Suicide Club (2002, Unrated)
I will not rate this one as a five star movie because of the strange plot it has. The end is really strange and confusing. I didn't understand it. However the movie is preatty good. The concept of a suicide club is interesting for such kind of movie and the gore is also very good. The only things that spoils it is really the twisting ending. |

The Eye (Gin gwai) (2002, R)
Good horror movie. Again the japanese have given prooves that they really know how to make horror movies with a low budget. The cast has also a great performance. Although the visual effects were not realistic enough to be scary by their own, when shown in the right moments they do really do the work. |
|

The Eye 2 (Gin gwai 2) (2004, R)
In my opinion this movie is by far better than the first one. Although the storyline has nothing to do with the original, it is more watchable. It has a better plot, better audio score, a better cast and more scary moments. But the ultimate difference between this one and The Eye is that it has more drama. |

Gabal (The Wig) (Scary Hair) (2005, Unrated)
This movie is classified as a horror movie but it only causes you to jump in your seat a few times. At first sight, a cursed wig sounds ridicullous, especially when you see it climbing stairs (lol). However, the story behind the wig makes sense and therefore the movie is not so silly as it could had been. |

Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) (2003, R)
A great film, with a brilliant plot. The end is amazing, the only true moment that makes sense. Although it may be difficult to understand what is reality and delusion, past and present it's the end that makes everything to connect. To really enjoy the movie in its plenitude you should see it more than once. |

Infection (2007, Unrated)
Not exactly a horror movie that keeps you awake at night. It may be from the same creators of The Ring, Grudge or Dark Water but it isn't for sure a scary movie. More liked to be a funny, strange and dark one. I gave some good laughs watching it. However, what make it a good movie is the series of twists in the end. They happen one after the other, making it a little hard to follow. |

Arang (2006, Unrated)
Just another asian horror movie. A young ghost girl with long black hair seeking for revenge. The story itself is interesting but its development isn't done in the best way. |
|

Cello (Chello hongmijoo ilga salinsagan) (2005, Unrated)
Another good asian horror movie. It's not a good movie because it was great special efffects or awsome creepy moments, wich it does't have, it is a good movie because it was a good story and two very unexpected and interesting twists. |

No words can discribe how good and amazing this movie is. It prooved that can be great movies with a small budget, all what is needed is talent. And in this movie there's plenty of tallent. Great cast and excellent story. Made me cry and that's rare. ATENTION: THE MOVIE IS NOT (ONLY) ABOUT BOXING!!! |

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007, PG-13)
I finally got the chance to see this one that I've had longed for so long. However, I must confess mysylf very disapointed with this last chapter of Pirates of the Caribbean thriology. In my viewer opinion, I thought this one was the worst of the three. The movie is too long and the story drags for too long as well. The first really interisting scene only happens when the movie is running already for 18 minutes! And still, until the final battle scene, the plot is repititive and not very interestig. |

The Break-Up (2006, PG-13)
This is a decent romantic comedy. Not one of those with which you can't stop laughing but still entertaining enough. Vince Vaugh and Jennifer Aniston made convincing performances in their roles. However, this could have been a better movie if it had a better ending, I get disapointed because I was expecting them to end up together. |

Flushed Away (2006, PG)
I loved this movie. I can't understand why some people don't like this. It's funny and entertaining, the story is a big adventure and the animation is perfect. Even the music is cool and the cast, well the cast is only composed by top actors such as Hugh Jackman, Kate Winlet and Billy Nighy. But the coolest thing about this one is... the singing slugs --- just perfect. |
|
| 96 |
Cruel Intentions (1999, R)
Good movie with great performances from Ryan Phillippe, Selma Blair and most of all Sarah Michelle Gellar. Her role was amazing and she played it very well. I didn't like so much of Reese Witherspoon performance because it is the only kind of characters that she can play. But she was also ok, within her limited skills, of course. |
|
| 97 |
Pulse (2006, PG-13)
I was expectiong more from this one. I can't compare it to the original because I haven't seen Kairo yet but the concept is good and should have been better executed. The whole story behind is cool and original but the story develops so slowly and predictable that I almost fall asleep. The cast isn't bad and the acting was good but the movie lacks on excitment and suspense. |
|
| 98 |
White Noise 2: The Light (2007, PG-13)
Not a good as the first one. The story concept is alot diferent. The first one was more "realistic". However this one manages to be more scary. That ghosts who appear from nowhere anytime are pretty creepy. And I didn't like of its ending. |
|
| 99 |
Cube 2 - Hypercube (2003, R)I didn't saw the first so I felt a little lost in the beginning of this one because I wasn't aware of the movie's concept. |

