Silent Hill (2006,  R)
Silent Hill
This film has some amazing shots, like the game come to life, and at times that is very affective. This is an enjoyable film with some gory parts and pretty good performances and the story is good, although it helps alot if you are familiar with the Silent Hill games.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997,  R)
I Know What You Did Last Summer
I didn't mind this one.Wasn't half as good as the first Scream movie despite having Sarah Michelle Gellar AND Jennifer Love Hewitt in it!
3
2001 Maniacs (2005,  R)
2001 Maniacs
This has some funny monents, some cool gory moments, some sexy bitches AND the guy that played Freddy Kruegar, the legendary Robert Englund. This was actually much better second time round, don't know what i was thinking the first time i watched it! Just a fun, over the top horror.
4
The Matrix Revolutions (2003,  R)
The Matrix Revolutions
Bit better than reloaded but nowhere near the first film!
5
The Amityville Horror (2005,  R)
The Amityville Horror
This is actually much better than i remembered and i enjoyed it more second time around. When the Lutz family move into a big new house which was previously the site for a mass murder they get caught up in it's haunted surroundings,George in particular, who hears voices and has frightening visions every night, driving him to near insanity which nearly tears the family apart. This is an improvement on the slightly boring original and has decent performances from the whole cast including Ryan Reynolds and the really fit Melissa George. Some scary moments and tension keep you glued to the screen, not literally, until the end.Overall,a well made haunted house horror.
6
A Room for Romeo Brass (2000,  R)
A Room for Romeo Brass
Good british Drama. You dont know whether to laugh or cry most of the time so its not always easy viewing but its a good, well acted story about friendship.

