My zombie movies

One of my fave indy zombie movie. Of course when we talk about zombie we aint talking about original plot but who cares about the plot, we wanna see zombies munching on stupid victims walking right in our beloved living dead path! The acting although most of the time poor isnt really important here as the movie has a good structure/editing. Plenty fo gore for us gorehounds to enjoy varying from convincing to low-budget ones! A villain we learn to hate (the doctor), a superzombie eating-anything-including-other-zombies machine, blood, gore and a cast and crew who had fun doing this project! If u like independant horror then go for it! For ppl who love movies done by label like Subrosa , Troma, etc...

My first Asian dvd and I think compared to all those dark haired-female ghost stories this one totally rules. The first thing that came to my mind while watching it was 'damn this movie could be the Asian version of Dawn of the Dead (79's) as 95% of the movie action is in a mall. the plot is rather simple once again, what seems to be a Yakuza is hitten by Crazy Bee and Woody Invincible on their way back to their work at the store. Semi-conscious Crazy Bee gives the bad guy some juice he found near the injured man, juice that was what he thought. After hiding the man in their trunk went back to the store. Later in the day they went back to the parking only to see the man has disappear but what really happend? it turns out the famous juice was a liquid transforming ppl into zombie and with a zombie in a mall full of customers, u know what to expect and from there we are watching our heros trying to escape the zombie plague. not as violent as other Asian zombie movie this one still has some little gore, but this movie prefer action and action over blood and gore and they did it with success. Humor is playing a huge part in the movie but without falling into comedy territory. The acting is professional as well but the only complain I have is the movie is a little slow to start. For the first 40 min we get to know a little more about the characters but after those 40 min the action kick-in! Very interesting movie!

The movie release date is wrong as this movie was made in 1979 but only went to theatre in 1980. Anyway this is my absolute fave horror movie. Great gore with zombies that look like what real zombies would look like (decayed, and skeletic, there's some fresher ones as well) My fave ones are definitely the monk zombies! The acting is a little atrocious at time but maybe it's mainly due to the real bad dubbing! The cinematography is very well done and the choice of locations are perfect and somewhat really creepy! Other horror movies should (have) learn from this one as the action/horror started within 10 min. into the movie! Thank you Andrea Bianchi for this little gem! (Recommend to ppl who also like Zombie).

Actually can I review this movie after watching the Troma dvd?? NO! I've never seen such a bad quality dvd. Troma if you were to release such a piece of shit (film hasnt been remastered, clean up, restored,etc) well then you prolly shouldnt have release it! Most of the movie take place during night time which mean real dark picture throught most of it! From what I could see, this is an interesting low budget movie in the like of Zombie Lake, Toxic Zombies, etc... The plot is about a group of campers running into an old fortress and finding a confederate book, steal it and what do you know, dead confederate soldiers coming back to life. The acting is somewhat ok and the gore is rather good! Would prolly have a better rating if Troma had offered us a good quality dvd!

Remake of the classic Romero movie of 1979. Not as good as the original which in itself isnt an Oscar winner. those running zombie arent really scary, the fx isnt what I like the most as most of it was done on CGI and u can clearly see it, I prefer the good ole fx. the only kudos I give this one is the lonely guy in the gun shop and the end! Btw, this movie didnt start the fast running zombie trend, Messiah of Evil did in 1973. Dont get me wrong I dont hate the movie but I just think it's slightly overrated just like the original.

The 2nd of the Romero zombie trilogy. I remember the first time I saw this movie, it rocks but then some years later I have a different feeling about this movie. I sometime feel there are way too many long moments without anything happening or too many talking scenes but when the zombies enter the mall, there are plenty of action. The gore is great of course so is the acting. For this movie to be better, try to get the Argento version which is faster in execution with less talking scenes. But for me the best of the trilogy is still Day of the Dead which I will review sometime soon ;o)

A somewhat good movie in a way. Still the same zombie plot but what make this movie different is the format it was filmed on , 8mm. The 8mm format made this one look like those old dumentaries we see on the Discovery Channel or the like! Gorehounds will be somewhat disappointed as there isnt that much gore in it, ok there's some but not plenty of it! The one in it is good though! Nothing out of the ordinary, and the acting is forgettable. The feel of the whole movie is much like an artsy horror which mean not for everybody.