Gosuto shisutemu (Ghost System) (2002, Unrated)
This one turned out to be a very disapointing movie. The concept of a computer that brings ghost from the other life to the world of the living people isn't bad at all and is original. At least it's different from what the other japanese horror movies have to offer us. But the problem is that having a good idea isn't enough to make a good horror movie. The movie does not have a good plot, the effects are poor, even a low budget film such this one could have done better, the characters and their background stories aren't explored and neither the process behind the ghost system. |
|
| 101 |
Sorum (Goosebumps) (2001, R)
Honestly, I don't know quite well what I can say about this one. I don't really can understand in what genre this movie fits. But oe thing is for sure... it is NOT an horror movie. At best, it's a drama with some lines of mystery. The plot is a little confusing and the end tries to put together all the loose ends, but not very well I'm afraid. |
|
| 102 |
The Crow (1994, R)
A very dark movie but nok exactly a horror movie. The story is about the typical anti-hero who seeks for revenge of his murderer girlfriend. Despite being done in the early 90's it is still very 80's, with its gothik style. |
|
| 103 |
A Walk to Remember (2002, PG)
Another good Nicholas Sparks' novel adaptation to the big screen but not as good as "messenge in a bottle" or "the notebook". |
|
| 104 |
The Da Vinci Code (2006, PG-13)
I must be one of the few "aliens" in the world that haven't read this Dan Brown best seller novel but that's problably one of the reasons why I enjoy watching the movie. After having heard some less positive reviews and opinions abot the movie, I've realized that I made the right choice, since it's allways better to see a not so brilliant movie first and enjoying it still and only afterwards to read an excellent book. To do the opposite allways ends up to be a disapointment. |
|
| 105 |
O (2001, R) |
|
| 106 |
Fear (1996, R)
I liked this movie more than I was expecting. The story about a romance that becames an obssession isn't new or original but it's allways good to watch, especially if it is as good, thrilling and exciting like this one is. |
|
| 107 |
Save the Last Dance (2001, PG-13)
I liked this movie very much because it isn't just another teen movie. The story is good, very up-to-date and treats the racism issue on a different prespective from what we are used to see it. |
|
| 108 |
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005, PG-13)
Again, a good Harry Potter movie. I'm not really a fan(atic) of Harry Potter's movies but I found them very amusing and entertaining to say the least. I'm sure than the fans think of this one and of all the other HP movies to be fantastic and authentic masterpices but still I liked the third movie to be better than his one. |
|
| 109 |
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004, PG) |
|
| 110 |
Zhaibian (The Heirloom) (2004, R)
This movie manage to be ok. It's not a great horror flick because it lacks of more scary scenes. The movie has some creepy moments but not creepy enough to the point of becoming scary. The big four floors house sure does give me the creeps and somehow it isn't understandable how someone would move in to such a place (nomather how desperate they were for somewhere to live) without make some restauration first! And the is one of the low points of the movie. |
|
| 111 |
Mon seung (Diary) (2006, Unrated)
This one has a good argument but I think the main character isn't the only schizophrenic person on the movie. The director problably was not himself when he put this one together. It's almost impossible to separate what is real and what is delusion or what is past and what is present. Apart from this "minor detail", the story is interesting enough to make the movie watchable and the twisty ending works just fine. |
|
| 112 |
Vital (2005, R)
When I think I've seen all kind of crapy movies, a new even crapier comes along to prove me wrong. Really, 1h25 min (credits included) of nonsense rubish. What I thought to be a deep and intense drama turns out to be a pice of bad directting and writting. The movie's atmosphere is dark and heavy (what should be a good thing) but since the plot is almost inexisting it looses the disered effect. Plus, the contant dreaming/fantasy/delusion doesn't help to caught the audience attention or interest. |
|
| 113 |
Sisily 2km (2004, Unrated)
This one I didn't expect to be su amusing and entertaining. It's not the type of movie you see everyday. It's not a really a horror movie, but it isn't a comedy like Scary Movie either. This is a type of movie that you can't find Hollywood industry. It's rather unic. And it isn't a crappy movie. It has some cool effects, hilarious moments, a good performance by Chang Jung Lim (who also plays in Sex is Zero) and a supringly good story, where not everything is like it seams: the farmers looked like where the good guys fast become the bad guys and the gangsters who were supposed to be the bad guys are in fact the kind ones. And to join the party there is the creepy ghost girl that turns out to be sweet and kind. |
|
| 114 |
The Number 23 (2007, R)
The movie is good but starts with a very slow pace so you might loose the interest if you don't try to stay focused and follow the story. However, as the story unfolds, it starts to get you into trying figuring out the mystery of the 23 number. Which, by the way, I didn't figured out. I know it has something to do with Walter's father but I don't understand why. Oh, well... I guess I will have to watch the movie again, someday. |
|
| 115 |
She's the Man (2006, PG-13)
Another teen movie and that says it almost all. The theme is not new: a girl who pretends to be a guy to gain acess to the guys world and things get complicated when love arise. |
|
| 116 |
Acacia (2004, R) |
|
| 117 |
APT. (9:56) (2006, Unrated)
Although interesting in the beginning, it gradually gets more confusing and hard to put together all the pieces of information. I've got the general idea of the movie's plot but there are some details that I didn't fully understand. |
|
| 118 |
Dark Tales of Japan (2005, Unrated)
This compilation of dark tales and urban myths of Japan are good... for laughing. Most of them are just stupid and because they are short movies it is impossible to understand what lies within the stories. And the visual effects are so poor that a good laugh is the only good thing that cames from this. I found the first "dark tale" - spiderwoman - just hilarious. The coolest of them all was the last story - presentiment. It almost looked like a death from "Final Destination". |
|
| 119 |
Death Note (Desu nôto) (2006, Unrated)
I've never read the manga or see the anime series but I liked the movie and it's concept. The mind games are very well plot, both by Light and L. But the most weird thing about the movie is how the main character is actually the bad guy. Sure he starts as the good guy who seeks justice but soon the Death Note turns him into a cruel being, capable of killing innocent people and even his girlfriend just to win the game of minds against L. |
|
| 120 |
Saekjeuk shigong (Sex Is Zero) (2002, Unrated)
This is like the a South Korean version of the teen movie American Pie, but even more discusting. It sure has some genuine hilarious moments that are conterbalanced byt a serious dramatic turn in the last minutes, when an abortion turns bad. |
|
| 121 |
Kaidan shin mimibukuro: Gekijô-ban - Yűrei manshon (The Haunted Apartments) (2005, Unrated)
This horror movie may not have any genuine scary moments, apart from some creepy scenes and some good visual effects but, even so it manages to be a good story and a very etertaining movie. Instead of being a strange and bizarre movie as most of the asian horror movies outthere in the market, this one is not confusing or hard to follow. It's quite the opposite. The mistery behind the ghost is very easy to forsee - is quite obvious that the girl had died in the apartment by her father's hands - but that finale I have to confess that really surprised me. That little twist in the end is simple and it works fine, which contributes to the sucess of the movie. |
|
| 122 |
Sei mong se jun (Ab-normal Beauty) (2004, R)
The movie could have been so much better if the pices of the plot were put together in a better way. |
|
| 123 |
Haneul Jeongwon (Garden of Heaven) (2003, Unrated)
This is a very slow romantic/drama movie. The hole movie goes around a very strange couple (he is a doctor and she is a terminal cancer patiente). It could be a better movie if it weren't so slow paced and sad to the point of going to one death to the next one (the little boy's death is really heartbreaking). |
|
| 124 |
Miami Vice (2006, R) |
|
| 125 |
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005, PG-13)
I finally got the chance to see this one after everything I've heard about it. |
|
| 126 |
Diecovery (2003, Unrated)
Please, if you are a asian horror movie fan DO NOT SEE this one. I understand that the Vietnamese movie industry (especially the horror genre) is still very "primitive" (and I'm being generous) and the quality is not the best one can get when the budget is small but still... With a bit more of effort this one could have become a better film. |
|
| 127 |
Three...Extremes (Saam gaang yi) (2005, R)
All three short films are quite good. The stories are not connected but they share a common thing: they all talk about human cruelty. |