12
Salem's Lot (1979,  PG)
Salem's Lot
Cool book to film...erm...film about some creepy old bloke bringing a vampire into the small town of Salem's Lot.A few scary moments and a good story.
13
Jason X (2002,  R)
Jason X
Its more sci-fi horror than old school style horror like the others but its fun with a few dodgy one liners and some cool deaths!
14
Stephen King's It (1990,  Unrated)
Stephen King's It
Another book to film thing.I saw this when i was very young and it was so scary, clowns aren't right!
15
Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts) (2001,  R)
Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts)
Pretty good ghost story, the ghosts are cool and its quite exciting stuff but its let down by the ending, one part of which is so unbelievable it takes the piss and the other part, where the girl quits her job,is completely pointless.Especially as its the last thing we see before the credits.Other than that, good film.
16
Last Seduction (1994,  R)
Last Seduction
Cool film about a woman who gets her doctor husband to make a dodgy cocaine deal then runs off with the money to middle America where she lies and double-crosses to get her way.Linda Florentino is brilliant as the complete bitch!
17
Havoc (2005,  R)
Havoc
Good drama about a teenage girls coming-of-age.Its quite gritty and very tense in places and Anne Hathaway gives a great performance.
18
Visitor Q (Bijitâ Q) (2002,  R)
Visitor Q (Bijitâ Q)
Im not sure what to say about this film! Its strange and challenging to watch. Its about a dysfunctional family.Theres incest, rape and necrophilia but its actually not bad!
19
Reeker (2005,  Unrated)
Reeker
Cool horror movie with a good twist. At first i thought this was going to be another dodgy run of the mill horror but its actually got some good scary bits and a pretty decent ending.
20
Vacancy (2007,  R)
Vacancy
For the most part this film is tense and exciting to watch and Luke Wilson and the stunning Kate Beckinsale do a good job as the unhappy couple but it gets a bit silly towards the end and leaves you with a few unanswered questions.Still, this definately has it's moments and is a good idea for a horror film.,if you want a sit back and switch your brain off and just enjoy and get a few scares along the way then this could be exactly what your looking for!
21
Hostel: Part II (2007,  R)
Hostel: Part II
Like the first one but with girls!Theres definately some very gory, twisted moments. If you enjoyed the first one then you'll like this to.
22
Red Road (2007,  Unrated)
Red Road
Very good Scottish revenge Drama.Great performances and very compelling.
23
The Dark (2004,  R)
The Dark
Creepy psychological horror about a mother who loses her little girl to "the dark",some kinda limbo type place, when they visit the father who lives in a farmhouse by the sea. This is quite a gripping film with a few jumpy bits. Its also an interesting story with a decent,if pretty sad, ending.
24
Big Nothing (2007,  Unrated)
Big Nothing
This was a fun film.Perfect for just chilling out in front of the tv with a beer and a pizza!A cool black comedy with lots of twists.I was a bit scared that simon peggs american accent would be a bit stupid and cringeworthy but he doesn't do a bad job and i also managed to forget that david schwimmer was ross from friends!I guess you could compare it to kisskiss bangbang, its not quite as good as that but its still cool!
25
Live Free or Die Hard (2007,  PG-13)
Live Free or Die Hard
Plenty of great action sequences,Bruce Willis showing he's still got it as John McClane.Good fun, good performances and the way he kills the badguy at the end is just pure McClane/Jack Bauer!
26
Boo (2005,  Unrated)
Boo
Did a good job in scaring the living piss/shit out of me! Although the back-story can get a bit to much towards the end and some of the acting is a bit dodgy to say the least it does its job in that when its supposed to make you jump,it does!A few gory bits as well.A pretty decent horror movie.
27
Mean Machine (2002,  R)
Mean Machine
A british version of The Longest Yard that is probably better that the Adam Sandler version of the same name! Its ok,nothing special.Vinnie Jones plays a footballer in jail for assault and forms a football team with some of his fellow inmates in order to play a match against the prisons guards and obviously, theres some trouble along the way.Pretty good, some funny moments.
28
1408 (2007,  PG-13)
1408
A good horror that relies more on jumpy bits than on gore and it mostly works.John Cussack is great as the main character slowly going mad due the events surrounding him as he stays in room 1408 at the dolphin hotel. It maybe goes a bit far a couple of times and we dont see Samuel L. Jackson enough which is a bit misleading if you saw the trailer, but other than that, this was a good, edge of your seat horror.
29
The Wraith (1986,  PG-13)
The Wraith
This is just one of those films thats so bad that its good!A proper 80's thriller, its got Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crue on the soundtrack, its got Sherilyn Fenn looking fit and its got Charlie Sheen being cheesey.Good Stuff!
30
Shoot 'Em Up (2007,  R)
Shoot 'Em Up
This film is mental.Ok,two characters get killed by a carrot! The story is a bit stupid and theres no real depth to any of the characters but as a leave ya brain at the door, sit back and enjoy the violence kinda film it does it's job very well.Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti are brilliant as the hero and villain, respectively. And Monica Belluci is as sexy as ever as the lactating prostitute! Some great one liners and lots of great shoot out scences to which is a good thing really considering the title of the film!Exciting stuff.
31
A Fistful of Dollars (Per un Pugno di Dollari) (1964,  R)
A Fistful of Dollars (Per un Pugno di Dollari)
One of the classic spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood putting in a brilliant performance and wearing a great hat!I have to admit,i have never been a fan of westerns but after watching this i'll definately be on the lookout for more gunslinging action!
32
Hellboy (2004,  PG-13)
Hellboy
Exciting stuff from Gullimero del Toro.Plenty of great action sequences and special effects along with a few decent one liners make this an enjoyable watch.
33
The Hills Have Eyes (2006,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes
Although this film isn't very scary it delivers on the shocks and gore factor and there are a few great, edge of your seat, hands over your eyes type moments.I think the only thing that ruins this is that the kids are far to clever for their age, nobody would come up with the idea they did towards the end!I won't ruin it.Saying that i haven't seen the original so i have no idea how faithful the director of this has been to wes cravens original version.
34
White Noise (2005,  PG-13)
White Noise
This film was better than what i expected it to be.Michael Keaton gives a good performance as the man suffering from the loss of his wife. The subject matter is one thats quite scary when you think about it,especially because of the stuff that happens when keatons character try's to contact his wife through white noise(the static that comes from your computer/tv screen). This was a decent horror/thriller, sad and scary at times.
35
The Ring Two (2005,  PG-13)
The Ring Two
Although not as good as the first US Ring remake and not a patch on the Japanese original sequel, this is still a good, effective horror with some creepy moments and a good performance from Naomi Watts,as usual. Not brilliant, and you do get the impression that certain things are dumbed down for a western audience, this is still a pretty good film.
36
Fun With Dick and Jane (2005,  PG-13)
Fun With Dick and Jane
A very good performance from Jim Carey as the man who has a great, well paid job, gets a great promotion then loses it and has to resort to robbing in many creative ways, joined by his wife,in order to fund for their family who are on the verge of losing their nice, big house. This has some very funny moments and a good twist at the end that will leave you happy and relieved that the "bad guy" played well by the reliable Alec Baldwin gets whats coming to him.
37
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005,  R)
The 40 Year Old Virgin
Steve Carell had already made a name for himself after a brilliant performance in Anchorman so expectations were high when this came out with Carell playing the main character;a 40 year old retail worker who lives alone and still hasn't had sex(the clue is in the title!).Overall, this is a good story with alot of funny, sometimes hilarious moments and although it isn't as strong as the same writing teams' more recent efforts, Knocked-Up and Superbad this is still a decent comedy with strong performances and good gags.My review might have suffered a little due to the fact i watched the DVD version, which has 17 added minutes which means its now about 2 hours and 10 minutes long.A bit to long in my opinion,it's still good though.
38
Beowulf (2007,  PG-13)
Beowulf
Quite enjoyable animated action-adventure.Some of the graphics in this are brilliant and although i would have rather had seen "real" people instead of animated characters, theres plenty of action and a pretty decent story that kept me entertained throughout,Not brilliant, but worth a watch.
39
Clueless (1995,  PG-13)
Clueless
I saw this on TV the other day,i hadn't seen it for years and was kinda pleasantly suprised!I wouldn't go as far as to say it was brilliant or anything but for a girly teen rom-com thing it was ok!It had some funny moments,a pretty good,if predictable story and Alicia Silverstone, who i used to fancy so much when i was younger!
40
Fantastic Four (2005,  PG-13)
Fantastic Four
Fairly enjoyable comic book based action adventure. When a group of people get a dose of radiation they gain super human powers. This has some good action scenes and a few funny bits and Jessica Alba but overall isn't anything special.
41
Signs (2002,  PG-13)
Signs
