1
Batman Begins (2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
the best sound and cinematography Ive ever seen in a movie. a great restart to a film series about this figure of american mythology. every actor delivered leaving me salivating for the next films in the series. the training sequence was brilliant and the development of the character bruce wayne was as complete and interesting as one could have hoped for. my favorite film of all time.
2
Munich (2005,  R)
Munich
although raiders of the lost ark is still my favorite of spielbergs films, this may very well be his magnum opus, and that is in the light of films like schindlers list and jaws. a masterpiece of the highest quality, every actor, every shot, every line was perfect. the screenplay was beautifully crafted by roth, and geoffrey rush put in a subtly brilliant performance. the musical score was also effective, and despite the long running time the films pacing was flawless. a stellar film.
3
Cinderella Man (2005,  PG-13)
Cinderella Man
one of the most well acted films ever made, this is a touching sports masterpiece in an era where sports movies are all cliche and predictable. brilliant. i had to take off a full star because of the inaccurate and unfair treatment of max baer in the film, but other than this point this film is perfect. if ron howard hadnt directed it i can only assume that the people in the story would have been treated more fairly.
4
Sky High (2005,  PG)
Sky High
i usually hate these corny movies, but this one is fantastic. i laughed out loud at this silly movie and watched it at least three times the week it came out. this is one of those movies i saw with my friends and talked about for some reason, cementing it into my list of favorites.
5
The Island (2005,  PG-13)
The Island
this movie made me love scarlet
6
King Kong (2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
you never want to take your eyes off of the screen. They should have put the wall deeper into the island and a few other cues should have been taken from the original and the 70's version, but this was great. jackson cemented himself as a good director with such a solid follow up to LOTR.
7
Fantastic Four (2005,  PG-13)
Fantastic Four
underrated, this is how comic movies are supposed to feel
8
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2005,  PG)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
the computer animation was incredible, really good flick
9
Kingdom of Heaven (2005,  R)
Kingdom of Heaven
great flick if youre into the era
10
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005,  G)
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
i loved this flick. great subtle humor and very clever. you really have to pay attention to this film to get some of the nuances behind the humor and that gromit is a great character.
11
Grizzly Man (2005,  R)
Grizzly Man
ive seen this film 3 times now and each time it entertained the heck out of me. herzog is obviously a master filmmaker, but treadwells story is also so interesting that it doesnt get old. the man was insane, but to see a man believe so much in what he was doing is oddly inspiring. a sad but thoughtful look into the mind of a crazy bear man.
12
Match Point (2005,  R)
Match Point
if youve read and liked crime and punishment youll love this, johansson is great
13
Madagascar (2005,  PG)
Madagascar
one of my favorite animated films. those leemers are hilarious
14
A History of Violence (2005,  R)
A History of Violence
interesting but some of the scenes were out of place and shouldnt have been there. overall this was haunting and well thought out.
15
Sahara (2005,  PG-13)
Sahara
a lot better than i thought it would be
16
Serenity (2005,  PG-13)
Serenity
a really great flick. inventive and fun to watch.
17
Sin City (2005,  R)
Sin City
a strong story, interesting cinematography and set design, excellent music, and perfect cast would have given this film what it needed to become an instant classic and one of my favorite films. unfortunately a few vulgar, typical, and pointless contemporary movie devices plagued this film a bit to take it down a few notches to an above average film. could have been great, was still pretty good.
18
Elektra (2005,  PG-13)
Elektra
good spin off, most didnt like it but i thought it was good enough
19
Must Love Dogs (2005,  PG-13)
Must Love Dogs
i loved this flick, although diane lanes character had a disapointing moment of sluttyness
20
The Brothers Grimm (2005,  PG-13)
The Brothers Grimm
i liked it, i thought it was fun
21
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005,  PG-13)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
usually i hate movies that go too far over the top. this movie went way over the top on at least a few occasions but i still really enjoyed this movie. it was charming, combining action and comedy and pitt and jolie had great chemistry. there were flaws in the thinking and execution of the movie, but it was fun to watch.
22
Derailed (2005,  R)
Derailed
good flick. the twist was a little predictable and its hard to root for anyone in this film, even clive owen, but it was very entertaining. the last 15 minutes of the film didnt need to be there, the film would have ended better at the hotel shoot out, but overall a solid film.
23
Fever Pitch (The Perfect Catch) (2005,  PG-13)
Fever Pitch (The Perfect Catch)
fallon has no screen presence but this flick is good
24
The Longest Yard (2005,  PG-13)
The Longest Yard
decent movie, entertaining
25
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005,  PG-13)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
the worst of the six, anakin was a little whinny punk the entire time and all he id was murder little kids and get set on fire. he should have been the one to hunt down the jedi. i was one of the few who liked the new trilogy until this one ruined the story. im not sure i can look at darth the same way again, the new trilogy should have left him looking tuff before obiwan beat him, instead he let the clones do the real work. weak.
26
The Interpreter (2005,  PG-13)
The Interpreter
not great but interesting
27
The Dukes of Hazzard (2005,  PG-13)
The Dukes of Hazzard
i was completely suprised that i liked this flick, fun to watch
28
Havoc (2005,  R)
Havoc
basically "kids" or "mi vida loca" for a new generation. more sensual than i was expecting, and pretty silly and even a bit trashy. much like its predecessors in this sub-genre. not a waste of time because it was interesting from a sociological perspective, but nothing to recommend.
29
Proof (2005,  PG-13)
Proof
decent flick
30
Fun With Dick and Jane (2005,  PG-13)
Fun With Dick and Jane
decent, not great. fun if you like jim carrey
31
Yours, Mine & Ours (2005,  PG)
Yours, Mine & Ours
this was a decent family flick
32
Mulan II (2005,  G)
Mulan II
far inferior to the first. they ruin the character of mushu and the ancestors are very different than in the first. feel good but not decent.
33
Domino (2005,  R)
Domino
a blast of 90210 culture added a solid element of welcome humor to the film, but overall the film drowned from over stylization. although i love tony scott, too much of him in this film didnt work well.
34
Stealth (2005,  PG-13)
Stealth
jessica biel has far too great of a tendancy to look beautiful in movies that i want to like, but cant because they are terrible.
35
Rent (2005,  PG-13)
Rent
although the music was pretty good and a few of the performances were solid, this film was an overall dissapointment. the plot was scattered and unclear and the story was told in fast forward. bravo for attempting to tackle tough subjects, but contraversy doesnt automatically make a good film.
36
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005,  PG)
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
mos def was great but the movie was terrible. although i did love richman as a manic depresive robot
37
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2005,  PG)
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D
when i watch a movie with my kids the test is whether or not the film can entertain my kids and whether or not i can tolerate it. the goods kids movies do both, this movie got one out of two. creative and fun, but unforgivably annoying.
38
Constantine (2005,  R)
Constantine
inaccurate spiritual concepts all the way through, kind of silly and poorly concieved with lackluster performances.
39
Jarhead (2005,  R)
Jarhead
terrible, maybe even half a star. boring and pointless, shows the depravity of war rather than the glory, which doesnt make for a good film to watch. makes marines look less like heroes and more like silly high school kids. this may be realistic but that doesnt make it a good film to watch. i only gave it 1 star because jamie fox was good in this one.
