Bad movie.Half of it doesn't make sense and just seems thrown in there because it's "cool".It was 92 minutes and seemed like 3 hours. The action scenes, usually the saving grace of a movie like this, aren't even well done.
Awesome, simply awesome. This blows all the other Batman movies away(although that wouldn't be that tough considering the last two,Batman and Robin anyone?),features stellar direction from Christopher Nolan(Memento,Insomnia) and a dream cast, almost all of them are British, maybe that's why they're so good.Did I say the cast was good?Except for Katie Holmes of course, weak. This takes a comic book story seriously, like it was taking place in the real world. The best film of 2005.
Didn't really like this, was pretty bored by it actually. Not a whole hell of lot happened in over two hours and the whole thing just came off like a poor man's Lord of the Rings. The creature design was suprisingly bland, usually you can at least say,"well the effects and creatures were good",not so much here.Well the CGI was alright I suppose but the whole movie just seemed underdeveloped.
Mediocre Clive Owen thriller with a completely miscast Jennifer Aniston as a Femme Fatale(!) ,a predictable story and a ridiculous gangsta subplot.Yeah the business executive is gonna hang out with the mailroom guy, right. Clive, you're better than this.
Annoying as hell direction in this. You know when someone's high in a movie and everything looks fucked up for few minutes?Try the whole damn movie(2 hours plus). It reminded me of Natural Born Killers(visually speaking)but that's a better movie.Mickey Rourke was pretty much the saving grace,he had the only interesting character.
What if Ward Cleaver used to be a killer for the mob? That's the question asked in this very good film, which has some suprisingly explicit sex scenes to go with the quite harsh violence. The child actors are real bad, like young Anakin bad but Ed Harris and William Hurt are great as badass gangsters and Viggo Mortensen anchors the film with a difficult role. One of the best films of 2005.
This was great, epic scale film-making you just don't see anymore. But a little too epic, perhaps. It would have been perfect about 30 minutes shorter(cut the bs subplots and supporting characters)but better too much Kong than too little.Kong steals the show of course, incredible CGI work, maybe the best ever, you actually forget he's an effect and that's an amazing feat.Kong vs the T-rexes,fucking awesome and the rest of the action was kickass too.One of the best of 2005.
A very cool little british gangster flick.Daniel Craig is excellent in this as a clever drug dealer in over his head. This is the film that got him Bond and you can see why. He's very slick and intelligent but has a gravity to him as well.Someone should team him up with Clive Owen, that would be really cool. This is sort of the anti-Snatch,it's not wacky and off the wall but darker and more subtle. The direction is very confident for a first time director and there's an excellent supporting turn by Michael Gambon as a smooth, manipulative mob boss. One of the best films of 2005.
Decent, quirky little flick with Pierce Brosnan as a sleazy hitman.Greg Kinnear is in this as well, doing his usual schtick. But it's Brosnan's show, nice to see him play against the suave guy roles he's had since becoming Bond. Here he's basically just a wacky dirtbag, and he does a very good job at it.
Very good film, not a real pick me up movie, though you probably know that going in(I hope).I was suprised by the direction,it was unlike anything Spielberg has ever done,it didn't pull any punches with some pretty harsh violence, definitely not a glorifed shoot-em up style. Some very good performances here too, particularly Eric Bana and Daniel Craig. My only complaint is it was a bit overlong(almost 3 hours). One of the best films of 2005.
This surprised the hell out of me.I had fairly low expectations but damn,I loved it.It's just so cool to watch, the atmosphere, old school film noir dialogue and sleazy/cool characters.Mickey Rourke stole the show as the badass with a heart. It's like watching a comic book unfold with actors in it.Gory and violent as hell too.One of the best movies of 2005.
This was pretty good I gotta say.Still not as good as the original trilogy but definitely the best of the prequel trilogy. It only took Lucas three movies to remember how to make one of these. It has a really dark ending, obviously and doesn't have any of that(well, just a little bit)coma inducing republic talk. The acting is still pretty bad and Hayden Christensen just fucking sucks as Anakin but it is a satisfying conclusion to the series.I would rank this 4th.
Entertaining kung-fu flick. The fight scenes were well done and pretty savage, which is unusual 'cause fights are usually very glossy and almost dance-like in their choreography.Although some of the "human" scenes were hokey and what the hell was Morgan Freeman doing in this?As a blind piano teacher no less.I couldn't get over that, weird.