Shibuya kaidan 2 (The Locker 2) (2004, Unrated) |
|
| 138 |
Redeu-ai (Redeye) (2005, Unrated)
A decent south korean horror movie. The special effects aren't all that bad and the dark and creepy environment is by far the best thing the movie has to offer. I ghost train isn't exactly an original idea but still works quite good. |
|
| 139 |
Sad Movie (2005, Unrated) |
|
| 140 |
High School Musical (2006, Unrated)
I'm not a fan of musicals and therefore I could never rate this one as a five stars movie. Despite that, this is actually quite good. Of course it can't be compared to a Chigaco, Moulin Rouge or a Phantom of the Opera but still it manages to be an ok musical. The musics are good and the coreographys work quite right. |
|
| 141 |
The Simpsons Movie (2007, PG-13)
You have to love the craziest and disfunctional family in the world. A great movie that doesn't fall behind from the tv series. The refreshed 2D style is awsome and everything that is good on the tv is even better on the big screen. |
|
| 142 |
Speed (1994, R) |
|
| 143 |
Ratatouille (2007, G)
Another movie from Pixar, another wonder of animation movies. The movie is funny and entertaining and surely has an original plotline. And again Pixar has outdone itself. The animation is just perfect. You almost can "feel" the magic of Paris with its bright lights. Besides that, you have Remy, the amazing "Little Chef" that is the cutiest little rat I've ever seen ;) |
|

