The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951,  G)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
One of the greatest Sci Fi films of all time.
2
I Married a Monster From Outer Space (1958,  Unrated)
I Married a Monster From Outer Space
Basically 'Invasion Uf The Body Snatchers' but closer to home. Very well done and great cinematography.

So very cool!
3
Invaders from Mars (1986,  PG)
Invaders from Mars
In it's day, this was a very scary, at least to a young boy. More body snatching alliens in this one. Excellent cinematography and great but simple sets.
4
The Amazing Colossal Man (1957,  Unrated)
The Amazing Colossal Man
Beauty and the beast from an 'atomic age' perspective. Excellent 'James Dean' style performance from Glenn Langan.
5
The Giant Gila Monster (1959,  Unrated)
The Giant Gila Monster
"My baby, she rocks,,,and rolls." Classic 50's 'teen' sci-fi horor. Hot Rods, dancing, Rock n Roll and a Giant monster.
6
Them! (1954,  Unrated)
Them!
A very well done suspenseful Sci-Fi, horror film. Question! Did these types of movies help make us more responsible for nuclear experimentation by informing us of the dangers? (I realize ther are no giant ants but you know what I mean!)
7
It Came from Outer Space (1953,  PG-13)
It Came from Outer Space
Another 'Red Scare' Sci Fi classic. Came out the year Joe McCarthy was elected to office. Still, Lots of fun!
8
The Killer Shrews (1959,  Unrated)
The Killer Shrews
1962. I've not seen this in years. I loved it as a boy. It represents an 'ideological change' from 50's 'atomic guilt and fear' Sci-Fi to 60's 'loss of innocence and corruption within' Sci-Fi.
9
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956,  Unrated)
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
Fun effects in this. Cool cinematography! Mid 50's Sci-Fi film warning of science having consequences.
10
Forbidden Planet (1956,  G)
Forbidden Planet
A very high quality 50's Sci-Fi classic starring one of the most famous robots of all time. (Danger Will Robinson!) This film deals with human nature however.
11
The Angry Red Planet (1959,  Unrated)
The Angry Red Planet
Another post war Sci-Fi classic dealing with Communist aggression yet, it came out in 1960 prior to the public awareness of Viet Nam. Question! Was this a warning of what is to come i Asia or a warning to stay out of Europe for WW III?
12
This Island Earth (1955,  Unrated)
This Island Earth
This Sci-Fi Classic is rather complex in meaning.
13
Tarantula (1955,  Unrated)
Tarantula
Another post war atomic age Sci-Fi classic.
