer, opening scene, and most things with the Emperor) but a lot of good stuff.
Plus adding the voices of Carrie Fisher, Billie Dee Williams, and Ahmed Best as their original charactes helps to make it a cool STAR WARS experience. Also some top notch voice actiong from Meyer's excellent voicing of Fett, Benrubi's spot on impersonation of Vader, and MacFarlane bringing an obnoxious Emperor to life.
If you liked the first one then you'll defintly like this one as well and I hope the guys from Robot Chicken crank out a third soon.
END OF CREDITS: Short Sketch

"Luke what's wrong?"
"I just can't believe Ben's gone."
"Ah did the eighty year old man you just met yesterday die? I mean sorry if I didn't notice I was a little busy thinking about my entire family and the other two billion people from Alderaan who were just vaporized into dust about three hours ago."

The Benchwarmers (2006,  PG-13)
The Benchwarmers
A film that reaches it's target audience succesfully. That audience being teenage boys. The humor is great with a fine mix of slapstick, and word play. The acting is great by all around especially Schneider, Spade, and Heder. They play great off each other and are hilarious when they interact. The story is cool and an interesting twist on the underdogs win the big game. The movie moves nice and fast with the comedy never eally stopping. So if you like stupid comedys then watch this because you won't stop laughing.
91
Star Trek (2009,  PG-13)
Star Trek
Quite possibly one of the few PERFECT movies in existence. The movie has the perfect mix of stuff for the old TREK fans and people who know almost nothing about STAR TREK at all, so everyone is able to enjoy it.
Pine and Quinto were a perfect match to work side by side as Kirk and Spock and worked perfect with each other and bring refreshingly young faces to the franchise.
The casting of Cho and Pegg is shear brilliance and gave the movie great laughs and action moments.
Urban channels DeForrest Kelly's McCoy, containing all the old character elements while still making it his own thing.
Nimoy fit into the old shoes of Spock perfectly and is probably better at it now then he was before.
The only person I would have preferred to not be in the movie was Tyler Perry. I'm sorry, but the guy who dresses up as Madea should not have been allowed anywhere near this film.
The story is amazing and the twists they've added will let them take the sequls anywhere they want too and promises to be AWESOME! Also I'm glad they didn't go the whole dark-background story that prequels seem to be doing lately. It proves a film can still be fun and exciting. The movie is full of the emotional intensity that I expected from something from J.J. Abrams, having been a fan of his since LOST. He did a great job with reviving STAR TREK to make it something cool once again and something everyone can enjoy and watch. Not just the guys in their mom's basement (are there any of them really living there? It has yet to be proven), but for everyone who wants to boldly go where no man has gone before and get blown away by an amazing movie. The only thing that would have made it better was if there had been Tribbles.

"May I speak freely?"
"I encourage it."
"Are you out of your Vulcan mind?"

Scream 3 (2000,  R)
Scream 3
Too many suspects and not enough characters is what I think is the main problem with this movie. They introduce too many people and you don't get to know any of them well enough to care when they end up biting the dust.
A somewhat clever storyline that gives a decent, complex, twist filled wrap up to the series, but something is off for some reason. The clever writing that throws in some laughs with the character's dialogue is missing from this installment.
The great acting is still there from Cox, Arquette, Kennedy, Schreiber, and Campbell, plus some great cameos from Carrie Fisher and Jay and Silent Bob. Warburton is funny in every scene hes in and all he does is stand there and talk for the most part.
It seems this series has started to take itself too seriously and is becoming the slashers is so fondly made fun of once. A little bit on the dissappointing side. Still it's not a terrible follow up and is still worth watching if you liked the first two, but it's not as great as it could have been.

"The killer called her."
"When?"
"What'd he say?"
"Oh you know the usual small talk. "What's new?" "How you been?" "How do you wanna die?" "

Kung Fu Hustle (2005,  R)
Kung Fu Hustle
A fun, pointless, over the top Kung Fu movie from the comedy master Chow. He does an excellent job of mixing a good story, cool fight scenes, laughs, and cool visual effects into one movie.
The background music is really cool and adds to the amazing (though sometimes obviously faked thanks to bad CGI) fight scenes.
The coolest fight is the one against the Two Harpists.
The acting is good and the dubbing is as bad as you can imagine. It still works, but it's obviously not what there saying.
It's got as much laughs as it does action ans is DEFINTLY worth your time to see if you like both.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra (2009,  PG-13)
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
MAY CONTAIN some SPOILERS, BUT NOTHING TOO IMPORTANT. JUST THOUGHT YOU'D WANT TO KNOW SO YOU DON'T COME YELLING AT ME IF I GAVE AWAY SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T WANT TO KNOW.
It will hardly be called the smartest movie script to hit theaters this summer and the cast won't win any Oscars that's for sure, but I found this film to be just a good fun action flick, which is what I should have expected from Sommors' direction and his work in THE MUMMY films and VAN HELSING.
Now going into this movie I thought it was going to be absolutely terrible, but I found my self laughing and enjoying the ride. I had expected little from the cast, but they all pleasantly surprised me. Wayans managed to provide some good humor instead of just dumbing down the whole movie like I thought he was going to. Tatum manages to be a good leading man in an action movie and works well onscreen with Miller.
POSSIBLE SPOILER!!!The real surprise comes from Levitt as The Doctor though and is almost unrecognizable in his make-up and performance. END OF SPOILER!!!
Most of the special effects are solid, but there were a couple minor ones that bugged me, however they weren't very important so I won't mark it against them.
The story is simple at times then throws in some good backstories that ties a lot of stuff together and actually makes you interested in the characters and what happens to them.
If you want a fun action movie, but something that has a smarter story and better humor then any TRANSFORMERS movie that will ever be made, then I suggest you check out G.I.JOE. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

"Okay, that was crazy... What happened to you?"
"I went through the train. What happened to you?"
"I jumped over it."
"....You can do that?"
"I told you to read that manual."
"There's a manual?"
