2 Days in the Valley (1996, R)
a very entertaining movie. a great ensemble cast. it's about different people living thier lives with their own stories, and how they all eventually tie together over the course of 2 days. if you don't have enough reasons to think charlize theron is hot, watch this. besides, the acting is great. james spader's hitman character is just too much. it helps to solidify why he's such a good actor! |

Mr. Brooks (2007, R)
**BEWARE OF SPOILERS!** this was a pretty darn good movie. kevin costner playing a serial killer (about time he ventured to the dark side.) and the fact he doesn't feel happy about being that way was a nice, added dimension (especially with william hurt playing his "conscience" - although he wasn't there to keep mr. brooks morally centered. just great!). for a while, i thought demi moore's sublplot involving the escape of one the people she put away was unnecessary - until the end. and i have to say, how it was resolved (completely) - nice touch! not a big fan of dane cook, so they could've done with a better actor (not necessarily a well-known one, just one with some REAL acting chops). but his character made it interesting. i liked the ending, however, if they had ended it just before he woke from the dream, wouldn't it have made it just that much better? especially when you take into the account the revelations about his daughter earlier in the movie. but i still find him waking from that still effective. one of the best movies i've seen in a while. definitely worth watching again! |

Hard Candy (2006, R)
so i just watched this movie last night that was recommended to me by a couple of friends (that don't even know each other). very disturbing movie! some scenes were very hard to watch. for those of you who have not seen it, i will not say as to why. basically the story is about a 30-something pediphile who was stalking a girl online and finally meets her. he eventually takes her back to his house, where things take a horrific turn (depending on your point of view). |

Felon (2008, R)
a very intense movie! in an instant, stephen dorff's character's life is forever changed. defending his family from an intruder in his home, he ends up unintentionally killing the guy as he flees. and, soon, he is sent to prison. there, he he learns he has to fight to survive, including making alliances with people he normally wouldn't have anything to do with to insure his survival. throw into the mix a ruthless guard who "encourages" racially-charged fights in the "yard", and you have one hellish existence. |
