Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Amazing! Depp and Rush steal the show here, the story though simple is fun just the same. The real treat are the secondary characters who are all brilliantly protrayed and make this movie what it is! Fanatastic ship to ship battles and sword fighting, amazing special effects, and brilliant filming make this a MUST see!

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
This one seems to have the same feel as the first and doesn't suffer from the silliness the second one had at awkward times. Still it was obviously rushed through in order to have a completed script, cause of some of the obsurd bits and a slight disappointing Davy Jones story. But you need to see this film multiple times to get it and get the rightfeel for the characters and you'll understand why they do what they do. That I think is what the writer's captured perfectly. Who their characters are. After a couple showings you'll learn to like it, because there are so many good parts and a massive fight scene at the end that takes you breath away! The last 30 minutes of the film are the best and have the right feel and fun to the whole series.
Unfortunately it has some problems. Don't have a cool Chinese pirate played by Chow Yun Fat in the movie and have him do almost zero amount of fighting on screen. We need to see some cool martial arts sword play!
Also the BIG Calypso reveal is so corny and over the top, that you'll just roll your eyes. It should been done differant and not like some old B movie.
Fear not though, there is some good on the horizon. Knightly shows some great acting chops this go around and impressed me greatly. Depp of course captures the almost now insane Sparrow in his usual hilarious fashion. Bloom, though won't be winning any Oscars anytime soon, still does a decent job and works well with his costars, especially Skarsgard. Rush, Davenport, Skarsgard, Hollander, and all the other secondary charcters give grea performances and don't get overshadowed by the lead cast.
The special effects are top notch and you will be blown away by the end scene and laugh at the Hultiple Jacks bits.
AT WORLD'S END is a movie you'll learn to like if your not sure about it at first though you'll have to devout some time to it because of how long it is. It's worth your time and is a great ride.

"The King and his men stole the Queen from her bed /And bound her in her bones./ The seas be ours and by the powers/ Where we will, we'll roam. Yo ho, all hands, hoist the colours high/ Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!/ Yo ho, haul together, hoist the colours high/ Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!"

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist (2002,  PG-13)
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist
If you already laugh at badly dubbed Japanese movies that aren't supposed to be funny, then you'll find this movie hilarious. It's got some good laughs and fairly funny suprises around every corner. The humor fits in well with every shot taken from the original movie and the whole thing is edited seamlessly so that it's hard to tell what's been added. Except when it comes to people. Then most of the time it's very obvious. But the special effects aren't very important to the story, but when they do pop up, they just add to the humor at how terrible some of them are. This film is good for some great surprise laughs, so what you think will happen, probably won't. So if you want a mindless comedy then check out this movie. It's a whole lotta nuts.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Greatf film and pretty faithful to the book. The acting is good, especially by those who play the teachers at Hogwarts. Kudos go to Harris, who nails the character of Dumbledore right on the head, and to Smith who also gives a great performance. The kids do a touch and go job with a few rough spots Grint probably does his best here then the first film while Radcliff and Watson also give good performances. Wright has a couple of rough spots, but she does a good job coming onto the scene. The most noteworthy performance though is Coulson. He plays Riddle perfectly and I hope they bring him back for future installments. The story follows the book, pretty closely, but of course omits some parts. I was looking forward to seeing the deathday party, unfortunately it was on of the parts omitted. Still the pacing is good, and the special effects are okay with a couple of rough spots. Still we're glad Harry went back to Hogwarts.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001,  R)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Hard to believe they could come up with enough funny stuff to fill an entire movie on these two, but Smith did and suceeded! It's hilarious, one of Smith's funniest movies, and you can't help but smile during the whole film.
Smith and Mewes aren't the best actors in the world, but they're talented and likable enough to get by. Ferrell does a good job too and so far this is tone of THE only movies he's in that I actually like. Most of the rest of the cast is made up of celebrity cameos.
The celebrity cameos are the best especially the stuff with Damon and Affleck. Kudos to all celebrities who were in this film and didn't mind making a joke about themselves in the process.
The other cool thing is how Smith brings a lot of his characters from his other films into small parts that were usually saved for the main duo in the movie. Some of the jokes are inside jokes and unless you've seen the other movies you won't get some of em(the only one I haven't seen is CHASING AMY, but I was still able to laugh at those jokes). The one part that I didn't find funny was thankfully not in the movie, but in the deleted scenes.
It's a goofier, less character driven version of the ViewAskewniverse, but that made it all the better. So if your a fan of Smith's Jay and Silent Bob then you'll love this movie.
END OF AND DURING CREDITS: Some bloopers during cast list and a short scene at the end of credits.

"You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him......and sometimes, you have to go back to the well."
"And sometimes, you do Reindeer Games."
"See, that's just mean."

A Bug's Life
A true Disney/Pixar classic. Back in it's hey day when all of Pixar and Disney collaborations were good, this one was a favorite. The story is great and imaginative filled with an amazing variety of characters and places. It's full of jokes for both the young and old, so you can laugh along with the kids. A great voice cast here, with everyone matched perferctly to their character. The animation is also excellent with both water, sand, leaves, everything looks beautiful. Disney just doesn't make like this anymore, so pick up a copy today and watch were you step on your way home.

Planet Terror (Grindhouse Presents: Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror) (2007,  R)
Planet Terror (Grindhouse Presents: Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror)
Grindhouses counterpart proves to be the best of the two, because it combines pure fun, explosives, and quotes you can't help but laugh at. The acting is great accept for wooden performances by Rodriguez's little kid and Skip Reissig who plays Skip. I found Skip the most annoying because he had more screen time. Kudos to McGowan and Rodriguez who are the most fun to watch. The story is great except for one detail. The details missing with the "Missing" Reel. In it you loose a lot of details about El Wray that I thought would help change the transistions from one part of the movie to another. Yeah it probably was on purpose, but all it did was annoy me. It's my only real problem with this movie. The special effects are great, and the Sicko makeup effects are amazing! It really surpasses Deathproof performance and ending wise. Rodriguez does great work and makes yet another rewatchable film that did come fully loaded.

