This is why Hoskins is one of the finest actors in Britain. This is his Magnum Opus.

You can't not love this. Daft as hell.

See it squarely for one of the finest swordfights ever commited to film between Tyrone Power and Basil Rathbone. The film's not too shabby either.

A strange film about the loss of idealism. Phil Daniels puts in the performance of his life, he's a great actor but he will never better this. Not hugely enjoyable to watch, 70's realism too gritty to be actively enjoyable. Clunky in places yet somehow just ingrains itself on your consciousness and doesn't let go.

Vikings and Arabs battling cannibal savages? Check. Not a perfect movie by any means, it's flaws are glaring, but hey it's got Vikings and Arabs battling cannibal savages. Sometimes that's just what you want on an evening.

Possibly the single most perfect movie ever made. Not a single flaw, it's scope and daring will take your breath away. Keaton again the consumate performer.

Fun. Screenplay by someone who was hitting a lot of drugs at the time.

Most people would say that Ang Lee was the wrong person for the wrong genre. I say that this is the best comic book movie ever. I have no problem with being asked to use my brain in a movie. The effects are spot on, Eric Bana is spot on. In fact, as with all Ang Lee movies, this is a great movie, except he didn't make the "Hulk smash" movie people wanted.

Extremely powerful movie. Has some slight flaws but these pale into comparison with the scope ambition and pure achievement of this work.

How not to get ahead in Hollywood.

Unwanted present. Aimed far too low to give anything to adults.

Tim doesn't seem so barmy until he delivers the fantastic soliloquy on bear poop. From that point on he gets ever more bizarre. An incredible journey into the mind of someone whose passion became an obsession.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant. Unashamedly aims for greatness and manages it without falling into pretentiousness.

Some great imagery but some bits don't hold water. Surpassed in practically every way by Moulin Rouge.

Contains more unforgettable cinematic moments than most directors manage in an entire career. Clint grabs the plaudits but Eli Wallach matches him step for step in an incredible performance.

Slow burning drama that holds me utterly spellbound every time I watch it.

See I knew Daniel Craig was a great actor ever since Our Friends In The North. Possibly the best Gangster Drama since The Long Good Friday. None of that Lock Stock crap either.

It is fated that thou shalt laugh merrily.

Biggest pitfall to avoid in a movie like this - sentimentality. And it avoids it superbly with a brilliantly nuanced performance from Mathew Broderick in his finest role and supreme supporting acts from some of America's greatest actors.

Sean Connery and Michael Caine having the best fun of their careers.

Best Shakespeare film. Ever. Gory, and wonderful.

Fun. Good acting, enjoyable, Jeremy Northam especially having a very good day at the office. The twist is an unoriginal one, but it doesn't make it less effective for that. An enjoyable film to watch. Nothing more nothing less. But that alone puts it above most of the rubbish Hollywood puts out.

A true masterpiece. Not a line, a scene or a note out of place. Tim Roth acts his heart out. The world is truly a better place for this film being in existence. Watch it. Then watch it again.

What The Matrix should or could have been. This promises to blow your mind but holds back, leaving you wanting more. Basically this film is so cool it hurts. Expect Day Watch to clean house.

Escape To Victory, set in India, with Cricket not football, and songs. And 3 hours long. Bliss:)

WATCH THIS MOVIE!!

Wow.

While trying to understand a comedy through subtitles is always gonna mean that some jokes are just lost, this more than makes up for it with some of the best visual gags seen since Airplane. It is very long and lopsided with too many jokes crammed in the first 2/3s of the movie before they thin out into almost a straight romance by the end but this film has a wicked sense of humour and feels fresh, unlike the tired American and British Rom Coms.

Pretty much incomprehensible as a story. So much so that they include a booklet to explain it. And yet, you don't care. A work of art.

More imagination in it's little finger than most directors will find in their entire career. Unfortunately because of the nature of the beast, there are obvious and blatant limitations as to what could be achieved, leading to a loss of clarity, especially in the action scenes.

Apart from the notorious self mutilation (fish hooks put where fish hooks were never meant to go) there isn't an awful lot to recommend about this movie. It's themes have been explored better elsewhere.

Kahn attempts to discover his enigmatic Father through the buildings he left behind, and through them he, and we along with him do come to understand him. The buildings are the star here, they are truly stunning. The ending scene where a Bangladeshi Architect breaks down over the beauty of Kahn's last building, the Parliament Building in Bangladesh is possibly the most moving scene I have ever seen on film.

