1
Die Hard (1988,  R)
Die Hard
Simply the BEST movie EVER!

Thanks to so many elements, among which the best actor ever, the great Bruce Willis.

This movie inspired so many movies since, like Speed, or Under Siege (and 2), Don't Die Too Hard...
It gave a lot of codes to the genre.
We can see a lot of references to it in so much movies.

A lot of good fights. Especially the one against Karl, the blond guy. The fight with the chains where he's mad cause McClane killed his bro earlier is very good. So many times imitated.

The shootings through the table or in the windows are very good ideas, changing of so many very classical gun fights seen before, making them be funnier. Originality is always good in movies. And as so many movies have been done till yet, it's a luxury now.

Dialogues are very funny sometimes, and well written anyways.
Some characters are very likeable (John McClane of course, but also the nice and funny Sgt Al Powell) and some others very unpleasant (Hans Gruber, Karl, but also the guy flirting with Holly McClane, Richard, who isn't 1 of the terrorist, but clearly a person we should avoid. He's as annoying as this also in Die Harder.) So, this makes a good sauce, some very good interactions between them.

A very good idea also to have chosen this tower as main set.
The sequels are good (even excellent for Die hard with a Vengeance) but under. For example cause missing a set like this. Some kind of closed door movie's set.

The end is a very big climax. It's so good, pleasant, brilliant...

Of course, perfection doesn't exist, but I don't see what could be changed to make this film be better, sincerely. No matter if some seconds aren't excellent, it can't in any way spoil anything, as there are more than 2 amazingly wonderful hours in this movie.

Nominated for 4 Oscars, it's a shame that it didn't win any.
Also that it didn't win any nominations for the main Oscars.

Thanks everybody, neither Richard Gere, nor Don Johnson have had the role of John McClane. I can't imagine even in nightmares the movie with them instead of Bruce Willis.
Otherways, even if I really like Richard Dean Anderson (mainly in McGyver's role), I can't imagine him neither in the role, so...

I have this movie in video tape. A friend who had it in double gave me this that he recorded on TV, in 1993. Although it's far to be the most expansive, it's clearly the best gift ever made to me, or near.
I saw a lot of thousands movies since, some really are masterpieces, but no one has the level of quality, of perfection in every detail, of creativity, inventivity of the 1st Die Hard.

I sadly, don't have anymore video recorder (it's awful, considering the 400 videos I own, of which all my favs, but, it's not that expansive, so, I should buy a new one), so, I bought it a short time ago on DVD, but still didn't watch it. So, not since years, and writing this made me wanna watch it again so hard, so, I must do it now, so, I'm almost over.
;)
Yeah, I know, I was a bit telling my life, and it doesn't interess anyone, but, anyways...

If you haven't seen it, it's a wrong that you should quickly repair.
If you haven't like it, it's even a crime that you should quickly confess.

The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2) (2007,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2)
Watcha!

I waited with a great impatience to see it, cause I really loved the 1st one.
So, in the same time, I was afraid to be disappointed, even if I knew it couldn't be totally the case.
So, bought it a few weeks ago, and finally watched it this early morning, and... waw.
So shoking and gore by moment, just what I expected, just like the 1st movie; apart that there's more death, and that's only for our pleasure.
Could've been longer, cause nowadays, 85 minutes is really short for a movie.
I hope they'll find a great idea of script for a way longer sequel, but I bet a sequel will not be longer, and as this 1 is a bit worse than the 1st 1, I'm afraid again for the next 1.

As often in that kind of movies (more specially for the sequels of horror), the cast is totally unknown (or almost), and there are some totally stupid and unlogic things, like the fact they so often break the group. Apart for the story to be more freaking, it has any logic explanation.
For example, when 4 of them are already dead, why the hell a guy leave the 4 others to go alone???
O_O
Yeah, he's afraid of going into the mines, and that's understandable, but there isn't anyways for a man go by himself in those conditions.
Otherways, it's totally mindless that they leave so easily their weapons behind them. For example, why the fuck do they leave the room of the mine where they killed Papa Hades, leting their M16 with the baïonette, and also the spear he used, and the axe, the mass... behind them, when they still are into the dark mines, they are hurted, desperate, afraid and they don't know how many monsters are still there???
O_O
Do someone have a good explanation about it?