Probably my least favourite of the M. Night Shyamalan films.Although i haven't seen Lady in the Water yet.It was ok,Joaquin Pheonix is good as usual and Mel Gibson does a good job as the former priest trying to overcome the death of his wife throughout the ordeal of the "visitors" and the rest of the cast put in good performances but the story didn't hook me as much as say Unbreakable did and the script wasn't as good as The Village and the twist at the end wasn't as good as his other films to.Overall, not a bad story and a pretty good film but nowhere near as good as his others.
42
Mike Bassett: England Manager (2001,  Unrated)
Mike Bassett: England Manager
This is quite a funny look at what happens when the Football Association put a manager from a lower league in charge of the international team.Cue some good gags and funny lines and the inevitable downfall of the England team. This isn't briliant but you do have a laugh along the way and you do feel sorry for Mike Basset at times, played well by Rick Tomlinson,as well as laugh along at his,and the teams, mistakes.Overall,a decent, watchable,if not great, comedy.
43
Rise: Blood Hunter (2007,  R)
Rise: Blood Hunter
Pretty decent vampire film about a womans revenge on the people that made her a vampire.Lucy Lui puts in a pretty good performance as Sadie Blake, the infected journalist who gets to close to the murder scene when investigating the death of a local girl. This film is gory at times, scary at times and sexy at times and you never see any fangs or messed up faces like in other vampire films which makes it different but it never seems to jump out of that "this is a pretty good film actually" view into the "fuck, this films great!" one but its still worth a watch.
44
The Matrix Reloaded (2003,  R)
The Matrix Reloaded
Some great moments but theres to much CGI and not enough story.
45
The Return (2006,  PG-13)
The Return
An average psychological thriller about a young woman, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, who starts having visions in which she's another woman and shes being stalked and eventually murdered. She goes to Texas, where the visions seemingly take place,to find out what's happening to her. This is an ok thriller but it's been done so many times before and it feels like a remake of a Japanese horror, although it's not!
46
Vantage Point (2008,  PG-13)
Vantage Point
Pretty clever action thriller about an asassination attempt on the US president as seen by the different points of view of 7 people. This has some good moments of action, good performances from Matthew Fox,Dennis Quaid and Forest Whitaker and is a well made thriller although the plots a bit thin and it's quite obvious whats gonna happen before the twists arrive. It might get a little confusing if your not paying attention but overall this is a well crafted thriller with plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments.
47
Cursed (2004,  PG-13)
Cursed
Not bad werewolf horror/thriller.When brother and sister Ellie and Jimmy survive a car accident after plungeing their car to the side of the road, they get attacked by what looks like a huge dog, their seemingly normal lives take an interesting turn. They seem alot stronger, their sense of smell and hearing has heightened and they seem to have become more attractive to the opposite sex.Lucky them! But this also leads them to research a string of attacks in the city which leads to a shocking discovery.Overall, not a bad thriller and Christina Ricci puts in a decent performance as usual but the werewolf effects aren't great and although theres a few scares they could have upped the gore factor and creepy atmosphere a bit because this leaves the film with a "teen-horror" feel.Ok,but could have been better.
48
Dark Water (2005,  PG-13)
Dark Water
Not a bad remake of a Japanese horror(as if we needed another one).In this one,Jennifer Connelly plays a young woman trying to start a new life with her daughter and put her seperation with her husband behind her. When they move into a flat, things get strange when a leak in the bedroom ceiling gets worse and voices and walking around are heard from the upstairs flat although it's meant to be empty. The janiter blames it on local kids, but does he know more than he's letting on?Then things get more disturbing when Connelly's daughter,Ceci, starts talking to an imaginery friend which in turn, starts to ruin her school life and make her mother look unstable.Jennifer Connelly is as good as ever and the cast, including Tim Roth,Pete Postlethwaite and Dougray Scott put in decent enough performances and although this is just another remake and nothing special, overall,it's a pretty good psychological thriller.
49
The Aviator (2004,  PG-13)
The Aviator
Decent Biopic of Howard Hughes. The tycoon who, during his career, made millions from film directing, oil, casino's and, obviously, aviation. Leonardo DiCappacino puts in a brilliant performance in the lead role as we see Howard's life spiralling out of control throughout as he tackles all his business ventures as well as an OCD-type obsession with cleanliness and saying things correctly.Cate Blanchett is also brilliant as former girlfriend, katherine Hepburn, and Kate Beckinsale looks stunning as usual as another one of Howard's girlfriends.Along with appearances from Alec Baldwin,Jude Law,Ian Holm and John C. Reily,it's an impressive cast and with Martin Scorsese directing, this couldn't really fail. It's possibly a bit to long, with a couple of unnessasary scenes here and there but this is still a well made and engaging film.
50
Vampires: Out for Blood (2004,  R)
Vampires: Out for Blood
Not bad vampire thriller. When a cop, played by Kevin Dillon, investigates strange disappearances in town he finds alot more than he bargained for and after getting bitten by an ancient vampire, realises he has only 24 hours to find out about the disappearances and find those responsible before he becomes a vampire himself.Although this has a bit of a budget, made for TV feel at times,it's pretty good and has some scares and moments of gore.Plus,i have no idea who Jodi Lyn O'keefe is but....yes,i would.
51
Fatal Instinct (1993,  PG-13)
Fatal Instinct
Ok spoof of films like Basic Instinct,Sleeping with the Enemy, fatal attraction and other "steamy thrillers".A cop/attorney gets seduced by a sexy bitch behind his wifes back but what he doesn't know is that his wife wants him dead, then take his money and move away with the car mechanic she's been having an affair with.Plus there's his secertary,Laura, who's madly in love with him but is haunted by her past of being in a violent marriage to a mentalist. There's some pretty good gags here and there and Sherilyn Fenn is still fit,(although not as sexy as Audrey Horne, obviously, who is?)but this will never compare with The Naked Gun series or the Airplane films.
52
Honeydripper (2007,  PG-13)
Honeydripper
Decent drama about the birth of rock n' roll in 1950's Alabama.Tyrone Pervis' bar,The Honeydripper,is on the verge of being brought out unless he can come up with enough money and keep the place busy like it used to be.When Tyrone books a popular local guitarist to play and he fails to show up it seems Tyrone will no longer have his bar,but when a young drifter comes to the bar claiming he can play guitar and sing,Tyrone comes up with an idea that might just save his job and the Honeydripper and also help change music forever.A great performance by Danny Glover as Tyrone Pervis and a good script. This does seem a tad overlong at times but its a good story with an uplifting ending about the birth of some truly amazing music.
53
The Happening (2008,  R)
The Happening
A pretty good thriller by M. Night Shyamalan about a crisis that starts taking over a certain part of America and a familys' attempt to escape it.It's a decent enough idea, quite original and it's also quite creepy but it seems a bit dull at times and im not sure if thats because of the uncomfortable looking performances or the fact that the idea maybe could have been expanded on a bit. There's no twist in this one which in a way is quite refreshing as all shymathingys films have done that up until now but the ending is pretty good and the idea is pretty scary when you think about it, although some will find it a bit stupid the way its explained makes the crisis seem very real and a serious threat.
Overall,a good, original idea although slightly ruined by average/unsure actors but still quite creepy and worth a look.
54
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007,  Unrated)
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
If its an excuse for gore your after then look no futher!A reality show in which the contestants have to fight against the elements,or something,in a stretch of woods in order to win $100,000 is fucked when the contestants are attacked one by one by a family of mental, deformed, murderous cannibals! The first ten or so minutes when the reality stuff is explained seems rushed so that the killing can begin and when it does its pretty impressive.Ok,so it's not original, but first time director Joe Lynch does a great job with the build up and the gore scenes and it was nice to just sit back and enjoy some mindless violence. Not quite as good as the first but alot gorier.
55
Chocolat (2000,  PG-13)
Chocolat
Good adaptation of the novel(not that i've read it!)staring Juliette Binoche as Vianne, who arrives in a small God fearing French town in 1959 to open a shop that sells various chocolate truffles. At first the locals are sceptical about the arrival of this young woman and her daughter but once they try her many different chocolates they are amazed and the once solemn locals become more cheerful and Vianne and her shop seems to be having a positive impact on the town.Apart from a local priest who sees her as evil and wants to shut her business down and get her out of town as quickly as possible.Things are made even more interesting with the arrival of a group of travellers, including a young man, played by Johnny Depp, who are looking to stick around for a while before moving on.When Vianne meets him she starts to think that maybe she has finally found somewhere she can settle.Appearances from Judi Dench and Lena Olin make up the impressive cast and the decent,feel-good story keeps you watching until the end.