Greatest political thriller off the last decade.

Great fun. Basically get a lot of funny actors together and come up with the second greatest Rock Comedy after Spinal Tap.

Get past Shyamalan's pretty damn big ego and the unflattering names of Narf's and Scrunt's and you've got a pretty enjoyable fantasy film, if you don't think too hard about it.

Disappointing. Bitterly disappointing. How can you have a near three hour movie with no character development. At all! Kevin Spacey tries in vain to do something with his script castrated Luthor. He pulls laughs out from nowhere, but in the end not even an actor of his talents can liven up a script where we don't care about the characters. The only character I did care about was Lois Lane's husband!. It's Supes we're supposed to be rooting for, but it's the Husband who goes back for Lois and his kid without any super powers, single handedly attempts to rescue them without any super powers, rescues Superman, without any super powers and actually does something with his screen time. All Supes does is save the world, again! And looks angsty, which unfortunately, though Brandon Routh looks the spit of Christopher Reeve, and looks good being super, he has nowhere near the emotional warmth Reeve brought to the role. I wanted this to be good, I still enjoyed it, even though it wasn't. Future movies can improve if they actually bother to do anything with the characters, but it's a wasted opportunity.

Predictable but enjoyable with loving performances all round, Rachel McAdams shines.

Got a drug addiction? Want to quit? Watch this movie. Seriously, after the Fridge Monster you will never touch drugs again in your life. Quite incredible film.

Possibly a perfect movie. The fact that much of the script is drawn direct from the record is enough to justify Murrow's god like status among broadcasters. It's amazing stuff. Straithern is wonderful.

Greatest musical ever made.

Surprisingly good for a Cruise vehicle. This is more than just action and Cruise gets to act a bit too. Ticks all the appropriate boxes and has a Samurai vs Ninjas fight, what more could you want.

One of Costner's best films. This is a fantastic story of an escaped con kidnapping a little boy and forming a friendship. What makes it great is that Costner does not soften his character one inch. He is still every bit a criminal. Great stuff.

Complete and utter gibberish as far as story is concerned. But that song...

Apart from the gorgeous Vide Cor Meum on the soundtrack, there really was no need for this. Nothing wrong with it really, it just Pushes Lecter into the real world whereas he was always most terrifying in our minds.

Didn't hold my attention.

Wow. Like De Niroand Pacino in Heat, putting these two actors in a movie guarantees sparks. Gable and Lancaster chew the scenery out from under each other's feet. This tends to be unfairly forgotten. A pity, it's a truly great movie that never once lets up the tension and has you gripped from beginning to end.

Nothing to be said about this movie that hasn't been said. Loses half a star because they are gonna repeat the trick by putting De Niro and Pacino in a remake of 36 a French film where good cop battles bad cop for the post of police chief but both end up as bad cop.

Great when I first saw it, but becomes less interesting with each viewing (3) Technically virtuous but not much actually here.

Not for the faint of heart this is unrelenting stuff. Prepare yourself for tragedy, then add a large dose of more tragedy and top it off with some tragedy. All the while keeping as cold an eye as Kubrick, almost documentary apart from a wonderful dream like sequence. A Bleak Masterpiece. Don't expect a happy ending.

It's Casablanca, what more can I say?

It's only crime is it's slightly less great than anything else Ang Lee has done.

Made it Ma. Top of the World. And Cagney lights up the night. A searing performance.

Forget everything else, this is Nicholson's finest hour. Truly great and unfairly forgotten film.

"They look like big strong hands don't they" with these words the Rockbiter starts a speech by the end of which will have you sobbing. Mature pure fantasy story telling. Quite simply it does not come better than this.

Apparantly this is the butchered studio version. The (even) longer Directors version apparantly made sense. It doesn't matter. Through the sheer beauty of the film and the jigsaw like quality of the scenes, the languid philosophy and the ever changing cast this would be a masterpiece if it had been edited by Ed Wood.

Greatest existential Western ever made.

Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very funny.

If Ralph Fiennes is not the finest actor of his generation then this film could not have been made. Simply stunning.

Not what I expected at all. In a good way. Very funny, original, with a terrific baddie played by Vincent D'Onofrio and some terrific bit players. Worth seeing twice.