Finally, the dialogues supposed to be funny aren't several times.
Very pee-poo humor, so many times heard and not anymore funny... or it could be if it was better written.

The monsters are so ugly, and disgusting that only this is a bit scary.

Anyways, it stays a good horror that I'll watch again and again with pleasure.

26
The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007,  PG)
The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
Touching story, with a cute creature, during the war.

A young boy find an egg (making me think a bit to Eragon's egg) and bring it back home.
The egg hatches. The boy tames and raises the "water horse", and makes it be his only friend. He tries to hide it, but don't succeed a long time.
In brief, this creature grow up, is freed in a loch, and becomes the so famous monster of the Loch Ness.

A nice interpratation of this legend, myth.

33
Hellboy (2004,  PG-13)
Hellboy
Very good!
Ron Perlman is an excellent actor, and Selma Blair is hot.
Raspoutine, the nazis, creatures from Hell, strange creatures fighting for Good, weird mix, but well shaked, it made a very good moment of watching.
34
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006,  PG-13)
X-Men: The Last Stand
Fuck!
This series is better and better.
Full of surprises!
35
Mission: Impossible III (2006,  PG-13)
Mission: Impossible III
Veeeery good sequel!
I love the top of the buildings sequence.
Also the kidnapping of the bad guy, In the Vatican.
36
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long) (2000,  PG-13)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long)
Some of the almost flying scenes r just crazy!
0_0
When they run on the walls of buildings, and then jump on roofs. Or when the seem to fly on the top of the bamboos.
Wow!
Waw!
+, it has been good to discover the nice & cool young Zhang Ziyi.
37
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu) (2004,  PG-13)
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu)
Beautiful!
38
Daai si gin (Breaking News) (2006,  Unrated)
Daai si gin (Breaking News)
A good surprise is this movie!
39
Hostage (2005,  R)
Hostage
A great, excellent thriller with the best of the best, Bruce Willis.
Ben Foster is also very good, as the killer.
40
Bats (1999,  R)
41
Yamakasi - Les samouraïs des temps modernes (2001,  Unrated)
Yamakasi - Les samouraïs des temps modernes
A greaaaat movie!
Those creazy frenchies (4 blacks, 2 asians and 1 white) climb to buildings without any security. They did it in life during years, before they met Kuc Besson who wrote them a movie.

It's amazingly crazy when you see some of the jumps they make, from roof tops to others.
And the script is good too, not only a thin pretext to see their acrobatics.

There aren't a lot of things we could do to ameliorate this film I think.

The music's great too, full of good rap songs.
42
Yamakasi 2: Les Fils du vent (2005,  G)
Yamakasi 2: Les Fils du vent
A very good sequel, where our heroes left France for new adventures in Thaïland.
Some amazing jumps, acrobatics, fights also, on the bamboos' scaffold.
But I think the 1st one was just a bit better.
Anyways, very good movie.
43
Million Dollar Baby (2004,  PG-13)
Million Dollar Baby
1 of the best movies of Clint Eastwood, who deserved its oscars... like a lot of others Eastwwod movies deserved some.
A very moving story!
44
Blood Work (2002,  R)
45
The Descent (2006,  R)
The Descent
A bit under what expected
But a group of girls; coool!
:)
46
The Cave (2005,  PG-13)
47
Dawn of the Dead (1979,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
The best of the original trilogy for me
48
Day of the Dead (1985,  Unrated)
Day of the Dead
Worst of all Romero's zombies flicks
49
Land of the Dead (2005,  R)
Land of the Dead
Not far of a masterpiece also.
Sadly, cast pbs!
Asia Argento save it.
50
Diary of the Dead (2007,  R)
Diary of the Dead
Ouch!

