Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys) (1995,  R)
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)
The best time travel movie ever made. Even though this is based upon another movie, upon further study I found this to be the superior of the two films by a lot. This is due to the fact that Terry Gilliam is an artistic genius. The surreal and real parts of this movie are so delicately interwoven that even you as the audience can barely tell them apart. What truly is going on in this movie, is it all a delusion in someones head that you get to watch or was there really a man from the future that failed to prevent the apocalypse. You are the one who has to decide what it is that you take away from this film, which is really what makes it great.

District 9 (2009,  R)
District 9
District 9 was an utter surprise to me. It is without a doubt one of the best Science Fiction movies to come out in the last two years. The CGI in this movie is used so adeptly that I found myself not noticing it and getting immersed in the story. The Acting, Direction, Style, and Writing in this film were top notch. The battle at the end of the film was action packed and breathtakingly captivating, being scenes full of both action and drama. I throughly enjoyed this film, Neil Blomkamp is a director who I will definitely be keeping my eye on. I recommend this film to anybody who likes Science Fiction or Action.

Donnie Darko (2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
Donnie Darko is an excellent film. Its simplistic yet effective surrealism make this film a joy for me to watch. This film has gained quite a cult following and is an amazing picture. The director;s cut is quite good as well though I wouldn't say that it was better than the theatrical cut. If you have not yet seen this film then you should at least try to watch it because it is quite good.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
This is one of the more interesting dramas to come out in a long time due mainly to the fact that the director Michel Gondry is a genius. "Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind" is the rise and fall of a relationship in modern America. The thing that separates this film from the rest of the dramatic pack is the science fiction angle that it takes and the later use of fate and destiny, because even though they erased each other out of their respective lives, they are drawn to each other. A great film for people who love good films.
12
The Fifth Element (1997,  PG-13)
The Fifth Element
Director Luc Besson's Science Fiction Masterpiece. This is just a flat out great Sci-Fi / Action flick. The look, feel, and artistic work on this film are just so well done that when I first saw it, it took my breathe away. The cast is amazing, the writing is great, and the film itself is also just entertaining eye candy. Worth a watch if you haven't seen it and always worth a re-watch if you have.
13
The Fly (1986,  R)
The Fly
This film is one of the best science fiction/horror movies of all time. Cronenberg is at his best with this film. The metamorphosis of Jeff Glodblooms character in this film is one of the most horrific transformations ever put to celluloid and I love it.
14
The Fountain (2006,  PG-13)
The Fountain
I wasn't quite sure how I felt about this movie until I saw the ending and then I realized that I love it. This movie is amazing. This film is an allegorical masterpiece, full of vibrant colors, and wonderful actors. This film is Darren Aronofsky artistically working in a way that I had never seen before. Ever since the film "Pi" came out I have admired Aronofsky's vision but this movie takes it to a whole new level. The story isn't quite coherent and it switches back and forth between the three periods but I didn't care, I was simply captivated by the beauty of this film.
15
Gattaca (1997,  PG-13)
Gattaca
This film proves the point that hard work and will power can overcome superior genetics. It is about a dystopian future society where people are judged by the genetic stock that they come from, and where "natural birth babies" grow up to be second class citizens. The relationships, character dynamics, and great writing make this a science fiction film that should not be missed. The performances by Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Jude Law are all incredible. The atmosphere is almost a retro looking future, which I find fascinating. The overall cast of this movie of such a high caliber that the film really couldn't help but be great. I really enjoy this movie and would recommend it to anyone who has not seen it.

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
My favorite Star Wars Movie and the only one that I haven't lost faith in since the dreaded "Special Editions" of the 1990s and the series ruining Prequel Trilogy of the early 2000s. Even when they remastered, reedited, and added extras to the original films, The Empire Strikes Back was the least effected film when that happened due to the fact that George Lucas himself realized that as film "The Empire Strikes Back" speaks for itself. This film is just flat out good, it transcends the rest of the Star Wars Trilogy and even the Star Wars name itself. This is by far probably the greatest sequel ever made, it surpasses the original in almost every way but especially in the dramatic department. This is the movie that made me care about what happened to the characters a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
