I honestly can't see why people find this funny. Jim Carrey takes his comedy too far. not enough of a point and just too many disapointing jokes thrown into 87 minutes. i almost turned off the TV while watching this. just doesn't have enough steady direction. it was too focused on Carrey bringing humor to the screen that every other aspect was ignored here. and such revolting acting.
I will admit it's a very entertaining movie, and has surprisingly good effects for an '80s film, but a giant portion of the make-up and sidesteam acting was enough to annoy me. i still think it's a great and fun movie to watch
Shocking, hilarious and a great turn for the Coen brothers. A comedy with a very unusual and mysterious plot. It doesn't matter what was going on, it was just fun to sit through.
Uh... can't say what the plot is. Not because it would ruin anything, but because it didn't make a lick of sense, and it didn't have to. The humor was just like the first time in front of a jack-in-the-box; winding the toy, not knowing what to expect and then... BHAM!; a total shock. The first several minutes are tiring and not too bright. It does pick up though. Ah! I wish I knew how to write a worthy review for this movie to show just how great it was, but it's really difficult.
So... let's move on. George Clooney, ah yes. He is the movie... a big part in fact. His witty, bachelor charisma made me laugh and smile [not to give anything away, but he only gets funnier to watch when he becomes paranoid].
Brad Pitt had a limited part, but every scene of his was top notch. He's a sweet, innocent, clueless gym trainer who has some queer incentive. from the trailer, no one can really see him as being gay [northing's wrong with homosexuality, I'm just trying to organize room for this review, is all], but how he acts in here was also... quite a shock. So much energy and emotion. I haven't seen this amount of effort from him since Fight Club. Which does bring me to his laugh, of course. His laugh was brief... and that's okay. It always bring a smile to my face when he delivers that subtle loony laugh of his. Can't wait to see him next in this December's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
So... after alls the thought I put into my previous paragraphs, now it's time to see if I really can come up with an opinion on the plot. Okay, well I guess it's a mystery/thriller that involves a series of disclosed divorces i.e. - Osbourne (Malkovich) & Katie Cox (Swinton), but Katie's sleeping around with Harry (Clooney) whom is sleepy around with several woman, including Linda (McDormand), while his wife is unaware and out-of-town.
AND: Osbourne gets laid-off from his job and decides to write a memoir. Katie kicks him out of the place and he's left to live on his boat. ALSO: Linda is self-conscience about her appearance and desperately wants it to change with a series of surgeries, only she can't afford them. Then a fellow employee of hers, Chad (Pitt), comes along with a disc of assorted documents about Osbourne Cox. So, they assist each other to blackmailing this man and getting a hefty money reward from him. One thing leads to another, letting people die, false hypothesis going underway, and having absolutely nothing to link any of this together. So... [I apologize for all the "So..."s] like I mentioned earlier, there's no plot, really. J.K. Simmons even said so himself, "Call me when... uh... when this makes sense".
Oops! I left out J.K. Simmons. Yes, there were many others affiliated with Burn After Reading, but J.K. is a very important aspect in the humor department. Once the first act of "crime" is taken, the CIA takes it to the top with its Superior (Simmons) to sort it all out. J.K. and David Rasche, together, made two hysterical scenes that both were equally exciting to see. The conversations between the two were placed perfectly and was... uh... I'm speechless. They were perfect! There, that sums it up.
Yahoo for the Coen brothers! I felt this was a major step up from No Country for Old Men. Most may disagree, but that movie had no effect on me. But this one was great! It may be because it was a completely different style then No Country for Old Men. If anyone is disappointment by the recent releases to the theater like Disaster Movie, College, so forth, then go and see Burn After Reading. It'll be worth it.
A thriller that keeps on giving scene after scene of clever workmanship. Spielberg not only provided a wonderful cast, but also a brilliant take on the life of Frank Abignale Jr. This film is just amazing. The film's intensity progresses throughout the movie. I definitely think that any one who's any one should see this. It's quite a shock!
