Movies of 2000

Despite it's numerous flaws and cliches, this is still a highly enjoyable film with great cameo appearances by Zooey and Dwight Schrute.

Asian cinema is tight shit man.

I like Ridley Scott quite a bit, but sometimes his movies are just hit-or-miss. Luckily this movie stands out as one of his better achievements thanks to Russel Crowe. Gladiator at times feels strangely similar to Kingdom of Heaven (though it really should be said the other way around because this came out first), but having Crowe instead of the cinematic vacuum that is Orlando Bloom really makes all the difference in the world. The actions sequences are all well shot and the story is fairly engaging. Shouldn't have gotten Best Picture though for the year.

Rick, Jordan, John. I can't see what is wrong with this movie. It's not perfect, nor does it deserve to be considered a classic, but at the very least, Dafoe gives a brilliant performance of cop determined to bring down the vigilantes who think they're doing right. The ending sucked pretty hard though.

This would be really great if it was not for the ending. Seriously, just stop the movie when you have like 2-4 minutes left and you'll be a lot happier. Two thumbs up though for Gary Oldman's fantastic performance.