A movie that was way better when I first saw it some years ago! Now the only thing I can say is what a mess! Take some 15 min short-movies put them all together and u'll get the feeling of this movie which mean it has execrable editing! The gore is not really good as well, the acting well lets say that my 5yo cousin is an Oscar winner compared to these actors here! The make-up, well, lets say that zombies with a blue face grimacing doesnt look to scary! Sad and boring movie!

well what can i say about this Bruno Mattei (the master of the nun/naziploitation movies) movie! The acting is so horrible that u only will get a good laugh and entertaining movie for the next 95 min. This movie follow the same path as all other zombie movies, which is a (this time coming from) nuclear plant's accident emanating toxic gazes turning the natives and some workers as flesh eating ghouls. the zombies look goes from bad (blue face) to pretty good. the gore is like all Italian movie pretty great and realistic (done by maestro Giannetto de' Rossi who did fx for lotsa Italian horror), there's also plenty of action, nudity (yay), some unintentional humor (soldier dancing ballet anyone!), all the key element to create an entertaining movie. My only negative point is the use of stock footage and sometime the same footage is use over and over again). The first 30 and last 30 min are the greatest and most brutal of the movie! (Recommend to ppl who like Nightmare City).

Dir. Atsushi Muroga create a very good hommage to Lucio Fulci in 1990 and Im sure if Lucio saw this movie back then when he was alive, he must have had his ego flattered. The one scene that prove it, is the scene when the corpses in bag (victims of the Yakuza gang)
return to life. It really reminds me of the deceases at the Doc lab in Zombi when he shoots them in the head as soon as they return to life.. The main difference though is the numerous bits of humor integrated in the movie like to relieve the viewers from the violence / intense moments. This movie just like Children of the Living Dead / Biohazard also featured a super zombie. I would have been okayed without this one but I think she's there for the nudity factor required in horror's. The gore is nice, the acting is superb and the setting without being the best is also rated A. Recommend to ppl who love intense Asian horror / Zombi and Burial Ground fans as well

Fantastic 74 Spanish movie which have some similarities with Romero's Night of the Living Dead, one of them being the first zombie sighting, female alone seeing a strange man slowly walking toward her, etc... The movie has great gore fx although not too numerous, and again great photography and an original and good plot overall! The negative points are the acting or should I say overacting! Some zombies doesnt even have makeup fx on them but they still look creepy (the zombie with head bandage at the hospital). Btw, this movie has to have one of the most hated character in horror history, as the town sheriff! Damn! I wanted him dead so bad! I think ppl who love the orignal N.o.t.L.D might enjoy this one as well!

When I think some ppl think 28 Days Later or the Dawn of the dead remake is the first even fast running zombies, they probably never saw this gore-o-thon involving fast running zombies (who look like Mr Potato Head on crack)! Cheesy, gory, bad acting, bad clothing, nice synth music make this movie one of the best in the Z movies realm! (Recommend to ppl who like Hell of the Living Dead).

This is probably the only remake I like (along with Willard). Fx guru Tom Savini directed this remake and he really did a great job as this movie has more action and tension and blood/gore than the original 1968 movie! What I also like about this movie is that Barbara went from the shy/scared victim of the first movie to a strong willing woman in this one! All the main characters are back again with some better changes! Knowing that Savini is better known as one of the top gore fx, u may think this movie is gory but it isnt! I mean it has some great gore but nothing near the like of lets say Dawn of the Dead (1979) or Day of the Dead ; both for which he did fx! i would have really like to see more Savini directed movie but for now I have to contempt myself with this one and what a fun ride it is!.

Contrary to a lot of u out there I like this Jess Franco low budget movie! We follow some friends hunting some nazis treasure left in the desert during WWII but unfortunately for them, that treasure is guarded by Nazi zombies. There are lots of talking, nothing happening and slow pace scenes but they somehow contribute to the 'plot'. After almost a hour of inactivity the action started when the group arrived at destination. There's unfortunately no gore in this movie in exception of 1 scene but the zombies make-up compensated for that and is one of the best I've seen! Another nice and original touch is seeing the zombies rising from their desert graves, seeing the sand moving with the clicking noises they made was a nice and original creepy touch! The directing as well as the acting are of the amaturish variety and the low budget quality of the picture is another thing that sadly affects the final product! I mean come on, how come when editing the movie they never noticed that someone being attack by a zombie is during full day light while another character seems to be attack during night time and remember both person are attacked at the same time!!! They could have at least shoot all the scenes at the same time but hey this is the fun of low budget cinema! This Spain/France co-production is far from being a masterpiece but not a total crapfest either! For those who love Zombie Lake!!

