1
A Man Called Hero (Zhong hua ying xiong) (1999,  R)
A Man Called Hero (Zhong hua ying xiong)
Manga style, martial arts madness and beautiful asian boys.
2
Alien (1979,  R)
Alien
The first of the Quadrilogy. The scene stealing scene with John Hurt is legendary.
3
Aliens (1986,  R)
Aliens
The sequel to Alien, not as good as the first movie but very good none the less. The line spoken by Sigourney Weaver: "Get away from her you bitch!" will go down in history!
4
Alien 3 (1992,  R)
Alien 3
Has its good points but not as easy to sit through as the first two. The last scenes are the best.
5
Alien Resurrection (1997,  R)
Alien Resurrection
A step up from the 3rd installment. Carrying a heavy message of monstrous femininity it is a great end to a genius Quadrilogy.
6
Beauty and the Beast (1991,  G)
Beauty and the Beast
A classic timeless tale.
7
Clerks (1994,  R)
Clerks
The introduction of Jay and Silent Bob, how can that be bad?
8
Clerks II (2006,  R)
Clerks II
Many years later a very rude and fitting sequel to Clerks. How they got away with the donkey scene i'll never know! Kevin Smith is a genius.
9
El Mariachi (1993,  R)
El Mariachi
The first of the Robert Rodriguez trilogy. Not as watchable as the second two because antonio banderas does not star in this one.
10
Desperado (1995,  R)
Desperado
The best of the three films. Made me look at buskers in a whole new way!
11
Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003,  R)
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Not as good as the second film but it has Johnny Depp in it, need i say more?!
12
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992,  R)
Bram Stoker's Dracula
A solid interpretation of Stoker's classic novel. Gary Oldman pulls the creepiness and the charisma off very well. Things to watch are Winona Ryder's dodgy english accent and the miscasting of Keanu Reeves, what were they thinking? Anthony Hopkins is on form though so we'll forgive them for that much.
13
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994,  R)
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Genius from start to finish! Kenneth Branagh really knows his stuff. Helena Bonham Carter is a dream and even Robert DeNiro surprised me, he's usually so wooden, but in this he bares his soul. bravo.
14
Van Helsing (2004,  PG-13)
Van Helsing
One word. ridiculous.
15
Footloose (2010,  PG-13)
Footloose
Ah, a young Kevin Bacon in tight jeans 80s ness. Pumping tracks and excellent dance moves, one i can watch over and over.
16
Flashdance (1983,  R)
Flashdance
Another 80s gem, the scene at the end is brilliant. I also like the welder's dance routine at the club where she gets wet through and the other one with all the strobe lights and the tv.
17
Pretty in Pink (1986,  PG-13)
Pretty in Pink
John Hughes at his best! Jon Cryer as Duckie is the best thing in the whole film. His show stopping number of
Try a little Tenderness is so cool. Why oh why does she not see how great he is, instead of the rich, mopey Andrew McCarthy? At least James Spader is sexy in his evil role.
18
The Mummy (1999,  PG-13)
The Mummy
Special effects galore. The guy playing the mummy is a actually my favourite character.
19
The Mummy Returns (2001,  PG-13)
The Mummy Returns
Not as good as the first film but still loads of special effects and quips to laugh at. The mummy guy is still excellent and the tragedy of it is actually quite clever.
20
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008,  PG-13)
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
This was just a sequel for sequels sake. Crap compared to the first two. I couldn't deal with the cast change of Evie. Its a good job they got someone as good as Jet Li to play the baddie just to stop me from nodding off.
21
The Scorpion King (2002,  PG-13)
The Scorpion King
If you watch it as an independent film from the franchise its not half bad.
22
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior (2008,  PG-13)
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior
Another poor sequel. Why do they bother!
23
2 Seconds (1999,  Unrated)
24
Nine Dead Gay Guys (9 Dead Gay Guys) (2002,  R)
25
9 songs (2005,  Unrated)
9 songs
Basically porn set to an indie set list. Although the relationship conveyed is is still heartbreaking and very real.
