Well, i must say this movie was somewhat funny. But somewhat pathetic. I suppose that technically, I was really prepared for such a movie, but I was still a bit disappointed. The story's just been overdone.
Really loved the storyline and the way it was told. It was different and realistic (ish). I think I more or less liked it because you really get to be inside the main character's head. You can understand why his life is so messed up and it even made me yell at the TV, wanting him to make better decisions. But that's what it's like in life; we don't always make the right decisions, and we don't even notice when we're making bad ones. I'm sure if somebody was watching every decision we made, they'd probably yell at us. To sum up, great movie.
Most ratings I've seen were basically all the same: it's Matthews McConaughey running around for 90 minutes with no shirt on. Of course, I didn't exactly mind that, and maybe the movie was a bit empty but I found that McConaughey really fitted the character and the movie really brought out what surfing was about.
No movie has ever scared the shit out of me so bad. Incredibly well done, especially compared to the others. So much action, and it just gets your heart pounding even at times when it's not even that dramatic. Three thumbs up.
Incredible! Amazing! I can't even describe it. I just adored this movie. The filming was so great, the storyline was fabulous. I don't understand what people didn't like about this movie. I know it's certainly not perfect, but it's not often I get to see a movie that I can just get into and zone everything else out.
Really liked this story. Kind of made me think of Spanglish, but with a more teary-eyed storyline (in the sense that the little boy just wants to find his mother after having lost his grandmother). I really enjoyed the fact that the Enrique character followed through with helping Carlitos. Watching this film made me wish I knew how to speak spanish better.
LOVED it. This man stood up for what he believed in. He is a hero to so many people out there. They look up to him. And that is why this is a great film. <3
To tell you the truth, it was disappointing. I was expecting more out of this movie. All the "supposed-to-be-funny" stuff wasn't all that funny. And the storyline was kind of predictable and lame. But I mean, it's not a horrible film. It still made sense and was nice to watch with some friends.
Well, Haza! I finally got my hands on this movie, only to be slightly disappointed. I found that the story wasn't quite as good as the first one. Maybe I was just expecting too much, but it seemed very unlikely that a rich spoiled guy that Santiago seemed to be at the beginning would just end up going to his mother and brother and embracing them into his life like he did.
I have to admit it was pretty good for a thriller/scary movie. I don't usually like them because they are so fake and lack a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to keep my attention all the way through.
Ellen Page just does it for me. She captures her character so well and it's a great storyline. More specifically, I like the little things that go wrong around the end because it makes her seem so imperfect and so... normal.
Quite the gory movie. Not exactly what I expected because I thought it was a horror, then was told it was comedy. What a strange yet nice mixture it turned out to be. The story really worked.
Saw this movie, although from what I recall, it was under the title "Laws of Motion", which made it pretty much impossible to find online (I'm still confused by this). Like it, and would like to see it again. It's very real. I think it captured the dysfunctional family thing well.
I really enjoyed this movie. Vince Vaughn was in it, I figured it would probably be good. Although I did have my expectations lowered a tad because a lot of people had been telling me it sucked. I admit that it wasn't completely hilarious, for the most part, but it was a nice movie that I would say is worth watching because of the nice chemistry between characters + good storyline.
This movie was... not what I had expected. The back cover did not have the same synopsis as the one seen on Flixster, thus not giving me a good general idea of what this movie was about. Although, I still did appreciate the meaning of the movie, I thought it was lacking a certain je-ne-sais-quoi.
