Movies that make me cry

  1. Fyrmer
  2. Aidan

There are a number of movies that just get to me that way. I just can't watch them without getting a little teary.
Oh, and as you may have noticed, som of these movies really aren't the "tear jerker" type of movie. Well, I'm weird, okay?

A truly great historical epic. Eric Bana is amazing as Hector, and Brad Pitt gives us a career revitalizing performance as Achilles.

Rigoletto 4.0 Stars
This film expertly blends shades of Beatuy and the beast, The Phantom of the Opera, and perhaps even Frankenstein or Edward Scissorhands, but is very much its own story, and is a truly beautiful one at that.

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride 4.0 Stars
Tim Burton creates another gothic stop-motion musical masterpiece almost as delightful as "The Nightmare Before Christmas," but a shade darker and a few tones sadder.

In some ways, better than the novel that inspired it.
A few of Lewis' great lines and scenes are sadly missing though.

Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust (2001,  R)
Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust 4.5 Stars
Now THIS is how to do a vampire anime. The art style and overall quality of animation blew me away. It's just plain beautiful.
The story is a great tragic romance in the vein of classic vampire literature, with some very well-written and excellently voiced characters. D, and his sort-of nemesis Meir Link especially impressed me.
And to top it all off, the action is freaking awesome.
If you have even a passing interest in vampire fiction, go watch it. Now.

Sailor Moon R the Movie: Promise of the Rose 4.0 Stars
A well-written, emotionally-driven story, coupled with animation and action that's a signifiacnt step up from most of what the series that spawned it has to offer.
Overall, one of my favourite anime films.

Ladies and gemtlemen, lightning has officially struck thrice! This third chapter of the "Pirates" trilogy is just as rousing, exciting and undeniably fun as its predecessors. In fact, it is probably the funniest--albeit darkest--of the series.