Iron Man (2008,  PG-13)
Iron Man
A film that stays away from most superhero cliches and makes it all the better. The acting is good and Downey shines as the sarcastic Stark. Paltrow did a good job, but it seemed as the movie went on her character got dumber. The story is great and has some good twists and turns, but there isn't a whole lot of action in this film, cause it more origin story then anything.
Stan Lee's best cameo in any of films so far. I actually laughed out loud when he was on screen and it makes up for his corny cameo in SM3. So the movie managed to live up to it's hype and proves to be a great start to a brand new franchise.
17
The Incredible Hulk (2008,  PG-13)
The Incredible Hulk
Yeah it defintly outshines the orignal attempt at a film version, but it doesn't qualify much as a superhero movie when most of it is spent on Banner running away a lot. Still the film as some cool moments and a stellar cast helps make it shine. Tyler, Roth, Nelsen and Hurt each gave good performances. Norton did a good job too he just didn't jump out at me until towards the end. A bunch of cool refrences to the TV show that I enjoyed spotting and Stan Lee's cameo is always fun to look for or course. The story was good and I'm glad they didn';t try for another origin story. The characters travel pretty far of the course of the whole story and given plenty of detail. And there was a lot of detail given to the Hulk as well with a lot of vein and muscles that made this CGI character stand out pretty well. The ending is pretty sweet and defintly let's you leave the theater happy. Also depends on what theater you see it in, but there is a bar scene at the end of the credits. So it paves the way for more movies where the Hulk can smash all he wants.

Hancock (2008,  PG-13)
Hancock
Why did EW hate this movie? I thought it was great! In an age of super serious SuperHero movies we finally get one with good light humor in it. Plus thow in some great emotional acting from Will Smith and great stuff from Theron and Bateman as well. Great story with some pretty cool twists, but the one with Theron you kinda see coming that something is up, you just don't know what it is.
And the humor was a major plus, and I laughed a LOT.
It kind of takes a differant turn towards the end, but the cast carries it there and back just fine with every believabilty.
Special effects were good, with a cople of trouble spots, but nothing worth whining about.
It's a cool, well written yet differant superhero movie that may not be as big a thinker as say "Dark Knight", but we don't need to be deep thinking when we go see a movie all the time. Some time we just need to be entertained.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2) (2008,  PG-13)
The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2)
ehh...so yeah. Not really "action packed", "a thrill a minute", or even a "scarefest". Mostly what it did was answer the one question that everyone but me seemed to care about. What happened relationship wise with Mulder and Scully. Have no fear they answered that question. And basically it plays like a long episode which makes the film not half bad. A little long but nothing an X-Phile wouldn't mind watching. But being like show doesn't mean it really follows. I mean in the last episode the government was chasing them in missle filled black helicopters and now their all forgive and forget? I don't buy it. Still they had to come out of hiding somehow.
Duchovny and Anderson did a great job and fit right back into their roles with ease. Connolly I'm also a big fan of and he did great. Xzibit I'm glad that he just isn't another Ice Cube and plays differant people, and does it well.
The story was good, just needed to play faster in order to keep people hooked, but it managed to answer all the questions involving the case (unlike some of the show episodes)
So unless your an X-Phile, you might have trouble believing that I actually like this movie, but it should have made for TV.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005,  PG)
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Decent enough movie full of british humor that not a whole lot of non brits will get, but it managed to make a watchable version of the books. The song is great at the beginning and the acting is great. I mean everyone. Probably my favorite film that Deschanel is in. Rickman is hysterical and gets the best lines. Also the scene with the gun is oddly very touching and would be my favorite part of the film, which is strange since this is a comedy. Well if you can laugh at Monty Python style humor then DON'T PANIC, cause you will probably llike this film. If not then you can at least enjoy the dolphins song at the beginning.

Holes (2003,  PG)
Holes
A great movie that follows the book very closely. It's one of my favorites for a perfect story, cast, and the pacing of the movie itself.
The acting is great from all involved. The kids themselves are especially great and could stand on there own. The adult actors through the whole story are excellent too with Arquette, Vioght, Nelson, and Weaver giving their best.
The story might be hard to follow at times, because it does a lot of jumping around from the past, to the present, and back too a completely differant past. Still it all comes together in the end, leaving no holes, but the ones already dug. The only bad thing were the bad CGI lizards that make a couple appearances. Thankfully they're not there a whole lot.
This movie is defintly worth seeing many times and is a good family movie and should be satisfactory for fans of the book.

"You girl scouts want to hear a story. Once apon a time there was a magical place that never rained... The end."

Not Another Teen Movie (2001,  R)
Not Another Teen Movie
A genius spoof movie that hits the mark evey time. It pokes fun at a genre that needed to be laughed at, but still have some respect for some of the great movies they're making fun of.
The cast is excellent and fit into their cliche roles perfectly. Evans, Leigh, Pressly, Quiad, Olsen, Jungmann, McMains, they all do a great job. Throw in some hilarious cameos from Mr. T, Molly Ringwald, and Paul Gleeson and you've got yourself a great movie.
The story has a perfect mix of movies from the 80s to the 90s which is one of the reasons I like it, cause it's just not a bunch of random sketches and pop culture refrences like the newer spoof movies.
*cough* Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's movies *cough*.
It's well worth watching if you get the chance so check it out!
END OF CREDITS: Scene shortly after the credits have started and also at the very end of the credits.

"All I said was, "I'm pretending to whisper a big secret in your ear, so Jake here thinks that I'm telling you a big secret, which will cause him to break into a hysterical confession where he actually reveals... a big secret. Thus confirming everything I just whispered in your ear."

