My Most Hated Movies
50 films I REALLY didn't like. In rough order from "so bad I want to gouge out my mind's eye" to "almost bearable if I was only half conscious".

Bloodsport III (1997, R)
This is honestly and truly the WORST film EVER made (with the possible exception of the fourth instalment, which I didn't know existed until recently). If you have a fascination with truly bad films give this Z grade flick a try, and it might just become your personal worst film ever made too. It starts off ok as a laugh at how ridiculous it all is but even that wears off pretty quickly. I haven't seen any of the other Bloodsport films, but even fans of the first 2 seem to be mostly mystified by how such a steaming pile of crap was created. |

Miami Vice (2006, R)
Wow, what an absolute stinker! Michael Mann is a talented director and really shows off his ability to make the violence seem real, but unfortunately everything else about the movie is bad. To say that I just couldn't care less about the characters or what the hell was going on would be a wild understatement. Do avoid this one. |

Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956, Unrated)
After watching the original Japanese version 'Gojira' I was interested to know just how much the Americans butchered the film when they made their own version. The answer is, a hell of a lot. The scenes with Raymond Burr are spliced into footage from the original in the most stupid and contrived ways, and it's often completely obvious that the footage comes from two different films. What's more, the American commentary is patronising toward the Japanese people and the overdubs are terrible. It's such a messy, heavy handed attempt at changing the film for an American audience. Chances are I may have been kinder if I'd seen this version first, but as a contrast to the original it is possibly the best example of the Western world getting hold of something and completely fucking it up. |

American Pie 5: The Naked Mile (2006, R)I pretty much wish I'd never seen this. It starts off bearable, but as the jokes get more and more ridiculous (and trust me they do), they entire movie also gets more cringe worthy. It actually might be a competitor with Cruel Intentions 2 for the "descending a movie franchise into nothing but soft porn" award. That's enough American Pie! |

Shin seiki Evangelion Gekijô-ban: Shito shinsei (Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth) (1995, Unrated)
Don't bother. From what I can tell the first half is an attempt to pack the entire series into an hour as a catch up. It doesn't really work, because I still hardly had any idea what was going on, and if you've watched the series you'll surely be a bit bored. and the second part is repeated in the 'End of Evangelion' film anyway. |

Bewitched (2005, PG-13)
I somehow managed to convince myself that this was going to be decent. The concept seemed kind of clever, and I'd heard some reviews say it was a good parody of Hollywood etc ... unfortunately it's terrible. Now I have the embarassment of being reminded by my girlfriend every few weeks that I chose to hire this out :p |

Jeepers Creepers (2001, R)
In regards to movies that take unexpected turns in the middle and seem to become a different film altogether, this is probably only second to 'Dusk till Dawn' ... and in this case it is very much a bad thing. The first half is a fairly decent thriller where the bad guy is an unseen truck driver ... then suddenly a giant monster shows up and we're left with one of the stupidest schlock horror films imaginable. |

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008, R)
I had some hope for this, because I didn't mind the first one and the escape from Guantanamo Bay concept seemed like a good one. Turns out it's a big pile of meh. One of my favourite things about the first one were the jokes about the ethnicity of the main characters, which would poke fun at the ignorance of white America. They kind of went a bit overboard with this one though, especially in the first half, and it stops being funny after a while. The gross-out jokes are really turned up a notch too (almost every bodily fluid shows up at some point), and it just felt unecessary to me. Also, a lot of the things that the movies makes fun of are so serious (rape in detention centres etc.) that I found it hard to laugh. If you're going to try that kind of thing you've got to make sure you do it really well, otherwise the audience is going to feel uncomfortable ... and Harold and Kumar just don't have what it takes to pull it off. |
