Very atmospheric and creepy, but rather confusing at times and seems like it drags on forever in the middle. The idea of being stalked by a ghost of yourself was interesting.

Analyze That
Not much originality here. The movie goes about as you would expect it to, but I see nothing wrong with that. I got exactly what I was looking for. It made me laugh. It entertained. That's the point of this type of movie. It drives me nuts when people rip these kind of movies for being what they are SUPPOSED to be. Why people want to get all serious about a movie that isn't supposed to be serious is beyond me. I haven't seen Analyze This, so I couldn't tell you if this is better or worse, I just know I enjoyed this one.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007,  R)
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Well acted, but much longer and drawn out than the story calls for. I'm usually complaining about lack of character development. Until this movie, I never knew it was possible for characters to be too overdeveloped. Still Casey Affleck and Sam Rockwell put in outstanding performances as Robert and Charlie Ford respectively. Brad Pitt plays an interesting Jesse James. The rest of the cast is good as well. The only two gripes I have are that the film is just too long for the story it is trying to tell, and a scene in which three men are standing within three or four feet of one another in a room having a shootout and keep missing each other.

This movie is a blast! Equal parts comedy, action/adventure, and musical. Fun music, hilarious slapstick-style comedy and great car chases. Tons of cameos. Just a fun movie. I would recommend it to anyone that just wants to sit back and enjoy themselves.

Cape Fear
A great thriller from director Martin Scorsese, with great performances by all involved, especially De Niro as the menacing stalker/rapist. The tension within the family didn't make much sense, and was never fully explained. Other than that, the movie is very good. Nothing groundbreaking or anything, even formulaic even for the most part, but still a very good thriller.

Seed Of Chucky
Other than some decent dark humor, including Jennifer Tilly being a trooper while being the butt of a lot of mean spirited jokes, this movie for the most part is pure dreck. Jennifer Tilly was decent, but the acting for the most part was horrendous. And quite frankly, the story itself was just not good. Oh well, at least I got a couple laughs out of it.

Click
This is one of those movies where you go in expecting one thing and get something else. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but if you are just looking for the typical Adam Sandler comedy, this may not be for you. It's more a drama with comedy thrown in, kind of in the same vein as It's A Wonderful Life. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, although there were some parts of the movie that were a little too unbelievable, even in the world they had set up.

Con Air (1997,  R)

The Condemned (2007,  R)
The Condemned
A gritty, unapologetically violent action movie with some dry humor, a dose of realism, and a little morality play. Better than the average popcorn action movie, and deserved to do much better in the theater than it did, being a victim of coming out around the same time as the Spider-Man, Pirates and Shrek sequels. If you haven't seen it and are a fan of adrenaline-charged action movies, check it out. You'll have a blast.

Dark Ride (2006,  R)
Dark Ride
This movie was a fun ride. The plot was basic and the movie very reminiscent of a typical 80s slasher flick. Not much originality here, but you get what you came to see for this kind of film. Some creative kills, horror movie cliches a plenty, and a twist ending that you can see coming a mile away, but is still good. The sets inside the horror amsusement ride were well done. The acting quality is passable for this type of movie. But none of the characters are particularly likeable, which makes it even more fun to see them get what they have coming. If you enjoy slasher flicks, check this one out.

Outstanding performances by all involved. Incredibly beautiful scenery as a backdrop to a nightmare. Very disturbing. Every character changes in this morality play. To be over thirty-five years old, this film has aged very well.

Forrest Gump
An absolutely magical movie that I never get tired of seeing. This is the story of a simpleton that goes on to do extraordinary things, and manages, without knowing so, to be a part of every major historical happening in the United States from the 1950s to the 1980s. He only believes in three things - God, his mama, and Jenny, the girl he's been in love with since grade school. As such, he filters everything that happens to him through them. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer. This is simply one of the greatest movies ever made, and will be regarded as a classic for decades to come.

