Movies I watched in 2008

Definately superior to the other films of this genre! The duo Sam Rockwell and Vera Farmiga, plus the supporting cast, make it all worth it!

I honestly don't see why people criticized this film so much! It's well directed, and stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, what's not to like? It's not a masterpiece, but with all the criticism, I thought it was gonna be a hell of a lot worse!

I know, it's average. But Clive and Paul make it all worth it! The action scenes were really well coreographed.

Pretty funny - for a guy.

The true deserver of the Best Feature Film Oscar for me! This film is magical, for lack of a better word! Ellen Page's character is so real - as are the supporting roles - and Diablo Cody's script is as refreshing as they get!

Chris Evans proves to be a promising young talent - and hot too! ;p

This is the kind of work that makes a fan proud - and being Emile's fan for over 5 years now, all I can say is: I'm really proud of him! The whole cast is incredible, and Sean's direction is awesome, but Emile was the one who made this film what it is: great!

The story's really compelling and all that, but something's missing. Angelina isn't all that great in it, although she is, indeed, better than usual. Kudos to Dan Futterman, who is always believable as the characters he portraits.

What makes this film so special is its cast - everyone was at the top of their game! Not to mention the great direction by the Cohen brothers! Maybe it's not the best of 2007 - for me, that would be Juno - but still, really good!

For those who didn't know that George Clooney was a good actor, his last few films are coming off as a surprise - and a good one! The performances are incredible, specially Tom Wilkinson's. Altough I really like Tilda Swinton, I don't see her Oscar there... But anyway, a really good thriller!

The performances are all incredible! And it's such a great story about family, and love, and when things go wrong. Loved it!

Ben Affleck does a great job directing his great cast! The story is really well told, with great twists and turns that pin you to your seat until the very end. Well done, Ben!

Stories set in London are somehow special. RFBR isn't the kind of film that's gonna change your life, butit sure is a lot of fun! Simon Pegg and Hank Azaria are always hilarious!

it's not Jake's best performance, but it sure is good! It's always good to see him acting with Peter again! I love political thrillers and this one did not disappoint me.

Pretty funny. The ending is great, not your regular Hollywood rom-com.

I love realistic love stories, and this is certainly one of them! Ethan Hawke wrote and directed these really good actors, playing really believable people.
And, of course, the soundtrack is awesome!

Nice performances, and an interesting story - a look at how lonely being a thief can be. Pretty flawed though, specially the ending.

It's incredible how well a man can write so many great parts for women. Almodóvar's female chracters in this movie are like the ones in all his films: realistic and profound.

I find this concept of "how we're all connected" very interesting. It's just that this story isn't all that special. The cast is really good, and the performances were as good as expected, but the direction could have been a lot better.

An interesting story about love and connection in the biggest city in South America.

Rachel and Nicole are excellent in this. But the true star of the film is the director, Noah Baumbach. He just keeps getting better and better.

Even Will Ferrell does a good job in this film! I love the way Marc Forster tells stories, and this one is original, has a pretty good cast and gets you excited to see how things are gonna turn out - all of these are qualities of a good film.

Not the kind of film that will change your life, but the cast is really good, and it does what it set out to do: entertain. I had fun, and sometimes that's all that matters.

There is simply no way someone can watch this film and not fall for it! It's very melancholic at times, but for the most part, it's simply good performances, good chemistry and lots of emotion - not to mention the hottest thirty-somethings in Hollywood: Butler, Connick Jr. and Morgan.

Great cast, but only good performances - except for Jackson, who is even hard to recognize. Hartnett is certainly on his way to becoming one of the best young actors out there!

Good fun, and, most of all, a great performance by Robert Downey Jr. This might not be his deepest character, but it sure is one of those who suit him better. Not to mention the supporting cast, which is as good as it gets.

Good adaptation of the novel. Actually, it was too good at times: some parts of the story weren't that necessary for the understanding of the plot and made the film feel like it was in slow motion at times. Nevertheless, it still is a remarkable story about love, friendship and living with your regrets.

Not just a vampire movie. There's suspense, action and lots of blood, but there's also a really interesting storyline and a super cast. Why most people don't even know who Ben Foster is, is beyond me! Ben, Hartnett and Danny Huston make it all worth it! Josh is certainly not only a good looking actor, but a good one too.

A little boring at times, not to mention it doesn't bring any new information. It's noble to see Leo taking action to change the world's biggest problem at the moment. It's impossible not to compare it with An Inconvenient Truth, but it has its own merits.

Adorable little film! Sam Rockwell proves himself to be, once again, one of the greatest actors of his generation! His Trent is the loser you learn to love, and his relationship with 10-year-old Devon is nothing but pure and innocent. Funny and dramatic - it's just right.

There was just no way this movie could have sucked! Great director and great cast! Plus, a "mobster" story - the kind that always catches my eye! A bit long, but totally worth it.

It is, to say the least, a parade of amazing tallent. Not great, granted, but certainly good enough.