Such a twisted movie. Exactly what I were to expect from Stanley Kubrick. Great Story, great dialog and just overall, well done. A visual Masterpiece. A must see for...anyone.
if you saw it the way i did, it would appear as no shock

SLEUTH WILL BE VIEWED ONCE MORE TO DETERMINE THE "END" RESULT
I am very surprised by all the drastic negativity this film's been getting. It has its flaws like any other, but no need to completely hate this. Benjamin Button has a story that is wonderfully portrayed. The slight disappointment that carries on is the CGI'd Pitt, and the aged Blacnchett's mindless mutter as Daisy. I mind this to be an exceptional joy and a big surprise by David Fincher. He's never done anything so brightly drawn out before. Always know for the darker side of life through the lens, Fincher goes above and beyond on his latest project. Still, while many oppose this is a highly manner, those same individuals may have a strong attitude towards Fincher's previous films. Liking, disliking, anything between, seeing the changes go on. Benjamin Button is a change of two men. The character within the story, and the one out of it. My rambling is all for not. I always seem to fade away in Dramas such as this when Comedy is snuck into every so often. I was able to overlook this as the film went on. It comes at low some times and odd occurrences. Those areas just add up to a big bang which presents a greater meaning than just a cheap laugh. Most of all, as the story went on, I began to see how much it was like Forrest Gump.
This was a huge let down with a disappointing outcome. I can't say that this movie was entirely bad, but it was shameful to see how it turned out. I had very high expectations for this to even except it for what it is. I anticipated - much like many others - The Dark Knight for quite some time; feeling that it'd be the most astonishing film I'd see in years. Boy, do I feel sorry for myself.
The story was slightly unstable and care free. The first half was a serious problem for me to enjoy. I didn't like it all too much. It was too random and had little excitement. Lau was useless to begin with, Coleman Reese was a meaningless threat, Bruce Wayne and the Russian ballet, especially his date, Natasha, added up to being just too much glass I had to shallow [if you know what I mean]. The Dark Knight didn't have much of a plot, story, or purpose. To quote Heath Ledger, "I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. I just do things". This centers on the film's "plot" as well, but just one part of it. This half is The Joker being completely destructive unexpectedly. This other half is Harvey Dent, later known as Two-Face. Harvey Dent's story revolves around yet another quote from the film, "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". That's what The Dark Knight is all about. It's the adjective for Dent, Wayne, and Joker. They all have that going for them.
Heath Ledger: a brilliant actor with no limits in this thrill ride. He displayed one of the greatest and most honorable performances in any film I've seen. I'd say that he was better than the hype declared. I enjoyed every scene he had and I wish he could've been in more. When you watch this, you don't see Heath Ledger at all. You see what Heath was able to bring us. He brought something much more than I could have ever hoped for. He ended his career with no such flaw. I will never forget what I saw. I will never forget him. Believe me when I say this, if it weren't for Heath Ledger, this movie would have no impact on me.
No one should compare Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger in any way by their performances as The Joker. Honestly, they're both great and unique in their own way. Jack was outgoing, fresh, comedic, crazy. Heath was strong, demented, clever, witty. They're both fantastic. Personally, Ledger was more enjoyable to me. He put a smile on my face and he didn't even have use a knife. He gave the performance of the decade, in the movie event of the decade. That doesn't mean he's better than Nicholson. I respect them both as The Joker. I know many find Jack to be the true definition of The Joker. Others would disagree and say Heath was much better in his figure and presentation. It really doesn't matter what the contrast between the two are. Heath and Jack are two different Jokers. Deal with it.
