Finishing one of the best summer movie seasons in memory, Seth Rogen follows up last year's successes with Pineapple Express and Ben Stiller may have finally made a good movie with Tropic Thunder. This fall is harder to predict, though Sam Mendes is finally releasing another movie and, big surprise, it looks great. Harry Potter and James Bond movies are inevitable, but the last installments raised the bar and promised more to come. The release of Frank Miller's The Spirit has curiously been moved up to Christmas weekend, and after wonderful fourth quarters in 2006 and 2007, I can't wait to see this year's Oscar bait.

I can only imagine that such a great cast and director would only come together if they had a great film on their hands. This has Oscar written all over it.

Aside from curiosity about what Marc Forster's take on the material will be, this is a must-see because it is a follow-up to 2006's best action movie. I hope Daniel Craig stays with it for as long as the movies attract other great talent.

Though I'm not familiar with Will Eisner's graphic novel, I am familiar with director Frank Miller's storytelling sensibilities, and I tend to agree with them.

Each book seems better than the last, and so does each movie.

It has a great concept, a cool trailer, and early Oscar buzz.

Despite my general distaste for Ben Stiller's comedies, the cast for this one looks promising and the trailer is hilarious.

Watch the redband trailer and try not to laugh. Just try. Although I am not sure what I think about a parody of Pulp Fiction... is that not what this is?

I don't mind political incorrectness if it has valid entertainment value. I think controversy will make this one successful.

The trailer is ambiguous, but the cast and story suggest an Oscar contender.