The Matrix Reloaded (2003,  R)
The Matrix Reloaded
The more intense, yet more confusing next chapter in the series. I have to admit, that anytime the characters started to get in a deep discusion I was lost. It was too confusing and fast most of the time. Still the stunts are cooler then the first and the fights step it up a notch. I enjoyed the Neo vs. Smiths fight. It was fun and cool to watch. Course I just like Weaving's Smith. He gets the coolest lines and is the best performance in the whole film. The special effects are spotty in a couple spots, but only to the experienced eye, to everyone else they'll even more amazing then the first. And thankfully we didn't get an overuse of the 'bullet effect" that was made so popular with the first. So I think the fans of the movies fights will be satisfied, while everyone else will be left scratching their heads at the story. They might have to see it a couple times to get it all.

"I killed you, Mr. Anderson. I watched you die... with a certain satisfaction, I might add. Then something happened. something that I knew was impossible, but it happened anyway. You destroyed me, Mr. Anderson. After that, I understood the rules, I knew what I was supposed to do, but I didn't. I couldn't. I was compelled to stay, compelled to disobey. And now, here I stand because of you, Mr. Anderson. Because of you, I'm no longer an Agent of this system. Because of you, I've changed. I'm unplugged. A new man, so to speak. Like you, apparently, free."
"Congratulations."
"Thank you."

High School Musical (2006,  Unrated)

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986,  PG)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Good, funny movie that is classic John Hughes style. It captures what every high school student has dreamed of one day or another and the main "kids" are all ones we can identify with, even now. Hughes' movies manage to resonate with every generation in a way that most childhood movies fail to do and soon become dated. This and his other films (THE BREAKFAST CLUB anyway) don't do that.
Perfect acting from Broderick who can breaks the fourth wall seamlessly and gets right back to the scene almost perfectly that you almost don't even notice it happening. Sara and Ruck are great as well and it's a treat to see Ruck in any bit part he seems content to be min these days. Jones and McClurg also do great in their short scenes together and Grey was perfect as Bueller's sister. Also one of the coolest moments is the small scene with Charlie Sheen before he wasen't a very big star yet.
Great 80s movie and perfect for all Hughes' or just 80s movie fans in general. Defintly worth your time checking out.
DURING AND END OF CREDITS: A scene plays through the whole credits and there is also a short clip at the end of the credits that is worth seeing.

"Drugs?"
"Thank you, no. I'm straight."
"I meant, are you in here for drugs?"
"Why are you here?"
"Drugs."

Airplane 2 - The Sequel (1982,  PG)
Airplane 2 - The Sequel
Even though we get most of the same cast, except for it's key member but I'll get to that at the end, and some funny cameos this movie is almost identical to the first with one noticable exception. The first one was funny. This one not so much. What was off this time around? Bringing back almost everyone and not making up few new funny characters for one thing. Some of the same jokes, only reworded, for another. And it just felt like the same movie through the whole thing. There were a quite a few funny lines and Shatner is funny when ever he's not trying to be serious. But this spoof was missing the one thing that makes all spoofs great. Leslie Neilson. Without him it just isn't funny enough. And maybe if the same guys who wrote and directed were on board it would be good, but no. They didn't so, it doesn't.
But it's not completely terrible. Like I said some funny cameos and the word play is still funny this sequel just doesn't make it off the runway.

"Can I ask you a question?"
"What is it?"
"It's an interrogative form of sentence, used to test knowledge. But that's not important right now."

Max Payne (2008,  PG-13)
Max Payne
Kinda slow and not nearly enough action scenes. It instead focuses on story more, so if your expecting an action packed movie like all the trailers suggested then think again. But in that sense it really felt like a graphic novel or book the way it played out from one scene to the next. It was well acted and I was impressed by Kunis and Ludacris out of everybody. Walhberg didn't really make any progression character wise through the whole movie. He was just the same guy through it all.
The story is pretty cool and fits together well as a crime drama, but it just doesn't move fast enough or keep you interested for it being such a long movie.
The other thing is once you find out where the angel/demons come from then you can kind of guess what is going to happen from there thanks to the trailer.
I was hoping it be something like another shoot em up, but instead get three differant gun fights and that's it. More action and this movie would have been great.
END OF CREDITS: Short scene after the credits.

"There's an army of bodies under this river, people who ran out of time, out of friends. I could feel the dead down there, reaching up to welcome me as one of their own. It was an easy mistake to make."

Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007,  PG)
Alvin and the Chipmunks
A clean family comedy that kids will enjoy. Everyone else, not so much. First off, Jason Lee is great here, but his biggest problem was he just can't do the "Alvin!" shout. It just doesn't pack the same punch as the cartoon voice actor's did. Everyone else does a good job here, especially Long, McCartney, and Gubler, who voiced the chimpmunks. They idd a fantastic job and Cross is also fun to watch. The story is pretty simple, but a great way of telling their background story. The songs everyone will enjoy, from the new stuff, to the old remixed ones. So yeah, take your kids, you'll get some good laughs here and there and you won't have to worry about what your kids are laughing at.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007,  PG)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Better then the first, but still not my ideal super hero movie. It would be more suited for a two parter on the cartoon show. Still there are some good comedy moments where you can laugh out loud. The action sequences are okay at best, but most of them were in the trailers. In fact all of the Surfer's action moments are in the trailer, so you don't see anything new. Though Johnny Storm has some cool moments with his powers and it was cool with how they worked that into the film's story. The story has a major plot hole as to how does Doom come back alive? It's never really clearly explained and bugged me for most of the film. Acting is good with no bad jobs here. Chiklis gets kudos for walking around in the suit again and Evans gets kudos for giving a better performance without so many "hot" jokes as in the first installment. So if you like the first one and don't mind a somewhat predictable ending if you know anything about comic books, then you'll probably think this movie is , well, fantastic.

Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
I fianally got to see what is said to be the greatest film of all time, and wasen't disappointed. This film as it all-action, romance, humor, and special effects that don't overbear. I only had a couple problems with this movie, 1) during the action sequences it's hard to tell what's going on when the scenes are at their most intense moments. I mean the giant robots do take up a lot of camera room, so that makes it hard to tell what all the human characters are doing. 2) There isn't a whole lot of deep character moments, some of the chacaters are given moments where we see a little deeper into them, but the rest are just along for the ride. Now for the good news. The special effects are top notch and don't over-load your senses like say STAR WARS, but are perfectly matched against the rest of the movie. The acting also is top notch from EVERYONE, and I can't reall complain about anyone. Kevin Dunn and Julie White, who play Sam's parents, give an especially hilarious performance and shine evry time their on screen. Shia LaBeouf continues to give amazing performances and rules the screen here as well. The story is good and you don't have to know anything about the series, toy line, or prievous films to go see this movie which I was glad to find out. The action, humor, and romance are mixed in just right and you'll find yourself laughing one moment and going WHOAH! during one of the filoms action scenes. A good summer film, go see it on the big screen if you still can, because the action will be downplayed on your TV screen.

Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control (2008,  PG-13)
Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control
An okay secondary movie, within a movie. Oka and Torrence make a good comedy team and are fun to watch. The multiple cameos are also fun as well. Mays was good, but Miller and Manoux were just the same guys they always play. Dominczyk is just eye candy most of the time.
The story is decent and works for it being a short movie and the special effects are suprisingly good. So if you got this as the bonus two pack at Wal-Mart then it was worth your money. Otherwise, wait for a TV showing, but still see it.

"Why's that door always broken?"
"Why is our main elevator a telephone booth?"
"Good point."

Yes Man (2008,  PG-13)
Yes Man
A good laugh out loud comedy that will ge quite a few chuckles out of you from start to finish. The bar scene is the best, even though you've seen most of it in the trailers. Carrey is at his best and not over the top insane, but evenly balanced. Deschanel is her usual quirky self and Darby provides some great laughs.
The story takes a simple premise (say Yes to everything) and turns it to comedy gold and Carrey was the perfect man to do it.
It's worth a watch at the box office if your tired of all the serious stuff that's been coming out lately.

"Are you stalking me?"
"No, i would never do that."
"Oh by the way, the new furniture looks great from the yard.'

Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009,  PG)
Paul Blart: Mall Cop
A decent movie that had some good moments and then not so good moments. But I could have lived if I waited to see it on TV.
The acting is good by everyone with James using his weight for comedic effect every chance he got. Mays was good and I think that the movies she's in will only get better and better. O'Donnell made a decent bad guy even for being in a comedy movie.
So the story is pretty clever at times and the funniest scenes are when Blart is taking on one of the "baddies" who are in the mall.
Yet the last 10 minutes seemed a lot like the first two DIE HARD movies (minus the explosions).
Still there are a lot of dumb things in the movie that fall short of their mark and makes this one worth seeing, but wait till it's on TV and you can see it for free.

"I took an oath to protect this mall and that's what I'm going to do."
"But we don't have and oath."
"I kind of made up my own. It's on a plague at home."

Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story (2004,  PG-13)
Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story
Not as funny as I hoped but there was still some good laughs and good performances throughout the whole movie. The one person I didn't like though was Stiller. His character is funny at first, but starts getting completely stupid and annoying as the movie goes on.
But there is some dynamite performances from Vaugn,Taylor, Tudyk, Long, Cole, Bateman, Pyle and Torn. All are funny and great in their roles. Some of the funniest stuff comes from Bateman and Cole commentating on the games.
So the story itself is a cool idea and the laughs comes mostly from people taking groin and face shots from multiple dodgeballs, and yet strangely it doesn't get old in the movie.
I guess the one thing that kept me from really liking this movie was Stiller's character, if he hadn't been so annoyingly stupid and arogant then I would have loved it.
Still it's got enough laughs to make it worth watching a few times.

"Well, I guess if a person never quit when the going got tough, they wouldn't anything to regret for the rest of their life. But good luck to you Peter. I'm sure this decision won't haunt you forever."

Coraline (2009,  PG)
Coraline
I don't quite get why Selick's movies are considered Children's Movies, because this whole movie is just plain creepy. And if you've seen any of his other movies then you already know about his weird imagination that makes his movies so strange, yet great, to watch.
And I love stop motion animation, I'd rather see a movie like this over some crappy quickly produced CGI fair that Disney seems to like doing without PIXAR. It's just amazing some of the things they can do in this movie, and at the end of the credits you get a little idea of how it's done.
The story is great and the whole movie is filled with Selick's unique imagination, so his fans will have plenty to see.
Voice acting was great, with Fanning leading the way with a great performance. I'm also glad there wasen't a whole lot of star power behind this movie cause that is just distracting most of the time and doesn't add anything to the film.
The other thing that really impressed me was the 3D. Instead of constently throwing things at you, it just gave the "in the movie" feeling that made it really cool to watch.
This really didn't seem like a little kids film, because it will creep you out a lot, but the excellent animation, story, and voices will help someone of any age enjoy it.

"How can you walk away from something and then come towards it?"
"Walk around the world."
"Small world."

My Name Is Bruce (2007,  R)
My Name Is Bruce
It was alright. I was hoping for it to be way funnier then what it turned out to be though.
A lot of the jokes are for people who have seen Campbell's other movies and are BC fans, otherwise it will probably just be another mildly funny B Monster movie to everyone else.
There are some good laughs, but even for it's kinda short running time it still seemed to run to long.
The acting was decent, but a lot of the extras seemed like they were in...well...a B-Movie.
The whole movie is like, while making fun of B movies, it turns into one.
The only people who won't be bored with this movie are Campbell's fans and people who like laughable monster movies, so it's mildly funny and the DVD is worth renting for some funny bonus features and easter eggs.