Gomez & Tavarčs (Payoff) (2003, Unrated) |
|
| 145 |
Shrek the Halls (2007, G) |
|
| 146 |
Premonition (2007, PG-13)
Not a masterpice but still a pretty good movie. The plot is interisting enough and Sandra Bullock's performance is definitly the major quality of the movie. The movie's atmosphere is dramatic and depressive but effective. |
|
| 147 |
Saw IV (2007, R)
More of the same. Pluzzes, a plot that aparently makes no sense, bizzarre traps, lots of blood and people dieing and a good twist in the end, obviously. |

Live Free or Die Hard (2007, PG-13) |

|
| 152 |
The Animatrix (2003, Unrated) |
|
| 153 |
The Reaping (2007, R)
I was a little desapointed with this one. The story is interesting enough for you to keep following but not as exciting as it should have been. In fact, the slow pace is the greatest flaw of the movie, only compensated by an always solid performance from Hilary Swank. |
|

Ju-on: The Grudge (Ju-on 3) (2003, R)
I saw the american remake before this one and therefore it isn't as scary as it would be if I didn't saw The Grudge first. The comparison is inevitable but the two movies are the same and different at the same time. Ju On may not have Sarah Michelle Geller as leading actress, and it may not have the fancy visual effects that its remake has but it has still to offer a good storytelling experience and an excellent creepy environment, with the sound climaxes perfectly in sync. Storywise, the two movies aren't different, with some slighty differences in some scenes. The Grudge focus more on the story of the original family of the house but Ju On focuses more on the different characters events. |

Stephen King's Desperation (2006, R)
I wasn't aware that this was a tv adaptation of a Stephen King's novel when I watched it but it sure didn't looked like one. Its quality is better than many movies made for the theaters out there. I haven't read the novel but the plot was good. |

Audition (Ôdishon) (1999, R)
Not quite as good as I was expecting. Sure it is a decent Japanese thriller/horror movie but you may lost interest in it soon after you start watching it, at least if you aren't an experienced watcher of horror japanese flicks. The movie has almost two hours of length and you have to wait almost a full hour to see something really interesting. I know that the slow pace is a featured often used to build up the tension but this one took that "rule" a little bit too far. |

