A beautiful faitytale - all you've heard about this film being an all-time greats is true. This is a great film, but then again that's nothing new to note.

Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
Scream is a genuine postmodern mainstream horror-movie classic; Scream
impressively manages to reward sophisticated viewers whilst offering
pleasurable mainstream horror movie fluff. Scream's greatest
accomplishment is its neatly balanced equilibrium of mainstream appeal,
by obeying the fundamental conventions of the genre, and sophisticated
satire of the clichés and conventions of the horror movie genre.

When viewed retrospectively, the efforts of successive films in the
genre and the parody of it in the (at best) sporadically charming Scary
Movie may lessen the impact of this film. Nonetheless, this potential
criticism itself stands as testament to Scream's influence and its
legacy of having reinvigorated and informed what had become a tired and
clichéd genre.

Candyman (1992,  R)
Candyman
I very much enjoyed this film a true great in its genre. I fear that its legacy has been maligned by its successors.

33
Pi (1998,  R)
34
JFK (1991,  R)
JFK
Powerful, and worryingly convincing - this film has nothing to do with real life. The film preaches to the naive and the misguided. Unfortunately, that audience is significant in number. This is a dangerous film.

The plus points are that it is compelling, if a tad long, Kevin Costner offers a fine performance and is by no means alone in that respect.