Johnny Depp is once again amazing, and surrounded by a stellar supporting cast and an awesome director. It was a little too dark for my taste, but still pretty good.

Really good storytelling. Frances McDormand is once again incredible, with her calm, soothing voice. The rest of the cast is also great! Definitely a must-see!

An emotional story about dealing with pain and grief. John Cusack has certainly evolved as an actor and has been choosing some interesting and rich parts, such as this one. Totally worth watching.

Emotional and with a solid cast. Well, you can't ask much more of a film. Freddie Highmore is proving himself to be one of the most gifted actors of his generation.

What a cute little movie! Just the fact that Keri Russell and Jeremy Sisto star in it were enough to convince me of watching it, but in the end it was worth for such an endearing story about overcoming loneliness in life. A little predictable, true, but also adorably funny.

Josh Hartnett leads a pretty cool cast, which includes Rip Torn and David Bowie, just to name a few. Josh is definitely one of the best young actors of his generation. Good script, good direction. Honest, exciting and realistic. That's a hell of a good combination.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost certainly make a good team. Definitely refreshing and funny.

A raw, honest biopic, for a change. It shows the man and the mind behind all of those great songs. Great performances, an excellent soundtrack, and pure, raw, emotion.

It's a good character study and a good story too, but during some scenes I was actually wondering what that was all about. Gus is certainly great at what he does, but this time, he could have done better.

Some of the best young British actors of the 90s in a single movie. Great direction by Danny Boyle - he made a truly honest film, like no other.

Not your average hit man film. This one's got a really good story, not to mention a great cast and performances. You end up with the feeling that you know these characters pretty deep down, and wanting to go to Bruges.

The story is interesting, for sure, but the film is, well, a little strange. Scarlett's performance could have been way better, not to mention the way pretty much every shot in the film was made from behind doors, curtains and people's backs.
Eric and specially Natalie are quite good, but sometimes that's all they are, good. This period of English history is certainly fascinating, and that's a plus for The Other Boleyn Girl.

Anyway who has ever grieved for the someone they loved can surely relate to this film. The relationship between Audrey and Jerry feels so real - that's the result of an awesome work by Halle and Benicio. It's as realistic as any film can be on grieving and recovering from an addiction. Towards the middle, the rythm of how things unfold isn't necessarily ideal, but the beninning and the end make it balanced. Totally worth it.

What a cast! Norah Jones' Lizzie was one of the characters I've related to the most, for sure! The soundtrack was pleasing at all times. Too bad some actors didn't have as much screen time!

What a cast! The whole thing was a little over the top, but it's still worth it. Paul T. Anderson is great at what he does, and it's possible to feel his mastermind at work at all times. I kept imagining how fun it must have been to shoot some of these unforgettable scenes in film history! I wish I hadn't been so tired so I could've enjoyed a little more this particularly long film.

An adorable little film! Mandy is at her best, but Billy is definitely the star, stealing every single scene. Too bad Martin Freeman and Bobby Cannavale didn't have more scenes, but at least there's enough of the always impressive Tom Wilkinson. Kudos to Justin Theroux for pullig this off on his directorial debut.

Films about politics can be quite boring, but not this one. It's accurately based on a true story, and the Hank's, Hoffman's and Robert's characters are as well developed as they are entertaining. Not M. Nichols' best film, but it's far from being his worst.

Really great performances and a scarily real story! Ellen Page is definitely one of the best young actresses out there!

Not so fun to watch, but it is definitely a good film. Good cast and a good director usually equals good film, and in this case it is certainly true.

Fun and Fabulous! It's a breath of fresh air to see a film led by 4 independent, smart, beautiful and confident women, specially bringing back all the fun that was watching the show. I laughed and cried, sometimes at the same time! Welcome back, girls.

What a fine, fine film! Great cast, and beautifully directed by Ang Lee. It could only have come from the mastermind of Jane Austen.

Adorable, but so predictable...

The story unfolds in an unusual way, which is good. The action scenes were really well directed. It's a little predictable, and sometimes over the top, but it's got an excellent cast to make up for it.

This story has been told before, only with different characters. Even so, you can't help but to immerse yourself in these boys' world of violence and drugs in the streets of NYC in the eighties. Although they created a different character, somehow, when they were supposed to be the same, Robert Downey Jr. and Shia LaBeouf managed to be their talented selves.

It's nice to see McConaughey and Hudson working together again, but this movie is just average. It was supposed to be an adventure, but for me it wasn't even remotely exciting. And despite the hair, Matt was the best damn thing about it.

Out of all of these new movies about the war in Iraq, Stop Loss is my favorite. It is a mature view of how war changes the soldiers who are lucky enough to come home. Ryan Phillippe is one of today's best young actors.

Woody doesn't bring anything new to the table, but this film was just as pleasurable to watch as his previous ones. Not to mention the bloody charming British accent and the good looks of the leading men. Way to go, Woody.