"You know Jeff, I've gotten a lot of use out of chainsaws over the years. Killed a lot a zombies, saved a lot of lives, but at the end of the day when push comes to shove... they're just too damn heavy."

Four Rooms (1996,  R)
Four Rooms
Okay, the first half of this movie I could completely skip. The first two room's stories, which were by Rockwell and Anders, didn't appeal to me at all and weren't interesting in the slightest. The only redeeming factor for both stories were (even though the cast for both did a good job) was Roth's parts as the bellhop. It added enough comedy to the stories to make me watch through the whole thing.
As for the next two rooms, those by Tarantino and Rodriguez, were very good!
Rodriguez's had that great mix of humor and weird story mix that makes me love his movies, while Tarantino's had that great writing that makes everything his character's say sound real and in the moment and really focused on the dialogue. I could instanly tell whose story is was, because they were both filled with their styles.
If those two had done the other rooms as well then I would have enjoyed this movie a lot more, so the first half is worth sitting through for the great stuff at the end.
Acting wasen't flawed at all through the whole movie.
McKissack and Tomita really stood out as amazing child actors. Tarantino proves his chops as a skilled actor during his segment of the movie. Banderas provides some good laughs and for some reason Tomei's performance really stood out to me even though she isn't onscreen for very long and plays a pothead. She was just hysterical.
But the real star is Roth who is so far away character wise then any character I've ever seen him play. His character is so bizzare and odd some times though I can't really say I liked the character he was.
Well this movie was decent I'd say and was a great collaboration btween four talented writers. So if your a fan of any of the four's writing then you really should check this movie out.

"Well... admittedly, that was the best part of the evening. It was pretty bloody good, actually... but it's still a pretty unnerving way to start off the night!"
"Sounds like a pretty great way to start off the night to me."

Miss March (2009,  R)
Miss March
Well I was lucky enough to see this movie for free, so I can't really complain. My suggestion is wait for it on TV or borrow.
It was an okay movie, but I was expecting something better from "two of the Whitest Kids You Know". These two should go back to making that show, because it was funny almost all the time.
Moore and Cregger were funny through the whole movie though with Moore coming out at the top, being the funniest almost everytime he was on screen.
The stuff with the firemen, the scenes in the mansion, and the Lesbians we're funny and I got what I expected from seeing this movie. It's worth watching with some friends, but not paying the price of the admission ticket.

"Dude this is just like when Han got unfrozen in Jedi."
"Yes Tucker, this is exactly like that."

Fired Up (2009,  PG-13)
Fired Up
Okay I was actually surprised out how entertaining this movie was. It didn't have me laughing out loud the whole time, but it kept a smile on my face through the whole movie from start to finish.
Olsen and D'Agosto are really funny together and defintly made this moviedecent! Harshman, Cho, and Norman are great too as the minor cheerleaders and Walton made a great stuck-up jerk.
The story is an okay idea, but it gets the job done. They do try too hard to make this film have a PG-13 rating though and that adds to some of the humor.
So if you want to see a no brainer movie that is filled with a lot of hot cheerleaders then you might as well check out this movie, though you might want to wait till it's on DVD.

"Bottomless breadsticks only keep you at Olive Garden for so long. Eventually you look up and say "What the hell am I doing at Olive Garden with all these fat people?"

Monsters vs. Aliens (2009,  PG)
Monsters vs. Aliens
I just wasen't very impressed with this movie. I mean the 3D effects are great, the voice acting is perfect, however all but two of the funniest moments were in all the trailers I had seen already.
It's a cool idea and filled with 50s B-Movie Monster nostalgia for the older audience members and the kids will love the 3D though so it's good for all ages.
Acting was perfect by all with Rogen (who I can't stand normally.) being hysterical as BOB and Colbert was the perfect President. Also worth noting are Sutherland whose voice is almost unrecognizable, Laurie was a perfect mad scientist, and Wilson who made a good alien.
I can't say this was Dreamworks best though, because it becomes predictable towards the end. As far as I'm concerned, Dreamworks hasen't come out with anything great since ICE AGE and SHREK.

"Don't push that button."
"Why not? This is the coffee button."
"No that launches every missile we have.'
"Which one is the coffee button then?"
"The one on the right."
"That's right."

The Fast and the Furious (2001,  PG-13)
The Fast and the Furious
A movie that, thankfully doesn't just focus on the fast cars but has a decent story and cool racing scenes as well.
Great acting from Waker, Diesel (he's born for these kind of movies), Rodriguez, Brewster, and especially from Lindberg who was my favorite character.
There is some great action scenes here and if any of the car chases are CGI then I can't tell which ones.
Decent story and it's got some okay twists and turns I guess but nothing that's really surprising.
I liked it. Great scenerio, simple story, pure fun. A great action movie.

" You're brave! You're brave! They call me Hector. Gotta last name too, but I can't pronounce it."
"Brian Spilner."
"Typical white boy name, know what I mean? "

State of Play (2009,  PG-13)
State of Play
A very well written story that is full of great twists and turns. Even though the story "Corruption in D.C." has been used countless times already, the depth of the mystery and the well written characters make the story VERY engrossing.
And don't let the movie's long running time dissuade you from seeing the movie. It moves at the perfect pace to keep you in suspense and entertained.
Crowe was perfect in the role and fit into greatly. Afleck was also great as the congressman and gave a good performance. Mirren was funny and got some of the best lines.
The movie was a great mystery story mixed in with a little whodunnit and suspense. Defintly worth seeing in theaters.