Oh no! This is the point where I pile on the negativity. It seems pointless to evolve this into a huge rant, so I'll just squeeze it all into one paragraph. Christian Bale was far away from his usual acting. He had a lazier way of being Wayne. He added no emotion or drama to it; just another stiff. I'm sure his action figure is more active than he was. But his worst feature was without doubt his deep, scuffed voice in the bat-suit. Everyone can agree that it was annoying and didn't get any better. I wouldn't be surprised he got laryngitis from it. Anyway, Maggie Gyllenhaal was nothing special. She was quite a change from Katie Holmes. More screen time for her and a whole lot of unnecessary smiling. She was just as annoying as Katie was. Aaron Eckhart brought it down a whole notch. He exaggerated every aspect of Harvey Dent from the comics. He brought shame to the character and overacted the entire time he was on screen. He had some decency, but he went just beyond what he should've. All in all, Ledger gave the only acting that went on.
What did Nolan do? I was so pumped to see this since he did such a great job on Batman Begins, and especially his other films as well. Memento, The Prestige: unique, dark thrillers unlike any other. He had the experience to pull off another Batman movie. The direction he went in was off balance. No flow or rhythm was seen anywhere in here. It had too many distractions from the plot. It seemed more like a series of segments, rather than a whole movie, which is some what of a drag to endure. It had it moments and still had a dark theme with loads of action, I'll give it that much. The degenerate of it all is that it was different from the previous film in the franchise. If it was more careful on the plot, acting, and dialog, it would be a true masterpiece. It's just mediocre with entertaining activity, but no real clause.
The visuals however, were very respectable to me. Hardly any CGI was used. Two-Face took up the biggest portion of it. The film didn't need any special effects to change any bit of it's appearance. It was more of a bonus. But if anyone is really big on the visuals in films, then see it in IMAX. It enhances the realism. Make sure to get a good seat or it'll ruin everything. At times, I actually felt like I was apart of it. It almost seemed like I was flying over Gotham when the camera had those eagle-eyed shots of Chicago, Hong Kong, and many other areas. So, the visuals were wonderful and get a round of applause from me.
Overall, I was disappointed with this movie. Heath Ledger was the glue they kept this film from falling apart. So, if anyone plans on seeing this, just savor every second of screen time Ledger has. His final completed role was his masterpiece and was more worth while than the movie itself. Oscar for Heath, anyone?
This film really spoke to me... or: at least it DID anyway. It showed me how someone's choices can affect our lives. It's use of foreshadow was quite a shock. So much was going on in this movie that you'd probably need to take a second glance at it to further understand it. I tend to avoid movies with this sort of plot style, but i made an exception after realizing what this movie was all about. The way it was shown and symbolized was beyond what i could have imagined. Unfortunately, the major flaw of this film - the acting - made me loose interest.
I give this any such credit with the score provided by Michael Andres. His feel on cult , film-noir, mystery, horror, is all captured with a simple thread of notes. it's bone chilling and spine tingling - as an uproot scholar with minimal terms and an ruse for cliches might resort with. On the other hand, his lacking balance of either posture nor fitting heir made small infliction on the 'rounds. Still, to justify it's intent for dramatic them of sci-fi, He accomplished a beautiful score. The redone version of Mad World with vocals by Gary Jules revolutionized new ways of music critic. E for Effort: No A, no F; just exemplary
Walt Disney's most brilliant epic of six symphonic stories imagined up in color for the world to drown in. A magical majestic not to be ignored, for this blend of realism will go on to be remembered for a Sun's eternity.
As plain and simple as i can express it: this is the most exhilarating film i have ever witnessed. from the second it started i was entertained. it had a nice opening scene and after that, i was anticipating ever other scene to come along. Never have i seen a film with such detail. it was nearly-perfect, the music was superb and the visuals were vicious eye-candy. this also carried the always mind-blowing, creative art of foreshadow. however, to tend to miss all the noticeable clues during your first viewing. this is again, a movie you will have to watch a few times. One of the biggest themes of this film was how dark and horrifying the atmosphere is, yet it did spring in some raunchy and risque humor. but what impressed me the most was the character's lifestyle. he needed a serious change in his life if he were to carry on in the world. and he did change his life...but later, he realizes just how much change he had. it may be confusing to interpret what i have written, but it will all make sense when you see the film.