Here we got what i would call the Argentian Dead Alive. Goofy horror movie with tons and tons of gore, acting that ranges from good to bad and lotsa cheese! not only are the characters funny but you have no choice but to root for them in any situation! U wont see a Land of the Dead here but if you like Dead Alive (although I think Plaga Zombie is way better) then u'll love this one!

Not sure why do zombies coming out of water so creepy but it is! A group of ppl on a small boat , seek refuge on an nearby island , after being struck by a ghostship, surely not knowing what's waiting for them, yep they will have to fight for their life and run from the super-zombies the Nazi created during WWII. Very great and creepy movie that unfortunately miss blood. The acting is very good so are the settings and photography! Those creepy nazi zombies arent ur usual zombies but more like undead ppl without the intelligence, and emotions but as mention earleir they are creepy anyway and they can be kill only one way, and no it's not a bullet in the head!!!

What the hell is this piece of crap? Beside 1 kill and a lesbian scene this movie is just a waste of time. How exciting is it to watch 45 min of ppl travelling on a deserted road and beside where the Vampires VS zombies in this movie??? Recommend to ppl who wanna watch a last movie before committing suicide!

Lucio Fulci's Zombie or Zombi 2 in Europe is best known for being Italian's first undead movie that was the inspiration for fellow director's own zombie movies. In my opinion this is Fulci's finest work. Zombie features everything that a good horror needs to deliver, this mean ; scary situations, great gore, rotten zombies that do look like dead coming back to life (no blue face zombies here), creepy atmospheres(when the zombies attack the wooden church), tension, and did i mention the realistic gore! my fave scene has to be (unlike many ppl w/ the wood splinter in the eye) but when the little group of ppl enter the house of the doctor and see the zombies feasting on his wife yummy lol. if u like slow rotten zombies that always catch whether u're running or driving a car then ZOMBIE is the movie u've always wish for! (Recommend to ppl who also love Burial Ground)..

Actually Zombie Doom isnt the name of the movie but more like the name of the dvd as it features 2 movie. The main movie on this dvd is 'Violent Shit 3 : infantry of doom' which is the 3rd and final entry of this trilogy. The first 2 movies are just plain and simple slasher without any story at all (more like kills after kills done s.o.v. style) so the 1rst time I saw this one I was totally amazed as it didnt take the same routine. This time super-villain karl the Butcher is the leader of a mutant gang terrorizing town and any ppl entering their zone. A group of ppl decide to go after the gang and take them down which result in bloody/gory death. Mix the plot with some dark humor. , some pseudo martial arts and an almost 'Mad Max' feel to it and u get one very good action horror movie. the acting may not be the best but hey this is a B-movie. By the way this movie has a bigger budget than the first 2 entries. Also on the Zombie Doom double feature is Zombie '90 : extreme pestilence. A zombie movie following the same path as other before (chemical disaster anyone?). this movie is over the top gory, has lot of strange humor, a baby being dismember by zombie... ooops sorry I meant a doll supposed to represent a baby, lots and lots of flesh eating actions BUT this movie has to has the worse ever dubbing. The voice of one of the Doctor is even worse than Mickey Mouse. sadly this movie on the dvd seems to be cut as my dubbed tape has a scene not feature in the movie in which a guy went peeing behind some bush and yep there was a zombie hiding there and u prolly know what happened to the poor guy's genital lol. Anyway this dvd is worth getting for the Violent Shit 3 alone!

WTH is this crap! Well I wont totally call it crap for the simple reason that the ppl behind this movie made it with no $ BUT with heart but doing a movie with it doesnt necessarly means good cos in this case it is very but very bad and not the so bad it's good kinda way. There are very little gore in this one in exception of some zombies eating meat someone put on his stomach over his t-shirt (I kid u not). the acting was the worse ever, the setting well beside a room and running around the same land in the forest over and over again there's none. The zombie looks are simply ppl making funny faces and occasionally smiling when the camera is near them. The only good thing and the reason I gave half a star was an 'actress' (I know I want to laugh as well) was cute! For collector of every zombie movies only! Recommend to ppl who wanna commit suicide cos after watching it u will!!!!
