I normally like Woody Allen movies and I normally like movies with Scarlett Johansson BUT not this one. Slow boring and it was one of those movies I kept asking whats the point? Where are they going with this? And lets just say it went nowhere and was a let down by the time the credits rolled around.
One of the faults of the movie is that it's very long and does not do a good job pulling the viewer into the movie's world. Only one scene in the movie gave me the creeps and maybe made the hair stand up on the back of the neck. But all the performances are excellent.
Do I really need to say anything about another Thai horror film turned American. Another film about a creepy expressionless faced asian girl haunting americans. I only watched it because it was the only thing on TV at the time.
I would expect nothing less from the mind of Chuck Palahniuk, I loved the book and I enjoyed the movie. It's vulgar, profane, obscene, funny and of course, clever. It's farfetched but thats Chuck Palahniuk.
Love, love, loved this Guy Ritchie movie. This is not Lock, Stock or Snatch. The actors are all solid, the score and soundtrack balanced the film perfectly and the overall feel and look of the film worked very well.
This was another movie I watched because it was the only thing on TV except this time I was entertained. Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling are captivating as they go head to head. Hopkins chilling performance is subtle yet powerful and Gosling was able to hold his own on screen.
A dark biopic on one of the last executioners in England, Timothy Spall gives a fantastic performance. Portraying Pierrepoint as a cold, calculating professional who takes pride in the precision and accuracy of his job but also a sensitive person racked by the worries and pains of his duties.
No suspense builds and there is absolutely no sense of dread or panic on screen and so none translates to the audience. People do not stand in small groups after a disaster calmly taking turns talking one at a time.
Have you ever been at a friend's house and they get in an argument with another family member or significant other? It can be awkward and maybe a bit embarrassing. That's the sensation you'll feel while watching Rachel Getting Married. An unlikable character in a dysfunctional family having uncomfortable conversations and fights in front of a hand-held camera.
What can I say? It's another Saw movie. I feel this one tried to take on what the fourth movie was suppose to be the how's and the why's behind the first three movies. It almost exposes to much on what we need to know and what makes the first movie work so well.
Australia was a purely beautiful. Slightly weak story line but it was made up for in its cinematography, every shot was composed and set just like a gorgeous photograph. The script has a sort of campiness to it that doesn't really belong - although this could be Nicole Kidman's expressionless performance that she plays in most of her movies.
Penn is never afraid to take a risk, and he nails this performance. The cast around him (James Franco, Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin) was also brilliant. Gus Van Sant does a great thing with including real stock footage without it looking out of place to the rest of the film.
Slumdog has an engrossing story, eye catching visuals, amazing editing and a great soundtrack but it's not unique or one of a kind. The story and acting will take you on an adventure all to similar to that of City of God (which if you haven't seen, I'd highly recommend).
Will Smith's performance is one of his best of his career so far and Dawson is the perfect compliment. The script/story is not the most complicated to figure out before seeing this movie but it's the how's, the why's and when's that keep this movie captivating.
Creative story with flamboyant characters and costume design. Many of the funny scenes have already been exhausted from the previews but there were still a handful that made me chuckle out loud.
