The Reader (2008, R)
Great story but the explicit contents was the pullback of the film. But I can't blame the director. At least it was necessary for the film. The cast was great but I don't think Kate Winslet deserves her Oscar. I think it is for someone else. Although all my praises to her. She did a great job. It was sad for Kross because I thought this is going to be his breakthrough film. He still haven't got his breakthrough performance but he is a very dedicated actor. Great film. Try to watch it without any minor with you. |

Slumdog Millionaire (2008, R)
One of the greatest film I've ever watched! No wonder it won bunch of awards! But DEFINITELY NOT ALL PEOPLE WILL LIKE THIS. But I like it. The cinematography rocks. My praises to the cinematographer. Danny Boyle deserves his Oscar. The cast is great, especially the two kids. I hope the two kids do more movies. |

Atonement (2007, R)
"So my sister and Robbie were never able to have the time togther they both so longed for and deserved. Which ever since I've ... always felt I prevented. But what sense of hope or satisfaction could a reader derive from an ending like that? So in the book, I wanted to give Robbie and Cecilia what they lost out of life. I'd like to think this isn't weakness or evasion but a final act of kindness. I gave them their happiness." |

Juno (2007, PG-13)
I think most of the modern people can relate to Juno's life. This story is very "now". About the film. At first I thought, it is gonna be another stereotype American-comedy film but it's not. It brought a lot of new vibe in the Oscars. The script made the film deserving for the nomination, but (for me) not for the award. At least I've watched Atonement. And comparing the two, I think Atonement is way better than Juno. There is the feeling of sadness after the film (there should be) but it was like "nothing special". As for Ellen Page, she was great. She deserves her Oscar nomination. |

The Aviator (2004, PG-13)
Very nice biopic. Cate Blanchett did a great job in this film. Considering she is doing Katherine Hepburn, one of the best actress of all time. Leonardo Dicarpio did a great job in this film. He was able to justify Howard Hughes' character. The last scene was the best! The made Howard Hughes a very interesting person. |

"Dear Leonard. To look life in the face, always, to look life in the face and to know it for what it is. At last to know it, to love it for what it is, and then, to put it away. Leonard, always the years between us, always the years. Always the love. Always the hours. - Virginia Woolf" |

Chocolat (2000, PG-13)
"Once upon a time, there was a quiet little village in the French countryside, whose people believed in Tranquilité - Tranquility. If you lived in this village, you understood what was expected of you. You knew your place in the scheme of things. And if you happened to forget, someone would help remind you. In this village, if you saw something you weren't supposed to see, you learned to look the other way. If perchance your hopes had been disappointed, you learned never to ask for more. So through good times and bad, famine and feast, the villagers held fast to their traditions. Until, one winter day, a sly wind blew in from the North..." -Storyteller |

Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994, R)
Nice film. The film was absolutely funny. There was so dull moment in this film. From start to finish it was definitely entertaining. Nothing especial from their performances. I think the screenplay did bring the whole film. The story was unique and great. I just think that the Oscar nomination for Best Picture is a bit grand for the film. But I do think that the Screenplay nomination is good for the movie. They screenwriters really deserves it. Nice film watch it =) |

Letters from Iwo Jima (2006, R)
Great film. The best war film I've watched. It tells about different stories Japanese soldiers' in an isolated island called Iwo Jima during WW2. I usually get bored with this kind of film but his one made me stare at the television. I don't want to miss any moment of it. The whole movie blends with everything. The seriousness of the film was not too much because of Saigo. He maid it so light even though it is a film about war. It was a satisfying film from start to finish. I'm only concerned if Saigo and Hanako see each other again. Anyways, it was a good film as it is. It's my new favorite. |

Shakespeare in Love (1998, R)
Great acting by the lead guy but not with Gwyneth Paltrow. I didn't like her much in this film. There was an unjust feeling in her side. I do think the didn't blend with each other much. There was an enormous amount of sensuality between the two of them but it seems that they don't get it right. About the other member of the cast, Judi Dench is the greatest. She is the best. She deserves her Oscar very much. The rest of them is great. They really pulled everything together well. I also appreciate the other elements of the film, the costume, story, cinematography etc. I hope to see more of Gwyneth Paltrow. I think she is the next Meryl Streep. |

Gladiator (2000, R)
There inconsistencies in the film. Some of them worked but others didn't. For me it is a bit of a trying-hard film (not good to start my review). But if you try to look further, you can see a real meaning of the film. The story was one of the simplest. There was nothing really special with the story. It's about jealousy, that's it. But the big "BOOM" of the film is the acting and execution. I've already watch Chocolat and Erin Brockovich. Comparing the three, I think Chocolat stands out. It was a ver organize film unlike Gladiator. But I do agree with gladiator winning. There was so much talent in the film. Full of effort. That is what the other two films doesn't have. |

Saving Private Ryan (1998, R)
A boring start but a GREAT ADVENTURE. It has the perfect element of all that I know. They have a great cast but I think Tom Hanks is a miscast. I never liked him as an actor (except Forrest Gump). Him being a warrior is a big no for me. But nevertheless he did great but it could have been better. Spielberg is great and he will always be :D |

The Green Mile (1999, R)
A bit surprising. I was expecting it to be a heavy drama but it is actually a fantasy movie *SPOILER*. I think it is very original. It teaches us that first impressions aren't true. A lesson not so man films do have. On the technical side, they have the best set of cast (second to doubt :D). They all did a great job. even the smallest character did a great job. The best for me is Edward Delacroix. He made half the film touching than any other character. All of them are effective. The perfect blend. |

Dead Poets Society (1989, PG)
AT LAST. The long wait is over. I was very eager to watch this film because I learned that it is almost like Mona Lisa's Smile. I think it is actually better. Considering this kind of story is recycled a thousand times it is still unique. What I like the most about the film is it's simplicity. With a simple story of a teacher who did what he must do, they were able to go farther than teaching. It is like going deeper than what it is really about. Everyone can relate to this film because it shows the different kind of students with different interests but because of Mr. Keating, they became the best set of friends. |

The Silence of the Lambs (1991, R)
A two-hour psychological assessment. From the start up to the end it is full of mystery. You are thinking the way the characters are thinking. For two hours I felt smart :D. Great job for the screenwriter. With all my praises, but there is still an imperfection, the characters are not well introduced. Their lives before the movie, why are they what they are now etc. That is why think Hannibal Lecter is very remarkable. What you see is what it is. I was also a bit disappointed with the serial killer. I thought he is going to be more deeper as a person. Maybe as smart as Hannibal because he is not caught easily. But when I found out that it is just a frustrated guy that wants to be a girl etc., I said to myself, okay. I am looking forward to see the two other films connected to this film. I want to see more from these great performances. |
