Drag Me to Hell (2009,  PG-13)
Drag Me to Hell
92% critics' approval?! This is just another supernatural/horror flick with an essentially non-existent plot. I knew it was wrong to expect more.
2
Inglourious Basterds (2009,  R)
Inglourious Basterds
Awesome jewcakes.
3
District 9 (2009,  R)
District 9
They tried to juggle too many balls, and they all ended up on the floor. Anything good this film had going for it didn't get a chance to live. Also, the protagonist is an asshat.

CUTEST FILM

(500) Days of Summer (2009,  PG-13)
(500) Days of Summer
The film starts of strong, but fails to deliver a satisfactory ending. Awesome, but unbalanced.
6
The Young Victoria (2009,  PG)
The Young Victoria
I thought this film was brilliantly shot, and the real story was rewound beautifully into a compelling story of individual strength, trust and power. Emily Blunt was perfectly cast.
7
Up (2009,  PG)
Up
Loved the Elie/Mr Ferguson storyline, but the talking dogs ruined this film. Not single-handedly, however, with some cumulative minor details added, in attempts to appeal to children en mass.
8
Irresistible (2006,  R)
Irresistible
Brilliant, despite being a somewhat amateurish film. The cast is surprising for a small film shot in Melbourne (omg, trams!). The ending was a creepy surprise
9
Push (2009,  PG-13)
Push
Surprisingly really well done. The writer didn't make the common mistake in supernatural films of trying to tackle more than the run time could allow. The only negative criticisms I have are the gratuitous flashbacks (but apparently most people still couldn't keep up, so whatever) and the cutesy supe names like "shadows" and "pushers".