56
Wimbledon (2004,  PG-13)
Wimbledon
Romantic comedy set at the world famous Wimbledon tennis tournament, staring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany as the tennis players that fall for each other "against the odds".This has a pretty simple plot, the odd funny moment, the odd dramatic moment where you think it's not going to happen for the two lead actors and a happy ending where everything works out fine.A typical British rom-com then.To be fair, the acting's pretty good and the shots where everythings slowed down as we hear Paul Bettany's characters thoughts are good an add a bit of depth to the character and overall feel of the film.Other than that, just your average run of the mill romantic comedy; ok,but nothing special.
57
Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted
Mental action thriller.A normal man who's bored with his crap job, crap flat and girlfriend, who's cheating on him with his best friend, is changed into a bullet bending badboy by Morgan Freeman's gang of assasin's who call themselves The Fraternity. He's taught by Angelina Jolie's character and soon knows how to shoot, stab and fight like the rest of them and is given assignments to take people out who The Fraternity believe are destined to murder in the future; "kill one, save a thousand" is their motto.Or at least one of Jolie's lines...Anyway,i was quite suprised and enjoyed this more than i thought i would. There's some great visuals, brilliantly over the top car chases and action sequences,a bit of gore and there's even a decent twist towards the end.And it might seem weird seeing James McAvoy in this role but he doesn't do a bad job and pretty much holds everything together. And you see Jolie's ass.For only a second but it could be the most important second in movie history. This is one of those films that needs to be released every year;a fun, over the top thriller, not to serious, not to heavy on plot but plenty of action. Not great by any means but ok and good enough for a relaxing saturday afternoon at the cinema!
58
Session 9 (2001,  R)
Session 9
Creepy psychological thriller.A hazardous materials/asbestos clean up company are hired to remove any nasty chemicals from within an old mental asylum.Things are going as well as could be expected at first but when one of the crew members opens up one of the files and starts listening to old interviews of one of the patients things get weird, noises are heard, things are seen and people start to get paranoid. This is creepy stuff at times with the big old building a great setting for a horror film and as the film goes on you start to wonder if the clean up crew are starting to lose it as people's behaviour becomes more desperate, angry and paranoid.Despite the dodgy acting and lack of likeable characters this has enough tension, twists and creepy moments to keep you entertained.
59
Alien Resurrection (1997,  R)
Alien Resurrection
The fourth installment in the Alien series and although not as good as the others, its still a pretty good horror/thriller. Sigourney Weaver puts in another great performance as Ripley. This times its 200 years after she was supposedly killed by the Aliens but she has been brought back as human/alien clone to continue to fight against, and understand, the aliens. This time she has to team up with a hardened space team which include Ron Perlman and Winona Ryder when the aliens escape from captivity and start taking over the ship/station.Not great, especially compared to the first two,ok in it's own right but ultimately average and let down by the crappy human/alien hybrid thing at the end.
60
Vertigo (1958,  PG)
Vertigo
Psychological thriller from Alfred Hitchcock. When an ex- detective gets asked to spy on an old friends wife who he believes has become posessed the detective reluctantly agrees. But after following the young woman for a while he starts to believe that she could really be posessed and not only that,he falls in love with her.But the love soon becomes obsession and when the woman seemingly commits suicide this has a very negative effect on the former detective.Despite being a bit over long this has a few decent twists and good performances, especially from James Stewart as the ex detective with a fear of heights. The film as a whole is very good now so in 1958,the films original release, people must've been messing their pants!
61
Derailed (2005,  R)
Derailed
Average,noir-ish thriller. When a worn down family man and successful ad executive meets a sexy woman on the train who not only seems to be a very kind and nice lady but also attracted to him,he can't believe his luck and actually contemplates having an affair despite being married and having a kid. After another meeting they decide to book in to a seedy hotel for a night of fucking only to be interupted just as they were getting down to it by a violent theif who steals the mans wallet and rapes the woman. If this isn't bad enough the man gets a call from the theif the next day blackmailing him and demanding money seemingly making this mans life collapse around him. This is a pretty good thriller with a couple of decent twists and despite good enough performances from Clive Owen, Vincent Cassel as the mental theif and the beautiful as ever Melissa George,Jennifer Aniston is miscast as the women Owens' character meets on the train and the script isn't as good as it should have been.Pretty good but been done lots of times before and better.
62
The Relic (1997,  R)
The Relic
Fairly decent horror/monster movie. When some crates arrive at a museum there appears to be nothing in them, but when its discovered that murders happened on the cargo ship containing the crates and a security guard is brutaly murdered at the museum police are sent in to investigate a possible link and get alot more than they bargained for when it seems some kind of monster hybrid thing has been stalking the museum for victims.Although this looks dated and despite a slow, confusing start it soon kicks into gear and becomes quite an exciting, if not brilliant, horror/thriller.
63
War of the Worlds (2005,  PG-13)
War of the Worlds
Pretty exciting thriller based on the novel.A load of massive tripods controlled by aliens start taking over the world and Ray,played by Tom Cruise, has to try and protect his two kids from the invasion. Although not amazing this has some cool moments of tension and great special effects and is as much about Ray's relationship with his kids as it is about an alien invasion.A decent, gripping, big budget thriller.
64
Cabin Fever (2002,  R)
Cabin Fever
Old school influenced horror by Eli Roth with a bit of an original antagonist.A group of 5 mostly annoying teenagers are staying in a cabin in the woods for a week away but when they come across a seemingly virus infected man who later ends up dead in the reservoir, things take a gruesome turn. This is quite original in that the killer is the virus,or germ/bacteria and this makes for some very gory effects but this film seems to lose the main point of the plot at times and is also about 15-20 mins to long.Overall,a not bad,if not great, gory horror film.
65
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993,  PG-13)
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
Fairly entertaining look into the life of the late martial arts legend and film star. This shows Bruce Lee's rise to fame and what he has to go through to get there.Jason Scott Lee is very good as Lee as he seems to have the right amount of intesity and passion as the man himself as well as the right facial expressions and fight noises!Although this doesn't go into great detail of his life,it's not an epic biopic like, say, The Aviator, but it's an entertaining look into the life of a passionate fighter who had to fight to be accepted, both physically and mentally and through that had a well deserved rise to stardom which was stopped suddenly by his untimely death.
Not great but still a compelling and exciting film at times and worth a watch.
66
Enemy of the State (1998,  R)
Enemy of the State
Decent thriller with Will Smith as Robert Clayton Dean, a lawyer who is unknowingly hiding a copyed file of a congressmans assasination in one his bags after bumping into an old college friend while christmas shopping.Certain parties in the FBI,namely those involved in the congressmans murder, need to get the file back so they pretty much hack into his life and have him followed everywhere.Deans house and clothes are bugged, his bank cards wiped so he can't use them and it seems this normally happy family mans life is ruined. But when he meets an ally in Gene Hackman it seems he might be able to sort things out and get his life back.Despite being a bit overlong, this is mostly entertaining stuff and makes you think about how mich info the goverment and other organisations have on us and how far they'd go to obtain information.Plus with a cast including Jon Voight, Jack Black and Seth Green, along with Smith and Hackman you can't really go wrong.Well,ya could but fortunately this doesn't!
67
Unleashed (Danny the Dog) (2005,  R)
Unleashed (Danny the Dog)
Action thriller with Jet Li as Danny,a young man brought up by a mobster as a kind of enforcer; to deliver messages and cause pain when needed.Danny hardly speaks and is kept on a leash and is only released when needed. But when he randomly meets a blind piano tuner, played by Morgan Freeman,he discovers his softer side and attempts to free himself from the gangland underworld he's been brought up in.
Its not bad, Bob Hoskins is good as the mobster trying to control Danny, and we see some great fight scenes on behalf of Jet Li but its a bit odd in that its supposed to be based in Glasgow but it seems to be full of cockneys which is a bit inaccurate plus theres not much in the way of plot although there's an attempt at one but it shifts uneasily between drama and comedy.Ok if you want to switch your brain off for a while and watch some violence. If thats your thing,do it.If its not, don't!

