The Pursuit of Happyness (2006,  PG-13)
The Pursuit of Happyness
What a moving & inspirational film!

Will Smith is Chris Gardner, a father, a husband and a salesman struggling to make ends meet. His wife, fed up with the numerous years of disappointment with this career path, leaves him to pick up the pieces of their crumbling life. Right around this time, Gardner accepts a job as an intern at a brokerage firm. For the next 6 months their life is nothing but a struggle. One hardship after another and it seems like there's no end in sight.

Will Smith does an amazing job at capturing your heart. The pain, heartache and despair on his face looks so real that you almost forget he's acting at all. His son, Jaden, is such a cutie and was able to pull of his role very well.

Trial after trial, hardship after hardship you can't help but to feel for these two as they try to jump over the hurdles thrown in front of them. You want nothing more than to reach out your hand and give them the break they need.

At the same time it inspires you to never give up. To hold onto your hope, faith and courage when faced with adversity.

The underwater flying...uh...THING...has always been intriguing. The idea that there's something bigger & better than us, out there; alluring.

Birth
This was just plain weird! I mean, I don't even know what to say about this one!

Nicole Kidman plays Anna, a widow who is trying to move on with her life. She gets engaged to this fellow and then meets a young 10-yr old boy who claims to be her husband, reincarnated.

It's creepy. Especially with Kidman and the boy sitting in the tub together. It kinda makes you think she's actually thinking about doing something with the boy! HEEBIE-JEEBIES!

Shrek the Third (Shrek 3)
Hmm...although I really did enjoy this third installment in the series I do have to say that this one, by far, is more geared toward the adult audience rather than the kids. All three Shrek movies have adult humor and content but this one has the most. Be prepared to answer questions from the bright and inquisitive child...

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007,  PG)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
This one was FAR better than the first! The characters have matured and there's more of a storyline that you can really get into.

For example, the orginal F4 movie was mainly about how their powers came to be and trying to deal with their changes ... within themselves, as a group and in the public's eye. Lots of jokes and puns in that one and not much character growth.

In Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer we see the characters are not as uptight as they were in the first. They're used to their powers and a little bit more mature with a good storyline (who's this silver surfer and what is happening to the earth V.S Ack! My molecules are changing and I'm morphing into a superhero! What do we do now?!). The seriousness of what's happening leads to serious conversations between the characters and not so much bickering and pun throwing (still SOME but not as much).

It's not flashy, it's not all drama and tears, no hidden messages or moral of the story crap. Just pure, laid back fun.

Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
HOLY SHIT! This is by far THE BEST movie I've seen all year!

This is a highly entertaining movie right from the start. They don't waste anytime getting into the action...and boy...there is some fast paced action. So many things happening onscreen that you will want to watch it over and over to be sure you didn't miss anything. Hell, you'll want to watch it over and over just for the special effects!!

Superb acting from the entire cast. OMG...I just don't know what to say other than it totally rocks and if you haven't seen it yet, then to stop piss-fartin' around & get your blubbery butt out there and BUY the darn thing. No, don't waste your time renting it, just purchase it...you won't regret it.

Now, when's the next one coming out?? I want more! More! More!!

Hubby brought this home and needless to say I was NOT enthused! Definitely an 80's flick...so expect 80's movie quality right down to the special effects. The kids love it so I guess that's all that matters.

Kiss The Girls

The River King (2005,  R)
The River King
The movie starts out fairly well but ends up being one choppy piece of work.

The acting somewhat sucked from just about everybody. Edward Burns had his good moments but he fails to reel you in emotionally and therefore, you don't sympathize with his character in the end. Rachelle Lefevre has her good moments as well...they are both so close and yet so far from getting into character.

The storyline itself was alright. Burns is a detective trying to solve a mysterious death and in turn is illuminated by his own brother's suicide. It would have been fine if they kept the whole "fling" thing (between Burns and Ehle) out of it. For one, it was pointless; it had nothing to do with the story...and two, you don't even see it coming! You can kinda tell they like each other from the glances...but at one point she just jumps on him (she's engaged, mind you) and the whole bedroom scene takes off from there. It just didn't feel right within the movie itself and the chemistry between the two was non-existant but they tried to make it work. They failed. Miserably. And the actual filming effect they were going for, for that scene didn't work either. Apparently they were trying this blur effect and if anything it looked more like poor camera handling.

They really make you think there's this big conspiracy going on so you're hoping for some kind of twist in the end, but it doesn't happen. You're left feeling a bit confused and wondering why they added/kept certain scenes to begin with.

They had so many tangents going to this film that I really don't think they knew where they wanted to go with it.

I wanted soo much to like this film, but the horrible acting made it hard to like any of the characters and the choppiness of the story made it even more difficult.

This is, of course, just my opinion.

Wolf Creek (2005,  R)
Wolf Creek
An absolutely horrifying movie based on actual events that occured in Australia. Three friends set out on what was supposed to be an exciting trip across the country but the devious mind of a psychopath easily and unsuspectingly foiled their plans.

This movie was great in the fact that it was suspenseful although the suspense didn't kick in until halfway thru. I didn't find it predictable by any means. But of course, you're not going to find much predictability in a true story.

I thought the acting was great. Never once did they falter or have moments of unbelievability.

That said, I just have to say that the serial killer is one sick puppy. The whole truth factor behind this film adds to the creepiness of it all.

Desperate Measures
A cop willing to do what it takes to find his son a bone marrow donor. After an ezhausting search he finds the only match... a convict.

Of course, the cop is stupid enough to trust the convict and all hell breaks loose the night of the bone marrow extraction. One thing leads to another and it turns out to be one giant game of cat and mouse.

Keaton makes for a really creepy bad guy. lol This movie was alright, kinda hard to believe that out of a billion people who could be possible matches, the one he chooses happens to be a criminal... lol But I suppose the story had to start somewhere. lol

I Am Legend (2007,  PG-13)
I Am Legend
I finally saw this over the weekend and truth be told, it's not that bad. It portrays how being alone for so long can really drive a man to the brink of insanity. Will Smith is definitely on top of his game.

At first, I didn't much like the ending but after having some time to reflect, I can't really think of a better way to end it.
