I honestly don't get why people rate this movie so highly. It was boring, had a paper thin plot, and the acting was atrocious. No amount of CGI can hide any of that. And believe me, they tried.

Though visually breathtaking (at times) the film lacked heart - I simply didn't care for a single character. Even the combat was lacking. I found the fight scenes in Gladiator and LOTR far more compelling. By the middle of the film I only managed to stay entertained by pointing out the film's flaws.

What really threw it over the line for me (and this may seem trivial) is that despite the overdone CGI, they failed to cover up the scar from an actor's small pox vaccination on his left shoulder. Maybe it was only clear in HD, but I was half asleep and it stood out like a sore thumb to me.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because of the visual effects. Visually it captures the look of the comic, but ultimately that isn't enough for me.

To put it in perspective, earlier I had watched a National Geographic documentary about the resting place of Jesus Christ; it was far more entertaining (And I'm an Athiest!).

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 4.0 Stars
This movie was a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, the acting and cinematography were spectacular. Nearly every scene was amazing either visually or verbally. On the other hand, the movie was too long and the pacing was far to slow. It didn't help matters that we starting watching it around 11pm.

Casey Afflex should definitely get the Oscar for this one - he was amazing.

I really tried to like this movie, but for every stray giggle it gave me, it gave me 3 moments where I wanted to leave the room. This movie got a lot of good hype and has pretty high ratings in the flixster community, so maybe I just didn't get it.

Film noir meets high school. This film is simply amazing. Brilliant writing, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come into his own with a outstanding performance.

At first the dialog kind of threw me because it seemed so out of place for high school students, but once it clicked, it made total sense and blew me away.

I'm ready to watch it again.