Batman Gotham Knight (2008,  Unrated)
Batman Gotham Knight
Series of 6 short films that bridge the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The animation is brilliant and if you're a big fan of Batman AND animation then you'll probably love this.Personally i'm not a fan of animated stuff so found it a little hard to get into but it was still quite interesting and very well made.

Reality Bites (1993,  PG-13)
Reality Bites
Cool romantic comedy about a girl who has to choose between her clever but lazy best friend and a TV executive than can help her career move upwards. This is fairly predictable for the most part but the odd funny moment, decent soudtrack and the moments where you can relate and identify with certain characters and their situations makes this a worthwhile watch.Nothing special by any means but not a steaming pile of horse shit either.

Half Nelson (2006,  R)
Half Nelson
Compelling drama about an inspirational teacher who seems likeable enough but behind closed doors is a cocaine addict struggling to cope until he's discovered off his face in the school toilets by one of his students. It's then that an unlikely friendship is formed as the teacher try's to get the student to keep away from a local drug dealer who wants her to become a courier for his deals.Ryan Gosling gives an excellent performance as the teacher,as do other members of the cast. But its the effort to keep away from the usual "against all odds, he's better and everythings great" ending, along with Goslings performance, that makes this film memorable.

Indecent Proposal (1993,  R)
Indecent Proposal
Romantic-ish drama.A happy couple's marraige looks doomed when they accept an offer from a millionairre businessman to spend one night with the wife if he pays them one million pounds.Afterwoods all the jealousy and paranoia surfaces and the couple seem forced to go their seperate ways. This is a pretty decent look at morals and true love and has some decent performances and Demi Moore looks great. Not brilliant but quite compelling with a decent enough plot.

Rear Window (1954,  PG)
Rear Window
One of Hitchcock's best known films and it's mostly easy to see why.A man with a broken leg is forced to stay in his apartment for weeks until he gets better and return to his job as a photographer/journalist and all he can do with his time is spy on the neighbours in the opposite flat. It's quite fun at first, looking into the windows of the local musician and the pretty blonde ballet dancer jumping around in her flat. But it's when he notices a middle aged man in his flat behaving oddly that he starts to suspect something strange is going on.Even more so when his wife mysteriously vanishes.Although the dialogue might seem a bit much at times, this has the typical Hitchcock traits of blending different styles and hints of genre's together,is well made and acted and has Grace Kelly, who has to be one of the most beautiful actresses in the history of film.Quite a tense ending to.Good stuff.

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008,  R)
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People
A fairly easy-going comedy about an English journalist who gets a call to work for a big magazine company in America and what he gets up to between his rise towards the top of his career. This has some great funny moments as Simon Pegg's character, Sydney, try's to attract the attention of a hot new actress; the perfectly cast, epitome of sexinesss that is Megan Fox,as well as trying to impress new boss Jeff Bridges.A pretty impressive cast with Kirsten Dunst as a fellow journalist and Gillian Anderson as a ruthless publicist along with Pegg being as good as usual, make this an enjoyable, if not brilliant, romantic-ish comedy.
74
Judgment Night (1993,  R)
Judgment Night
Not bad thriller.Emilio Estivez and friends are on their way to a boxing match but get stuck in a traffic jam on the highway. They try and take a short cut but end up witnessing a murder by a bunch of gangsters. They have to go on the run from the gang or die so a "deadly game of cat and mouse ensues"(i read that bit in a review somewhere) and the lads have to keep one step ahead of the gang or they're fucked. Not literally. It's ok, has some good moments of action, tension and stuff and Denis Leary's a pretty good bad guy but overall this is a bit pointless and looks quite dated considering it came out in 1993,it looks very mid-80's.It's only the cult-ish, groundbreaking at the time,rap/metal soundtrack that keeps this film from disappearing into nothingness and i don't know if that a good thing!
75
Cop Land (1997,  R)
Cop Land
I've wanted to check this film out for ages and finally got around to it and i have to say,i was pretty impressed. Sylvester Stallone plays a Sherriff in a small town of cops that work for the NYPD. His job is pretty easy going and he enjoys it but when the cover up of a a supposidly dead cop is exposed, hell starts to break loose in the town and it turns out there's all sorts of police corruption going down that Sly unwittingly gets involved in. With Robert DeNiro, Harvey Keitel and Ray Liotta in the cast, Stallone was never going to be the best actor in this film but he did a good job, putting on alot of weight for the role and giving a decent, understated performance.A very good drama/thriller with some twists and turns and good performances from all involved.

The Omen (2006,  R)
The Omen
Nowadays,if Hollywood aren't remaking East Asian films, they're remaking their own(or British)old classics and although there has been a few decent remakes this isn't really one of them.Probably not the worst of the remake bunch, this has a few creepy moments and the kid that plays Damien is still pretty creepy to, but it all seems a bit pointless considering the original is so great, then again a few of my favourites have already been remade and a few more are being done right now so no point in complaining anymore, i suppose! An ok horror film overall, but as expected, not a patch on the original.

American Movie (1999,  R)
American Movie
Spoof documentry about a film makers way to long journey on making a feature film that he's seemingly destined to never make due to debt and lack of funding so he goes about trying to finish a previous short film in an attempt to make funding for his dream project, Northwestern.Unfortunately i missed the last 5/10 minutes which has obviously effected the final scoring. When i've finally seen it all i'll come back with possibly a new score!Very good and very funny from what i saw though.

