Movies I've Seen-1981

Excellent modern film noir,the directorial debut of screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan,stars William Hurt as a Florida horndog lawyer who becomes obsessed with a young married woman he meets,they start an affair but there's her rich husband in the way...Lots of good twists and turns and a very strong cast.Hurt normally plays pretty smart people,his character here lets his penis do the thinking for him.Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke turn up in good supporting roles as the assistant DA and a client of Hurt's,respectively.

The first sequel and first film to feature Jason as the killer is a bit of a step up from the first one.There isn't as much padding here,although there is footage from the first film,ala the Rocky series to bring us up to speed.The writing and performances are still pretty bad but this has a much eerier vibe to it.Jason doesn't have his hockey mask yet so he wears a potato sack,overalls and has some hillbilly long hair and beard...strange.The film isn't all that gory(although it does sport a bigger body count than the first movie),due to the fact that this was the second most cut film in the series(behind part 7) by the MPAA.Betsy Palmer returns as Jason's mom,appearing as a hallucination,she's still pretty over the top.And Adrienne King,the heroine of the first film, also returns briefly at the beginning of the film.How did Jason track her down to the city and not get noticed as he's not the most handsome of fellows?Who knows,this is Friday the 13th,just turn your brain off and watch Jason do his thing.