Really under Land and Dawn (both versions) of the Dead, for me.
But anyways a bit better than Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead.

A good thing is that I like movies made with a FPS mode of shooting, and that's cool that they start to be common.
Cloverfield, Doom (for the long amazing sequence shot like the games of the series), The Blair Witch Project, who's often named as a pioneer, a precursor of this style.
But there have been some others before; I thought to 1-2 another day, but I forgot them now.
Too bad...!

Contrary to Land of the Dead, - but as for the previous ones -, a entire cast of unknown actors and actresses.
Anyways, that doesn't impede some movies to be great, as all stars were totally unknown people when they began, logically. Almost all in fact, cause not all the childs of stars.
But in this case, if they aren't bad actors, they aren't excellent neither I think.
There are anyways some stars, as I discovered watching the bonuses.
Wes Craven, Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo Del Toro and Simon Pegg, who all voiced newsreaders.
A nice idea!

Otherways, the script isn't bad at all, just not as well as the ones I said above.
But there are anyways some very good scenes.
Interesting also to see some events on the security cams.

To conclude, I'm anyways, as usula with Romero, very excited, impatient to see Survival of the Dead, his 6th zombies' film in the series.
51
Dawn of the Dead (2004,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
Just, great!
Ving Rhames, excellent,as usual.
This version is really, but really different of the original 1. It's not really a remake of the George Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
The common points r mainly:
- Some people who didn't know each other before the zombie's pb meet in this desperate situation, and find together a refuge.
- The mall
- The survivors finally escape from the mall.
- The black cop as hero.

Almost everything else is different between these movies.

I own and love both movies, but prefer a bit this 1, even if there r also things making me prefer the old 1.
52
House of Wax (2005,  R)
House of Wax
Very good horror, although the presence of Crapy Hilton & Chad Dumb Murray.
53
Bandidas (2007,  PG-13)
Bandidas
A great western, full of action, humor, and sex-appeal of these 2 pretty actresses, Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz.
I think it's a shame that its average rating here is only 3/5. Come on people!
54
Night at the Museum (2006,  PG)
Night at the Museum
1 of the best comedies I ever saw.
55
Taxi (1998,  Unrated)
Taxi
A greaaaaaaat surprise was this movie.
Watched it maybe 5-6 or even 7 times.
The sequels are great too (apart the average 4th one), but the 1st is definitely the best 1.

Some amazing stunts with cars or scooters and motobikes.
Some great martial arts fights.
Some beautiful chases, full of impressive crashes.
And the dialogues are soooooo funny, soooo well written, by the excellent living legend Luc Besson (The 5th Element, The Messenger, Danny the Dog, Bandidas, Yamakasi are some of the movies he wrote, and also directed for the 2 firsts).

Easily a masterpiece in the action's comedies, the buddy movies.
56
Meet The Fockers (2004,  PG-13)
Meet The Fockers
The sequel is way better
57
Jeepers Creepers (2001,  R)
Jeepers Creepers
Disappointing!
Not freaking!
More boring!
58
Never Say Never Again (1983,  PG)
Never Say Never Again
A very good unofficial Bond movie.
Almost as good as the best official ones.

Some kind of remake of Thunderball. Some kind and not really a remake, cause it's very very different, and contains references, winks, to other Bond movies.

Cool to see Sean Connery playing once again the character who made him become the huge star he is, years after his last official Bond movie.
59
GoldenEye (1995,  PG-13)
GoldenEye
A greaaat movie!
Probably the best Bond till now.
I mean the best movie, cause the best actor is the 1st and unique, Sean Connery.
The beginning, in the dam is excellent. I love when he's running on the great wall of it.
And when he escapes, jumping of a cliff riding a motorbike, go into the empty-falling plane and raises it just before crashing.
This scene is enormous!
Famke "Xenia Onatop" Janssen was a good choice to play the bad girl.
60
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997,  PG-13)
Tomorrow Never Dies
Very sad I am when I see the average rating here is only 3.
It's 1 of the best Bond, even if I'll not put it in my top 5.