My Life Without Me (2003,  R)
My Life Without Me
Drama with Sarah Polley as a young woman, Ann, who is living a pretty normal life. She has a husband, 2 kids, works nights as a cleaner and lives in a caravan in her mums backyard.Ann just tries her best to get on with life, cruising through the day, until she is diagnosed with cancer and told she only has about a month to live. It's then she realises the type of life shes been living and makes a list of things to do before she dies. It's compelling stuff,at times heart warming AND heart breaking and Sarah Polley puts in a good performance as Ann. One of the main things i liked about this film was that despite the depressing subject matter, it never gets to depressing, it's message being more about living for now and making the most of your time before it's to late.
79
Bad Santa (2003,  R)
Bad Santa
This is surely one of the best christmas films ever!Billy Bob Thornton plays a drunken middle aged man who every year dresses up as Santa in the many different malls of America, just so at the end of a paricular shift he, and his sidekick, can rob the malls safe and make off with all the money. Only in one particular mall, the store manager, security manager and a school kid, slowly help ruin their plans. Thornton is on brilliant, foul mouthed form and there's some great funny moments and one-liners. The relationship between Thornton and the school kid is quite touching at times, as is his relationship with the local barmaid("Fuck me,Santa!"), which shows he isn't just some sweary alcoholic. A decent black comedy and a welcome break from all the usual sentimental festive shit!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Decent, big budget sequel to Curse of the Black Pearl. Some great action packed moments and Johnny Depp is on form as Captain Jack Sparrow. This also has a pretty good story and is lots of fun but the only thing stopping it getting a higher rating is the fact that it's about 20 minutes to long.I've got no problem sitting and watching a film thats over two and a half hours long but there were certain scenes that were dragged out for far to long when the point of it could have been made a good coupla minutes before the actual end of the scene!Other than that,a good action adventure.
81
King Kong (2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
As a fan of Naomi Watts, this has been on my want to see list for ages and i finally got to see it the the other day. Despite being about 3 and a half hours long Peter Jackson actually did a pretty good job of not stretching most of the scenes out for to long.Sure, there were a few unnessasary moments but there were also some great action sequences and effects, like the fight between Kong and the dinosaurs. And obviously Naomi Watts was great as the beautiful young actress that Kong falls for.It was also interesting to see Jack Black in a serious role and he did a pretty good job as a slightly dodgy film producer. Not brilliant, but good enough for a few hours of your time.
82
The Cottage (2008,  Unrated)
The Cottage
Fun, funny and gory black comedy about two brothers who take a club bosses daughter hostage and keeping her in a secluded farmhouse in hope of getting thousands of pounds in ransom money. Obviously things don't turn out as planned when the hostage turns out to be a bit of a gobby hard case and there's also someone/thing living nearby that likes to kill people in interesting ways! If you don't take this to seriously and just sit back and enjoy, this is a great comedy horror.
83
The Mist (2007,  R)
The Mist
Interesting and compelling horror about a strange mist that spreads across a small town in America. When the residents realise that something pretty horrible is in the mist they take shelter in the local supermarket. But it won't be long until whatevers in that mist will break through and get to them. There's some great tension and chaos, especially when certain people get manipulated by the towns overly religious nutjob(a great performance by Marcia Gay Harden,i genuinely hated that bitch!). This is powerful stuff and the ending is,as most people know or have heard, unforgettable.
84
Pathology (2008,  R)
Pathology
Ok horror about a promising medical students descent into murder and madness when he joins a famous medical school. At first it doesn't seem like he is going to be accepted as a fellow doctor and friend by the team at all, until one of the doctors tells him to meet him after work one night for alot of drinking. It's then things take an interesting turn as the dead body the students are assigned to work on the next day looks very familar. It's then that the promising medical students high potential gets damaged as he discovers, and gets involved with, the group of doctors that play deadly games with other people's lives.
Despite a wooden performance from Milo Ventimiglia, this has enough gore, sex and tension to keep most horror fans happy.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008,  R)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Another film from "Team Apatow" and yet again this is pretty funny stuff.Mostly, anyway. When musician/TV score writer Peter gets dumped by his TV actress girlfriend, the Sarah Marshall of the title, after four years of dating he's devestated, so he takes a holiday to Hawaii to try and get over it. Little does he know, Sarah and her new boyfriend are also holidaying there. Cue some funny gags and stuff as Peter try's unsucessfully to avoid them and meets some interesting people along the way, including stunning hotel receptionist Mila Kunis. This has its fair share of funny moments and the cast is pretty good, Russel Brand being suprisingly funny as Sarah's new boyfriend.Good fun, probably my least favourite of the Aptow thingy's but still,a decent rom-com, worth a watch.
86
The Independent (2001,  R)
The Independent
Comedy with Jerry Stiller as a B-movie director known for his "interesting" films. When he decides he wants to make a new film about a serial killer's life he finds he's skint, so,along with the help of his daughter and long suffering assistant, he tries to get people's interest back into his work by trying to get a company to screen his films at a film festival. Obviously, this proves difficult due to a cult-ish, and limited audience.I have to admit, until i spotted this in a budget store the other day,i'd never heard of The Independent, but i was just about pleasantly suprised as this has some funny moments, the cast is good and its a pretty good story to. Not brilliant but pretty cool.
87
The Forsaken (2001,  R)
The Forsaken
Not bad vampire movie. A young man is driving a new car through the desert on the way to a city for a client but meets a lonely man begging for a lift on the way. The man reluctantly agrees but its not long before things get weird as the pair come across a young girl in a roadside diner who appears to be in distress. Its not long until the hitcher reveals his identity as a vampire hunter who is on the trail of a ruthless gang. This has some cool moments of horror and has a pretty good soundtrack. It's not great, but for a B-movie stuck in a long line of vampire films, this is actually pretty good for the most part.