"Did we just break the law?"
"No, that's what you call damn fine reporting"

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
A sequel that lives up to the original! The only problem I really have with this movie is there are some comedic moments that just upset the moment of the film and just don't fit in at all. Their also questionably funny as well.
But it's also a stronger movie in some aspects. The characters become more complexed and developed. Like Davenport's Norrington didn't serve much of a purpose in the first film, just as a secondary nemesis for Sparrow. But this time around he's more complex and we see a darker, more human side to him. Davenport did a great job in his role and shines as a supporting character.
Even though Barbossa was a great villian, this time around we're given a villian with a mysterious back story and great moments on screen that make you wonder. Nighy is amazing as Davy Jones and should have recieved a nomination for best supporting actor for the rolefor all he had to go through to make the character and he became one of the most memorable villians in movie history. Excellent work!
Of course you can't review the movie without bringing up Depp's amazing performace as Sparrow. His character gets even more detail, but still retains all the quirks that made you love him in the first one as well.
Bloom and Knightly make a decent onscreen couple and are good in both their respectable roles.
There is one outstanding sword fight this time around and it's when their on the island. It's truely amazing and one of the best fights I've ever seen. It gets more and more entertaining as it goes on and starts to include more people. One of the best parts of the film. Also the fights against The Kracken are amazing work of CGI and are intense and creepy every time.
The story has more detail and the pacing is great as they race against the clock to save who each of them wants to save and cliff hanging ending is one of my favorite movie moments ever! I always geek out about it every time I see it. It was just perfect.
It's a great and satisfying sequel and one of my favorite films of all time.

"Lord Beckett desires the contents of that chest. I deliver it, I get my life back."
"Ah. The dark side of ambition."
"Oh, I prefer to see it as the promise of redemption."

X-Men Origins - Wolverine (2009,  PG-13)
X-Men Origins - Wolverine
It was a pretty awesome movie that had a strong cast, but falls short in a few places. We get introduced to a lot of cool characters and don't get to know them for very long before we don't see them again. Bolt (played great by Monaghan) has very little screen time at all. Same thing with Wade (who is basically every character Reynolds has played, only in mutant form, but he does such a great job at it) who was an awesome character and then we never learn anything about him really. At least until the Wade Wilson/Deadpool movie comes out.
Gambit was a little bit better at least, but still there was no other story telling involved for any of the characters, except Wolverine. Yeah it's his movie, so I can understand that, but if your going to put the coolest mutants yet in a movie then it be nice to see as much as possible of them.
Jackman fits into the Wolverine role as perfectly as always, but Schreiber is the one who shines in one of his best roles yet as Victor. He was pretty cool and was almost more interesting then Wolverine.
I wasn't expecting much when I heard will.i.am was part of the cast, but he gives a good performance for it being his first live action feature film. Well done!
The special effects start at strong, but it seems like towards the end of the movie they started running out of money or someting, because they slowly start to go bad. Not terrible, but obviously CGI.
The story was strong in places and had a good mix of humor and heart with a couple twists to keep you a little interested, but if you've seen the other three movies, then you already know what three main characters aren't going to die and basically how it will probabl end. That's the trouble with prequels.
So yeah it's a decent movie and will keep the X-Men franchise alive, but we could have gotten so much more if the movie had been about more then just Wolverine. If it's gonna be his movie, then make him the coolest mutant there. Don't give him 8 other mutants to be shown up by.

"You were sentenced to death for decapitating a Senior Officer. Your sentence was carried out by a firing squad at ten hundred hours. How'd that go?"
"It tickled."

Shanghai Knights (2003,  PG-13)
Shanghai Knights
A good sequel that manages to be funnier and have cooler fights then the first.
Wilson and Chan are in their element and fit perfectly into their roles. Wilson as the not so bright sidekick and Chan serving up plenty of impressive fights that are choreographed and filmed perfectly with a mix of laughs and impressive stunts. The best fight in the film would have to be the one between Chan and the street gang, because it was funny and amazing.
As far as cast members go Wilson and Chan do alright, but nothing really differant then from what we've always seen them do already. That's why I think Fisher, Johnson, and Gillen are worth noting. Fisher plays Doyle down to the tee and provides more amusement then most of the other characters in the whole film. Johnson, as Chaplin, manages the feat that few child sidekicks accomplish. Not being annoying. Not once are we ever annoyed with the kid. Last is Gillen as Rathbone and he plays the greasy villian with perfection. I think he gave the best performance in the whole movie and did a great job.
The story is funnier then the first with more historical characters scattered throughout who would have never met each otherwise and that's where most of the laughs come from.
It does move a tad slow sometimes, but I don't think it's something anyone will notice during the first viewing.
If you liked the SHANGHAI NOON or any of the other Jackie Chan comedies then you'll get a good KICK out of this one.
BEFORE THE CREDITS: Cast bloopers

"Hey, Chon, you're lucky I didn't invest in that ridiculous "auto-mobile" idea. Yeah, that's gonna make a lot of money."

Shrek 2 (2004,  PG)
Shrek 2
I enjoyed this movie and I think it's a pretty strong sequel to the first film. It might not be as funny as the first, but it has a strong story to it and amazing CGI to go with it.
The cast do a good job and Myers is perfect as Shrek, but the real treats were Banderas as Puss and Cleese and Andrews as the King and Queen. They were all outstanding in their voice acting and funny the whole time. Murphy borders on annoying at times, but doesn't stay there for very long times it seems which everyone will be grateful for.
If you liked the first one then you'll probably enjoy this on too and I think adults would enjoy this one more as well and not just the kids.
END OF CREDITS: It depends what version you watch, but I know the VHS version and DVD version do show the 5 minute scene at the end of the credits. Also there is another scene halfway through the credits as well.

"Stop, ogre! I have misjudged you".
" Join the club. We got jackets."