It accomplishes what it's set out to do. Plus it has a pretty good cast. That's good enough for me.

Interesting dynamics, but that's clearly not enough for a movie to succeed. I'm not into period films, maybe that's why. To be honest, I only watched it for the impressive cast, specially Chris Cooper, who will always be one of my favorite actors ever. The cast did a pretty good job, but it didn't do it.

Interesting story. Kevin Spacey is incredible, and very easily. Also, Sturgess is becoming a hell of a leading man. The rest was pretty average, though.

It was a big waste of acting skills. Emile had very few chances of shining and when he did, he didn't really grab them. The same goes for pretty much everyone in the supporting cast, which was pretty good. But the film itself is pretty bold, for trying new things and toying with colours, angles and special effects all the time. It is tiresome, but it's also an spectacle.

Very common place. It turns out Gerry lost half of his charm with his American accent. Not even a good cast could save this predictable 'thriller'.

Just one more meaningless American blockbuster. Nothing was remotely good enough - except for Shia's performance, which was okay. Even the special effects weren't as good as they should be.

Animations are becoming so common place now. Great voices, for sure, but they could have done some more work on the script department.

Super fun! Plus, the theme song is incredibly addictive!

WOW! Such a sad, but beautiful love story... And so truthful - the whole time you feel like you know the characters and what they're going through. Plus, Michael and Olivia prove themselves to be worthy of being between the most promising young talents in Hollywood. And, finally, Sam Rockwell is fucking AWESOME.

It's always fun to watch Ed doing different things, and the cast is just super cool. Too bad it wasn't enough - it lacks too much density.

It's a wonderful idea for a movie! And with such an amazing cast... The way the story is carried out makes it delicious to watch!

Nothing new there. It was funny at times, and it was just as good as any romantic comedy out there. It certainly doesn't hold a candle to Good Night & Good Luck or Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

Fun and touching at the same time. Grint's quirkiness is just adorable, and Julie and Laura are incredible, as always... The scenery and the soundtrack are equally good. I had a great time watching it.

Delpy is always refreshing, even though it feels like she keeps playing the same character over and over again. Adam Goldberg is hilarious without making an effort, but it was nice to see him taking on a character with a little more depth. The ending could have been a little more satisfactory, but it was fun to watch a realistic love story (they're so rare!) set in Paris.

It has my favorite elements in a film: it's heartfelt and it's got realistic characters - you feel like you know them. Gerry is perfect for this part, and Mortimer proves she can do better than The Pink Panther. If that wasn't enough, it's set in Scotland, there's the Scottish accent, which is a real charm!

I always lose interest when it comes to black and white movies, I'm not sure why, and this was definitely the case. It's a beautiful love story, and the plot has nice twists and turns, but to be honest I've seen more heartfelt love stories.

I feel like I've seen this story before, but this one still seems refreshing. It's a new look on racism, the skinheads and growing up in England in the '80s. English cinema is certainly great and this film was last year's gem, for sure.

It's adorable, funny, heartfelt at the same time. Anne's performance wasn't great, but it was better than I expected. James was his lovable, talented self, although he could have done slightly better. Also, the supporting cast was very competent. It's no 'Pride & Prejudice', but it's close.

A wonderfully written character living in an incredible version of the real world. The director did an amazing job, and so did Audrey. If that wasn't enough, it's set in Paris. In the end, you feel like being a part of that world.

What a lovely story! Jamie Bell shines as a young talent, and the supporting cast is just as brilliant, with the likes of Julie Walters and Gary Lewis. It's fun and adorable at the same time - just the way I like it.

It could have been better, but nonetheless it's a well humoured look at life, death, friendship and hypocrisy. Plus, there's this wonderful cast!

The fact that it was based on a true story kept it from going to far, I think. It could have been way better, but it's better than I expected.

It's incredible how Patrick Dempsey is likeable and so easily! Michelle does a good job too. Plus, there's Kevin McKidd and Sidney Pollack and a big part of it is set in Scotland, which I love! So, basically, I had a pretty good time watching it.

A whole lotta fun! Carell is so indeniably funny, it comes off so natural! Hathaway is quickly developing into one of the most beautiful and sophisticated young actresses nowadays. The special effects were better than so many movies out there, and I could actually hear myself laughing, for a change!

Such a good cast! A well written script, some almost excellent performances and beautiful, sutil shots. The ending could have been better, though.

It's fun and cute, but that's about it.

It's a lot of fun, and Seinfeld managed to hire a bunch of really cool, talented people.

Pacino and De Niro are, once again, excellent - not as great as in some of their most famous performances, but still. But the script is very flawed and the direction could also have been much better.

Finally, an anti-hero. Plus, Will Smith is always a lot of fun to watch. Theron and Bateman are also some of my favorite actors. Good job!

Just a lot of fun, a great cast and really catchy tunes!

It takes a little too long to make you feel interested and the lack of people speaking is hard to ignore, but in the end it's all very sweet and nice. Again, Pixar did a great job.