Death Proof (Grindhouse Presents) (2007,  R)
Death Proof (Grindhouse Presents)
The first time i saw this i wasn't sure what to make of it and didn't think it matched up to Tarantino's previous films at all. But on second veiwage, although its still my least favourite of his so far, i enjoyed Deathproof even more. This has the typical, quick, witty and sweary dialogue we now expect along with the odd moment of gore and the cool soundtrack. This time some sexy ladies, including the always lovely Rose McGowan and Rosario Dawson, are thrown in along with Kurt Russel and his indestructible car! Some people might prefer the first group of ladies, some the second, some both of 'em, but nobody should be undecided on the car chase of the last 20 minutes, its brilliant! Not a masterpiece by Tarantino's standards but still goes along well with Grindhouse theme and was well worth the second look.
89
Revolutionary Road (2008,  R)
Revolutionary Road
Drama with Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCappacino as a husband and wife who are stuck in a mundane life and try to deal with it. When the couple move to a nice new house on Revolutionary Road they think they'll have a nice, normal life; Dicaprio with his dull job and Winslet at home looking after the house and their two children. But it soon becomes clear that this is just the same, boring existence that everybody else goes through and they, Winslets character especially, want to change that by moving away to Paris. But when Winslet becomes pregnant, the plans change. The two lead performances are brilliant as we see the often fragile marriage falling apart throughout but with the odd moment of tenderness showing that despite everything, they do love one another. The film also makes you think about our role/s in life and if you want to just settle for the normal way of life because its what seems to be expected, or whether you want to take a chance and make the most of life while you can. This message hits home at the end,in the final scene. Despite being a bit overlong, this is a well made and acted drama with a good message.

Pi (1998,  R)
Pi
Darren Aronofsky's debut is a puzzling but original thriller about a maths genius, Max Cohen, who believes that everything in the world can be determined by an order of numbers, even the seemingly crazy and random numbers in the stock market that Max is determined to break. An interesting film with the usual great performances and soundtrack you'd expect from an Aronofsky film. The three stars is just a rating in progress as i was completely knackered when i watched it and kept drifting off towards the end !Nothing to do with the film, which seemed very interesting. Once i've re-watched Pi i will review it again!

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006,  R)
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane
Pretty cool horror about a seemingly unattainable girl, the Mandy Lane of the title, trying to fit in and make some new friends, apart from everyone wanting a bit more than just friendship. When Mandy Lane gets invited to a party at a ranch she agrees to go as she wants to make new friends, despite the fact that every boy wants her and every girl wants to be her, Mandy seems almost oblivious to this and kinda different to the normal high school slags. Obviously things quickly go wrong and bad stuff starts to happen but hey, this is a horror movie and thats expected! This is definately influenced by the Friday 13th type movies from the 80's and with that in mind is quite an enjoyable horror and Amber Heard is gorgeaus as Mandy Lane, the perfect choice for a seemingly perfect girl. The twist at the end is pretty cool to. It might not be perfect but All The Boys Love Mandy Lane looks good and is good.
92
Last Days (2005,  R)
Last Days
Interesting look at the final days of a rock star, who is based on Kurt Cobain. Blake is a very quiet, seemingly strange man, little do people know whats going on in his head, even the people around him. Whether this is what Kurt Cobain was exactly like during his final days is unknown but Blakes demise mirror's Cobain's. There's very little dialogue and like Gus Van Sant's other films, this is more like a character study of a lost and lonely person who just happened to be the world's biggest rock star. It's a bit random and you'll either get it or not but it's still an interesting film, worth a look.
93
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006,  R)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
Not bad prequel to the 2003 remake of the classic horror. In this one we see the history of the Hewitt family and how they began there vicious slaughtering of anyone who comes through there part of town. It's more or less your typical gory horror with some cool kills and scares, it would have been nice if it got a bit deeper into the family history instead of just going straight for the throat/chainsaw. But if you just fancy watching people getting tortured and killed with some jumps along the way then this could be a great night in. Fair play for the ending to, which wasn't as predictable as it looked like it would be.
94
P2 (2007,  R)
P2
Tense horror about an office worker getting ready to go home for christmas and to a family party but instead getting locked in and terrorised by a mental fellow worker. This might sound like boring, been there seen it kinda stuff but this is actually pretty gripping with some scares and a few scockingly gory moments. Worth a watch.
95
Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines (2003,  R)
Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines
This was actually better than i expected it to be. Not by a whole lot but the action scenes were really cool and the T-X was a great baddie, although not as cool as the T-1000, obviously. Definately sexier though! Although not a patch on the first 2, this definately has its moments with some great, dodgy lines by Arnie! Overall,an entertaining action thriller Sci-fi film.
96
Vampyres (1974,  R)
Vampyres
Decent 70's vampire film that used to be in my "Nooooooo!" list until i watched it again! It's about two vampire women who lure male drivers back to their massive house for sex, only for the blokes to get bitten the shit out of and drained of there blood! The scenes where the victims get attacked are pretty good and gory and theres a couple of good "erotic" scenes that at the time were probably quite shocking. Not great but still, a pretty good old school vampire film.
97
The Lost World - Jurassic Park (1997,  PG-13)
The Lost World - Jurassic Park
For the first hour this film was boring and a bit confusing but once the dinosaur's started attacking it got better! An average sequel to the classic first film wher people attempt to go back and control the dinosaurs. Obviously, the dinosaur's are having none of that and soon there's running and screaming. It's not bad, but with a dodgy beginning and a few questionable moments during the action sequences this isn't exactly a great follow up.
98
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009,  PG-13)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Action packed but average sequel. Going from the trailer, you knew the effects and action scenes in this were going to be brilliant but it's a case of style over substance as the characters we do find out more about(LaBeouf's parents)are just annoying and its hard to really care about a robot so any attempts to feel sorry for LaBeouf's car/transformer and the other Autobots are totally pointless. It's not all bad, those action scenes are pretty stunning and Megan Fox looks like the sexiest woman ever and is actually the only character i cared about! Overall then, not terrible but still a disappointing and overlong sequel.
99
Sex Drive (2008,  R)
Sex Drive
Comedy about a young mans journey to Knoxville to lose his virginity. As you might imagine from the above description this isn't the most original idea in the world and isn't as good as the likes of Superbad or the first few American Pie movies but it definately has its moments and the performances from Josh Zuckerman, Clark Duke and the lovely Amanda Crew are decent enough and there's an appearance from Seth Green to, which adds to the cool factor which is nearly ruined by an appearance from average pop-rockers Fall Out Boy. There are some funny moments and cool lines, enough to make this worth watching.
100
Kalifornia (1993,  R)
Kalifornia
Road movie thriller. David Duchovny plays an author with a fascination for serial killers and decides to take a road trip with his female girlfriend around the US to various venues where murders have happened as research for a new book which will eventually land them in California. When they put an advert up on a college notice board for two people to accompany them, little do they know the couple that respond to the ad are a couple of weirdo's, one of which is a murdering psycho! Brad Pitt puts in a decent, at times chilling performance as the nutcase and Juliette Lewis is great as his naive girlfriend. A decent early 90's thriller, well worth checking out.
101
Curfew (1989,  Unrated)
Curfew
Cult-ish, previously banned years ago B-movie horror. When two murdering bastards escape from prison they go find the people responsible and act shocking and gory revenge. Despite its b-movie status, this is quite well acted with some good gory moments and murder scenes and the mentalists do a pretty good job of being mental. Not brilliant by any means but not bad for what it is.
102
Rachel Getting Married (2008,  R)
Rachel Getting Married
After watching Anne Hathaway in the drama Havoc a few years back i knew she could play a gritty kinda role and not just Devil Wears Prada/Princess Dairies type stuff and here she proves again that shes a versatile young actress with a show stealing performance as Kym, a recovering drug addict out of rehab for her sisters wedding. The almost documentry style of direction might not please everyone and at times makes dialogue hard to hear but for me it made the whole thing seem more real, adding to the drama as Kyms issues seem to be getting in the way of the wedding arrangements. A decent drama with good performances that puts you right in the middle of an interesting families life.
103
Chemical Wedding (2008,  Unrated)
Chemical Wedding
Strange, slightly ridiculous but at the same time decent occult horror thing! It's quite hard to describe what this film is but basically the soul of Alistair Crowley gets put into the mind and body of a university proffessor through a scientific, quantum physics experiment and thats when "Crowley" starts reeking havoc with his strange sexual ritual practices! Kinda crazy, yes but its also an interesting look into the mind of an intelligent and clever, as well as mental, bastard. As this is a film by legendary Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson there are plenty of lyrical references to Maiden and a few Maiden/Dickinson songs on the soudtrack that add to the fun!
104
Blood - The Last Vampire (2001,  Unrated)
Blood - The Last Vampire
The original Japanese anime that the recent film was based on. I watched this about a year ago but wanted to watch it again as i've seen, and enjoyed, the live action version. Firstly, this is alot shorter, only 45 minutes long. But in that time it manages to cram in plenty of action and plot and is just as good, if not a bit better, than the live action film. I'm not really a fan of animated films but this looks and sounds great and is a must see if you enjoyed the recent interpretation.
105
The Haunting in Connecticut (2009,  PG-13)
The Haunting in Connecticut
A decent, if fairly generic and predictable, haunted house film. When Hollywood don't know what else to remake they usually make stuff based on true stories. In this one, a young cancer sufferer gets possessed by a boy, a medium, who got killed there years ago. This, along with the house being haunted by people who were seemingly experimented on there, scares the living shit out of the family! Turns out the victorian style house was also a funeral home. Although not brilliant, this has its fair share of jump bits and the true story thing adds to the creepiness. Throw in fittie Amanda Crew and you've got a pretty decent late night horror.
106
The Unborn (2009,  PG-13)
The Unborn
Ok, we've all been "given a new insight into the life of the undead" and "taken a trip into the relm of the supernatural" many times before but despite mixed, mostly bad, reviews, i quite enjoyed this particular ghost story/horror! Beautiful, Megan Fox-alike Odette Yustman is getting haunted in her nightmares and in the real world by a young boy. As the plot unfolds we find who the boy is and why these things are happening to her and how she can try and stop it. Despite being your average modern horror there are some cool scares and freaky bits and Yustman is very sexy.Throw in Gary Oldman and you've got half a star added already!
107
Ripper (2002,  R)
Ripper
This B-movie-ish horror wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. Molly, the sole survivor of a massacre a few years back, joins a college to study criminal psychology. Meanwhile someones going around imitating the famous Jack the Ripper killings from years ago. Not brilliantly, but killing people none the less! This starts off pretty badly and picks up halfway through and has some fairly effective scares and some gore. Overall, an ok, if not great, who-did-it type horror.
108
Death Tunnel (2005,  R)
Death Tunnel
Another average b-movie type horror. I seem to be going through a cheap horror phase! In this one, a group of girls, as part of some college initiation thing, have to go through each floor of an abanded old sanitarium on their own. Cue plenty of creepy moments, jumps and some gore. Throw in some obligatory nudity from one of the sexy ladies and you've got an ok modern horror. The numerous flashbacks might become to much and the endings pretty crap, nothings explained properly really but other than that, not bad. Kudos to the crew for filming in a real haunted old hospital!
109
Taken (2009,  PG-13)
Taken
A bit like a film version of 24 but with Liam Neeson being the national security type who has to rescue his daughter when shes kidknapped while on holiday with a friend. Neesons pretty good, kicking ass in a no-nonsence way and theres some brutal moments but its nothing special. This did actually get some great reviews on here, not sure why. Its great if your after a night infront of the TV with a beer and pizza, getting drunk, but other than that....average action thriller.

