One of the old style musicals, very good in it's day, but not really for me.
14
Camelot (1967,  G)

The Jolson Story
I grew up with this film and thought that this was what actually happened within the life of Al Jolson, but after reading more about his life I find that this is not the case.
However, It is still an entertaining film with many of Jolson's classic songs which takes me back to my childhood and watching it with my grandparents

80
Gypsy (1962,  Unrated)
Gypsy
This is a brilliant film, however I prefer the singing and acting featured in the remake with Bette Midler.
The "gotta have a gimmick" number doesn't go well at all in this film.
81
Jolson Sings Again (1949,  Unrated)
Jolson Sings Again
Again a slightly more fabled look at the life of Al Jolson with this sequel to The Jolson Story. Still entertaining with lots of Al's later songs as well as his standards
82
Bugsy Malone (1976,  G)
83
Cabaret (1972,  PG)
Cabaret
A classic, Liza Minnelli is the definitive Sally Bowles and Joel Grey is amazing as Emcee

Chicago (2002,  PG-13)
Chicago
Prefer the stage show to the film.
85
A Chorus Line (1985,  PG-13)

I love this film and also the stage show and unless you've seen it before you are guessing right until the end.
86
Grease (1978,  PG)
87
Grease 2 (1982,  PG)
Grease 2
I think this film is so much better than the original, with Grease we already knew they were going to get together, but in Grease 2 there is always the element of doubt on wether or not Maxwell Caulfield is going to get Michelle Pfieffer. there is one part of the film that I can't watch with a straight face anymore - ever since a guy has his winky pop out of his shorts as he's running!!
88
The Great Muppet Caper (1981,  G)
89
Labyrinth (1986,  PG)
90
Mary Poppins (1964,  G)

Muppets From Space (1999,  G)
94
The Phantom of the Opera (2004,  PG-13)
95
Rent (2005,  PG-13)
Rent
Even though dialogue has been moved, songs have been dropped and it is more a musical film rather than being a rock opera, this is a fantastic film!
96
Tommy (1975,  PG)
97
Xanadu (1980,  PG)
98
The Muppets' Wizard of Oz (2005,  Unrated)
99

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
This film is wonderful! Was very surprised that so many actor had good voices too!
Jamie Campbell Bower was lovely (and cute) as sailor boy Anthony and a great performance from Ed Sanders as Toby.
Great twist at the end
104
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1984,  Unrated)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
A wonderful production, however I didn't like the way it ended much and in my opinion the new film is a lot slicker and better paced.

Angela Lansbury is great as Nellie Lovett, the songs are fantastic - I can see a revival of this musical coming back shortly.
105
Camp (2003,  PG-13)
106
Dreamgirls (2006,  PG-13)
107
Hairspray (2007,  PG)
Hairspray
Really enjoyed this film, it is better than the original but i think that's because of the music. A wholly enjoyable film.

The only thing that I didn't like in this film was John Travolta's voice - every so often he sounded like the guy from 'The Simpsons' the one who runs/owns the cartoon/sci-fi memorabilia store with the ill fitting clothes - I was half expecting john to come out with 'Worst Episode Ever' Apart from that - really enjoyed the film
