Captain EO (1986,  Unrated)
Captain EO
I must admit, I've only seen this film twice, and I'm very impressed, good story, excellent talent, awesome soundtrack which includes 2 great tracks by the star of the movie Michael Jackson-the songs are: 'We Are Here To Change The World' and 'Another Part Of Me' which adds a peaceful colour to the movie , and it's fun to enjoy and watch.

Captain EO made full use of its 3-D effects. The action on the screen extended into the audience, including lasers, laser impacts, smoke effects, and star fields that filled the theatre. These effects resulted in the seventeen-minute film costing an estimated $17 to $30 million dollars to produce. At the time it was the most expensive film ever produced on a per-minute basis

This should be released on DVD, the movie's popularity is HUGE, so why not is it available to purchase on DVD, it'll make a lot of money! And Michael Jackson, will be very pleased and happy!

Ghosts (1997,  Unrated)
Ghosts
As a life long fan of Michael Jackson, you could argue that I am bias. But one of the reasons why Jacko's career is so amazing, is his music videos. No artist in history has created as many fantasical music videos as he. Billie Jean, Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Leave Me Alone, Black or White, Remember the Time.... This list goes on, Jacko is a quality entertainer!

The dancing is spectacular, The soundtrack is awesome, the melodies and rifts are vintage Jackson and the special fx are superb.

Sure, it could be seen as Thriller of the 90's, but who else could produce such a thing? Madonna? not a chance! anyone? not even close!

What suprises me the most is its limited release and promotion. If the music was publisised more and the short film was given its deserved air-time, then people would have to stand back and watch in ore of a true genius at work.

10/10, As music videos go, Ghost is spectacular and only the true King of Pop could produce such a masterpiece!

The Wiz (1978,  G)
The Wiz
I read someone else's comments on the Wiz that I totally disagree on and would like to comment on. Someone said that the film was racist and that only black people appeared in the movie. That is very untrue. The movie has a mixture of both black AND white people, and if you think about it,in the origional "wizard of oz" I don't recall seeing any black people in that movie at all. I love "The Wiz" because it took "The Wizard of Oz" to a more interesting level. It was set in New York, it kept the storyline of the origional and adjusted it in different ways which I thought worked very well ! My favourite character is the scarecrow (played by Michael Jackson) because he suited the part perfectly !! Being the sweet, shy and kind person that he is. I think he really brings the film to life, and I'm constantly rewinding the part of the film with him and the crows! He's adorable!. R.I.P Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Thriller (1983,  Unrated)
Thriller
'Thriller' remains the greatest of the pop music promos to have a plot, great visuals, and a tip-top song to wrap the film around. Michael Jackson was at the top of the tree at this time (and not so altered in his plastic surgery regime for it to matter). Here he is in good form - the song is terrific, he leads the zombies in dance like no other.

Ola Ray plays the girl who watches with incredulity as her sweet boyfriend (Jackson, natch) turns into a werewolf! Then to the pulsing rhythms of the opening line 'It's close to midnight', he stomps around the graveyard with the other zombies and creatures of the night.

The crowning glory of all this is the fruity voice of the great horror star Vincent Price speaking in the middle of the record. Terrific.

Michael Jackson - Moonwalker (1988,  G)
Michael Jackson - Moonwalker
This movie is great.

Now, I do tend to like my films heavy on the story and dialogue, but now and then, something like Moonwalker comes along, and it's watchable, despite numerous flaws.

This film is no more than a highly entertaining Michael Jackson advertisement. Beginning with sickly video set to 'Man in the Mirror' a montage listing his achievements, and bits and bobs from his career, it goes through all the highs of his life, then crashes down into a really, really entertaining segment which acts as a funny music video for 'Bad' and 'Speed Demon', following the adventures of MJ as he runs from manic stop-motion fans, and finally dancing against a rabbit costume. The stop motion isn't that bad as some would have you believe. It's passable.

Then we see the great video for 'Leave me alone', and straight into the main feature.