I Love You, Man (2009,  R)
I Love You, Man
Pretty good "bromantic comedy" about a guy who, after proposing to his female girlfriend, hasn't got any proper male friends to share his good news with and even ask to be his best man so he attempts to sort this out by meeting new people and after a few disasterous meetings he randomly bumps into Sydney, who he bonds with straight away. This is a pretty good comedy with some very funny moments due to Paul Rudd and Jason Segal who are pretty good at funny stuff. Appearances from Jon Favreau and Jaime Pressly add to it a bit but overall this is just a good comedy, not a great one but gets an extra half star for the appearance from rock daddies Rush!
111
The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977,  R)
The Kentucky Fried Movie
An early Film from the guys behind Airplane, Naked Gun and Hot Shots. This is more a series of long sketches than an actual film and to be honest, looks pretty dated. But it has some hilarious moments and is definately worth hunting down if you're a fan of the films above.

H2: Halloween II (2009,  R)
H2: Halloween II
I was really looking forward to this but, brutality aside, i was a bit disappointed. This carries on straight from where Rob Zombies first installment finished so gets off to a flying start. Laurie is obviously traumatised by what happened to her last halloween but is trying to get over it with a job, friends and a counsellor but things are about to go a bit shit for Laurie as the supposedly dead Michael Myers is alive and still after his teenage sister. Obviously, everyone that comes into contact with Myers gets killed in the most brutal way possible and in some respects it looks great and in others it tends to drag on a bit to the point where we don't care. Also, this has some clever uses of dream sequences and symbolism involving Myers mum and his younger self but these are used far to much throughout the film. I did like some of the violence and the way the film was made and thought Scout Taylor-Compton did a good job as the troubled Laurie but overall i felt this was missing something. Worth a look for hardcore horror fans and i'd watch it again but its nothing special, unfortunately.