Robots (2005, PG)
I had low expectations about this one and that's why I found it suprisingly good. Technically the movie is perfect (even better than some other animated movies more recent), its plot is original (usually animated films are with people or animals), the dialogues and scenes are hilarious, especially those where Robin William's robot character comes in, and there arenot "dead" moments, is allways something relevant and/or funny happening. |

Vampire Hunter D (Banpaia hantâ D) (1985, Unrated)
It may not have the brilliantism of its sequel (Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust) in the terms of animation, which isn't surprising considering that the first one was made on 1985 and the second one just recently (2006) but storywise the older movie is better, D is more "human", shows feelings and speaks more than just one line or two. |

Atonement (2007, R)
A good drama/romance movie but not quite good enough to be a masterpice. There is nothing wrong with it but the part where Robbie is in France during WWII, the movie's pace is to slow and nonsense (although that is understandeble, considering the fact that he is delusional). But what makes the movie better than many other rubbish out there is stunning ending. |

This one is technically perfect but it has some flaws in what comes to the plot and the comic scenes. It has some hilarious scenes and the ideia of a documentary is pretty cool for an animation film but still there is something missing in the movie to make it a perfect one. I'm just not sure of what it is. |

I finally brought myself to watch this movie. Considering that this is a action movie, it actually is pretty good. Ok, the story isn't mindblowing or anything, but no one would ever expect that from this movie. As expected, Michael Bay delivered another great action movie, with plenty of CGI effects, explosions and battle scenes. The story, uh... well, lets just say that the typicall american acidental hero played by a teenager is just another Hollywood clichč. But still, Shia LaBeouf suprised me with is brilliant performance. |

Gosh, this one made me feel glad for not being an American or at least for not living there. My country's health system is far from perfect but it sure is better than the american one. It is amazingly shameful how the most powerful country in the world can't provide to its own people such a basic need -- free health care. Here in Portugal, we have the so called "socialized medicine". Sure there are major lists for cirurgical operations and croweded emergencies rooms where who have to waits longs hours (depending on the emergency level, of course) but at least we don't take the risk of losing one hand or even dying just because we aren't insuranced or it does not cover our condition. It's far better to have to pay high taxes and in exchange to have a free healthcare system than to the american way. |

This is a great movie. The plot is good, the dialogues are hilarious, at the same time that are dramatic or romantic and it's a movie well paced. And the cast, well, it couldn't be better. Ellen Page acting was awsome, as it usually does and the other cast members did well too. |

First of all, I'm not a fan of zombie movies. Still, this one seamed to be good enough to be worth watching. And I wasn't wrong. Apart from the fact that the zombies were pathetic and not scary at all, it's the apocalipitc atmosphere that gives the film something worth watching. |

Besides, to have experienced and talented actors increases a lot a movie's quality level. |

This is one more great animation film, at least technically. The visuals are just perfect. The storyline, however isn't that great. But again, futuristic sci-fi can't offer much more than the old "machines destrying manking" theme. Even though the story and dialogues can turn out to be boring you most likely will not get frustrated because you will be busy observing the amazing details of the animation quality. |

This small budget suspense & mistery film is surprisingly good. It may not be a masterpiece but it surely causes the desired effect. Those ghosts were creepy, especially in the begining when you didn't knew where or why were they coming from. But the athosphere is really the bet thing was to offer. Two people stuck in the middle of nowhere with a chilling storm coming with only a wrecked car as shelter. Plus, the cast performance is really good. |

1408 (2007, PG-13)
This movie gives a whole new meaning to the word "haunted". A very original story and a good performance by John Cussack are also some of the things you can find by watching this one. |

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2) (2008, PG-13)
Yes, it's true, I was expecting this to be a better movie. The story is a little to much "normal" for an X-Files movie. Unlike the first movie, this one fails to keep non X-Files fans interested and motivated to watch it. But being a true fan myself, it is impossible to me to say this is bad. Sure it could have been better but Im still very happy with it. I have Mulder and Scully back!!! XD |

Mirrors (2008, R)
I really liked this one. The rating might be a little high but I couldn't help myself. This movie is scary and has a couple of very impressive gore scenes. |