Yes, the plot is laughable. Very laughable. We see Michael walk out of a building, then get shot at by thousands of troops. Then we hit flashback, showing MJ and three children stumbling upon an underground lair. 'Mr Big' (Joe Pesci) is the nefarious villain who has a plan to get every child in the world hooked on 'drugs' (no specifics are mentioned) at an early age. MJ and the little girl he is with get caught, then chased... yada yada yada. The plot isn't really the important part. We get two very cool sequences where MJ turns into a car, then a robot-spaceship thing, and of course, the amazing 'Smooth Criminal' sequence.

It's a so-so film, but it is fantastic for anyone who likes MJ. It has most of his greatest hits, and some cool little bits, and some quite good special effects (the Robot/Spaceship sequence in particular) Worth it, especially seen as though you can pick it up for about a quid on ebay. It'll keep the kids quiet for a couple of hours, as well as most 20 somethings who were kids when it was first released.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984,  R)
This Is Spinal Tap
This Is Spinal Tap is brilliant on several levels. It is a hilarious comedy, the music is excellent, the concept is fantastic, and it is a wonderfully accurate spoof as well.

The preparation which went into this film included going on tour with the band Saxon, which allegedly inspired the superb sequence where the band gets lost backstage on tour. Although Status Quo claim the film was based on them, it was from the Saxon tour that much of the detail was taken.

The characters, though, are quintessentially British. David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel (whose amplifiers go up to 11 instead of the usual 10) and Derek Smalls are archetypes of faded British rock musicians desperately trying to be cosmopolitan in an industry dominated by bigger, bolder, louder Americans.

If you are a rock fan you will laugh long and loud at this film. If you are a British rock fan, you will laugh even louder. And watch out for the surreal Stonehenge sequence, which proves once and for all that standards of arithmetic teaching are not what they were....

Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008,  R)
Repo! The Genetic Opera
A breath of fresh air in these formula times. While everyone else cashes in on old titles, brands and superheros, the film is surprisingly unique. Totally new age and ultra hip, it makes u feel you hang somewhere between the future and the past. A totally non-earthy feel, yet human storyline and characters makes for a strangely 'happy' movie. The is story is marvelously set by the comic strips in the introduction, on to which the whole family/love drama is pasted on. The musics great, especially 'Zydrate Anatomy' and throughout the movie the story and dialoges are brilliantly delivered in songs, and even if your are not a fan of musicals, this will make you want more. BRILLIANT!!, although the ending could have been more ... dramatic

Michael Jackson's This Is It (2009,  PG)
Michael Jackson's This Is It
A strong feeling of love towards myself, everyone around me and planet Earth is what I left the cinema feeling. Michael was alive again for those two hours. This Is It showcases the King of Pop at his finest.

As the lights blackened and the Columbia Pictures animation played, the theatre erupted with cheers of "I love you Michael" and "God bless you Michael". After the chaos died down the audience sat in awe as the King did what he did best; he thrilled us.

From the rocking tunes of They Don't Care About Us and Beat It(which I was particularly impressed with) to those real toe tapping hits such as The Way You Make Me Feel, Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin' Something to the beautifully emotional songs that really showcased Michael's ability as a singer such as Human Nature and I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Michael truly dominated the stage. Every single person in the theatre was singing along and clapping for and after every song. I was over the moon with the recreation of the Jackson Five seeing as The Love You Save is a touching one for me. The real fun came with the especially theatrical numbers that were Thriller and Smooth Criminal, both had me in fits of happiness. Then, after a dramatic and heart touching rendition of Earth Song, Man In The Mirror drew the whole show to its close, emanating love and Michael's passion for people to make a change.

I saw not one single thing, in my opinion, wrong with this film and I believe everyone will enjoy it. If you aren't a Michael Jackson fan, while you may not appreciate the significance of This Is It, you will sure as hell have a brilliant time. And if you are an MJ fan, you will truly appreciate the greatness and strong sense of meaning behind the final documentation of the true King of Pop's work, the legacy of Michael Jackon.
