Motel Hell (1980,  R)
Motel Hell
One of my favorite horror films. Lots of travelers seem to go missing near farmer Vincent and his sister's motel. Their relative, Bruce is the local sheriff. Bruce stops by to get some of Vincent's delicious smoked jerky, a regional favoriite. While he's there, he checks out the young blonde survivor of a motorcycle crash, Terry. She's recuperating at Vincent and Ida's while mourning the loss of her boyfriend in the crash. Meanwhile, the local meat inspector comes by for an inspection... Rory Calhoun is great as Vincent, and Nancy Parsons (Porky's) is wonderfully creepy as Ida. Look for bit parts by Wolfman Jack and John Ratzenberger (Cliff from Cheers). Definitely a cult B-movie: campy and cheesy and funny! Of course, you get plenty of gore too- my fave is the pig's head!

Eyes of Laura Mars (1978,  R)
Eyes of Laura Mars
This 70s thriller is one of my favorites, the storyline is just so creepy. Laura Mars (Faye Dunaway) is an artist who photographs sexy models for a living. When she starts seeing through the eyes of a killer as he murders his victims, she enlists the aid of a detective (Tommy Lee Jones) to help find the killer, before he finds her! Good 70s disco clothing and tunes! K.C., Heatwave, Michael Zager Band, Odyssey, and one of my fave Streisand songs! But don't let the soundtrack scare you off of this great 70s paranormal mystery!

Alice, Sweet Alice (Communion)
So bad, it's good! Decent 70s catholic horror with all the cheese and bad acting you need, along with creepy mask and knife. Brooke Shields (in her first feature film) does ok playing the favored child, Karen. I like Paula Sheppard, who plays the spiteful Alice, better. One of my horror favorites when I was a kid.

The Gate
Good kids find Hell's gate in their backyard and have to save the world before mom and dad get home. Cute little monsters. Pretty decent for 80s PG-13 teen horror cheese. Stephen Dorff's first feature film, I barely recognized him.
