This is a list the "G" thru "O" DVDs in my house. The list is mostly composed of my own collection, but some of them are my wife's and/or my son's. The list is in alphabetical order and will be a forever growing list. The list excludes all the TV Box Sets we own as well.
Underrated comedic/mystery caper from the master of ensemble casts, Robert Altman. It gets better with each viewing, Clive Owen, Emily Watson and Helen Mirren are standouts.
Better than you're usual comic adaptation, but not the best. Good visuals, and good action highlight this film. Ron Perlman is a hoot in the lead. I am looking forward to the sequel.
Great script, great cast, a very good time. I like this love even more than Pulp Fiction. It's twisting complex plot with a big payoff and has characters that are real and you come to care about them.
Whether your watching the long version or the really long version, this movie is exceptional. And whether you believe the theory or not, it's hard to deny its power of persuasion. Absolutely riveting.
One of my faves. It's poetic watching the three main stories connect and intertwine. Good twists, great cast. The Night Owl interrogation scene is classic.
Near perfect movie, too manys endings would be my only complaint. But the movie's visuals were breath-taking, for me, Bernard Hill was a stand-out in this brilliant cast.
This movie still blows me away. With every viewing, I now know what's coming, but I continually keep trying to put things together. Totally original, and has been copied many times since, but never equalled. Guy Pierce is perfect.
Ignore Tom Cruise the person, he is an amazing actor and he picks amazing movies. Of course, it helps having Spielberg at the helm and Scott Frank as the screenwriter working off of a story by Philip K. Dick. It's just mesmerizing. It works as a sci-fi, it's works as an action film, it's works as supense/mystery/thriller. Not a bad scene, flawless.
James Stewart's performance alone makes this film worthy of five stars. It's hypnotic as the doughboy, All-American optimist. The filabuster finale is riveting. Excellent supporting cast, spots of humour throughout.
Fast-paced and fun. Ocean's crew has returned to form. An improvement over the second and easily as entertaining as the first installment. But I still give the edge to "11" because of the sharp, witty dialogue.
This could potenially be one of the greatest films in cinematic history, but I'll probably never know. I didn't get around to taking in home when I managed a video rental outlet that carried a copy on VHS, and now the store and VHS are gone. And it's doubtful that it will ever be released on DVD. Yet another masterpiece dies with VHS, pity.