This movie use a lot of the elements making a Bond being a Bond and not an action movie like so many others.
On that point it's way more faithful to the Fleming's universe than Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, and so, it's a shame that they have better ratings on Flix.
Also cause Tomorrow Never Dies had an actor who knows how to act and looking like Bond, not like a model for underwears, if you know who I mean.

Good characters, awful villains, a lot of great action (for example the chase on motorbike in the chinese city, and the jump above the helicopter), very funny dialogues, beautiful landscapes and sets, good music, great technologies, good ending full of danger and desperate situations... all we want in a 007 movie, and a lot of the things missing in the 2 last movies.
Without forgetting the gadgets. Talking of these, the car is definitely the best (with the furtive invisible car of Die Another Day). The fact it's radiocommanded is an excellent idea.

Q is funny, as usual, when he's desperate about James' attitude.
We really miss this great character played by an excellent actor, sadly deceased 10 years ago, already...
:(
It was his last but 1 Bond's movie.
RIP Desmond!
61
Die Another Day (2002,  PG-13)
Die Another Day
1 of the best 007's movies, easily.
Even 1 of the best movies ever.
Pierce is pretty good.
Rosamund Pike is beautiful.
Fun to see Madonna as the fencing teacher.
Some great scenes, like the chase in hovercrafts on the way full of mines, or the chase in cars on the frozen lake and into the ice palace.
Funny was the arrival of Bond in wet pyjama in the hotel.

There r some references to another Bond movie (Diamonds are forever) in this one, like the diamonds, the hovercraft, the laser's weapon on the satellite, and the bad guy changing face and using another name.
62
Ocean's Eleven (2001,  PG-13)
Ocean's Eleven
12 is the best
13th the worst
Anyway, I'm impatient for the 14th, but sadly, without Bernie Mac
RIP
63
Resident Evil (2002,  R)
Resident Evil
Good adaptation of the games (the greatest fan of the universe tell u that. I have 12 games and 8 books, and the DVDs), even if I expected more.
I hope they will use more creatures for the next ones.
64
Resident Evil - Apocalypse (2004,  R)
Resident Evil - Apocalypse
Good to have introduced Nemesis
65
Resident Evil: Extinction (2007,  R)
Resident Evil: Extinction
Best of the trilogy!
Some great scenes like the crows in the desert and the battle against clones.
I own the 12 Resident Evil games, and read 4 of the 9 books written til now, and so, I really regrett that they said they'll not make a new movie; even if they'll probably change their mind 1 day, it could be in a lot of years, and it's sad, when so many kind of creatures of the games hasn't been used in the 1st trilogy.
66
Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration) (2008,  Unrated)
Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration)
Very good, but I've been a bit disappointed.

I like the 3 movies, love the games, like some novels of RE that I read...
So, as a great fan of the Resident Evil's franchise, maybe I expected too much of this animation, and so, could only be disappointed...

The kinematics in the games are so beautiful sometimes that I expected an animation of Resident Evil since years, and here it is.
Good!
Specially about the graphics, who are very well done; but sadly the style is a bit different of the games' kinematics I think.
But anyways, the problem of this film, for me, was more the script.
It's not bad, not at all, but not enough worked, thinked, in my opinion.

Anyways, I don't regret to have bought it, cause it's a good entertainement.
So, I still hope a sequel to it; like one to the non-animation movies.
67
District B13 (Banlieue 13) (2006,  R)

Friday the 13th, Part V - A New Beginning
Bought, but not seen already.
Wanna buy all the others I don't already own.
72
Friday the 13th, Part VI - Jason Lives (1986,  R)
Friday the 13th, Part VI - Jason Lives
I still didn't see all of the Friday the 13th (although I am Jason Voorhees; but we don't watch what we live; do we? ;) ), but almost all, and this one was the worst; uncounting Freddy vs Jason who disappointed me a lot; contrary to the excellent Aliens vs Predator. But AvP 2 is really less good.

