The Virgin Suicides (1999, R)
Sophia's first movie! Virgin Suicides was a haunting and beautiful movie based on 5 teenage sisters who are in the awe of neighborhood boys. One suicide haunts the family and forces seclusion on all girls by an overly protective mother drives them to commit their lives. Set in the 70's, the soundtrack is the best with great music from a variety of great musicians such as Al Green and Heart. Kristen Dunst was the cutest in this heart felt movie with the handsome Josh Harnett sporting a great 70's do, along with cameo's by Danny Devito and Scott Glenn. A favorite of mine. |

Friday (1995, R)
Now, this was original and well done by Ice Cube. Just a typical day in the hood, with his best pal Smokey, played hilariously done by Chris Tucker! Now, I wonder how it will be to just sit outside your house and see all the adventures in your neighborhood! Hilarious movie, with great supporting actors to make it more funnier. Great soundtrack with the old school music to bring in this perfect hilarious comedy. Just watch it and enjoy! You won't be sorry! |

200 Cigarettes (1999, R)
One of the funniest New Years movies! I always watch this every year, just to remind me of how we are all scrambling to get to a party before the midnight rolls in. With an all star cast with a kick ass 80's soundtrack, it all begins with the funny Martha Plimpton that plans a party to which appears no one is going to show and tries to amuse her only guests on why she thinks people hate her. The whacky taxi driver with his life's motto played by Dave Chappelle, giving tactful advice to all his passengers throughout the movie. Then there's the clumsy Kate Hudson paired with the Jay Mohr, the melancholy Paul Rudd with Courtney Love, and many more actors that all bring this hilarious movie to see who will be able to find love before midnight. The ending is classic when Plimpton tired of waiting for people to show, drinks herself into a coma, and misses out on one of the best parties she threw. Its funny and crazy, and I just love this movie! Great to watch during the holidays. |

Dazed and Confused (1993, R)
This is for the people that like to party. A true comedy on how a teen's life was back in the 70's. A nostalgic era filled with classic rock from Alice cooper to War with Lowrider, and much more. School is out for the summer and these guys are getting ready to party. ;) Great movie and fun to watch. |

Grease (1978, PG)
One of my favorite cool musicals. The fact that John Travolta can sing and dance pretty good with his swing moves, made me fall for the Danny Zuko he played. Just lovable characters all around in this cool rock musical. Olivia Newton John is awesome as Sandy and potrays her as the innocent girl that finally gets to be cool in the end. The HS dance scene is the best with great music numbers. Stockard Channing will always be known as Rizo and she is great as the head of the Pink Ladies. Just a classic and I love it!!! One of my favorite all time movies to watch. |

Vision Quest (1985, R)
Great soundtrack to this classic tale of High school wrestling, and the first time love of Louden Swain, played by the adorable Mathew Modine. It is a chick flick with the sweet story of his ambition to beat the top wrestler in his county, and how he struggles to prove he can take on this goal and to also prove that he can find romance in an older woman played by Linda Fiorentino, although he has tough times reaching what he wants. Just one of them go getter movies, that has you cheering for him. A cute movie, but made for the young teenagers or the ones that want to relive the 80's. ;) With the opening music from Journey, this also has an awesome soundtrack to make the movie more better. :D |