26
10th and Wolf (2006,  R)
10th and Wolf
I only got it because James Marsden is in it, shallow i know.
27
10 Things I Hate About You (1999,  PG-13)
28
15 (2004,  Unrated)
15
A crazy asian film. If you hate subtitles, weird themes, gay relationships, odd camera angles and abusive drug taking etc then this films not for you.
29
20 Centimeters (20 Centimetres) (20 centímetros) (2005,  Unrated)
30
21 (2008,  PG-13)
21
Based on a true story and totally launched on the success of the Ocean's trilogy. It was ok, Spacey's actually quite edgy for a card counting nerd.
31
27 Dresses (2008,  PG-13)
27 Dresses
Ah James Marsden again. Typical chick flick but strangely addictive even for someone like me who doesn't believe i true love, marriage or any of that crap.
32
28 Days (2000,  PG-13)
28 Days
Sandra Bullock shocked me in this film, she could do something else other than funny. Viggo is top notch! The scene with Bullock and her counsellor Steve Buscemi is genius.
33
40 Days and 40 Nights (2002,  R)
40 Days and 40 Nights
A stupid film about abstaining from sex.
34
100 Days Before the Command (1994,  Unrated)
100 Days Before the Command
Thought provoking and quite disturbing. I felt cold all over for most of the film and the homoerotic nature of it is evident.
35
200 American (2003,  Unrated)
36
300 (2007,  R)
37
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001,  PG-13)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Spielberg at his best, still knows how to tug the heart strings after E.T and manages to get us to spend hours questioning our own mortality.
38
A Bigger Splash (1974,  Unrated)
A Bigger Splash
Basically a cinematic homage to the painter David Hockney.
39
A Dirty Shame (2004,  NC-17)
A Dirty Shame
John Waters doing what he does best. Innuendo, crudeness and whole dose of reality.
40
A Four Letter Word (2008,  Unrated)
41
A History of Violence (2005,  R)
A History of Violence
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Viggo at his best! Mario Bello as his wife is also amazing.
42
A Knight's Tale (2001,  PG-13)
A Knight's Tale
A reworking of Chaucer's tales set to a rockin soundtrack from Queen and David Bowie. Rags to riches and all that jazz. Very entertaining. Paul Bettany is great.
43
A Love to Hide (Un amour a taire) (2005,  Unrated)
44
A Streetcar Named Desire (1951,  PG)
A Streetcar Named Desire
An excellent interpretation of the tennessee williams play. Marlon Brando id hypnotic. Vivienne Liegh as Blanche is so waifish. The contrast between the two is so powerful.
45
A Walk to Remember (2002,  PG)
46
Adam & Steve (2005,  Unrated)
Adam & Steve
A great comedy.
The musical number is inspired. A film that sends a great message about tolerance and different kinds of love.
47
All Over Me (1997,  R)
48
Along Came Polly (2004,  PG-13)
Along Came Polly
A silly rom com.
49
Alpha Dog (2007,  R)
Alpha Dog
Justin Timberland does quite well in this film.
50
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) (2001,  R)
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
Genius! The performances are so strong and the cinematography is so well done that you could even understand the story without subtitles.
51
America's Sweethearts (2001,  PG-13)
America's Sweethearts
Billy Crystal on top form with John Cusack as strong support. Catherine Zeta Jones is basically playing herself but who would think that she and Julia Roberts could play sisters?
52
American Beauty (1999,  R)
American Beauty
So classy. Alan Ball is an amazing writer. The casting is so spot on. Wes Bentley is so in love with death its
breath-taking. Annette Bening is on top form so is Kevin Spacey. God i could go on forever saying what i love about this film. Just watch it!
53
Alfie (2004,  R)

A poor remake of the michael caine film.

American Psycho (2000,  R)
60
Amnesia: The James Brighton Enigma (2005,  Unrated)
Amnesia: The James Brighton Enigma
Based on a true story that will leave you questioning at the end just as much as before you watched it.