Halloween
I'm not a big fan of all the horror remakes lately, but I enjoyed this updated revamp of the original. It takes the original and adds to the story, trying to explain why Michael Myers is the way he is. Some would say the fact that you don't know anything about him is what makes him so scary in the original. That may be true, but seeing where Michael comes from just gives the movie a totally different tone and vibe. I love both this and the original for different reasons, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't think Rob Zombie has "bastardised" the original Halloween at all, which is what many are claiming. Put the original out of your head and enjoy this for what it is.

Hatchet
If you enjoy 80s B-movie slasher flicks, you'll likely enjoy this. My problem with the movie is that it claims to be "old school American horror". Well, if you consider that to be a basic ripoff of Friday the 13th, you'd be right. It was basically Friday the 13th with Jason Vorhees in the swamp. Even the ending was a blatant ripoff. Victor Crowley's costume was horrible as well. And the overdone, slow-motion gore just slaps you in the face and says "nothing to be scared of, you're just watching a movie." Don't get me wrong, the movie was enjoyable for what it was. Decent story, so-so acting, creative kills, lots of humor. I really enjoyed it. But I would have to disagree with Victor Crowley being the "next icon of horror." It wasn't worth all the hype it got, but was overall a fun little slasher flick.

The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2)
More of the same from the original remake. Just more predictable, not as intense, and has less developed characters. There was some creative stuff in there, but this one can't touch the first remake.
124
The Hitcher (2007,  R)
The Hitcher
I don't know what Hollywood's obsession is lately with remaking horror films. Luckily, this is one of the better remakes (in my opinion). Awesome car scenes and action sequences in this movie, which actually make it more an action movie than a horror flick during most of the movie. There are points in the movie that are a bit much at times, where you just sit thinking "This is just a little too unbelievable," but that is part of the charm of most horror movies. Sean Bean being cast as the hitcher was an excellent choice. Enjoy the flick for what it is, and it will take you on a fun ride!

The Last House on the Left
Very sloppily made with poor editing. With that said, it is probably one of the most disturbing films ever made. It leaves the viewer feeling uncomfortable. Brutal, barbaric, all too real and very difficult to watch.

The Messengers (2007,  PG-13)
The Messengers
Very generic and predictable horror movie. Defies logic at times. Bad acting from most. Penelope Ann Miller sounds like she is reading from note cards. I did like the look of the movie, though, but that doesn't even come close to saving this train-wreck. I've seen worse, much worse in fact, but that's not saying much.
163
Misery (1990,  R)
164
Mona Lisa Smile (2003,  PG-13)
Mona Lisa Smile
Could have been better with someone else in the lead. It just seemed like Julia Roberts just mailed in her performance. There was actually good to great acting from almost everyone else involved. The story was kind of predictable, but if you are interested in the subject matter then you will enjoy the movie.
165
Mortal Thoughts (1991,  R)
166
Mulberry Street (2007,  R)
Mulberry Street
Rat people? They'd have been better off making them zombies, but then I guess people would complain about there being another same old zombie movie. The movie was actually pretty good, was shot well, and was decently acted. I thought the whole premise of an infection and all was really good. The whole rat people thing just seemed kind of hokey though.

Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West)
Not just one of the best Westerns ever made, but one of the greatest films ever made, period. Everything about this film is amazing. Outstanding performances by Henry Fonda, Claudia Cardinale, Charles Bronson and Jason Robards. Beautiful scenery, an amazing score, great story, well built tension. Just an amzing movie. Highly Recommended.
184
One Night With the King (2006,  PG)
One Night With the King
This movie had potential, but suffered from over the top acting, a disjointed plot, a good yet over the top score, poor pacing, and an inability to decide exactly what dialect the movie should be in. The movie was just poorly done all around.
185
Open Season (2006,  PG)
186
The Other Boleyn Girl (2008,  PG-13)
The Other Boleyn Girl
Decent, but could have, and should have been better. Natalie Portman did a wonderful job. Scarlett Johansson was good. Eric Bana has done much better, but he was passable. The biggest problem the movie had, to me, was that it seemed to fly by, only touching on things that should have been expounded on further.