...AND: In my opinion, a movie is only as good as its ending. Most of you may disagree, but to me every film needs a surprising way of climaxing. Cliff-hangers DO NOT fall under this category. Sorry, they just don't. Anyway, the reason as to why FIGHT CLUB is my all-time favorite movie, is because it has EVERYTHING I look for in a movie. "Are you watching closely?". Here's what it has that makes it such an irresistible experience - Narration, Dark Humor, Foreshadow, Cliches, Morals, Remarkable Special Effects, An Original Score, Twists & Turns, Split-personality, Feuds, Relationships, Violence, Risque Occurences, Sensational Directing & Aacting [...and lastly...] The Most Instense & Surprising Ending Ever Shown On Screen!
This was an inspirational film. Tom Hanks brings his best performance here. I'm always so impressed with this ever time I watch it. There's so much movement and energy occurring throughout this film.
[SORRY ABOUT THE DREADFUL WRITING. I ASSURE THAT I'LL EDIT THIS LATER.]
Yes, I did give this a 3.5/5, but for some odd reason, my mind is resisting giving it anything higher. weird, huh? I thought this was going to be a terrible movie with little excitement and no sense of direction. Well, I thought wrong. It was entertaining. Slow at first, but it picks up as the film goes on. I was amazed by the colorful visuals. The animation seemed a little limited - like not quite "MADAGASCAR bad", but not exactly "SHREK" either. The story itself was the most impressive aspect of KUNG FU PANDA. It was about wanting to be more than what you're capable of. It showed how a man [by man i mean Panda] who thinks his dreams are too far from reach for him, is what actually becomes his destiny. He didn't choose to live out his dream... he was chosen. And as that story continued, another went on as well. A lonesome father [again, I'm not talking about any humans here] looks after an abandoned baby and raises it as his own. he teaches him to defend himself and makes him grow to be a power-obsessed psycho. The father is too attached to him to hurt him, even though he knows he must be stopped. This film has two sides to it: Power and Belief. It's all about trying to obtain the ultimate power and to be Unstoppable. But it's somewhat cancelled out by the actually purpose which is: To get want you want, you just have to believe in yourself
Even though i gave this movie only 3 stars and i honestly wish i could convince myself to raise my rating, i will definitely give this movie 2 thumbs up and Recommendation for "Good Movie For 2008".
This is one of the few, rare spectacles of all the Disney productions. How it describes a story was planned so precise and was told in a very unique way. Quite the detailed adventured. The cinematography was fascinating. The environment and coloring and just all of it?s stunning visuals in general, had such creativity carved in it. Not to mention the music. The placement and tone was brilliant.
This is a very unique thriller. this type of movie is rarely seen. The start of the movie appears to be the end, therefore you assume it's all about reviewing the previous events to see how it relates to the opening scene. But it's not that way at all. it's shown in reverse. the movie is playing backwards. it's the kind of movie that doesn't entirely make sense until to reach the end. it's just amazing how this was filmed. there was an extensive use of foreshadow that tends to give you a "Deja Vu" feeling as the film progresses. i dont want to ruin anything, but the ending will surprise you as it surprised me. it can be a difficult movie to follow so you may need to see this a few times before you fully grasp it's message. honestly, this is one of the best revenge movies anyone will ever see.

Tom Hanks does it again! A wonderful performance. One of his best to date. And the fact that this story is about a homophobic lawyer defending a gay AIDS victim against a possible offense towards his lifestyle that got him fired, despite his great work in the field....Wait....where was I? Anyway, this movie's performance and direction is definitely worth seeing. It will amaze you!
much better than the sequels. the Introduction of Jack shows how Dark his character really is w/o all the added humor to cover it up. plenty of scenes dispayed action, but the drama, intensity, and subtle comedy made it an excellent movie to watc
I didn't find much enjoyment out of this the first few times I watched it. about a year later though, watched it again and was just amazed by it. There is a terrific play of words, great use of dialouge, alot more action, skillful manuvers, and many darker elements then the first provided. Hans Zimmer also managed to provide an asortment and of well displayed soundtracks and music. I thought this was a very entertaining movie.
