Good adaptation of the underground graphic novel has great set design and atmosphere but it's simple revenge story peters out a bit towards the end.Also,I hate to say it but the late Brandon Lee was a bit weak in this at times but overall he does a good job and is pretty striking in his getup.The young actress who plays Sarah was weak as well,typical of child actors.The bad guys however,are fantastic,especially Michael Wincott as the main villain,Top Dollar.Gotta love this guys' gravelly voice,he also gets all the best lines.You also have Coen Bros regular Jon Polito as sleazebag pawnshop owner Gideon,Sully from Commando,David Patrick Kelly as the leader of the goons and the Candyman himself,Tony Todd as Top Dollar's dapper henchman.Overall a solid if flawed comic book/revenge film. |
