The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Not as good as my imagination, but a good try at capturing CS Lewis on film. The sound track is freaking amazing--I've been listening to it in the car for the past week and it is capital! Got the 4-disc set for Christmas...the extended battle scene with the bat-creatures was great! They flew just like bats really fly--with the pumping legs and everything. Crazyness.
23
The Constant Gardener (2005,  R)
The Constant Gardener
Great and terrible story. Freakin' movies about injustices in Africa get me everytime. Got it for Christmas!
24
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002,  PG-13)

As good as this movie was, the book was EVEN better, by about 700 pages.

Heart of Gold (Dil Ka Rishta)
Another Aishwarya movie. Great songs & dancing (of course). You know it will all work out okay, but it's never clear how you're going to get there until the end. I loved the part with the two saris.

Fida
Shocking for a Hindi film; I'm still not sure if I'll watch it again.
36
Fiddler on the Roof (1971,  G)
Fiddler on the Roof
If I'm one of the daughters, I must be Hudul (oooh, how do you spell her name?). How can I hope to make you understand why I do what I do? Leaving my home for a distant land, far from the home I love. Who could see that a man would come who would change the shape of my dreams? Happy now I stand with him, watching older dreams grow dim....there with my love I'm home.

51
Hotel Rwanda (2004,  PG-13)
Hotel Rwanda
So good! Puts into perspective a lot of things that happen in Africa.... A great book to read if you liked this movie is "Left to Tell" by Immaculée Ilibagiza. I sobbed all through both and I'll probably watch and read them over and over. I'm looking forward to seeing "Shooting Dogs" and "Sometimes in April" on the same topic.

56
Joan of Arc (1999,  Unrated)
Joan of Arc
An illiterate peasant once saved all of France and drove off the English at the age of 17. You, too, can change history. Any movie that starts with a birth has me hooked from the start, but this entire movie is exceptional.

The Matrix (1999,  R)

Napoleon Dynamite (2004,  PG)
Napoleon Dynamite
Funnier in the retelling than in the watching. Still can't sit through it.
89
The New World (2005,  PG-13)
The New World
Wow. So good. It's always hard to tell how these 'historical' movies will turn out, but this was very believable and I actually found myself liking it. Although I suppose it sort of glossed over the tragedy of the Americans losing their land to Europeans. But it was great to see the world--both Old and New--through the eyes of Pocahontas. Really beautiful.

130
Super Troopers (2001,  R)
131
S.W.A.T. (2003,  PG-13)
S.W.A.T.
Yeah, just re-watched this. It's okay for a movie, but what a poor portrayal of what police work is actually like--very obvious now as I'm behind the scenes and know what even simple chases require from the officers in the cruisers. Forget it.
132
The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999,  R)
133
The 10th Kingdom (,  Unrated)
The 10th Kingdom
I loved this movie when it was first on TV. It's very cool. It appeals to the part of me that is still a child full of wonderment and thinking that behind any tree could be a land of fairy tales.