Revenge: the word the mistakenly defines this film. Even though the main intent displays ?revenge?, it?s just a cover-up for something much greater. I know that this is surely a film that shows how far a man is willing to go to prove their better. The level of foreshadow is left unnoticed. Trust me. By the end, you?ll appreciate it. Which brings me to my next topic, the ending itself. If you haven?t seen it, then I won?t spoil it, but it is an ending that will surprise you. The ending is also ironic.
Wow! This was just too much suspense for me. It's a 2 hour roller coaster ride. The visuals were stunning and the acting was incredible. The story was sheer brilliance. I don't want to give anything away, but I a sure you that the ending will definitely surprise you. This is my favorite Christopher Nolan film and one my all-time favorites.
Yeah! one of the funniest movie to date.. the humor is not the least bit random or quirky [like it's dreadful remake]. it has a subtle style but also very enjoyable. Gene Wilder pulls off one hell of a performance with his nervous, phobiatic image. All I need to say is "Springtime Fior Hitler: that's more than enough to encourage you to see this nearly perfected comedy byt funny man, Mel Brooks
I didn't expect much from this anyway. The buzz of it being an instant classic and a rare gem to view was the only enticement for me to see this. I was let down by the buzz. I disagree with every positive reaction Pulp Fiction received. Shortly defined, it's one of the most overrated films to be screened.
Quentin Taranatino's second film is a 3-story collaboration of hitmen. As those they lend their service to the top dog of L.A. - Marcellus Wallace (Rhames) - they encounter a miracle, tragedy, and a robbery at a diner. But that's only one of three stories being told. Vincent Vega (Travolta) is also assigned to help entertain his boss' wife (Thurman), and to top it all off, Butch Coolidge (Willis) is Marcellus' next target from a lost bet made on a rigged fight.
My biggest doubt of Pulp Fiction may be the screenplay and certainly the direction. Let me just lay it out - my problem was Tarantino himself. He has the adult charisma in his films, but lacks a meaning. Honestly, I was waiting so long to see where this movie was going, and it ended nowhere. The era of Tarantino is solely surrounding a gangster's personality; the aggression, flair, ruthlessness. But how it's presented is off scale, which blind sights the public. There's no specific flow, but they may be the way it was intended.
This way of stroy telling hasn'y been done like this before, which makes it unique, even with an original screenplay. The number one flaw that wrecked this film phememonon for me; the dialog.
The dialog is what kept this movie rolling on through. Its the talk that seems real and ordinary for us to hear, typical small talk, but that's not what I want to pay $7 to to be apart of.
Not as impressive as it could've been. the movie lacked many important elements: A solid script & decent acting are the most recognizable. This movie had so much potential and it let it all go to waste. It's not as thrilling or terrifying as it has b...(read more)een portrayed to be. in the end, this is just another mediocre "popcorn" film. i wouldn't say this movie is a complete waste of time. the most intriguing aspect of this film is just the way the killer thinks. he sets people up for death giving them a choice. either they overcome the obstacle they are forced into or die trying.
Edgar Wright's directional debut and what a fine film it is. A horror/comedy has been done before, but not like this. The only problem was the strain of it all. Too much, too little? Too hard to tell.
Shaun, the salesman, is in a mix-up with his life. With a dead relationship with his ex, a killer hate for his step dad, and a daily routine aside the roommate, Shaun is way down on all luck. As if it couldn't get any worse... (I spoke too soon). Oh no! Zombies are multiplying in size and taking over London! What's the plan, then? Get his girl back, make mends with the folks, and sort life out. Oh, and try not to get eaten alive.