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009,  PG-13)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I feel the same about this one as I do about the first, it's just okay, but not really great. There wasen't as many plot holes as the critics made it out to be, but I still wasen't blown away by the story. It was a lot take in and it wasen't explained very well from start to finish, because it seems they just want to get to another scene with an explosion in it. So it's a typical Michael Bay movie.
Acting was decent, LaBeof did a good job, but I think Duhamel and Gibson did just as good and Dunn and Write also did great and were very funny as the mom and dad. Fox did decent, defintly better then the first, but I just can't take her seriously until she is stopped being used as a sex symbol and gets to be there for her acting and not her body. Until then I can't give her any respect as an actress.
Special effects are amazing! There is no doubt there, but you don't get to much of a chance to admire them before its B( blown up or B(moving far to fast for you to even tell which robot you are even looking at or tell what they're doing.
I just think this film could have had such a better story, easier on the eyes, and more enjoyable in the hands of a better director then Bay or at least maybe a better script maybe.
It's a case of if you liked the first then you'll like the sequel just as much probably, but if you plan on checking it out then don't expect much more then more robots and more explosions. The only reason I can suggest seeing it in theaters is for the cool special effects and a spin shot that lasts WAY to long and will actually make you dizzy.
DURING CREDITS: There are a couple scenes during the beginning credits, but only for the first few minutes, nothing at the end.

"I hope those F-16 pilots have a good aim."
"Oh yeah? Why's that?"
"Because I told them to roll in on the orange smoke."
" THAT orange smoke?"
"It wasn't my best throw..."

The Haunted Mansion (2003,  PG)
The Haunted Mansion
For everyone who had a problem with the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies having nothing to do with the ride, then you shouldn't have any problem with this movie at all. There are a LOT of subtle and not so subtle refrences to the rides that just looking for them all and can make this movie entertaining in some way.
As for as the movie goes I didn't really find it all to funny or very scary either, but it is still kind of a fun Disney movie at least that I think most kids will enjoy. It's got good solid performace from both the kids (Davis and Jefferies) as well as the adult roles. Murphy and Thomason make a good married couple, while Parker and Stamp play creepy ghosts perfectly. The cast members that do the best though are Tilly as Madama Leota, she does an excellent with a mostly small role, and Shawn and Waters as the ghostly hired help. The two of them steal most of the films laughs away from Murphy.
It's a movie worth checking out, especially if your a fan of the ride or the parks in general.
END OF CREDITS: Scene at the end.

"You try. You fail. You try. You fail. But the only true failure is when you stop trying."
"What do you want me to do? Huh?"

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II (2008,  Unrated)
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II
Like the first it's a mix of bad stuff (Jedi Injury Lawyer, opening scene, and most things with the Emperor) but a lot of good stuff.
Plus adding the voices of Carrie Fisher, Billie Dee Williams, and Ahmed Best as their original charactes helps to make it a cool STAR WARS experience. Also some top notch voice actiong from Meyer's excellent voicing of Fett, Benrubi's spot on impersonation of Vader, and MacFarlane bringing an obnoxious Emperor to life.
If you liked the first one then you'll defintly like this one as well and I hope the guys from Robot Chicken crank out a third soon.
END OF CREDITS: Short Sketch

"Luke what's wrong?"
"I just can't believe Ben's gone."
"Ah did the eighty year old man you just met yesterday die? I mean sorry if I didn't notice I was a little busy thinking about my entire family and the other two billion people from Alderaan who were just vaporized into dust about three hours ago."

Robot Chicken: Star Wars (2007,  Unrated)
Robot Chicken: Star Wars
A must have for STAR WARS and Robot Chicken fans! This is hilarious from beginning to end. Right from the start it had me laughing with the AT-AT sketch and ending is with the chickens doing the star was theme is great! Cameos from Lucas, Best, Fatone and Hamill add to the hilarity. One of the best sketches is McDowell's Imperial Orientation. He does it perfectly!
The only one I didn't get was the Zuckuss Show sketch. That one just wasen't funny.
I recommend getting the DVD because the included on air bumps are just as good as the special was.
Even though it's short, the laughs are pretty continous throughout.
END OF CREDITS: Short sketch

"Your overconfidence is your weakness."
'Your faith in your friends is yours."
"Not my faith in yo momma..."
"What was that?"

Toy Story & Toy Story 2 in 3D Double Feature (2009,  G)
Toy Story & Toy Story 2 in 3D Double Feature
Did this have to be in 3D? No, no it didn't. Same movies, the 3D effects add nothing to the expierence. Nothing seems to fly out of the screen at you and you don't feel like your actually in the movie or any of the cool stuff that happens with good 3D movies.
Save your money and wait for them to come out with a DVD that has both 2D and 3D versions on it and see it that way.
A funny 5 minute intermission helps get you through the over 3 hours of movies time, but if you have a kid with a short attention span that can barely make it through ONE movie, then good luck getting them to sit through two of them.
The movies themselves are great, but Disney didn't need to 3D it. I applaud them for making it a double feature and only charging the price of one 3D ticket. At least they were trying to save us some money, while still actually making some money for themselves.
INTERMISSION AND END OF CREDITS: If you don't need to use the bathroom then go ahead and stay for the intermission, becase there are some good luaghs there. Also there are the same blooper's over TOY STORY 2's credits as before, cept now they're in 3D!

"ROAR!"
"Hey, how ya doin', Rex."
"Were you scared? Tell me honestly."
"I was close to being scared that time."
"I'm going for fearsome here, but I just don't feel it! I'm think I'm just coming off as annoying."
57
Zombieland (2009,  R)
Zombieland
A decent zomedy, but there are other ones who do it better and manage to be funnier.
Still this one isn't bad in part because of Harrelson's great performance, and delivering most of the laughs. Eisenberg, Stone, and Breslin all do a great job as well.
There aren't really any scares in this movie, it's more of a comedy with "cool ways to kill zombies" scenes. And some of them are actually pretty cool, especially at the theme park. Also the opening credits are some of the COOLEST around and are almost worth watching by themselves.
If your looking for a fun zombie movie that you don't have to take too seriously then this is probably the movie for you. It's not the funniest, but it has some good laughs and cool, stylized action moments.
END OF CREDITS: There is a short scene at the end of the credits.

