1
The Covenant (2006,  PG-13)
The Covenant
Once you can get over the fact that it's a teen movie (silly plot, and loads of eye candy), it's actually not that bad for its intended audience.
2
American Gangster (2007,  R)
American Gangster
Strong performances by Washington and Crowe make this movie engrossing and richly satisfying to watch.
3
Rendition (2007,  R)
4
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007,  R)
5
Atonement (2007,  R)
6
Gabriel (2007,  Unrated)
Gabriel
Not bad for an Australian movie, but that said, it isn't very good.
7
Evening (2007,  PG-13)
8
Shattered (Butterfly on a Wheel) (2007,  R)
9
Jumper (2008,  PG-13)
10
No Reservations (2007,  PG)
11
Match Point (2005,  R)
Match Point
Dark examination of chance and fate covers familiar ground, but Woody Allen responds to it with a fresh unexpected twist. Good performances all round.
12
Sydney White (2007,  PG-13)
13
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
14
Next (2007,  PG-13)

Night at the Museum
I actually enjoyed it despite not having high expectations.
16
Blue Smoke (2007,  Unrated)
17
The Illusionist (2006,  PG-13)
The Illusionist
First romantic role by Edward Norton. Biel seemed out of place. 'The Prestige' was way better. Sleeper hit.
18
A Good Year (2006,  PG-13)
A Good Year
A story of a man who revisits his past, only to find the lessons he learnt haven't been forgotten, just buried. The movie has its moments, with its lush, beautiful scenery as the backdrop. Sweet, touching and lovely.
19
Gone Baby Gone (2007,  R)
Gone Baby Gone
Ben Affleck's intense directorial debut is a study of human nature and the real struggle with conscience. Gutsy performances by Amy Ryan and Casey Affleck add layers to the raw authenticity of the screenplay. A riveting movie.
20
Sione's Wedding (Samoan Wedding) (2006,  Unrated)
21
The Nanny Diaries (2007,  PG-13)
22

44
Dhoom 2 (Dhoom:2) (2006,  Unrated)
45
The Reaping (2007,  R)
The Reaping
Liked the plot. However, don't you think if she was the devil's child, she would inflict more terror than just making doors creak? Ending seems to pave the way for a sequel.
46
In Bruges (2008,  R)
In Bruges
It's seldom that you get a film that's simultaneously profound and beautifully comic and wonderfully painful, filled with delightful remorse, and, more than anything else, the sweetest, sweetest redemptive qualities.
47
Earthly Possessions (1999,  R)
48
The Score (2001,  R)
49

54
DOA: Dead or Alive (2007,  PG-13)
55
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005,  R)
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
Mindless neo noir entertainment. Like how the protagonist breaks away from the story to mock the film. Enjoyable characters and charismatic stars make it watchable.
56
The Jane Austen Book Club (2007,  PG-13)
57
P2 (2007,  R)
58
Ella Enchanted (2004,  PG)

American Psycho (2000,  R)
64
August Rush (2007,  PG)
65
Junebug (2005,  R)
Junebug
Filled with terrific scenes and strong performances and the director's eye for detail is amazing. You feel that it's not so much what the people say as how they say it. There is a scene that is so pure and moving, when George sings about Jesus calling him home, and how Madeleine looks on in shock, as if seeing her husband for the very first time. Other memorable scenes include Johnny's unexpected reaction when a documentary about meerkats comes on TV, and a poignant moment between George and Ashley in the hospital. Wonderfully honest. A must-see film for any true film fan.
66
Bridge to Terabithia (2007,  PG)
67
Pieces of April (2003,  PG-13)

73
Be Kind Rewind (2008,  PG-13)
74
Shoot 'Em Up (2007,  R)
Shoot 'Em Up
Crazy, mindless fun, but it gets a bit old after the half hour mark. Good action sequences and wisecracks though.
75
Lars and the Real Girl (2007,  PG-13)
Lars and the Real Girl
The whole concept of the movie is absurd for sure, which is perhaps why I couldn't connect with any of the characters. The warmth and acceptance of the concerned community is surprisingly sweet though.
76
King Arthur (2004,  PG-13)
77
Knocked Up (2007,  R)
78
Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961,  Unrated)

92
The Other Boleyn Girl (2008,  PG-13)
93
Good Luck Chuck (2007,  R)
Good Luck Chuck
The only reason for the extra star was for the pebble. Other than that, it's a dumb juvenile male wish fulfillment unfunny romantic comedy. There was enough violence of the mind to grieve the Holy Spirit within every Christian. Anyone who likes this must be brain damaged.
94
Oscar (1991,  PG)
95
I Capture the Castle (2003,  R)
I Capture the Castle

102
In the Land of Women (2007,  PG-13)
103
Persepolis (2007,  PG-13)

A bold and moving coming-of-age story. There's a natural fluidity to it. Offbeat but stylish. Brilliant.

Hors de Prix (Priceless) (2006,  PG-13)
Hors de Prix (Priceless)
Goes to show that love CAN be bought. Lots of name-dropping, but that's to be expected. Has a plot reminiscent of "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

135
The Dead Girl (2006,  R)
136
Because I Said So (2007,  PG-13)
Because I Said So
While I know this isn't a good movie, it was the first time I actually rooted for the underdog in a romantic comedy! So extra points goes to this one.
137
Amazing Grace (2007,  PG)
138
Layer Cake (2005,  R)
Layer Cake
I love crime capers. Always have. But not when they take themselves too seriously. Solid storyline and performances though.
139
Hitman (2007,  R)
Hitman
Sleek but nothing original. Only fans of the videogame should watch this.
140
Eagle Eye (2008,  PG-13)
Eagle Eye
Absurd from start to finish. The movie fails in the suspense department and conjured unintentional laughs instead. Tedious and boring after the first half hour.
141
Hollywoodland (2006,  R)
142
Don't Tell Her It's Me (The Boyfriend School) (1990,  PG-13)

A mindless, badass movie. Stylishly cool and entertaining.
147
The Phantom of the Opera (2004,  PG-13)
148
Under the Tuscan Sun (2003,  PG-13)

Questionable casting, wooden acting, laughable dialogue, and truly awful makeup.
159
To Love and Die in L.A. (2008,  Unrated)
160
Romance and Cigarettes (2007,  R)
Romance and Cigarettes
Besides being awful, it's also pretentious and boring. An ambitious art film gone horribly wrong.
161
Trust the Man (2006,  R)
Trust the Man
On paper, this was supposed to be a good film. It failed to deliver. Crudup and Moore were wasted in this.
162
A Perfect Murder (1998,  R)
A Perfect Murder
Surprisingly, this movie kept me involved and my attention never strayed. My only disappointment with the movie comes at the end, when everything is resolved with a gunshot. Based on Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder".