It's a pretty good film anyways, cause of the immortal serial killer we love, and so many ingredients of the series, but they anyways fall a bit asleep on their laurels writing this script.

I've been disappointed by the fact they changed Crystal Lake to Forest Green, but it's clearly understandable as it's to try to clean the name of the city of its awful story, reputation.
And they anyways very often call it Crystal lake all along the movie.

But we get what we want, a lot of deaths (18 on this one in only 90 minutes, wow) by so many different ways, so, a lot of suspense, and shot in beautiful places in forests, so, it's clearly not a movie to miss; at least if, like me, you like to see an entire series, although not all movies can be great.
Otherways, if you aren't a great fan of Jason, there are dozens of better horror movies than this one.
73
Friday the 13th Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan (1989,  R)
74
Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday (1993,  R)

New kind of dinosaurs, and a suspenseful scene with the 2 T-Rex attacking the caravan, cause they can't understand that the heroes r curing the baby T-Rex, and not the opposite.
101
Jurassic Park III (2001,  PG-13)
Jurassic Park III
Good to have introduced Pterodactyles.

108
Ong-Bak (Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior) (2005,  R)
Ong-Bak (Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior)
A greaaaat movie, introducing to the public a martial art known only by a few people out of Thaïland, I nammed the Muay Thaï.
It's very very impressive!
Very original and different, theses fights using more knees and elbows than fists and feet.
Some amazing stunts, made without any rope or special effect r in this crazy movie.

I'd like to see the sequel, but as it'll never come to theatres here, I'll have to wait the DVD.
109
The Protector (Tom yum goong) (Warrior King) (2005,  R)
The Protector (Tom yum goong) (Warrior King)
A great martial arts movie.
It's rare to see a thaï movie; when u see this 1, or the previous with Tony Jaa, directed by Prachya Pinkaew (Ong-Bak: The Thaï Warrior), u regret that it's so rare.
The art here is called Muay Thaï. It changes of the kung-fu, and so, is refreshing. It's also fucking impressive!

LMFAO

Best of the series!
And the beautiful January Jones as Alyson Hannigan's sis was a great choice. I love that she finally chose Stifler.

119
Alpha Dog (2007,  R)
Alpha Dog
Could've been really better.
The good point was to see mr Timberlake in a movie.
The bad points r:
The story; not gripping.
The fact that Bruce "the best" Willis has a too small role in it.
120
16 Blocks (2006,  PG-13)
16 Blocks
1 of the disappointing Bruce Willis, my hero, the best of the best. But it's anywy way better than The Kid, for example. And I didn't see all his movies, even if I really need to.
Mos Def voice is awful!
Poor guy!

158
L'Enquête Corse (2004,  Unrated)
L'Enquête Corse
1 of the best comedies ever of the great Jean Reno, where he teams with the excellent Christian Clavier, with who he made so many comedies, like 1 of the best ever, Just Visiting.

Sometimes in this movie, you can't stop laughing, and that's useful, in our awful and sad world.
159

Gacy (2003,  R)
161
Police Story II (1988,  PG-13)
162
Legionnaire (1998,  R)
Legionnaire
1 of the best Van Damme's movies I saw I think.

Another (maybe THE best) would be The Quest.
I also love Universal Soldiers and Street Fighter, liked Double Team, Timecop and several others in fact.

It's stupid that it came only in video. It deserved to be seen on the big screen.

It's also always strange, fun, to see we saw some actors way before we thought we discovered them.
In this case, I'm saying this about Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, that I really discovered with his Mr. Eko's role in Lost, when I in fact saw him before in this film, Legionnaire, and in:
Congo
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
The Mummy Returns
The Bourne Identity
& Unstoppable
163
Sheitan (Satan) (2006,  Unrated)
164

175
The Fifth Element (1997,  PG-13)
The Fifth Element
An excellent sci-fi, by 1 of my masters, Luc Besson.
With the best ever, Bruce Willis!