"I'm not great at farewells, so uh... that'll do, pig."
"That's the worst goodbye I've ever heard. And you stole it from a movie."
58
Tropic Thunder (2008,  R)
Tropic Thunder
Great movie and Tom Cruise has earned more respect from me. It's not something that will keep you laughing from start to finish, but it will keep a smile on your face from beginning to end. It's a got a great story and adds something differant to Hollywood while still poking fun at Hollywood itself. Speaking of hollywood it seems that everyone is in this movie. You'll have fun just wondering whose going to pop up next. Great stuff from Black and Downey Jr. was the most hysterical character in the whole movie and gave an amazing performance. Stiller played his same old self to perfection. It works for him in this movie though really. Fantastic movie, I had fun watching it.
DIRECTOR'S CUT: Nothing extra really worth seeing. The added scenes aren't really funny enough to have been added and the alternate ending on the DVD isn't as good as the original one. Still it's just a slightly longer version of the movie so it isn't bad, but not worth your extra bucks unless you really liked the orginal version.
DURING CREDITS: Beginning of credits features some funny clips that are worth sticking around and watching.

"All right fellas, we're gonna make camp, rest up. Y'all might be in for a treat.
You know back before the war broke out I was a saucier in San Antone. I bet I could collar up some of them greens, yeah, some crawfish out the paddy, yo'! Ha! I'm makin' some crabapples for dessert now, yo! Hell yeah, ha!
"Hell yeah! Ha! That's how we all talk? We all talk like dis, "suh"? Yes suh, ha! Yeah mmm-hmm get some crawfish, and some ribs, ha! Ye-aah. You're Australian! Be Australian! Excuse me, Kangaroo Jack! "
".....I get excited about my foods, man."

The Fourth Kind (2009,  PG-13)
The Fourth Kind
This movie could have been quite better if it had been done differantly. If they had just shown the "real" footage and interviews instead of mixing it with the filmed Holloywood stuff then it would be a bit more believable. Either that or put it all during the credits to make you think maybe it was real after all. Instead your constantly thinking, "If they can fake it THIS way, then how am I supposed to believe that they didn't fake the real stuff too?". That and the archive footage was all scarier then everything else. No offense to Jovovich, but the actress they got to play the "real" Abigail Tyler was way more frightening then she was. That woman could have been onscreen for the whole movie and would have been scarier then what they did.
The acting isn't terribel by the credited cast, but the real talent was in the uncredited people who protrayed the "real" versions of them. They certainly make it all seem real while you watch the movie.
Story has some good stuff too it and like I said, if they had gone a differant direction then this might have been the scariest alien movie since SIGNS. Yet it didn't quite make it. Instead they threw in some creepy owls and camera effects to try and make you jump out of your seat. There is a good creepy feel throughout the whole film (what if it's real, what if it's fake, ect. ect.), but my butt never left the theater seat so it didn't really scare me.
It did manage to pull my leg though, because the "real" archive footage manages to look real and seems like something you would see on THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL in one of their alien shows. Then I checked at this little bit of info on imdb.com-
"According to promotional materials from Universal, the film is framed around a psychologist named Abigail Tyler who interviewed traumatized patients in Nome. However Alaska state licensing examiner Jan Mays says she can't find records of an Abigail Tyler ever being licensed in any profession in Alaska. Ron Adler, CEO and director of the Alaska Psychiatric Institute and Denise Dillard, president of the Alaska Psychological Association say they've never heard of Abigail Tyler"
Yet again Hollywood gave us their version of a "true" story that was no more real then anything else they've given us in the last few years. Yet this film manages to be a good leg puller and the "real" stuff will make you second guess your beliefs, but won't need to under-go hypnosis to realize Hollywood got you once again

"It cannot be God....but it can pretend to be."

DURING CREDITS: During the credits what might be "real" reports of UFO sightings are played.

The Godthumb (2002,  Unrated)
The Godthumb
Not the best of the thumb movies, but defintly not the worst. If you liked the other ones, then you'll like this spoof of The Godfather. If you didn't like any of the others then you probably won't find this one funny either.
Oedekerk and the rest of the voice cast do a good job of lending their voices (and some of their fasces) to the roles and manage to make this short film entertaing at least and not too long.
If your a fan of the series then this one is worth checking out.
DURING CREDITS: Clips of Electro Robo-Boogie II are shown during the credits.

"Afraido?"
"I don't ah talk much in this movie."

The Boondock Saints (1999,  R)
The Boondock Saints
This movie might have been a little over hyped for me, but I still managed to like the cool characters and sheer craziness of the whole movie.
Reedus and Flanery have amazing chemestry and are completely believable as brothers. Dafoe is pulls off a new level of insanity and weirdness in his part. Connolly and Rocco round out the cast nicely in their roles.
The story is clever and intriguing, with some laughs thrown in here and there to keep you in a good mood.
My only problem is the film could have moved a little bit faster and some of the gunfights seemed to be lacking some of the coolness that the rest of them had. That's the only real problem with this movie is the pacing. The cast, story, and execution are all excellent and top notch for a first time director and is very impressive.
Is still worth watching even with those faults and is a guilty pleasure when it comes to movies. Check it out when you get the chance.
DURING THE CREDITS: Interviews with people about their opinion on "The Saints" play during the beginning of the credits.

"Me! *Me*! I'm the guy! I know everyone! Their habits, who they hang out with, who they talk to! I've got phone numbers, addresses! I know who they're f******! I know where they live! We could kill *everyone.*"
"So what do you think?"
"I'm strangely comfortable with it."