National Lampoon's Pledge This!
By far the worst movie I have EVER seen. I have seen a lot of movies in my day. As such, although I have had the privelage to see some really good movies, I have also seen a lot of dreck. That said, I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen a movie this bad. NEVER. This movie has not one single redeeming quality. I can honestly say that watching this movie may have actually made me dumber. Who the hell thought letting Paris Hilton act was a good idea? And what movie exec in their right mind would give her a leading friggin' role? Some movies are so stupid that they are funny. This is so stupid that it's stupid. Just thinking about the stupidity of this movie makes my brain hurt.

Raging Bull
Not so much a movie about boxing as it is about one man's self destruction and his quest for redemption. The film is raw, intense and pretty depressing. It being shot in black and white just adds to the depressing feel and mood of the movie. Amazing performance by Robert DeNiro and great acting by Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty. Highly recommended

Rest Stop
The story, and the characters, were poorly written. You are never really given any reason to care what happens to anyone. There are plot holes a plenty, as there are major lapses in logic. The acting was decent I guess, for what they had to work with. You kind of get the sense that there is more to the story than meets the eye, but you are never given enough information for you to care by the time it's all said and done. The story showed promise, but just falls flat in execution. Borrows heavily from The Hitcher, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hostel. There's just too much here that made me just roll my eyes at the rediculousness of some of this stuff. This movie could have been great.

Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip
Richard Pryor's best stand-up comedy performance, and the best stand-up comedy performance I've ever seen. Pryor's stories, voices, facial expressions and mannerisms are hilarious. Takes some serious issues and makes us laugh at them, and isn't affraid to make himself the butt of the joke.

Runaway Jury
Other than the fact that I found this movie to be a little too preachy for my tastes, and the fact that the "twist" ending was rather predictable, I thought this was a pretty good legal drama / thriller. Gene Hackman put in an amazing performance, and Rachel Weisz was excellent as well.

I enjoyed it, but there's really nothing here that hasn't been done in the series before. I'm enjoying following the story, but with each passing "twist" at the end of each movie, I care a little less. If they are doing at least two more of these, as I have heard, they really need to give me someone to care about. Someone, that is, that isn't already dead.

This is an action-packed, gut-busting, hilarious good time. Jackie Gleason puts on one of the most hilarious performances of all time. A classic that everyone should see.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Now this was different. Musical meets horror. Wonderfully done, very dark and atmospheric. Amazing performances by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. I'm not a big fan of musicals, but this held my interest.

Taxi Driver (1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro gives an amazing performance as Travis Bickle, an ex-marine who is mentally unstable taxi driver who is an insomniac, is lonely, lacks social skills and hates the world he lives in. That world happens to be the underbelly of New York City in the 1970s, full of pimps, drug pushers, killers and other scum. This is the story of a man that finally just snaps. Includes a great performance also by a very young Jodie Foster as a teenage prostitute. A classic from director Martin Scorsese. Highly recommended.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974,  R)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Endlessly imitated, never duplicated. The concept is simple - five teenagers driving through rural Texas happen upon a deranged, psychotic family - yet it is one of the most frightening movies I have ever seen. By today's standards, there is very little gore. But what makes this film so powerful is the dark atmosphere and the fear of the unknown. Everything is not spelled out to you, so much is left to the imagination. Mounting suspense and paranoia overcome the viewer slowly, letting your imagination run wild. Simply one of the greatest horror movies of all time. And I would say one of the greatest movies of all time, period.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Next Generation (The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
This is pretty much a spoof of the original. So much of the plot left out, so stupid, so poorly acted that its hilarious.

Unforgiven
One of Eastwood's best movies, and probably his best western. Good story, complex characters. There really are no heroes or villains in this movie. You could probably find a way to relate to the thinking of just about every character in this movie. What you have is Eastwood as the protagonist, and antagonist Gene Hackman as the hard-nosed sherriff, who is probably more morally right than Eastwood's "reformed" killer character. Eastwood and Hackman put in amazing performances, with great performances also by Morgan Freeman and Richard Harris.

Wicked Little Things
I enjoyed this. It was suspenseful with great pacing and had a creepy, dark atmosphere throughout. If I had any complaints it would be the over-stupidity of the mother in the movie. Other than that, there are a few horror movie cliches, but you kind of come to expect that in a movie like this. The acting was pretty decent from most, and really good from some.
