Donggabnaegi gwawoehagi (My Tutor Friend) (2003, Unrated)
I watched the second movie first, and it was a real funny, yet fresh comedy so I wanted to see the first one because it's the original... The movie itself very funny, using the unusual story about a relationship between a tutor and their student, but not in an official way like in a school, college, university or something like that... Kim Ha-Neul and Kwon Sang-Woo played well as a couple in this movie, really gave a good show, especially Kim Ha-Neul, she's very funny... Actually, I think that they maybe can cut a little part of this movie because it's too long, especially in the middle, I get a little bored... But overall, it's a fresh and delightful Korean comedy... But I still love the second movie... |

The Last Samurai (2003) (2003, R)
The story about the last samurai period in Japan intercepts well in this movie... But, too much drama I think... The great war thing just near at the end of the movie... Tom Cruise plays well in this movie, as a retired American Captain who being offer a contract from the Japanese to train the soldier to destroy the traitor.. But to me, his performance just standard like in the other Box Office movie he had... Not good enough for Oscar I think... His performance in Jerry Maguire which gave him an Oscar nominee stills better even being a samurai and speak Japanese more difficult than just being an athlete manager.. The stars of this movie, which is Ken Watanabe who got an Oscar nominee in this movie gave a better performance than Cruise have... The scene when his son dead was pretty sad and his act was very natural.. But even that, I think he stills don't deserve an Oscar nominee after all... But the movie was pretty good... It's a great Japanese history... No wonder this movie become Box Office in Japan.. |