1 of the best sci-fi movies I ever saw, with, of course, the Star Wars sexalogy or War of the Worlds, between else.

There are so many wonderfuly funny dialogues and situations (most of them in the 2d part of the movie) that you can't watch it without laughing; apart maybe if you lost your instructions for use of the laughter, or are the most boring people who ever lived.

Effects, images are beautiful (even if 1997 is the prehistory for special effects, and so, that the film would be very different if made nowadays), lighting your face, giving you energy, peps...

The sets, costumes, musics, and of course, the amazingly talented casting, and the designs of an whole future world, full of inventivity, original things, objects, full of great details, make this movie be a wonderfully beautiful entertainement; great hours to pass.
And it never gets old, if you are honest, you'll admitt it, understand it.

Leeloo and Korben are one of the loveliest couples of cinema's history, making us, the bachelors, cry of emotion 1 second.
The fact they are marvelously played by Bruce and Milla increase this feeling of course.

All the roles (till the 3rd ones) are wonderfully written, have funny or at least interesting quotes, all this written by 1 of my masters, Luc Besson, who also directed it.
For the rare ones who don't really see who he is, just check his work (as director, scriptwriter, producer, and almost all the jobs in the movie industry) here and/or on Imdb.com.
Apart all this, he also created the giant of cinema's industry, Europa.
Just a few examples:
He wrote and produced Danny the Dog, Bandidas, Revolver, Taken, The Transporter (1, 2 & 3), Taxi (1, 2, 3 &4; if you saw its remake, New York Taxi, you better watch Taxi 1 & 2; those are great action comedies), Kiss of the Dragon, District 13 (and its sequel, Ultimatum) Crimson Rivers (1 and 2), The Dancer...
He wrote and directed and produced The Big Blue, Nikita, Léon (The Professional), Arthur and the Invisibles (2 sequels soon), and Joan of Arc and The Fifth Element, staring his wife at this time, Milla Jovovich.
He also coproduced Ong-Bak (The Thai Warrior), Tom Yum Goong (The Protector), The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (1st director's job of Tommy Lee Jones), High Tension, Frontier(s) Home [the ecologist movie who's been shown in 150 countries on big screens (for example under the Eiffel tower, in Central Park, in the Red Place of Moscow, in Picadilly Circus...), and came the same day on DVD and theatres, last june]...

It was a bit long to read my comment???
Noooo..

Highlander - Endgame (2000,  R)
Highlander - Endgame
Just... disappointing sequel.
Stupid to have make Connor McLeod die killed by Duncan, from the crapy Highlander TV series.
I can't understand that they made another sequel, in 2008. They better had killed this series years ago.

Bandits (2001,  PG-13)
Bandits
A good surprise!
(Even if a good film starring my hero never is a surprise in fact).

I dislike Billy Bob, but he anyways didn't annoy me at all in this movie.
I maybe even have been surprised by him.
I anyways can't understand how Angelina Jolie can have been married 3 years with him.
Neither I understand how she can have loved some others of her ex.
Brad is far away to be perfect (as every human is), but anyways, it's like she passed from toads to the prince.
Lmfao
XD

Otherways, the very talented and pretty Cate Blanchett (and the beautiful January Jones too) make the feminine cast be a bit under the masculine one, although the so powerful in all the ways BW.

The story is anyway hard to follow, catch, by moments.
So, I saw it alone in theatre, but when I bought it on DVD and showed it to my mother, she asked me explainations several times, although sh'e pretty intelligent.
But as people often complain about the movies missing a complex scripts, they should be happy with this one.
I love those complex movies (like the Matrix series for example), but I love as much some films where the script is a pretext to link the fights.
No matter, during the time I'm entertained!

The Kid
Probably the worst Bruce's movies I saw.
But cause there's Bruce, I can't put a worst rating.