There is where my weak spot is. I don't mean the nerve in my body that, if pushed, completely exaggerates my level of enjoyment. Not at all that. It's the area which exasperates my frustration. The place this falls under is the plot. Though the constant gags and giggles are witty as well as original and creative, the way it goes is unusual. There isn't a single moment where the next scene becomes obvious. It's spontaneous, but not random during. Without any anticipation or distinct direction, adding little action or screening, it's easy to loose interest in what's going on. But I digress.

This psychological thriller deserves more appreciation. It has a brilliant script, beautiful scenery, and two exciting performances by two very talented actors. There?s not a bore or dull moment in plain view which gives Sleuth a near perfected work of art.
A young hairdresser named Milo Tindle is invited to a greeting with his lover?s husband, Andrew Wyke. It?s all just fun and games with the ol? prow. A simple conversation over the woman that ties them together ? Marguerite ? soon turns into a rather funny sort of action, but is taken too far when a gun is fired and a man disappears. But it?s only now, that the game truly begins.
It?s difficult to say how much I admire the plot without unveiling any hidden aspects? but I?ll try. A game is all it is, really. Just a game; A ravage struggle between two men which is taken too seriously. The way it precedes is so non- expecting. There?s nothing predictable about it. Just when you think you?ve got everything figured, a new surprise comes a-knockin?. All the twists and turns will make your head spin. You really have no idea what?s going to happen next, but you desperately want to find out. Simply put, it?s a funhouse ith no escape. You become a part of the game.
BOOM! That was the sound of Michael Caine blowing your mind He plays a shady, devious, little twitter whom reinvents the game?s rules. He?s cunning, stealthy, crude, crass, sly. Almost villain-like. He captures the essence of a real maniac. Not in the sort of ?serial killer? manner, but more like that of a trickster.
Laurence Olivier was the master of the show! He brought so much energy and life to his character. In his funhouse of toys and games he actually seemed like a kid. The innocence, sent, smile, joy and freedom felt natural and convincing. He wasn?t like a kid, he was a kid.
All of enchantment and majestic of these two flawless performances made Sleuth a mastering piece of art. All it had was two actors ? TWOACTORS! It worked out more than expected? Let the games begins.

Where Shall I Began? This movie was just filled with scene after scene of dramatic passion. You could just feel the intensityo jump-off the screen. As the film goes on, your perspective of it changes. A simple man starts off with only one thing on his mind: OIL! Later on, he gets "son". Still, the only thing he cares about is oil. Slowly, his insanity elevates and eventually looses all control. While all this is happening, a priestly young lad insists on feeding off of the oil man's fortune to revive his beliefs for everyone to bask in. This is nothing but his greed leading him through. Anyway, the way the characters played it out though-out the film was simply incredible. so much detail and emotion was thrown into this amazing tale. Naturally, the acting was brilliant therefore the directing had it's unique spark as well. The positionng and placement of the enviorment only increased the astonishment of this film. P.T. Anderson pulled-of one hell of a project!
Despite all the boycotting, this film was worth seeing. It was hilarious and made me want to see it again when it was all over. There's a little something for everyone to enjoy here... because it offends everyone. I never thought I'd like Tropic Thunder. Man, I'm sure glad I saw it.
The movie starts with a few unexpecting surprises. You see faux movie trailers that intertwine with the movie itself as it progresses. Those were just psych gags to help you understand how the rest of the movie will be. If you're already offending just from the first 8 minutes, then you will definitely enjoy the rest.
A powerful, political notion in the motion picture industry. The majority of the dialog is sensational leaving morals and metaphors through out. Within a year, a masked-man who's recognized only by the letter 'V' changes a corrupted civilization, by giving it reclamation. V For Vendetta will give you nothing less than a sering thought of astonishment.
I am very impressed with this. Pixar hasn't had the great success in the past couple of years that that i know it could have had. Pixar has so much potential and I really think that this was a great way to revive its dying image. The hype for this was not wasted. I really enjoyed this and I highly recommend this film to anyone. What it offers should please any audience.
